Heard the hype about Shaka shack opening in the old Little House cafe location so I was eager to try this. From living on Big Island, visiting family in Oahu, and frequent island hopping-food expectations were high. There's 5 small tables inside, got there around 9 on Sunday and the restaurant quickly filled up. We ordered the ube waffles, Mac salad, and the Loco Moco. The waffles were a little bland, though the syrup helped. The burger in the loco moco was seasoned well, but the egg was a little overcooked and could've used more gravy since it was pretty dry. Kimchee cucumber was solid though. Mac salad was ok-much lighter taste, and a bit on the mushy side with the spaghetti like noodles vs elbow macaroni-not your typical heavy mac salad but my mom liked it. Portion sizes were average for one person-not enough for leftovers. POG juice was refreshing-stronger on the guava notes. Signal coffee was good. This place is so good! I definitely recommend coming a bit earlier in the day or coming when you're not starving because there is a bit of a wait. The cool thing is you can order from your table so you don't have to wait in line! My boyfriend and I went around brunch time and we luckily found a table and the line was maybe a 20 min wait. Keep in mind since it is so good they are really busy and food does take a minute to come out but totally worth it. I had the Ube Matcha and it was amazing. My boyfriend had the POG drink and it was delicious. We ordered the Da Kine Breakfast and it was a 10/10 and we also ordered the Syd's Loco Moco and my boyfriend loved it. Saw this new spot open recently and wanted to check it out. As a party of 3, we decided to try it out on a Sunday. You order and pay inside and they give you a table number and you can sit at any table. Food took about 20-25 mins to come out. I also ordered malasadas but we were told that they ran out (this was at about 1:30pm) and the waitress refunded the amount. Food: da kine breakfast plate, da kine breakfast burrito, ube pancakes My bf had the breakfast plate and said it was nothing special. He mentioned the eggs were pretty bland. Other party member had the brkfst burrito with spam and it was about 70% rice and did not have potatoes in it like described on the menu. Ube pancakes were probably the best out of the 3 items we ordered, but it did not come with syrup when they brought it out...? I had to go inside to ask for it. They didn't have maple syrup but had agave. The pancakes were cooked well, kind of plain on its own, better with the syrup. When the food came, we had no utensils. I had a Syd's Loco Moco while my friend had a Lava Chicken plate. The food was alright. The pork in my loco moco was cooked to the perfect tenderness (pull apart soft and not chewy) but was lacking in flavor. The Mac Salad was also sadly bland. I had a bite of the Lava Chicken and wasn't a fan of this either. Definitely not the Lava Chicken that kids are raving about online. My friend described the food as "very similar to a home cooked meal" which I wholeheartedly agree with. I honestly don't get the hype. It's overpriced for the same/less quality food you can get at your local Ono's or L&L, just served on a nicer plate. Found a new brunch/lunch place to go to in Alameda. And we love it! All of their food (see pictures) were delicious! The tastes were on point compared to the same dishes that we've had in Hawaii just a few weeks ago. I like that their portion were of good size and wasn't too big of a serving compared to other eatery that tends to serve big portions but you also pay for it unnecessarily. The service was fast. From the time we order to the food being served, it was about 10 minutes. But we also went for brunch before more people came in. The inside has some simple decoration consistent with Hawaii theme. Limited seating inside (just 4 tables for about 10-12 people). They have some tables outdoor which is nice when the weather cooperates. We will be back soon. read more

I am someone who uses social media to scope out the best places so i gotta give an honest review for people that check yelp first. The menu is good, i didnt get the ube waffle or brownies which a lot of people love. But the service not the best. We got a reservation and upon arriving on time someone was sitting on our seats so we got seated about 15 minutes after. We had a large party. No one explained we could walk up or use a QR code. Self serve your water. We explored the menu then order via QR code (maybe we wouldve been served faster had we ordered in line?) it took over an hour to get our food. Drinks did come faster. But i felt confused with no wait staff letting us know. Since my friend ordered a few minutes earlier (she had two orders verse our 4 orders) she received her food about 20 minutes before us. But let her food go cold waiting for us. They also forgot to give me two sides which i didnt realize until i got home. After 50 minutes of waiting i checked on my order which they told me it depends when i ordered i let them know and then they said another 15-20. About 5 minutes before being served they let us know our food would be out shortly. While im super patient and had coffee to hold me over my brothers didnt and were getting very antsy which is why some boxed the food to go immediately and other of us ate quickly which is why i didnt notice they didnt bring out the mac salad nor the kimchi we ordered. Everyone said the food was okay and I agree not exactly worth the hype or coffee. If youre looking for hawaiian style food by all Means go for it, go with a small party, make a reservation and check on your order because they might not be following up with you. Think of it more like a hawaiian bbq that u walk up and order and more homestyle flavor. I hope the owners do tighten things up if they read it but im also trying to warn bigger parties or those who watch influencer stuff and come either big expectations. My inaugural visit was prompted by live music performers...situated al fresco in the patio dining area. The weather indeed cooperated which exacted a superlative dining experience. When I was back in town last week, I called in a large malasada order since they weren't available through the app. The staff were incredibly accommodating and even threw in an extra coffee malasada. We've had Shaka Shack 3x - twice for take out and once in person. Every time the food was great. Most recently we did a take out order for some visiting family and it was also their one year anniversary - they were generous and gave some treats as a thank you + some cool stickers. In particular, we really enjoy their poke and most recently their poke came with a tasty wasabi sauce that provided a good amount of the wasabi flavor without being overpowering. We really appreciate how their poke is much more authentic tasting than "chipotle style" poke shops. Their ube mochi treats (cake + the waffle) and the fruit accompanying the waffle was an excellent pairing - I'm not a huge pineapple fan but the pineapple in this case was a great fit. I otherwise got to try their Da Kine, Loco Moco, and Cobb Salad's and all were yummy. I liked the burger option the most but our visiting guests really enjoyed their dishes and appreciated the authenticity. All in all - I'm really grateful to have such a unique restaurant in Alameda, I haven't had another restaurant like them in the bay so hope they continue to thrive cause they definitely deserve to. read more

Stopped by on a Sunday morning for a brunch with a friend and got the kalua pork lunch plate. Mm-mmm, this is tasty!
