Went here many years ago and it was great but a lot has changed. You almost feel like a burden to the staff when walking in. No smiles, no welcome, nothing. Should have walked out at this point as it sets the tone. Burgers were made way too quick and they are thin meat patties and flavorless with too much thick dry potato bun. My 8 year old even said it was too much bread and not good...I could make a way better burger at home as it felt slopped together and very cheap. Now, the shakes - which were made by a staff member who looked as though they didn't want to be there...the shakes used to come in glass with the side metal carafe but now they are just in plastic and overloaded with whip cream and very messy. I ordered chocolate banana and there was absolutely no banana in the shake. I could also complain about the fries and onion rings...for lack of better words - I won't be back. We haven't been in here for ages, and decided to stop by after my daughter had a pretty intrusive doctor appointment. What better way to cheer up a kid than a milkshake? She had vanilla, which had sprinkles, and that made the shake all the better! Her dad had an Oreo cookie shake. I tried both of them and they were delicious. We have been in here before and enjoy their veggie burgers, hamburgers, and kids grilled cheese. The ambience is cool and diner like. They have a little patio out back for outdoor seating. My only complaint is that the menu can be a little confusing and the area you go up to order at is kind of in the middle of the walkway. We've been here many times through the years, but I'm sad to say that it seems to have gone downhill. Firstly, credit to the the person cashiering, she was kind and they'd all just gotten through a rush of a whole *ss sports team, so I understand the fluster. Our shakes were just okay, not the same quality as they used to have. The interior looks rundown, unclean and unkept. There was a rotting spot in the ceiling that appeared to be unsafe. The signs have all been taped over for prices and many items are no longer on the menu. I wonder if they've changed ownership/management. The boyfriend and I had picked up our car from the Tacoma port around lunchtime and we were in need of some food before we drove back home. We came across Shake Shake Shake, a cozy diner spot in a small neighborhood near Wright Park. Street parking was easy to find around the block, so we went in to eat at the counter. The woman in the front - I believe her name is Myra or Mayra - was incredibly welcoming and gave us a run through of their menu. I ordered the chili cheese dog (delicious with the toasted Hawaiian sweet bread and load of chili with cheese and onion) w/ tots, boyfriend got a double meat and cheese classic burger with fries. We shared some sauces on the side - the truffle aioli was my absolute favorite - and a root beer float milkshake... everything was wonderful, including the service. We even bought two more sandwiches to take home to my parents. When we make the drive back to Tacoma, we'll be returning to Shake Shake Shake! P.S. To all the lower star reviews that expected a burger be done "quickly" or they happened to take "too long" AND probably rudely let these workers know it... please excuse yourselves to a drive thru because actual food (that's not frozen or just deteriorating under a heat lamp) takes time to make. And the fries are unique, very skinny but not soggy and just yhe right crispness. The soda fountain machine left a little to be desired because half of the choices are either out or you can tell that the lines are a bit mixed, so your Coke might have a little bit of a root beer taste... finally the best part was probably their milkshakes. I don't understand the hype for this place. We ordered a Stadium burger, a deluxe burger with bacon, a coke, chocolate shake and fries. The burgers were decent, the deluxe just had the (unseasoned) patty, cheese and bacon. Had to ask for mustard. The fries were limp, almost cold. The shake was super sweet, so thick they give you a spoon which is good, BUT they give you a straw so skinny and flimsy that it's impossible to use. The place itself looks like it's seen better days, paint peeling, walls dirty. At least what we saw on our way to the open seating area. I've tried to like this place several times, hoping that it will improve, but it's finally time for you guys to either improve your cleanliness and the quality of your food presentation or move on. Inside of the restaurant is dirty. The servers are lazy, sitting around while the place is dirty, and the rear courtyard, which could be a real plus for your location, is full of weeds and dirty tables. Our family loves Shake Shake Shake. My husband loves their lettuce wrapped burgers and I love their juicy mushroom swiss burgers with bacon and tomato. Our kids love their cheeseburgers, corn dogs and milkshakes. Their skinny fries can't be beat, and make sure to work your way through all of their specialty dipping sauces (try their crispy tots too!) All employees had a sense of urgency and still kept up with great customer service. From the moment I walked in the door the vibe was right.
