I definitely understand the hype here! We came here late Saturday morning and there was tons of seating and the service was pretty fast. I tried the horchata cold brew which was perfect! It wasn't overly sweet but still had a strong horchata taste. I have seen the name Alfred coffee a few times when I was in the LA area. I decided to finally give it a try. I ordered the World famous vanilla latte with only 2 pumps of vanilla and oat milk. It was delicious and the perfect amount of sweetness. They also sell pastries and other types of drinks there as well as merchandise for matcha making. There are metered parking on the street. I enjoyed this Alfred Coffee shop location on Melrose Place. This is the original location and first of many locations in LA. The shop is multi-level, trendy, and comfortable. The lighting sets a comfortable mood with the dark walls and abstract art. There is indoor and outdoor seating and a restroom for customers. The customer service was very good. They offer the standard array of conventional coffees including iced, cold brew, hot, and seasonal favorites like pumpkin spice. On multiple visits I tried the iced coffee and was impressed. There's also a menu of sweet and savory baked goods, bagels, yogurt, sandwiches, and such. Street parking is available and is the reason I chose this location over others. A couple visits is enough for me to say I'll visit again when in the area. read more

The things that husbands do for their wives. Wifey wanted to check out this Los Angeles Korean skincare pop-up event because the first 100 in line get a bag with products worth $200. We hopped in line just before 6am for an event that starts at 10am. Praise God we made that 100 people milestone, but for getting in line before the sun comes up, I had to grab a cup of joe to give me the energy to last for the next 4 hours. Alfred Coffee was a short jaunt from where we were waiting in line and all was right again. The shop seemed like a cool place to hang out and the staff provided friendly customer service, but the coffee I ordered wasn't as flavorful as I would have liked. Alfred Coffee is a short drive from Beverly Hills and can be found on the street Melrose Place and perpendicular to Croft Avenue, which reminded me of that 90s tv show with the same name that aired after Beverly Hills 90210. The coffee shop shares the same building as Kate Somerville and Lashify. It is next to Forte Forte, across the street from Maria Tash and Waterworks, and it's diagonally across the street from Balmain Paris. There is street and meter parking, but drive through adjoining neighborhoods to find free parking. I visited on Sunday and I saw a bunch of white pop-up tents being set up for a Farmer's Market. As I entered the vine covered entrance to Alfred, I had to walk through their first floor sitting area and then descend a flight of stairs to get to their order counter. Across from the order counter, there is a round table for seating, there is ledge top and a large wooden picnic bench table on the first floor for more seating, and there is covered outdoor seating. I liked the eclectic decor with the floral wallpaper, distressed wooden flooring, tiled wall, perched bullhorns hung above the lime fireplace, and I liked the different verbiage painted and neon lighted throughout the shop with "But first, coffee" standing out. The staff was friendly and was willing to give us a free drink after they one of the drinks incorrectly. I'm an intermittent faster, so I usually start my day with a cup of coffee and I don't have my first meal until after 3pm, so drinking coffee is essential to starting my day. Whenever I buy java at a coffee shop, which isn't too often since my Keurig machine at home is my go to, I usually order a white chocolate mocha and I'll add flavoring such as hazelnut or peppermint for the holidays. As I perused the Alfred menu, I saw that they sold mocha, but they didn't have white chocolate. Since they didn't have white chocolate, I asked what type of coffee would go with their hazelnut flavoring and the friendly barista recommended that I order their hazelnut latte. It took a little longer for my coffee to be made, but when it came out, I opened the lid and enjoyed their floral design on top of the liquid. Immediately after I took my first sip, I should have asked for more pumps of hazelnut flavoring because it was nonexistent. Even after I continued drinking the coffee, I couldn't taste any hazelnut and thought it tasted more like strawberry than hazelnut. I still finished the coffee because any type of coffee jump starts my day. Wifey wanted to check out this skincare pop-up event and us husbands have to make small sacrifices like getting up early to wait for 4 hours for free goodies. Glad Alfred Coffee was closeby for me to have my morning coffee except I wish I had asked for more hazelnut flavoring. read more

