Stay away from the chicken nuggets or whatever they're called. I was in recently with a friend and saw the picture of the nuggets on the menu and gave it a try: the coating on the chicken pieces looked nothing like the picture, it fell off of the pieces, and was MUCH TOO SALTY a major disappointment. Stick to the bugers and fries, silly me for going to a burger joint and trying chicken. I didn't get to try Shake Shack when I was in NYC, so I made it a priority to try it when I went to Washington, DC last week. The consensus is.. loved it! It was a little hard to find since it was our first time at Tyson's Corner, which is ginormous by the way. We assumed it would be in the food court, but it's actually outside by the ice skating rink. We got there at the perfect time because there was no line. About 10 minutes after we ordered, tons of people piled in. The downside, is it is pretty pricey. Especially for the portion sizes. We paid $49 for a 2 cheeseburgers, one basic hamburger, 3 orders of fries and 3 small shakes. No soft drinks. I had the Smoke Shack burger, which was great. It has bacon and chopped red peppers. Be sure to ask them for whatever veggies you want on it. I loved the fries, I'm usually so picky with fries, but these were delicious. The shakes were yummy, especially the strawberry. Very creamy. Our food was ready in under 10 minutes. The seating area is pretty small, so you may not always find a table if you go during the lunch or dinner rush. The only reason this place is missing a star is because of the location. If you are eating a burger, no other restaurant in the mall comes close. Moreover, no burger comes close. I'm not so sure these other low reviews know how a burger should taste. I am an In-Out die hard. When it comes to the taste of the burger, Shake Shack is number one. Be warned the burger is pricy, but it is a clear winner when you don't care about the cost of the meal. This is what I always order: 1) Not too hungry: Shack Burger with everything and cheese fries (YOU MUST GET THE CHEESE FRIES). 2) Really hungry: The Shack Stack (just trust me, it has a mushroom in it but it does not taste like a mushroom) and cheese fries (YOU MUST GET THE CHEESE FRIES). Oddly enough, I really don't care for the shakes. I find when I eat if I stick to these two strategies I leave feeling good about the food. The shake makes it too much. read more

shake shack is my #1 choice for burgers. i love the shack stack with the burger and portobello. the crinkle fries are great (cheese on the side is the way to go). i don't usually get the ice cream because it puts me over the edge but i have had it and it's very good. there are so many different flavor options. this location is a little weird and considering the fan base that they have i am surprised that there isn't more indoor seating. yes, it's great for a nice day but winter is coming and i'm pretty sure people won't be sitting outside enjoying their meal. read more

Well great food a little pricey but what really annoyed me was how they have me a buzzer. I was waiting for my food for over 20 minutes with this buzzer and it never went off so I finally went up to go check and my food was sitting down on this shelf thing. Time I got it the food was cold. No refund or anything for being negligent of my order. I've been to a Shake Shack in Chicago, and I was hoping for an equally-good experience. This was not the case. The food took a surprisingly long time for how few customers and how many staff were there, but not terrible. My poor rating reflects the level of care given by the staff. A customer in front of me took out one of the worst-assembled burgers I've ever seen from her bag and rightly demanded one be remade. I watched an employee put a new trash bag into a bin so carelessly that the body of the bag was actually outside of the bin and he didn't even notice (that's going to be really fun to sort out once it quickly overflows with garbage). I know that working in a fast food restaurant isn't great, but is it too much to ask for halfway decent respect to be put into what you do? read more

I was pretty thrilled to find out that they opened in Tysons Corner but I have to admit that the space is kind of cramped and limiting. I ordered 1 Shack burger and 1 frozen custard. It was Saturday and the line was long probably because the service was exceptionally slow. Waiting area was very crowded. Burger was nothing exceptional, quite small, and over-priced. Frozen custard turned out to be plain vanilla ice cream, not the frozen yogurt kind but the thick and cheap kind. I would have gotten bigger burger and better ice cream faster and cheaper at McDonald's. read more

I've been a bunch of times without incident, but when it's bad it's bad. I went in today around 1pm and their machines were down, the manager wouldn't come out to help so the front staff who were struggling to figure out a credit card press (the metal slider with the paper to get the number). The entire line (except me) left at this point. I should have left. They eventually figured out the computer system, got the manager's card (who still wouldn't come out) to void something on the machine then took my order. Chick'n shack, no mayo. Regular fries. Manager eventually comes out when it breaks again after me. I get my order, the fries are semi-cold. There aren't as many as normal. And I get back to my desk (15 minutes away) and there's mayo on my sandwich. The front line staff guy was nice and apologetic throughout. I even saw the screen say no mayo so I don't blame him. This place has the best burgers I've had in a long time. I even ended up ordering a second one. However, this was also because the burgers are pretty small for the price you're paying so one burger and fries wasn't enough to fill me up. A major inconvenience I found is that there is no soda fountain and you have to go up to the busy counter to ask for a refill, which I find such a chore to do at places like that. They should also expand considering they only have a few indoor tables. Although they have the majority of their seating outside, it's right next to a playground where loud and noisy kids are and it's hard to eat in peace there. read more

I've been super excited to come here. I've never been to a Shake Shack (still want to go to the ones in NYC). I had the Shack Burger and it was really good. Very moist and delicious. The restaurant is a decent size with the outside patio area...until you factor in rain, then you have 5 tables inside (yes, that happened). The wait time (during lunch hour) is loooooong. Burger and fries were pretty good - as in great b/c it's Shake Shack, but not the best SS I've ever been to. What's horrible is that it's a year round restaurant, in a "plaza", and there is interior seating for 18 total people. So, on a colder day or wet day, you have to give people the stinkeye until they give you a place to sit, or you have to take it to go... To a bench just inside the mall? It's a messy burger... You should have a table, napkins, condiments, etc nearby. We went at 9 on a Friday with 3 people. It felt rushed, cramped and awful. Only worth it if you're already at the mall and it's an off hour. For the hassle it is to get into Tyson's and to then find SS and then stare down someone for a seat, you're better off at BGR (not as tasty) in the mall or Burger 7 down Rt. 7 (which is actually as good or better). I guess they thought it would be great in good weather, and it will be, but otherwise, be careful. read more
