Came here on new years eve, around 4:20pm. We actually just came across the place while walking the streets towards another bakery, because Milk had already closed. When we went in, we were nicely greeted by a woman who told us to sit wherever we liked. The environment is very relaxing but with more dark neutral color shades. The walls being brown and using wood. We chose to sit at a 2 seater table. Each seating area has its own little uniqueness compared to the next seating area. When seated, the same woman who greeted us came by and very friendly she asked if it was our first time, and then proceeded to telling us about their menu and the popular items. What we ended up trying since we already had some other food, was their original waffle ice cream sandwich. We got it with salted caramel ice cream in the center. We also ordered a freshly brewed hot coffee, and the hot chocolate. It was a cold day. The owner even stopped by to ask us about how we liked the food, and even recommended items to us. He also mentioned that their ingredients, even the waffle machine, all comes from Europe! My companion for the event even said that the waffle was the "best" he'd ever had so far. Waffles! I arrived 40 min prior to closing and it was empty. Service wasn't as slow as I was expecting (a friend warned me of her negative experience) and the waffles were delicious. The waffle sundae had a generous amount of ice cream, and everything melded together perfectly. The chocolate hazelnut spread is NOT Nutella, it tastes very different, BUT it is absolutely delicious. First thing you see- very New York, cozy, few tables, interesting industrial design that pleases your eyes and your mood. Then you see- The owner- who is usually behind the counter- taking to customers, taking orders, helping with the cooking, washing dishes. Makes you realize this place is loved and cared for and has a high standard. Take a seat and start the tour. Order your coffee- they GRIND the coffee when you order it... so fresh and so yummy! Casey and I decided to share so we can try a few things. Had the waffle with strawberries and bananas. We could have added a chocolate spread and whipcream but since this was our first time there, we didnt to get a real feel for these extraordinary crepes. Second round is the savory crepe- with Canadian Bacon, Cheddar Chesse and a poached egg on top. I loved this sooo much, i was back a few days later ordering it again. Final round is desert (I know we're pigs hahaha). Frozen HOMEMADE icecream with drinking chocolate. You pick from German, White or Mint. Casey chose to go with a shot of Espresso. Some friends and I were in the area and were looking for a good dessert spot. Saw the ratings on Yelp and decided to stop in. 130+ people couldn't have been wrong as we had so much fun chilling, talking to the guy behind the counter, playing ping-pong, oh...and destroying an amazing waffle ice-cream sandwich!! I had their HALF size Sea Salt Caramel ice-cream and it was to die for. They had many other waffle dessert options to various other desserts. Really chill environment. Wasn't crowded and the vibe is very cozy and relaxing. David was very welcoming and helpful. I suppose it's easy to become apathetic about your job after a while, but he greeted me with enthusiasm and explained the menu very well - including letting me sample the speculoos and explaining what cold brew coffee was and that their waffles are made with a dough instead of batter. His recommendations were excellent and I enjoyed my waffle and Mocha Latte (which I appreciated for it's more subtle chocolate approach). There's lots of seating and it seems laptop friendly. This would be a great place to get some work down. My only disappointment is with the operating hours - I feel that they close a little too early for my schedule, which means I won't get to be here as often as I'd like, but I also realize my expectations might be really high. Coming from NYC, I love late night culture. Guess I'll have to stick to Crave Cafe for my midnight oil. Savory Food was savory, I ordered the savory waffle with Black Forest game, Swiss Gruyere, and perfectly cooked poached egg. We didn't order sweet but excited to come back and try. If you're headed to the Price Is Right TV show or another CBS show, come early and eat here. AHMAZING I have non stop been talking about this place since discovering it one hazy morning when I was craving waffles. I've lived in LA 8 years and truly can say I was so excited to find this place. It isn't your typical hustle and bustle trendy and instagram able restaurant you see popping up left and right but it is an amazing little cafe to sit quietly by yourself or with a friend and chat and order two Belgian waffles and some cofffees!!! I'll give them four star because they have such limited food items in their menu. And nothing really special or new. But why four star and not two or three? So here's what happened: I came here May 28th, 2018. It was Memorial Day holiday... as a chef, I should've given them one star because no food (no matter how good) is worth one hour and 10 minutes wait time. But as a restaurant owner, I applaud what the staff (or is he a staff?) did for me today. He said that my breakfast was on the house because I PATIENTLY waited (didn't complain whatsoever) for my food. The reason why I understand their situation is because sometimes, when it's holiday, your employees who are supposed to be there (as agreed) are suddenly just ABSENT... And what can you do, You're short of staff? The show must go on. You just have to find ways to maintain the integrity of your establishment, and that's exactly what he did. read more

I was excited to try this place. Food looks yummy in photos. However when I went to buy the food everything was very expensive for add-ons & such, which I of course knew. I also go a little Nutella snack & total came out to just under $18. Once I got my order I left as I was on my way to a personal appointment. Once I got to my destination, I opened up my bag excited to eat just to realize that 1. My waffle wasn't even in a sandwich form. I had to use my hands to cut the waffle in half to make it into a sandwich. 2. They did not even give me my correct order. They gave me turkey instead of bacon. 3. The portion was extremely small & 4. My waffle was plain & burnt. Wasn't even tasty.. just sucks that now these little small food cafes give super small portions & charge a whole price. read more

We were at The Shaky Alibi yesterday for the second time. The place is small geared towards takeout and expresso to go. But they do have a great counter where you can eat and enjoy watching the Ligie Waffles being made. A Ligie waffles features chunks of pearl sugar, which caramelizes on the outside of the waffle when baked. They have added some tables for groups of 4 to the rear. The place has a definite New York City vibe. Art on the wall, etc. When you go you will get what I mean. I had one with canadian bacon, cheddar cheese, and a poached egg (picture has been added) based on a recommendation from our friend Adam who was with us this time. Jane had the Ligie Waffle with strawberries and bananas. We all had cappuccino (in real cups) perfectly made. We recommend this for a true Belgium Ligie Waffle New York Style experience. read more

This is the second time I have visited Shaky Alibi, the first time for a latte, the second for lunch. The latte was iced,made with the Oat Milk, and was delicious. Both times the service was very prompt and friendly. That being said, the food I had was very disappointing. To be fair, I did not have the waffles which they are known for, and my friends tell me they are delicious. I had the two "poached" eggs...which were really more like soggy fried eggs, the whites were very runny and the eggs in themselves were very watery which was not appetizing at all. The fruit and sliced meat that accompanied it were nice, however the $3.50 cup of coffee was incredibly bitter, so much so that I could not drink the whole cup. I may come back and try the waffles as I love authentic Belgium Waffles, but will not be coming back otherwise. read more

We live in the neighborhood and walk over with our dog. Traditional waffle is fine and coffee is good. If they are busy with a couple tables inside get ready to wait a good long time. Decided to stop by after reading all the rave reviews. I was excited to indulge on scrumptious waffles. Upon getting seated the waitress (who was kind) told me of the drink specials so I ordered the freshly squeezed lemonade in a large. The drink that was brought to me was literally a little more than half way full of a large cup. I asked her why it was so small and she said this was the portion size her manager told them to abide by. I returned it and got a lemonade which was full to the top. I ordered 6 scrambled eggs and a liege waffle. The eggs were a bit different as it was 6 hard boiled eggs broken down into pieces. That was new to me. The waffle was incredibly small which infuriated my friend but I decided to give it a try. Now, although the waffles ARE very small, there is no denying how delicious they are. Incredible. So you kind of give and take at this place. $32 for two people getting eggs and waffles is a bit much. But if you want a cute date place to sit, talk, enjoy coffee and eat a small waffle, it's great.