Honey... this is my new favorite place. The lavender syrup is made from scratch and it tastes like it. I was able to taste the syrup by itself and it was giving homemade goodness. I can literally make matcha at home and I do but when I want to treat myself I come here because this place does it better than I ever could. There's a lot of milk options too, so I got coconut milk. I don't think this place is very accessibility friendly because it looked like the only way to get in was with stairs unless there is a hidden elevator. The food is great, especially the almond croissants, please make sure to try it. The service is top-notch, every single person behind the counter was friendly, helpful and kind in one way or another. The ambiance is great, there are two floors, and even an outside patio. The bottom floor is where the counter is, and where you put the order. Then after that, you can either sit in the big round table right in front of the counter, or go up the stairs to sit in another long rectangular table, or even go outside where two small round tables await you. Such a cute little coffee shop with a great bagel food truck outside. We went for a collaboration with Corsx, and tried some of the Matcha drinks. The Matcha cloud cream was really good and was super creamy. The phone on top was super thick and definitely needed to be mixed in. We also got the Matcha Colada. This drink was definitely interesting because it had pineapple juice and Matcha. It was much sweeter than we expected it to be. Well, we didn't have any main issues. The thing that we noticed was the staff was kind of rude and impatient. We had some questions about the menu and the people behind us did too, and we didn't get very helpful responses. Parking was pretty easy plenty of street parking outside and they have a very nice outdoor seating area. Overall I think for the price of the drinks it was pretty expensive. It was about 7 to 9 dollars a drink, and I feel without the collaboration it wouldn't be worth it for a single drink. read more

I usually come here almost every day and order the exact same thing -- a triple shot latte. I've generally had decent experiences, which is why today was disappointing enough to make it my last visit. When I walked in, there were only a couple of people waiting. I placed my order and waited. As time passed, more customers came in and started receiving their drinks -- including people who ordered after me. About 10 minutes in, I politely asked the staff member handing out drinks to check on my order. She said she saw the ticket and that it should be coming. After another 10 minutes -- and watching several later orders go out -- I asked again. Only then did they realize my drink hadn't been made and prepared it on the spot. There was no apology, no acknowledgment of the delay, nothing. The drink itself tasted rushed and poorly made -- which is frustrating considering it's a $9 latte. Mistakes happen. I work in hospitality, I get that. But when you're a regular customer and your order gets forgotten, basic acknowledgment goes a long way. Unfortunately, I won't be returning. read more

Chocolate Orange Donut: One of the most sophisticated donuts I've ever had. The thin strands of candied orange peel just made it next level. Great against the vanilla icing and cakey chocolate donut base. Wasn't super deep fried like a typical donut, but that's ok. Strawberry Croissant: Dried strawberries on top and lots of almond paste inside. Not as fluffy and flakey as a plain croissant, but that's a fair tradeoff for all the pizazz. Herb & Toma Cheese Danish: Very herby and a little skimpy on the cheese. It was alright for a savory option, but kinda bready. Really needed to be extra with the cheese. Red Velvet Muffin: It looks like a muffin, but it honestly tasted like a cupcake. Ugh, I was so underwhelmed with my drink. I'm a suckaaa for house made syrups so obvi I had to try theirs out. After careful overnight consideration I was ready to start my morning off right with their Lavender Latte. I seamlessly ordered thru the app and made my way to Melrose. I was early for pick up so there was about a 10min wait. I got my order and made sure to mix it vigorously as you can see all of the syrup is sitting at the bottom. Took a sip and it was entirely too bitter for me. I do like my coffee on the sweeter side, so that's not to say this isn't for you if you're into that. Aside from the bitterness, I wasn't too fond of the expresso either. Tasted a bit watered down. I did drink it as I did not want $7+ to go to waste - but apart of me wish I would have asked for them to make me a different drink.
