Everything was good and had decent flavor. I'm still looking for my go to spot in concord. We did encounter a homeless person who tried to attack us in front of the restaurant on the sidewalk. The worst chinese food Ive ever had. The smell of the "Shan Shan Special" was repulsive. The meat smelled spoiled and somehow like lighter fluid. The fried rice was dry. I had previously only come to this restaurant for lunch specials but decided to give it a go for a dinner. On a Monday early evening, we were the only ones in the restaurant when we arrived (a few more people arrived after) and placed our order. We went with cashew chicken (a base dish used to evaluate most Chinese restaurants), garlic sauteed spinach, and Peking-style spare ribs. The cashew chicken was good and the sauteed spinach was a huge amount of spinach. The spareribs were just right - juicy and the right sauce (not too sweet). Service was super efficient - our waiter actually boxed up the food at the table for us. Overall, we'll be looking to come back here to try some other dishes. read more

I've been coming to Shan Shan Low with my grandma since I was in high school (that was a while ago) so I'm probably a bit biased, but their food has only gotten better I think over the years. My husband and I were in the area after a vet appointment down the street and decided to get takeout. We got the Chinese sausage fried rice, garlic fish, and an order of hot and sour soup - the portion sizes are pretty generous for the price and the food was ready in less than 15 minutes! I have been coming to Shan Shan Low since I was a teenager with my parents in 1991. I am now a parent of three teenagers. I can certainly attest to Shan Shan Low as being one of the best Chinese food restaurants around the Concord region. My husband and I stopped by last weekend for an unexpected lunch date. We ordered the Mangolian beef non-spicy which was cooked to perfection! The beef was tender and very flavorful. Also, we ordered chicken chow mein which was very good. As for the service at Shan Shan Low I would say that they are hospitable the servers are attentive and aware of serving the patrons. The restaurant has been around since 1991 so the interior appearance of the restaurant is very outdated. Came here on Valentine's Day . Spent about $100 dollars. Food was good and the waiter was amazing he was sweet and attentive! He packed up our food and I requested a bit of their home made spicy oil. When he went to the front to retrieve a small container of it the older man at the register snatched it out of his hand and handed him one generic packet of sauce. I could tell the waiter was caught off guard by that ..the old man is probably the owner. He's a jerk for doing that. Why have containers of it if you aren't going to give them out??? I ordered the Peking spare rib and a salt and pepper fish fillet. The spare rib was one is the worst I have ever tried. The sauce seemed to be just ketchup and vinegar. The taste was pretty far off from your typical Chinese restaurant, and the dish was overall soggy. The salt and pepper fish fillets were actually pretty good. The fish fillets were cooked well with good flavors. Also got two orders of white rice, surprisingly the steamed rice was dry - might have been precooked for a while. We got some variation of sweet and sour pork and it is what it is. Fried pork drenched in sauce. It wasn't terrible. Not great either I also got to try moo shu pork, an Americanized version. I read somewhere that it's a real dish from northern China but Americans added the little wrap for it, which was actually my favorite part. I really liked it to be honest.
