So delicious. We picked up a bag to go last night for dinner. This my second experience with Shaking Seafood, and the food was amazing both times. We ordered the crab legs with mussels and shrimp with Cajun seasoning. The seasoning was perfect, the crab was delectable. I won't bore you with raving about potatoes and corn, but they too were perfectly seasoned and delicious. If I lived closer I suspect I would be here way more often. My only complaint would be the lack of parking, but that's the city's fault not the restaurant. read more

Stumbled across this place for the first time on a trip to Boston with the family, and the husband and I were back the following week! The trip is worth it! The portions are great - especially considering the cost of seafood at market price!! - and the flavors are unparalleled. This is a hidden gem that has great service and fantastic food for more than a fair price. If you love flavorful foods and have a big appetite, this is the place to go. We leave happy every time. i went here to sit down & eat w my cousin. food was decent. price came out to $60 which was a little more than what we were expecting to pay but we found a way to pay it.. fast forward, im paying for my meal and was asked if i was gonna tip & simply said i don't think id be able to & that lead to us being told we could "order online if we weren't gonna tip". the service we got wasn't good at all & the attitude in the restaurant needs to be fixed. they'd get more customers & maybe tips if the service was better. read more

RIP OFF!!!! So I've been getting the King Crab legs since before, during and after the Pandemic. Although the prices has gradually increased I didn't mind paying the price because they have the best King Crabs so that I've tasted in Boston...and I've been to all of the spots including Captin Louie in Braintree. Today I call to confirm that they've actually had them because there have been times when I drove from Newton to Roslindale only to be told they have none in stock. I called to confirm at 2:30pm and told him I would call when I was on my way...sure no problem he made sure to tell me they're $51...No Problem. So when I get closer and wen to call me order in he tells me they've changed "since COvid"...something about the weight ...blah blah balh...long story short they now give you 1 leg for $51 dollars...mind you this leg is the same size it's always been...he implied it'd be COLLOSAL...NOT! SO in my opinion you pay some price less food...1 less whole crab leg!!! Their fries were crispy and seasoned light The portions match the price you're paying Cons: They don't have full bar service The menu doesn't have the option of adding on a lobster tail. Came here after work. I was surprised by how big this space is. They gave us popcorn to start. It was stale. Service was a little slow. Menu is small so it's not hard to pick what I want quickly. I ordered a pound of baby clams and half pound of shrimp in the medium shaking sauce. My bf got the wings and sweet potato fries since he is allergic to shellfish. The food was flavorful and had the right amount of spice. My bf loved the wings. The fries were crunchy on the outside but soft inside. Honestly, the food tasted great but I got food poisoning hence the deduction in stars. I felt horrible after until the next day. My cousin told me she went here too on a separate occasion and also got food poisoning. You have been warned. I am torn because the food tasted great but getting sick is not fun. read more

This review is for the delivery experience, as I have yet to dine in. (Stupid pandemic.) You know, sometimes you just crave something fried and decadent, so you order it as a treat, cheat meal, whatever... and it arrives coldish and soggy? That's not what happens here. I think this place is amazing and for the most part decently priced. I love their Cajun sauce and I especially love their mussels! To get the most bang for your buck I would just get a combo bag. One thing I would change is that the king crab legs only comes with the two legs and it costs $35. It should at least come with shrimp without the head for $40, already paying that much anyways. Another thing I'm waiting for is for them to get on grub huh and Uber eats so I don't have to leave when I'm craving it. read more

I was craving seafood and despite some of the negative reviews for Shaking Seafood, decided to give them a try. I'm so glad I did. I got two orders of Boil Bag B w/ All The Flavors for takeout. It was ready when I arrived and packed well enough to survive my 1 hr drive home. After unwrapping everything I could see that the portion sizes were humongous. (Only about 1/3 of the meal is pictured in my photo). I've had a lot of seafood boils but none so flavorful as this. This was one of the best meals I've ever had in my life. Absolutely delish!! Local friends wanted to show us how Boston does seafood and brought us here....YUM! We ordered the lobster roll, Combo bag Crablegs and Shrimp and Combo bag Lobster and Shrimp. The lobster roll was a bit bland- we asked for some Old Bay and that helped tremendously. Note- they'll charge you $1 for seasoning...not a deal breaker but kinda a bit crazy, I think. Either way, get it! We asked for melted butter, so we dipped all the seafood in the butter and then the Old Bay- totally on point!! Lobster Roll was $21 (includes fries), Crableg Combo bag was $37.50 and the Lobster Combo bag is $41.50. Pricing seemed fair to us considering the portions. Combo bags include 2 potatoes and a small ear of corn. Service was great, considering we were a group of 19. read more

If you are looking for Friday Seafood night options, Shaking Seafood is a great choice. Got my 1/2 lb mussels and 1/2 lb shrimp to go. Loved that double layered bags and nothing leaked and all neatly packaged with bib, hand wipes, napkins, paper plates, fork. I don't know which one I liked better, mussels or shrimp... I've eaten the crab legs a couple of times and they're good. Have you ever been so hungry you eat anything? That was me today.I ordered the lemon pepper wings, onion rings, corn & mango mousse. I'm not mad because I know better than to order what I did from a seafood place. But they shouldn't bother to offer these items. Only thing good about the wings are they aren't oily like so many other places. They weren't cooked all the way through and they could kick up the lemon pepper flavor a lot. The onion rings weren't even brown. I'm assuming the barely fried them. The mango mousse is really good. But over all yuck. But I do recommend the crab legs read more

