Amazing dinner! I was visiting Bozeman last week with my husband on a work trip. He had to join colleges on a work dinner so I was on my own for the evening. I had two people recommend Shan. I was not disappointed. I booked a solo seat at the bar an was pleasantly greeted by a friendly bartender that offered great recommendations of lamb dumplings and a tasty noodle dish. I ordered both. So amazing. I highly recommend and would go back tomorrow if I found myself in town. Do not miss the opportunity to head to this little gem!!!

Came here for a celebratory NYE dinner. I'm actually still here...which should signal either two things: this place is awful or great. It's great. Had my doubts about an Asian fusion restaurant in Montana. But everything has been authentic and on par with what I expect from an authentic Asian restaurant. We ordered the $75 set menu and it was mooore than plenty. The food were diverse from curry, dumplings, steak, egg plants, duck soup, mapo tofu, etc (clearly the chef knew his Asian culture) The staff were amazing and kind. The rooms were designed and lit just enough to feel intimate, cozy yet classy. 9.5/10. Coming from LA, this type of food would cost 100+ per person. I'll come back for sure. Btw the pictures don't do it justice - I honestly didn't think of reviewing..just about digging in.

**vegetarian review** I stopped by here on my way to Yellowstone! It was a chatgpt recommendation. It's located in a very cool hipster location. Maybe cute stores around. I got the earths treasure - stir fry eggplant and the cold sesame noodle. The portions was well size and both dishes were quite delicious! Little pricy but good food. The service was also pretty fast.

Amazing Asian food, accurate tastes. Albeit expensive. We ordered braised pork belly, mapo tofu, Thai noodles, 3 treasures, Dan Dan Noodle. They were all very tasty. My favorite is Dan Dan Noodle, it was spicy and the sauce was rich, and noodle was tender. Mapo was right on the spot, exactly as it should taste. The pork belly was great, a bit hard on the lean meat but the fat melted right away. The only thing I didn't enjoy as much was the chicken noodle. The soup and noodles was good, just the chicken had some flavors that I didn't love.

We just had to go back to Shan. We wanted to try more dishes and revisit our faves from our last experience here. The service was as excellent as before. Hubby had the lamb skewers which was a special and said they were super tender and bursting with flavor. They had been braised and then grilled. We shared the Changsha Cold Noodle dish. It was spicy (not too) and refreshing at the same time. We again sat at the community table as we couldn't get a reservation until 8:30pm and we were hungry at 5pm when they opened. They're busy for good reason.

This place is DA BOMB!! It's basically a mixture of Asian fusion/Thai/Chinese goodness with the concept of tapas but just larger portions that are meant to be shared. Everything we got was so delicious!! Tamarind ribs - delicious! Tender and smoky and amazing flavor Bison Tofu - herbaceous and the Szechuan peppercorns added a nice flavor and kick to it. Pairs well with rice! Cumin lamb noodle - light, explosive flavors that is just so good in every bite Didn't expect to find this kind of place in Bozeman. I will definitely come back here on my next trip to Bozeman!!

It is nice to see that Bozeman has a Chinese option now, even if it is a modern take on some classic Asian dishes. Shan is located inside an industrial type building with other restuarants/bars inside. We arrived just after 5pm on a Wednesday with no reservation and were able to get seated at the bar with no wait. I was surprised that we got in as it was the day before July 4 and the town was busy. I would definitely recommend getting a reservation here as it does get busy. We started off with the cucumber salad. I loved the addition of the cilantro and chili oil with the large slices of cucumber. It was perfect for the warmer weather. I do feel like there was a bit too much salt on this dish. Next up was the Cumin Lamb Noodles. Again, I appreciated the adition of cilantro here as lamb noodles can get a bit heavy. I do feel like most dishes were on the saltier side and I was reaching for my glass of water after most bites. The noodles were perfectly al dente and chewy with a nice spring to them. We also got the pork wing soup and a lamb special dish. The soup had a very strong taste of lemongrass I believe. I don't personally like lemon grass so this was a pass for me. However, my husband loved this dish and said he wished it was cooler so that he could enjoy the soup properly. It would also be good with a bowl of rice. The lamb dish had pieces of meat that were super soft and you didn't even really need to bite it for it to dissolve in your mouth. It was very seasoned but again, would have been great with some rice. I really enjoyed the open kitchen concept and that the chef stopped by to chat. The dishes were on the saltier side but other than that, no complaints. I would not hesitate to make a reservation as soon as I knew I was heading back to Bozeman.

