Was in the area recently and needed to kill about 20 minutes so I planned to grab a quick and early dinner. Have never been in before so I needed more time to review the menu then ask some questions before placing my order. Since I needed to speak to someone I placed my order with them instead of using a kiosk. They weren't busy when I walked in but I had to wait a minute since they were doing something when I got there. I was a little surprised that seemingly no one was inclined to acknowledge or greet me with a simple smile or friendly look. Everyone was either very serious, distracted or something else. I ordered a black truffle burger single and truffle fries but it seems I was only charged for and received plain fries. Nothing worth complaining about since I wasn't overcharged for something I didn't receive. All of the kitchen staff were very busy in back so my order came out quite quickly. It was freshly made so it was nice and hot when someone brought it out and they also were not overly friendly. I only got a smile when I thanked them. The dining room wasn't packed but diners seemed happy with their orders as their conversations blended into the overhead music. The dining tables were cleared fairly promptly as diners left so the dining area was clean but slightly disheveled. A father and son sat nearby and I watched them enjoy their meal and shakes which they eventually packed up as leftovers to enjoy later. I didn't realize Shake Shack was a takeout type venue but since I hadn't experienced it before it brought me into their doors. The black truffle burger single was quite tasty albeit a tad messy as the truffle sauce squished out everywhere. If I had gotten the truffle fries I'm sure they would have been tasty too but I can only comment that the plain ones were fresh and crispy. I don't know if all of the Shake Shack locations are like this but am guessing they are. Although it was tasty I am not sure if I'd return. It just didn't stand out to me as someplace extraordinarily special or welcoming. I didn't notice them being especially welcoming or friendly to anyone that came in so it wasn't my imagination. Even customers picking up takeout orders or getting their food at the dining tables didn't seem to get a friendly look or greeting. The staff all just seemed too busy which is unfortunate. It would have been a nice place to bring out of state friends to for something a little different from what they're used to having. Three stars is for my burger. Kierland Commons is such a cool area. So much great shopping and restaurants. Shake shack is one of the only fast food places but it also looks like a newer store. After seeing the dubai shake all over the social media, tried their dubai shake which is available only for a limited time. It's very good but not outstanding. I love the fact that it's perfectly sweetened, not even a bit over sweet. It does have the katifi added as in Dubai chocolate. Nice pistachio flavor overall. I just wish they incorporated chocolate somehow as that's missing. Although cup is covered with chocolate it's doesn't melt or get any of those pieces. Overall definitely worth a try. The Chicken sandwich tasted pretty good. Chicken had a good portion size of white meat fried chicken with pickles, tomatoes and onions. The bun could have been less sweet so had to remove that and enjoy the burger without it. Sadly enough the hot dog just comes as is and does not include any relish so we had to request onions to be added to it. Cafe was clean and would return to try more burgers for sure. Burgers are not cheap so make sure one knows not to keep adding as they charge $2 for extra avocado etc. read more

I got a veggie burger, add avocado, and my husband got a bacon cheeseburger. We also went all out and I got the k-shack spicy cheese fries and my husband got cheese bacon fries. Got our son a grilled cheese. We had to wait quite a while for the food, we were dining in on the patio. We were disappointed to see our food was all smashed, and milkshake was served mostly melted with no whipped cream, as it was advertised with. One of the worst customer experiences I've had of late and the food was not worth any of it. Everything can be improved and this place has gone downhill. I've eaten at this shake shack at least 15 times for reference. I walked in to zero acknowledgement by the staff then waited about 4 minutes and saw you can order at a kiosk so I did. There was no sign at the register instructing guests that no one would take your order at the register. It took 22 minutes to get my food, I received a text saying my food was ready and I went up there and it was, in fact, not ready so I stood there for 5 minutes waiting. Very hungry at this point so I sat back down to eat only to discover that the bacon was way undercooked, fatty and soft. So, I took it off and quickly ate my chicken sandwich cursing under my breath and vowing to never come back here again. So we have been coming here since they opened. The burger is our favorite in town for a quick casual sit down, shakes never disappoint and the fries are solid crinkle cut not those wimpy excuses that potatoes died in vain to become at In and Out. But let's talk about what has happened to Shake Shack they are deteriorating as an establishment and in service and food quality. The building is filthy, their patio has so much food stains and chewing gum it's as if it's never been pressure washed or mopped. Their tables are delaminating and their benches have food and condiments hardened between the slats of the wood. What used to be a fun place to hang out and enjoy a moderately priced burger has now become an overpriced cliche of a California Beach vibe and it's so run down and dirty we felt creeped out sitting hoping to not get something on our clothes. The new French Onion burger should be a hit but it was so thrown together it looked like someone had a grudge against us when they built it. My wife's burger the Bacon Shack came without bacon(?). The fries didn't disappoint and neither did the shakes, but that's where the good ended. I saw a segment on MSNBC with the CEo last week, and they want to break the barrier between fast food and sit down casual but want to be considered an upscale restaurant food experience. They failed on execution, maybe it's just this location slipping through the cracks? All I know is a once favorite of my family is off the menu. Their stock price is in gutter and their restaurant dining area and patio was filthy, the food was assembled with a vengeance against any sort of customer satisfaction. It's a sad representation of a good company and once superstar in the burger scene in North Phoenix/Scottsdale. I may give the Fashion Square location a chance next week when I am down there, just to see if it's a corporate negligence or just local management. Was shopping