Ordered takeout of Crab and pork soup dumplings, Shanghai shao mai dumplings, beef noodle soup and garlic cucumbers. The only items I enjoyed were the soup dumplings and cucumbers. There was something about the flavors of the shao mai I did not like but couldn't put a finger on. The beef noodle soup broth was tasteless and oily and on top of that I got less than a pint for the whole order. I would not return.

Really good Shanghai food here! It's a classic in the area. Soup dumplings is on the sweeter end of the spectrum but it was very enjoyable! Love their spicy chili oil - strong n spicy kick for sure!

Tried this place recently for the first time and it was really good. The soup dumplings were delicious. I had the chili chicken which was way too spicy for me but I managed. Overall a great place and we will come back.

Food Uber Eats delivered from Shanghai Restaurant. I did try their typical Chinese soup dumpling, but only a few times, since the dough of soup dumpling was too thick. Tried : 1) Shredded Eggplant w/ garlic - Not what I was expecting in the it had too much Chinese spices - I thought I tasted "Mala"spice. Some may actually love this, but that just personally not for me. I was expecting a very regular stir-fried eggplant with garlic hahaha. The chili sauce it was cooked in was rather watery. 2) Sweet & Sour Pork Ribs- Again, not what I was expecting. Pork ribs were good, on the ribs, meat tender. But the sauce was more soy sauce marinate based, rather than Sweet & Sour. Both dishes came with rice.

Love this place as always. Price did raise a bit because of inflation, but still reasonable. Noodle/Soup dishes are heart-warming and so fresh to have in a cold day, the sauteed/fried dishes are simple and scrumptious, and the pork soup dumplings have slightly thicker flour than other local soup dumplings... I also crave their Chili-Fried Chicken w/ Sichuan Pepper (now $14.95) from time to time. Come here for some authentic Shanghai food!

I was craving some Chinese food in NJ and stumbled upon this restaurant. It's a bit small inside, but they have a few outdoor tented tables as well. We were seated quickly on a Sunday afternoon at 1PM. We ordered the sweet and sour pork ribs, string beans, soup dumplings, and pan fried dumplings. The soup dumplings weren't my favorite. The dough was a bit chewy and dry, and they had minimal broth, but they tasted okay. The string beans and pan fried dumplings were pretty good. The sweet and sour spare ribs were so tender and flavorful! The only thing I'll say is that the food is a bit on the oilier side, but I didn't mind it too much. I'd definitely come back best if I'm craving Shanghainese food!

Gonna miss this place, Simon is the best! Ordered today at their last day of operation. They will be back in February after renovations and a new format. I wish them the best for 2025 and on.

Really nice food here - can't complain about a hole in the wall that feels pretty dingy even by Asian cafeteria level standards. But they can make some good soup dumplings and that's worth coming here for alone. I mean it's not like Ding Tai Fong level (in Asia specifically) kind of stuff but it's about as good as you'll get around this area (and in NYC in general). The honorable mention item though goes to the hot oil spicy dumplings as the flavor is very authentic and has a great kick to it. The scallion pancakes here were kick ass though. It was not artery clogging greasy shit like what you get in the local takeouts and it had an almost airy quality to it that made it taste super awesome. This is a must get. The vegetables we ordered were fine and the regular dumplings were okay. But the items I mentioned above are the must gets (the wonton noodles were ok but it's the stuff up top that's worthy of stuffing your face with). Generally speaking really nice food and the folks here are pretty busy but attentive. If you want decent soup dumplings, come here!

Small place with parking in the back. Met a friend for lunch on a weekday and we were the only guests in the place. We were greeted right away and served pretty quickly. Tried the spicy dim sum, pork belly and reg dim sum. All were decent. I will definitely return to try other dishes. Very plain with indoor and outdoor seating. Not fancy by any means but definitely hit the spot for a quick meal. Good prices, parking in back and good menu-they sell frozen dumplings for take out but my friend described them as meh. Will update review upon my second visit.

