Bottom Line: Fast Food joint at Columbia Mall serving good burgers; friendly staff to. I needed a quick lunch while in the area so I ducked into Shake Shack. Shake Shack is located at the Columbia Mall but on the exterior of the mall by the movie theater. Thankfully it was easy to get to - I parked in the wide open Nordstrom parking lot, ascended the exterior stairwell and took a short walk down the sidewalk. For my meal I had the classic Shackburger - the cute name they give to a typical burger. But if you have beef with beef they also offer chicken, hot dogs and even several vegetarian option. I know a lot of people love crinkle fries but they are not really my thing so I dressed up my order with cheese. I loved the burger and the fries were just ok. I appreciate that Shake Shack has a fairly large menu consisting of the aforementioned items, plus various flavors of fries and lots of desserts including custard. For beverages, they offer Coca-Cola products, root beer and I think some teas or juices. Overall, a nice selection. It took about 12 minutes or so for my food and drink to come up. I wish they provided drinks when you paid and that they were self-service for quick refills. Service was very friendly and organized but it was so incredibly loud inside! It wasn't very busy but its kinda an open kitchen and there are tall ceilings. Add in a few noisy kids and the decibel level was too much for me so I enjoyed a quiet table on the side walk. I had the most wonderful experience this afternoon with my son. I never thought I'd say this about a fast food burger place but one person working there made our visit perfect. They were extremely busy and we had to wait in line to order which was fine. Our food arrived and everything was delicious and the order was correct. There was one person working the main dining area named Chance. He was refilling items, helping to go orders, delivering trays to tables, checking in with customers, and going above and beyond. I left astonished because I'm just not used to people being nice and jumping in to help so quickly anymore. He checked on us and everyone else. Without Chance our meal would have been good but knowing he was there happy to help made our outing so much better. Whoever this man is he deserves a raise and an award because he put the kindness back into dining out. This man needs to be in charge of operations and training on how to do business. read more

Another great experience at Shake Shack Columbia! I went with two good friends last night for dinner, one of them being my best friend who has never been to Shale Shack before! I ordered cheese fries, a double cheeseburger, and a small coke. My best friend ordered a smoke shack with a small cookies and cream and some fries. While our friend ordered a hot dog, chicken bites, fries, and a large lemonade! I forget how much my friend spent, but my best friend spent around $17 and was apprehensive about the quality. All of our food came out relatively quickly (maybe 10 minutes after we all paid. My food was amazing as always and my friend liked his too. But my best friend was a skeptic but he bit into the burger and he LOVED his food. We all agreed that Shake Shack has fresh beef. I personally think it's so fresh that I am convinced they are slaughtering the cows fresh in the back! LOL! I'm a burger lover so I'm a big fan of the hidden secret burger joints that make me feel like I'm doing something no one else is doing, but I can't lie ... I'm a sucker for a successful chain that just does it right, and that's what Shake Shack represents to me. I know in the burger world there's this little franchise beef(ha) between In-n-out and Shake Shack and while I've not had the pleasure of trying the former, due to them only being located on the West Coast(zzz), as I stated to my GF yesterday, if In-N-Out is better than this, then they are truly special. After getting served a ton of ads for it, I caved and downloaded the Shake Shack app because I have no discipline lol. Literally eat here way too much and it just got even easier... For those who have visited this location, you know that it is always busy. I never order ahead because I like my fries to be as fresh as possible and my burger oozing with cheese. I was hesistant on what ordering ahead would deliver. No pun intended whatsoever. Downloaded the app and ordered ahead for pick-up. It was super seamless and I got an "your order is ready" text in approx 10 mins. Food was packed and ready to go upon arrival, with my fears unfounded, since it was as delicious as ever. I've only had Shake Shack one time and was not too happy with it. The service was fine but I didn't enjoy the food. Today is a different story. Immediately upon entry, I was greeted by a server. I ordered the Smoke Shack burger and it was sooo flavorful and cooked very well. I loved the sauce that was on the burger and the peppers gave it an extra kick. For some reason I was thinking it would be too "heavy" because this was my lunch break. But nope, not sure if it's lean meat or not but I was still able to go out and finish my work day. Guhhh Shake Shack is SO good! I'm not a regular at this location, but I might start coming here more often. I cannot decide if I like the mushroom burger or the cheeseburger better, so I got the smoke shack burger that has the heavenly combo of both -- a portobello mushroom burger stuffed with ooey gooey cheese and a cheeseburger. These burgers are quite costly for "fast food" at $10, but man, they are good for an occasional treat. They are quite busy at dinner time even on a Tuesday night, but the line was not too long and the wait was about 10 minutes. They brought the food out to us while we waited outside - too crowded COVID-wise to wait inside. They are doing indoor dining and outdoor dining at this time! We have never been to this location before, but it is larger and more spacious than ones in DC. The tables were cleaned as soon as customers finished eating compared to MacDonald's. We had single patty and double patties of the Shackburger which cost around $5 and $8. They tasted grilled and were not greasy. Milkshakes were almost $6 and small for that price. Fries were $3, but could be shared by 2 persons unless you're starving. This is an occasional place to eat for us. It would be good if they offered combo meals instead of pricing everything separarely. 3/30/19 update - We have not returned here since summer 2018. A few changes have occurred. Fortunately, prices haven't increased. The regular fries for $2.99 are now larger in the serving container and more is provided. The single patty Shack burgers for $5.69 are charbroiled, but edges are burnt, hard, and crunchy. I personally like my burger to be cooked firm throughout. Still wished that they offered combo meals because $12 for a single patty burger, fries, and soda is still expensive for fast food. But if you're not budget conscious, no problems! read more

