We were at work and craving something different. One of my co-workers recommended this restaurant. We put in our orders. So yummy. I had a favorite Vietnamese restaurant back in California, and I missed having Bún Thịt Nướng. The meat was seasoned well, the vegetables fresh and crispy. Noodles weren't starchy. My friend and I went there today. It was the worst service ever. Waited 15 minutes for a tea. Waited 30 to 40 minutes and still no food. The excuse was they had to make rice, really. She said they had to make the rice, there were only three other customers there at the time. They were served, I don't know how long they had to wait . I've eaten at this place, no lie, 20 times in the last ~2 weeks. Absolute *TOP TIER* food. It's a small operation, I always get my food to go, but the girls that work there are the sweetest, and somehow everything is always perfect. Best chicken wings in Pensacola, bar none. What a great little restaurant. Just what we need on the west side! I had a delicious bowl of Pho. A very generous portion. My friend had a serving of pork fried rice. Again it was very generous and she said it was delicious. My friend and I shared an appetizer of 4 egg rolls. I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 because the egg rolls were very greasy and overcooked. They looked and tasted as though they had been cooked and reheated several times. I'll skip them next time. The service is outstanding. My first time (and subsequently will be the last time that I' will dine here. If you look at the reviews that I've written previously, I seldom if ever post negative reviews. I had heard good things about Blazin Casian and looked forward to trying it as other reviews were mostly favorable, They describe themselves as Vietnamese & Cajun cuisine, so just returning from 4 days in N'awlins, I planned to sample their Vietnamese food. So, I ordered the Bahn Mi sandwich only to be told they were out of bread. They had the French loafs used for their Po Boys but not the bread for Bahn Mi, Newsflash Blazin Caisan , you are claiming to be a FUSION restaurant, why not do a Bahn Mi Po Boy? So I punted and went to the Bo Luc Lac or Shaken Beef rice at $18.95. Their less expensive Vietnamese plates allowed you to add an egg roll for $1.50. However, they would not allow me to do that on this more expensive dish. They will sell four egg rolls for $6.99 but I was eating alone and not trying to put on an extra 15 lbs. I argued my case, but talking to the guy behind the counter was like trying to hold an intelligent conversation with a rock. That was the rule and he was a rule follower. Hopefully management appreciates this as it will cost them a customer from EVER returning to their establishment. The meal was to go and was in a small Styrofoam container that looked like a plate that should be $12, maybe $15 if they had thrown in an egg roll or two. They described the beef as beef tenderloin. It was tender alright. If you took a nice filet mignon and poached it that would be very similar to what I was served at almost $20. There were no overpowering spices flavoring the meat. This is because there were no seasonings that were even evident on the poached tenderloin. To be fair though the fried rice was excellent. It was very well cooked and seasoned and was the perfect texture. I will go as far as to say it was the best $20 fried rice that I ever had, Granted, the only $20 fried rice that I've ever had but it truly was very tasty. Not sure what happened on my visit to make it so different from the other reviewers. I would give the food another chance thinking maybe it was a bad day or that I ordered the wrong thing. Even though it was what I originally wanted to order. BUT to get treated that poorly and have management that can't keep inventory stocked and calling your restaurant a fusion with no combination of Vietnamese dishes infused into a cajun style. I find their business model to be piss poor which was exactly the same way I was treated on my visit to Blazin Casian. read more
