We ordered from here a couple days ago and we all ended up with food poisoning. I literally had one of the worst nights of my life that lasted throughout the next day. Excellent customer service. Uber Eats delivered my order- missing a cheeseburger. I was starving and angry. No one at Uber Eats helped and the driver told me the issue was at the restaurant and not the driver. I was so angry because not only was I starving, but I spent a ridiculous amount- $47 -and did not have my full order. So I called the Shake Shack Ballston very upset. The manager, Sharon, was apologetic and professional. He took the time to listen and find a solution. He offered a refund- but I wanted my burger! He told me to reorder and he'd credit the amount so I'm made while. He even waited by the phone for me to call him. He also assured me he would train his team on quality control so a customer won't experience this frustration. If I could give 10 stars to Shake shack management - I would. Finally understand the hype regarding Shake Shack. Recently stopped in the Ballston location while in Nova visiting. My curiosity is cured I really enjoyed my chick'n shack sandwich, the sandwich was perfectly seasoned and prepared. The prices add up quickly. When I stopped in it wasn't too busy. The food was really good, however $2.99 for a little case of fries seems a bit much. I was going to get a milkshake, but was not feeling the $5 for something this simple. There was no one at the cash registered so I end up using the kiosk to order which is card or Apple Pay only just an FYI. There is parking out front (sort of) if you're lucky & garage parking as well. RVA doesn't have an SS so the closest is Nova or VB. I would try it again in the future if nearby, but I wish there were combos versus having to buy everything individually. I'd say it's a solid 3 for price, but a solid 4 for taste so balance it out overall to about 3.5 stars. read more

A great NY-based chain at home here in DC, offering great burgers and hot dogs, as well as fries and shakes (don't forget a bag of bones for your furry friend if applicable). This location has never let me down with my mobile orders, before or during COVID. The staff is friendly and very quick in getting things out, and so far every item I've ordered has been correct. Meh. I walked out hungry after the gf and I ordered $30 of food. Not great, not bad. The burgers are about two steps above McD, the fries are disgusting soggy bags of oil (nasty), and the shakes are good. The best burgers in Arlington is one block over. Do yourself a favor, and make the trek to Big Buns. It is a family friendly mom-and-pop store. And they cook excellent burgers and delicious fries, plus serve beer and cocktails for the adults. read more

Amazing! Almost gave up on shake shack (went to the union station dc location on 11/10 at about 11am) horrible service, cold fries, raw burger patty. Anyways.... this location was amazing. I'm giving this Shake Shack 5 stars because given how new it was (I went one of the first days it was open) at lunch rush time, I couldn't believe how amazing the service was. The food was hot and timely. I was greeted by someone who showed me where to order. I personally love the tablet order table. It is great that you don't have to wait in a super long line to place an order with only 2 cashiers. Instead you have about 6-8 tablets to order from. I would recommend putting out some hand sanitizer though for the cold/flu season as most people won't want to touch the tablets and then turn around and eat with the same hands. As for the food itself - it was hot, fresh, cooked well. That being said, I'm not sure Shake Shack will be my go to. I loved the burger and I'm a fan of the fried-burger style. But the menu options or quality will never compare to another very popular burger joint just a few blocks away. But I will be back. And it will be a nice change of pace from the other Ballston options. Plus, I'm getting sick of the food truck options and Shake Shack is something Ballston needed. So, they're getting 5 stars from me. What a great opening team. I've never quite seen such a smooth opening (obviously my experience is limited to my one visit there). And Ballston is a tough place to open up in terms of easing into the lunch crowd. read more

Last 3 times I've been there it's taken over 13 for a milkshake to be produced with about 12-15 workers behind the counter . Never going back . And I don't like how they automatically add a tip to your order . The customer has to be responsible for removing the tip . read more

I had COVID and thought I couldn't taste anything... boy was I wrong. I ordered the Hot Chick'n Bites because I'm bored with life and wanted to feel something. What I learned is that I'd rather taste nothing than have my night ruined by these putrid, evil balls of chicken. These taste like you're eating rat poison and then holding your tongue over a candle like Jack Be Nimble. Great burger, great fries - stay away from the nuggets!!!!