For a total of over $40 to feed 2 kids and 2 adults, none of which were satisfied with food outside of the shakes, it was a pretty big disappointment. This was my first visit to a Shake Shack. My good friend always raved about Shake Shack so I figured I had to check it out for myself. This Shake Shack is on the side of the mall where the movie theater and the Cheesecake Factory are located. Plenty of parking but the Columbia mall is almost always crowded. There was a queue but it moved quickly and thankfully, there was a table available. The food took about 5-7minutes and while waiting in the dining area, I noticed an attendant moving around quickly cleaning tables, removing trays, getting refills etc. it was quite impressive. Even though the restaurant was busy, it did not feel chaotic and the restaurant was clean. I ordered the crispy chicken sandwich with french fries and the original lemonade. Total about $10.50. The piece of chicken was a good size (slightly bigger than the average fast food chicken sandwich and served on a toasted bun. Although this was fried chicken, it was not greasy and the breading was kept to a minimum. When there is a lot of breading, it feels like the chicken is in a shell and then I worry about the chicken being cooked properly. I added a ton of old bay mixed with ketchup which means I cannot comment on the actual taste of the chicken. I was just so excited to see old bay next to the ketchup. This was my first time. The menu was overwhelming. We had to wipe down our tables given the patrons prior were rather messy. Luckily, they gave saniwipes out that allow you to disinfect yourself. Wish they had set the chicken to drain on a paper towel prior to putting it on the sandwich, it was a bit greasy. The fries were absolute perfection. So I got a soda instead. All fountain sodas have free refills. Only problem is the beverages are not self serve. We have a few burger places in the area, and this one is a nice alternative. This new Shake Shack is located within Columbia Town Center, right between the movie theater and PF Chang's. I went on the day after the grand opening and the line was out the door. Not a problem at all, because the workers efficiently and politely kept the line moving. Shake Shack's burgers and fries aren't my favorite (+1 IN N OUT, 5 Guys), but I do enjoy their shakes and seasonal items. This particular location had great customer service the night I went. The is the best lunch experience that I've had in a long time! I'm really a fan of amazing service, I am so glad that we decided to have lunch here on this day! My team all went to lunch together, we stand in line (which was rapidly growing) I had to wait a moment but Jordan jumped up from the back to help! How can I not like a deep fried mushroom with gooey cheese inside? I just love the 'shroom burger. If I want to splurge, the shack stack is my go to. And the fries with cheese!! So yummy. It's definitely not the cheapest burger, and not the healthiest meal, but you have to treat yourself once in a while! We have been to different locations and this is the worst. NYC super busy but food comes out correctly. DC same. Well done here is still pink and I think the burger is mostly tendon. They are usually out of ketchup. The staff would rather talk to each other. This location is local so been here several times since they opened and not much has changed in terms of service , food quality. Mostly hit or miss. It's just a shame. read more

I always order the Shack Stack because I think the savory, rich flavors of the fried, cheese-stuffed portabella mushroom goes so well with the rest of the burger. I normally don't get fries with my order, but I tried my friend's order of fries and they were surprisingly crisp on the outside and soft/warm on the inside! He did season the fries with a bit of old bay, which gave them a nice boost of flavor. The shack attack custard was so decadent, but I wish it didn't melt so fast. It had a generous amount of truffle, cookie dough, and chocolate chunks, but about half the custard melted by the time we finished our burgers. This Shake Shack is nicely lit with glass windows all around. The food also came out pretty fast (between 5-10 minutes) but maybe it's because they didn't have that many customers at the time as some of the more crowded Shake Shacks (we came at around 5:15pm on a Sunday). read more

As many times as I've seen this place I've never went in. I thought it was just like a plain old burger joint with milkshakes. Not my thing. However my daughter talked me into going in there and so much surprise I absolutely loved the burger I got. It's a double burger. The burgers were thin but cooked perfectly they were not dry. This place is delicious. Conveniently located outside of the Columbia Mall. I love their shroom burger because it's a great vegetarian option. The portobello mushroom is battered and layered with cheese and then battered again and then fried as you order it. Pairing that with some fries and a shake. Noted a gluten-free bun on the menu... it was a better bun than other places. Crunchy golden crinkle fries. Kinda pricey if you are going to buy a burger, fries, and drink ( all priced individually). But the do offer shakes, beer, and wine. You order and then sit and then they call you up. Staff was friendly and the dining room are was clean. Lots of seating. The location keeps you from having to go into the mall to eat. It is across from the movie theater. I'm learning how much I crave a burger now, because of the gluten-free lifestyle. A decent Shake Shack location. We went the weekend before Xmas and it was very busy, but they had their timing perfect. There wasn't anywhere to sit when we walked in, and plenty of people were standing around waiting for seats.