Tried the crab soup dumplings, veggie steamed dumplings (see photo) and dumplings in spicy sauce. Soup dumplings are okay. Dumplings in spicy sauce are good, they are more like wonton, i like the spicy sauce. The veggies dumplings wrappers are undercooked and dry, the fillings are nothing to rave about. Not going back.

Top notch authentic Shanghainese cuisine! Might not be the most aesthetic spot but the food is really great. Shanghai pork soup dumplings ($8) - High quality classic option Shanghai shao mai ($8) - Delicious including sticky rice and yummy mushroom flavor inside Dumplings in spicy sauce ($8) - Indeed spicy which made my tongue/mouth tingly but good flavor Sweet red bean buns ($7) - Nice and fluffy and tasty Shanghai beef pan udon ($10) - Great as well, udon was deliciously chewy Prices were all very reasonable for the quality and portion sizes. The place is not the most glamorous but that just adds to the home cooked meal kind of vibe. The owner was friendly and the service speed was fast. There was no wait on a Friday night but there were a decent amount of people dining in. In addition to the indoor seating, they have a nice outdoor seating area with a tent kind of cover over each table. The restaurant is located several blocks past the busiest part of Main St, so it's a little bit away from the action. Overall, if you are looking for a low-key but tasty authentic Shanghainese restaurant in Fort Lee, I would highly recommend Shanghai Restaurant!

The food at this place is some of the best Shanghai cuisine that I've eaten outside of Shanghai itself. I absolutely love coming to this place... And every time I bring one of my friends or family, they agree. While it may not look like much from the outside, don't let it's appearance for you. Like I said, Shanghai restaurant has some of the best food and best service around. Everyone is friendly, the menu is super tight, and you won't regret ordering everything on the menu. Some of my favorite menu items are: Wonton soup Sautéed bok choy All of the Dumplings (homemade) Shredded eggplant and pork Scallion pancakes Order everything... Try everything... Enjoy everything Yum!

I remember being introduced to Chinese food other than takeout and I'll never forget the crispy chili chicken I had in jersey city. What a blend of spices! If I were to choose just one food forever, I'll get by with chili chicken and rice! And now I don't have to drive so far to get it! Chili chicken 5/5 Pork soup dumplings 5/5 Beef scallion pancake 5/5 5 parking spaces in the back. Outdoor seating has tents and a fan.

Awesome find in Fort Lee Scallion Pancakes, spicy dumplings, and Sweet Red Bean bun all super delicious! Will definitely be back!!

When do they do dim sum?

They don't really serve dim sum like you would find at a Cantonese restaurant but they have a few plates you would see at dim sum like shrimp dumplings, sticky rice, and sweet buns. They serve these dishes all day.

The carts came out quickly, all serving fresh, hot dim sum. Almost everything was delicious. We got hargow, shumai, leek dumplings, shrimp with bacon, rice rolls with fried dough (you have to order these, they don't come around), the char sui soh were excellent, this is a must order. Get here at opening so you don't have to wait! A great place to enjoy fresh dim sum.

THE FOOD ----------------…read more+ Solid overall dim sum with a few downers. ++++ Sui Mai, pork spring rolls, chicken feet, spare rib tips, steamed sticky rice, shrimp rice rolls were very good to excellent. ---- Shrimp dumplings were a bit dry, beef tripe was too gamey for my tastebuds, deluxe steamed egg custard buns bun was a litttle too hard and the egg was too runny, coconut pudding's texture was not "jello-e" enough. THE SERVICE ------------------- + All of the cart ladies were very nice. + The waiters/waitresses take care of your requests (e.g., cups of water, tea, utensil asks) very quickly. THE SURROUNDINGS ------------------------------- = It's a bit tight inside, but enough space to walk around. - Dining room is pretty small. - No private parking lot and street parking tends to be challenging during peak dining times, especially during weekend dim sum. RANDOM OBSERVATIONS -------------------------------------- = On weekend mornings/early afternoons, be prepared to wait for a table (for a longggggggg time) unless you're here at opening. They have a kiosk at the front door now so that you can put your party and name down and come back when your table is ready.