around the commons and we wanted a quick lunch since we had big dinner plans. Surprisingly I'd never been to a shake shack before. My friends were surprised it would be my first time so even more of a reason to go. Being located in the commons this spot definitely gets busy and it also has a lot of teens dining here on the weekends which makes sense as it's one of the cheaper non-restaurant type of spots in this area. Due to the clients I can say it was a little hectic and dirty inside with so many teens rushing in and out. Not saying teens can't have manners but most tables were littered with trash and dirty by our stop around 2pm. Service here is also lacking and I would review lower had the food not been so tasty. Out of three staff we encountered only one was nice. The main girl who took our order was terrible. She seemed unhappy to be there and it showed. She rolled her eyes at almost any mistake we made in ordering or asking questions and then when we asked if a table could be cleaned for us she did one of those comments like we were inconveniencing them and being a pain, despite us asking nicely. I could just tell anything we said or suggested was going to be an annoyance to her. She made a comment like "we are really busy okay, please give us some time to get to it" which I know doesn't sound terrible but it was her tone that made it come off condescending and as if we were being pushy which we totally were not. You just had to be there. Also cleanliness should never be an afterthought in my opinion but maybe that's just me. We ended up cleaning off the table ourselves but I will say a sweet kid came by and did bring alcohol wipes to clean it after we did. He was very nice and the most pleasant staff we encountered. Then the staff who brought our food to our table, a different guy, couldn't be bothered. He set down two shakes that looked similar in color, they weren't labeled. We asked if he could tell us which was which as we ordered two different shakes and by appearance we couldn't tell the difference, he either didn't hear our question or was in a rush and just walked off lol. Pretty bad. At this point we knew this just isn't a location with nice staff and we didn't want to let it ruin our meal further. The reason I don't want to leave too low of a review is the food was actually pretty good. For my first shake shack expedience despite service being rough the food was tasty. I split a single shack burger and it was good. On the thin side so normally I would get a double but the patty was flavorful and I always love that secret sauce that's like thousand island. A decent burger for sure. The sunset lemonade was a bit sour but tasty. Loved the color of it. The highlight of the meal for me were the super fresh and salted fries. I love their fries here! I'd come back for these alone, cooked perfectly crunchy and salty. Truthfully I wish my first experience at shake shack had been better but at least I have an idea for the food now. I would say skip this location but try shake shack. This local thankfully for them will always be busy given its location and demographic so I'm sure they will be fine despite the service. read more

I stopped in thinking it would be quicker service than a sit-down place. should've gone to one of them instead It was almost 2p so no lunch rush, the two kiosks we occupied, no problem. There might as well have been a glass wall between the staff & kitchen and the main dining area. No one greeted you. One staff member finally stepped up and offered to take the order. Once I finally got my order placed it was still like a glass wall, watching the kitchen, move, slow as molasses. I didn't get my food for 30 minutes. It was almost cold but I wasn't gonna waste any more time with it. The kitchen was fully staffed. There was no reason for them to take that long. There were 3 maybe 4 orders ahead of mine. And a couple more people trickled in after me, and the staff moved no faster with now a fuller dining room. Was walking by and saw the Shake Shack, I wasn't super hungry but it was getting late. Ordered the Avocado, Bacon Burger and 5-piece chicken nuggets. Guy sitting next to me said he ordered the same burger and it's a great keto option . Got my burger and I could see why, the bun is small in comparison to the burger. According to the signs the meat is antibiotic and hormone free. Burger is cooked the way I like it, fried crispy on a flat top and was very flavorful. Little pricey but given the location it was reasonable I guess However, I witnessed the staff go into the restroom with their aprons, go into the stall use the restroom, and put the apron back on in the stall. I'm a manager of a major food chain in Texas and have a Manager's Food Handlers so I know proper protocols. This is poor health and food safety standards. This brings bacteria and contaminants from the restroom back into the kitchen. They also did not wash their hands for the full 20 seconds. This place is like the Twilight Zone of app order pick ups. No sign to even say where to get pick ups. No employees greet or acknowledge you. If you get someone's attention and ask about your order, it's never ready on time. But when it is finally ready good luck with anyone telling you it's ready. So after waiting and waiting if you can flag down an employee again guess what your order has been sitting on some shelf in the back getting cold. Yay! I did not like the way the clerk asked for a tip to be added and felt that was unnecessary given they are just taking orders. Not bringing out my food. I think that is a new pet peeve of mine since the cost of the meal has gone up and the levels of true customer service has gone down. There isn't much by the way of quick service restaurants at Kierland or the Quarter so Shake Shack it was when I wanted to stay focused on my shopping mission but really needed some fuel. The interior just wasn't that well-maintained or comfortable to sit in. Line to order was short and slow - people trying the kiosks seemed unsuccessful. All the tables were dirty but a little after we sat down someone did come around to clean them. I ordered the 'Shroom burger on a "lettuce wrap" and cheese fries, cheese on the side. The lettuce "wrap" never is... always rather a mess to eat. I wish they would take the time to fix that. I love a big portabello mushroom though, can't get that at many fast food outlets. Cheese fries were ok. I don't eat this stuff often so I wish they'd been a little more perfect - a little more potato-y and hotter temperature. My mom had a small order of chicken bites that didn't look very appetizing. They didn't have ranch as a dipping sauce option? (I think they had bbq or honey mustard.) I was glad I didn't order those. Maybe next time a 'Shroom burger on a bun skip the fries is my order. Maybe try a little frozen custard as well. read more
