I'm not sure why this place has the reviews it does. I think it's pretty solid overall. The place is your typical restaurant in a plaza that's always hustling and bustling. There is space if you'd like to sit but it mainly a delivery and carry out ambiance. They get the food ready in about 15 minutes or less each time and it's pretty decent in flavor and quality. This is our go to Chinese restaurant when we are in Homestead. We've tried a few others and they weren't so great. We can count on Shanghai and Tokyo for decent tasting food made with fresh ingredients. Today we had the sesame chicken and general Tso's Chicken both with pork fried rice and the Mongolian Beef with vegetable fried rice. Everything was tasty and fresh. Servings are large and plentiful. This was more 3.5 stars but I'm not able to do it. That said, the ribs were really good. Traditional Chinese ribs with a lot of hoisin. It was hot, great texture, and very good. The pork fried rice could have used bigger portions of pork. They were tiny. But everything was very hot even though I ordered delivery. Looking forward to ordering again. read more

Today we decided to stop by and try this restaurant for the first time after living in this neighborhood for the past 5 years. We normally go to a different restaurant that's about 15 mins from our home but they are normally closed on Mondays so we chose to order from here. I order the chicken lo mein dinner with pork fried rice and it also includes an egg roll. As soon as I stepped outside the restaurant I bit into the egg roll while walking to my car and realized that not only was the egg roll soft and mushy but it also tasted like vinegar. I immediately went back in and informed the 3 staff members at the front and asked if they could replace the egg roll I had in my hand for a new or fresh egg roll. At first they acted as if I was asking for a different type of egg roll but I repeated to them that I just wanted a new egg roll since mine was mushy and not crispy at all. When I showed them the egg roll one of the women immediately got defensive and asked why the egg roll was split in half as if I didn't just tell her that I had tasted it and then split it in half to see the inside (it tasted like vinegar so I wanted to make sure I hadn't bit into anything strange). She then mentioned that next time not to do that but then again how would someone know if something doesn't taste right if they don't taste it lol?? Would they have resold the same egg roll if I hadn't bit into it? Like what would be the reason for her to tell me next time not to break the egg roll in half??? They did replace the egg roll with a new one but they were rude about it and snatched the egg roll out of my boyfriends hand when we asked where we could throw the previous egg roll away. My boyfriend then informed them that decent customer service would have been to simply just replace the egg roll without having to be rude. Below I added a picture of the new egg roll I received wish sadly is also soft and mushy in the center. Btw the new egg roll I received was also just there ready to go since they just grabbed it from an area and gave it to me. Unfortunately I would not be going back to this restaurant. Now that I have looked at the prior reviews I do see that many are mentioning the bad customer service. I wish I would have seen them before actually going there. read more

This place was my to go to spot for Chinese for a couple years. Unfortunately, it only took 1 bad experience to make me never go back again. The lady at the front counter is truly one of the most rudest individuals I've come across at a restaurant establishment. I placed an online order-as I always do, during lunch hours. When I went to pick up my order, she realized that it wasn't prepared, as she was just grabbing the paper printed out when I asked for my order. She said if I still wanted to order, that I'd have to pay dinner combo pricing due to lunch hour now being over. I said, I'd be willing to wait for the order even though it was their mistake, suggesting for them to honor the lunch pricing. Front counter lady, said NO!...TAKE IT OR LEAVE IT. I gave it a try because it was in the area and the reviews seemed decent. I spent almost $16.00 on just wings and rice. it was a tota waste. Everything was super oily and the wings didn't seem fresh. The shrimp fried rice was not good at all, and only included 5 pieces. When I bit into the chicken it was yellow and the was enough for me. Was wanting just a simple soup and something near the house. Went straight to Yelp to see my options near home. Right away Shanghai popped up. I knew it was a Chinese takeout with the usual wonton and egg drop soup but I had no idea they had a Ramen available. So I called in to check out the options. They had chicken, beef, pork, and shrimp available. They warned that the broth it came in was spicy, but I knew I could handle it. OMG, this soup was delish. The broth was rich and spicy and the seaweed gave it a balanced saltiness. I chose the shrimp and the flavors went all well together. I enjoyed every last bit to the last drop. Now that I know they have Ramen tasty soup, they will definitely be seeing me alot more. The quality in the service of this place has gone down tremendously. The woman they left in the front or super rude. I've been coming here for over 10 years and it's been my favorite spot till now. She will hang up phone before you even finish and always have an attitude. She's made multiple mistakes when I asked for a small size and charges me a large. I've purchased multiple times and have always been very pleased so when I placed my order and found pork in it I assumed when I called that they would apologize. I called and was told to drive back and they would make me a new one when I explained I don't eat meat and biting into a piece of pork made me sick so could they just credit my account so at least my kids could order at a later date since I just spent $90 on all the food today. The lady was very nice on the phone. My food was delivered roughly the time it said it would be on yelp. The delivery guy again was super nice. The food was delivered with the heavy stuff on the bottom and cardboard in between so one food did t crush the other. They have me a lot of sauces and fortune cookies which was nice. Very overpriced chinese food. For 2 dishes (lo mein and mein fun) with no sides or extras, it was $38! One of the items in our order was the chicken mein fun. It arrived with absolutely no sauce and very little chicken. We only got 2 soy sauce packets and 2 duck sauce packets for the whole meal. The fortune cookies were VERY stale. It's so hard to find a good Chinese place by my house. Their food was yummy! And also great portions. I had the orange chicken which was very good, not so orange-y, just right. Although I asked for mild spicy and there was none, it was still delicious. We also had the Mongolian beef, it was ok, wouldn't order it again. There was more onion and sauce than actual meat. I verified my receipt said honey chicken, they just put the wrong sauce. It was disappointing cause I don't like sweet and sour so I had dry chicken with my rice. The rice wasn't bad but a little low on ingredients. Didn't really have much egg and sprouts like Chinese rice normally has.
