Like the other establishments this place does not provide salt unless you ask for it. I'm not a salt junkie but my hubby is and asking for it in any restaurant seems odd. Only complaint - when you walk in the "host/hostess stand" is floor to ceiling (see photo) and if there is no one waiting there to see, no one in the restaurant can see patrons waiting to be seated. Today we waited over five minutes. UNACCEPTABLE They bring you free popcorn as a starter which is wonderful.....Who doesn't like popcorn? I opted for the fried calamari which I wouldn't get again. The pieces were thick and a bit rubbery for my taste. My hubby had the fried shrimp basket and the shrimp was amazing. I ordered hush puppies as my side and hubby tried the onion rings. The onion rings were good but I've had better. My hubby liked them more than I did. I was unhappy with my hush puppies.....I'm not a fan of hush puppies having corn in them. It's a texture thing with me. Without the kernels of corn in them they would've been amazing. Again, that's on me. Not everyone makes hush puppies with corn in them. We'll be back. The Shakin Crab in Manassas is fantastic. A couple of friends and I were searching for some grub and stumbled across this gem. When you walk in, your first impression is of the awesome rustic, weathered wood atmosphere and the chalkboard walls and tables with all sorts of customer-supplied artwork. My server, Michelle, was one of the best waitresses I have ever had. Great personality, very attentive and an all-around joy to be around. She took our drink orders (they have a quaint selection of local beers on tap which I love) and gave us some fresh popped popcorn from their machine in the kitchen (a SUPER cool touch) and then we ordered our food. I got the Shrimp & Crab Legs Combo, tossed in their signature Shakin Sauce - a combined blend of their other sauces - and got it Hot spiciness level.
