Loooove shangri la! Sashimi bento box and delicious sangria Go to sushi in Lodi! Best bento box

Chirashi 01/2025
Siu M.

From the Yelp reviews, I didn't see too many people order chirashi at this restaurant so I decided to try it. I am so glad I did! It came out pretty quickly and the portion is so generous. The fresh thick slices of sashimi were more than enough to fill me up. The sushi rice was lightly seasoned and went well. At the end, I only ate about half the rice (because I usually eat smaller than average portions) and had to take a break before stuffing the last 3 pieces of sashimi in my stomach. The price was extra reasonable and certainly more than enough food for me. The agedashi tofu (not pictured) had more of a panko breading (instead of a light wet batter) and this made it a little heavier of a dish for me. My friends ordered a handroll, a bento box, and a singapore fried noodle. The singapore noodle was also gigantic and delicious, according to them. Overall this was a great place for a casual dinner. In this little town of Lodi, this was certainly a surprise find.

So for my nieces birthday we went here to celebrate, large group of about 24 people. It was a Friday night, but they let us make a reservation and sat everyone down quickly as they came in. With the amount of people in our group the service was on point! Quick to bring out the food, drinks, refills, anything we needed. The food was amazing, I had the teriyaki chicken bento box, so I got a little bit of everything, perfect amount of food and reasonably priced. Others had sushi rolls, the volcano roll was the favorite. Some had prawns, edamame, a little bit of everything. No one complained about their food, including the kids. Place has nice decor, full bar, and clean. Will definitely be back, and highly recommend. My 9 yr old niece told me "you need to give them a good review." And I sure am lol

Warriors Roll - so good! One of the most popular

It's such a beautiful day that we decided to drive out to Lodi from Elk Grove to try this restaurant and I'm glad we did because everything we ordered was so good. We ordered the fried agedashi tofu which was so good I didn't even get a picture lol. The tuna ceviche with wonton chips was 10/10. You can also order this as a sushi roll. The Warrior roll and Lion King roll were also really good because they were really flavorful. My favorite thing about the rolls were that they were cut perfectly to the size that would fit in your mouth. I hate it when I have to bite into a sushi roll lol. The service was also 10/10 as the staff were attentive and always checked on us with everything we needed. This is important for us because we have two young children who always need SOMETHING. If you know, you know. We got the crème brûlée for dessert and the top was torched which my daughter loved because it had a bit of the crunchy sugar. Perfect for her to run out that sugar around downtown Lodi on a beautiful Saturday. We will definitely be back!

We used to dine here pretty often many years ago, management fell off a bit then. After some downtown festivities we decided to grab a quick dinner. We can definitely do without the rolls, it was mediocre for both Dan Dan noodles was actually the hit!!! It was extremely delicious! Service and staff was attentive, they were busy but we had two young gentlemen check on us frequently. Restaurant is a bit dim.

Ambiance was so so, more like a bar than Japanese Resturaunt. 2. Service was poor. 3. Food was fair, we had several rolls (too much rice) and a bento. I do not consider this authentic Japanese cusine. 4. The things that made me give this rating were that they calculated the tip on the total that included the sales tax and CVC fee, this is not honest. They also charged a credit card fee of 3.84%, first they do not pay this high of credit card charge to AMEX, also why not roll this expense in the price of the food and beverage. Very few places that charge this fee that I am aware of.

We were the only customers and got there around 6:30. My only critique is that there were a lot of employees and we were the only patrons, yet our two servers did seem distracted and forgot a couple of things throughout the meal. I'm giving grace for that because it was a very slow night and they were probably just chit chatting in the back. I would've had no issue giving this 5 stars if it wasn't for that one small thing. Service otherwise was very friendly and quick The food was fantastic! As a Japanese American who's been eating sushi since I was in the womb, I have to disagree with the yelper who recently said the rolls are too small and too expensive. The rolls we ordered were huge and the fish was very fresh and on par with M sushi and Komachi. Is it a luxurious loungy city style vibe? No. But the food is great and the prices are fair imo for the extremely fresh and delicious fish. We ordered two bowls of miso, salmon tataki roll (I only wished for more onions!), the spicy crunchy scallop roll (my new favorite roll in Lodi), snow crab CA roll, and I think the last one was a dragon roll with unagi. They were all great. We were def pleasantly surprised by Yume and will absolutely be coming back.

Pay yourself in sushi! Here's why…read more.. See, I've been told by an esquire, that when you budget, you pay yourself first, before the other required expenses. Sooooo, I pay myself with sushi sometimes. This is acceptable, yeah, cuz either I try to save $25, which would eventually get spent anyway, or use it on something valuable. The value of sushi or sashimi with vegetables, is that it contains your alphabet Vitamins A, B, C, and D; plus, the greatly beneficial Omega-3. In addition to those benefits, getting a bento box combo with chicken gives you more protein for building muscle. This array of vitamins and protein sources provides satiety. It's an ideal meal for gym goers and maybe health enthusiasts; or like me a part-time dog walker. Alright, now that you've heard me out and possibly have known all this before, then, yeah have brunch, lunch, or dinner here at Matsuyama. They're conveniently located around the corner from the gym. Perfect for you! ...and also, it beats having to look for a different parking space. Just walk, you know. The shopping plaza has a great coffee shop too. Once they open, it's nice and quiet so you get fast service with individualized attention. They're calm and check on you frequently enough. Simple conversation, and a peaceful meal; peaceful like it would be on a pine mountain (Matsuyama).
