Unkind, rushed, poor quality. My child's first haircut was a horrible experience here. We showed up at our appointment time and our child refused to go in the store at first. Finally when he got it in we crying (He is 4 and I've given him haircuts up to this point.) instead of kindly checking in with the child, this lady at the front desk scolded us for not scheduling a first time appointment. A lovely lady offered to switch times with one of her two children. The front desk lady said "no". We finally got out child to look around but he still refused a cut. That kind lady's son ended up taking our child's appointment time anyway. None of the bribery toys, games, ice cream, movies, nail polish, etc. could get my child to go. So we gave them a second chance and rescheduled for later that week. We showed up before the appointment time. They sat him in a chair and he waited to 20 min to get his hair cut. She couldn't figure out how to get the video game to work either. When the lady finally started she rushed and cut his ear and nicked his neck! I WILL NEVER RETURN HERE. Poor service and a horrible $50 experience for a 15 min haircut. Cutting hair is one skill, managing a child is an essential skill at a place like this . Disappointing. Over rated. I brought my kids to get a cut during the start of summer. As the business was getting up and running there were some small glitches that were getting figured out. Nonetheless, my kids got a good haircut. I called and spoke with the manager, Maghis who went above and beyond to ensure my kids experience was beyond expectations. My kids got a redo today and Maghis personally cut and styled my kids hair. The amount of time to ensure hair shape and comfort was amazing. Maghis is really great with kids and there were lots of smiles from my kids and Maghis I am glad that we could try Sharkey's out again. The value, quality, and kid centered approach is what makes this salon stand out. Also, the hair washing with massage and chocolate conditioner for kids is a plus. The salon logi is finally up and it is so fun to see. A plus is the variety of entertainment for kids from Xbox, watching Ms Rachel to Stitch on Disney plus. I love seeing families together celebrating their kids first haircut or second haircut. This vibe feels different than Supercuts or Snapdoodle. Both are great but here it reminds me as if my own auntie cut hair professionally and I'm at her home. There's something culturally comforting about this. This is what stands out to me. I hate to leave a bad review, but I took my 8-year-old daughter here for a haircut today and was really disappointed overall. This might be a cute place to take a very small child for a first haircut, but definitely not great for elementary-aged kids. Their website gave the impression that it was also suited to older kids (they advertise a "tween beauty lounge", etc) but what they actually offer is very basic. The service package we booked included wash, cut, dry, and a mini-manicure for around $45. The first issue was that the staff just weren't very welcoming or friendly. We had to wait a bit which was totally fine, but they just sat my daughter in front of one of their advertised tv's and then left without helping her figure out the remote or how to find the show she wanted. I tried to help her but we couldn't figure it out so she just left it as-is. Kind of a letdown when this is something advertised on their website, but whatever. Anyway, the stylist came over and just seemed unfriendly from the start. I think, especially when working with kids, warmly saying hello and introducing yourself goes a long way. The vibe here was more "alright, what do you want?" with minimal effort to make my daughter feel welcome. The thing that really bothered me was that, after shampooing my daughter's hair, the stylist was struggling to comb it out. It is thick hair and yes, can be tough to detangle, but we had brushed it before we came. I was watching from the waiting area and noticed the stylist kind of huffing and complaining to the other staff about my daughter's hair, saying she couldn't find a brush that would work on this hair, etc-- so, I went over there and asked if we should go elsewhere. I thought the attitude was inappropriate and honestly, it was weird that she couldn't detangle moderately thick hair. At that point I had realized this was definitely not the experience we were looking for, but it seemed too late to just leave. Anyway, the stylist seemed surprised and said oh no, it's fine, her hair is just so hard to comb. I asked if she had conditioned it, and she said yes, that their shampoo has conditioner mixed in. So, also the products used are just not great I think. In any case, after I spoke to the stylist she did start to act more friendly to my daughter. I appreciated that. She finished detangling and gave her a decent cut, then dried it halfway so it was still damp. Meh. I paid, included a tip of course, and we left. Overall it was not at all worth the price, which was very high for what we got. This was like the most basic of blunt haircuts with no styling involved. Next time I will definitely take my daughter to a regular salon. So, lesson learned on my part! Just wanted to pass along the info for anyone considering booking an appointment for their kiddo. I also wanted to add, we did see plenty of toddler and preschool-aged kids come through and they, and their parents, all seemed very happy! The kids got balloons and lollipops and got to sit in cute car chairs while watching Bluey. I think that is the target demographic and anyone with older kids should steer clear. read more

We had an amazing experience at Sharkey's for my child's first haircut. Our stylist, Mahgis, was extremely patient and took time to play with him and make him feel comfortable before starting. She was so kind, calm, and great with kids. The haircut turned out adorable, and the whole place was fun and welcoming. We couldn't have asked for a better first haircut experience. If I could give this adorable Sharkey's location 10 stars, I would! We've been SO needing a kid friendly hair salon in our Edmonds/Shoreline area, and this place is amazing! We've been here multiple times now and every time the stylists are so great with the kids, and are always super professional. Love this salon! read more

First- my grandsons received terrible haircuts. Both were choppy and uneven. The women seemed not to have cut anyones hair before. Second- very unprofessional staff that can't handle young children. Third- they have overpriced hair products and overpriced small toys hanging everywhere. I saw kids pick toys up, put toys in their mouths, drop them on the floor that needed hair swept up, and then mom would put the toy back in the bin for the next toddler to pick up. read more