I was in town for one day. I was looking for a good Thai place, and this place came up. The restaurant is inside an office building looking place. I walked in and was seated at the bar quicky. No waiting. Nice. The waitress was nice and helpful. She gave me some ideas and helped me pick some great plates. I started with the soup of the day. Man, that was some awesome soup. Great flavor. Nice spices and vegetables. The main dish came out, and as good as the soup was, I thought I would just take it with me for tomorrow's lunch. The Khao Soi came out. I asked for a little rice for the dish. Everything was flavorful and plentiful. Good taste. (Just FYI. Everything is a la cart, so beware.) This was a huge meal for just one person so bring a friend. Great place for a date. Nice atmosphere. Good food. Great service. That's what I'm talking about. Recommend.

I lived in Montana for a month on business and this was the best meal I ate, by miles. Aggressively ordered as a 3 top of women and every dish was flavorful, balanced, and worth of a repeat order. Really taken aback by the whole experience. Can't say enough good things. If I can make it back, getting back here is a top priority. Cheers.

Duck Rice soup. Soooo good!!!! Perfect blend of spices.

The wait is not that long.. we came here as walk in's 2x on our 1week stay that started in Bozeman, went down to Yellowstone, then to Idaho for UTV riding and then to Jackson Hole WY to go see the Teton National Park. It was nice to walk around the local shops while we waited and then afterwards to work off those delicious carbs. Thin crust pizzas clean, fresh, not heavy and seasonal ingredients. The crust is soooo good. Chewy and some char. We had: Montana Burger Royale My teen son dreams about this. Yes its 27.00 and he said its the BEST burger he's ever had. I would have to agree (and we live in Austin TX where there's great cow) -the burger meat melted in your mouth -the egg dripping as you break the yolk was perfection. The bacon so juicy, the brioche bun (that was the winning touch) We shared: Hot Honey Pizza- so good 9/10 Spicy Burrata- also great. 8/10 Mac n cheese- that was the only miss. Way under seasoned and the white sauce seemed to get sucked up by the pasta so the dish was super dry. 3/10 Frites and Fondue- fries were great. Thick cut with finely shaved pecorino. Could have used a heaping more of the shaved cheese. -the fondue was ok, seemed still under seasoned or just not creamy enough? I'd swap that for some roasted garlic with the truffle oil. 6/10 Local brews and ciders were great! 9/10 Huckleberry Cheesecake 9/10 save room for this bad boy. We split it between 4 people. Not too sweet. Tart and delightful! The world cup was on the TV so it was a hopping place even as it rained during a late June evening. Parking garage nearby is free for 2hrs so thats cool! We went up & ordered right away. This (our 3rd stop in Montana) was the 1st place to hand us the 3 stamp card. We, not being from Montana, looked at it as if he'd handed us a random appendage from his body, no doubt. All we were trying to do was pay for our drink - ha. His explanation was "that's our tab, if you decide you want another, bring the card up." We tried to explain that we didn't want another. We were only having one & we'd like to pay. He told us to hold on to the card & pay after we were done. We went out back to the permanent food truck and ordered Kels kryptonite, the pretzel & a chicken & Belgian waffle w/ hot honey. It took about 20min. While we waited, we sipped our beer and flipped these cards over looking for clues... then we took to Google... then we spied on other people. Maybe we would have enjoyed the beer more if we knew what these cards were for and what the heck we were supposed to do with them! Fossil Fuel IPA scored a 3.25 from Kel n/a from me The Capone Oatmeal Stout a 3.5 from Kel 3.25 me Both on the average side with no major knocks or stand outs for features. The food was fresh & tasty - we wrapped up & went inside. We were asked for our cards, our book was stamped, we paid for 1 beer & went out still lost... At our NEXT stop, the barkeep explained that by Montana law, there's a 3 pour limit & a lot of larger places uses cards to track pours (aha!) & a strict 8pm cut off for taps - which we came waaay too close to!