So good. Ordered a pound of snow crab legs and clams with mild spice and shaking sauce to share with my wife. Everything was seasoned perfectly and full of flavor. The shaking sauce has layers and layers of flavor, lemon, garlic, but the butter shines through most. Pretty decadent despite being in a bag! Service was attentive and friendly. As a second-time customer they offered us a complimentary half pound bag of clams or head-on shrimp for going above the $50 which was a pleasant surprise. At the end of the meal you get to graffiti the booth you sit at like Gino's East in Chicago. Place was lit for a Sunday night. Big crowd but noise level was just right. Strong recommend and definitely the most unique experience in Roslindale right now. read more

I ordered from them last night and I think they gave me old crab legs that's been sitting in water for hours. The crab meat wasn't tender and moist, it was my stringy and the shell was hard to break. Which further proves that they did give me some crab legs that were sitting for a long time. The seasoning was not good either. It's like no one cares about the flavor of the seasoning and just gave me butter with garlic. The garlic noodles are usually my die hard favorite but last night they didn't really season those either. I'm usually the spokesperson for this location because when they first opened, they were DELICIOUS. Now they're going down in quality and flavor. I hope they see all of our reviews and fix it. We finally got a reputable seafood spot in our neighborhood and unfortunately I will not be returning. Why would I spend $40 on old crab flavorless crab legs when I can go elsewhere? First time ordering. I did delivery even though I had to pay TWICE the cost of the meal. I was just hankering for crawfish. ;-) I had numerous problems trying to set up an account with their delivery service. I called the restaurant (twice!) and both the man and woman who tried to help me (I'm 70!) were patient and caring even though it was probably their busy time (6pm)... although it was Easter so maybe their business was a little slow. Even so, I appreciated their time, and I was eventually able to get things done. Very, very nice people. I ordered their 1 lb. crawfish with spicy house sauce. There were probably 12-15 jumbo bugs, a 3" piece of corn, and one small potato in the bag. There was plenty of sauce, which I emptied into a bowl to use later to spice things up. I also ordered a 2 oz. cup of their super spicy sauce - used that to dip the bugs and potatoes into as I ate. I also ordered a delicious portion of noodles - they were mildy spicy and a perfect side. If you are a chilihead, like me, the spicy level of heat will be a little mild but it has a nice flavor. The super spicy sauce, on the side, was a little more potent but certainly not 'burn yer socks off' spicy hot. If you like spicy food, go for it. The crawfish were excellent, the corncob was soft and very flavorful and the potato practically melted in my mouth... in a good way. The delivery bag was all-inclusive. They put in a bib, hand gloves (though I used a pair of nitril tight gloves), a fork (didn't need), a wet nap, plenty of napkins, and they double bagged the crawfish and sauce (nice touch). Delivery was spot on - driver called me as soon as he dropped off the package so it wouldn't get cold sitting outside... again, nice! All in all, a very pleasant experience. My expectations were low. These folks did a great job and I will be a regular customer. I just won't order delivery - way too expensive! - I'll drive the 15-20 minutes for pickup. Two thumbs up! read more

This restaurant is an amazing addition to the neighborhood. My wife and I ordered takeout from here for the first time today. The order was ready quickly and delicious! They have taken the utmost precautions which is really nice to see is the current covid world were living in now a days. Came here for the first time last weekend to celebrate my birthday, since I had been dying to go and try their food. I was not disappointed! They had a king crab and shrimp special so I had that, my mom got the pound of shrimp, and my dad played it safe and got the basket of shrimp with sweet potato fries. The fried shrimp were huge and he said they were really good! My moms shrimp were delicious (she got the garlic sauce) and she really enjoyed the corn as well. I got mine with the shaking sauce, which is a combination of all of the sauces, and it was really good (though I agree with other reviews that it can be pretty salty). I especially loved the potatoes in the sauce, so delicious. Overall, the food was fresh, the entire experience is always fun (bib, gloves, working for your food), and the service was excellent. Our waitress kept coming over to check and make sure we had everything we needed, and packaged our food efficiently since we couldn't eat all of the food! I will definitely go again! read more

Tried Shaking Seafood with my family for the first time on a Saturday night. Our server Angel greeted us promptly and took our drink orders. When she returned she asked if we had any questions about the menu. We did not. The menu is very straight forward. Throughout the meal she appropriately checked in on us. My kids each ordered crawfish boil, my wife had a fried shrimp basket, I had a crab and crawfish combo boil, and we ordered some additional shrimp, well, just because. It was all very tasty and very reasonably priced. Make no mistake, this is messy eating. However, they supplied gloves and bibs. The atmosphere was a bit subdued. It was a slow night. Perhaps the snow throughout the the day kept people away. There are a number of similar concept restaurants in the Boston area, but none in this corner of the city. Give it a try. The food is good, fairly priced, and it is great to have another casual alternative that is equally good for families or those without. read more

Absolutely delicious...shrimp, potatoes and corn on the cob in a bag of spicy (you choose the heat and flavor) sauce! The only problem was that it's VERY messy...need to use the bib and plastic gloves they provide. Also the shrimp are still in the shell which makes it messier! Waitstaff , tho very pleasant, could probably be more helpful with the menu, which is a bit confusing. Portions are large, with plenty to take home. read more
