9/30/22 No bathrooms at all, need to use mall public bathrooms
    Lee D.

I really wanted to like this place. I set my expectations too high. No wings?!?! No restrooms, we needed to use the public ones in the mall. No AC, it was turned on after we left... Did not accept credit cards, the system was down. Not enough inside seating. Quality/Quantity - We got the following today. #1 Original - Poached Chicken, drier than I expected. Also, I was really hoping for some "ginger, garlic sauce," but it came with bits of garlic and red pepper on the side. The quantity was generous, and I really liked the soybean garlic chili sauce. #3 Gai Yang - Grilled Breast & Thigh; more tender of the two chickens. Thai sweet chili sauce (made in house?), one of my favorite sauces, but I have this at home and was hoping for something different. Also had generous portions. Fried Garlic Tofu - Freshly fried for us, but not to my liking. My wife ordered and ate it all. Wings - Wait, they were out of stock of all wings... This was the real reason I wanted to try this place... The chicken broth Thai herb rice was actually very good. Atmosphere - Small local restaurant with only 4 tables indoors with a total of 8 seats. The owners were using one of the tables, so there was not enough seating for us, so we ate outside. The outside public tables were dirty, probably have not been cleaned in a long while. The team was nice enough to give us paper towels to use as placemats. Open 7 days a week from 11am to 8pm, see picture. Yelp says you are closed on Mondays...? Self service water. Plenty of mall parking. Service - Good. Accommodated to all our needs. Price - $40ish; reasonable for what we got, since they had generous quantities.. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success for the last 3 years. I look forward to coming back and trying y'all again.

Calling all chicken lovers! If you love chicken, this place is for you! You can have your proteins fried, grilled, or poached! You'll get it served with a dipping sauce, cucumbers, rice, plus a small soup broth on the side. They include this soup, even with to go orders. The portions are pretty hefty so though the price is a little pricier than say, a Vietnamese rice plate, you're still getting good sized portions. I tried the curry rice bowl which included a big serving of rice, Japanese style curry, and fried chicken. The chicken is fried with a thicker batter, not a panko style katsu. Definitely enough for two meals, or maybe one if you're extra extra hungry. The description said it should come with pickled veggies but I didn't get any in my to go order. It did come with the soup broth on the side which I wasn't a huge fan of - Very bland tbh. I ate this an hour after it was picked up, so the chicken wasn't crispy anymore. The flavor of the curry was delicious but I would have liked some carrots or veggies in it. It has a nice little kick to it too, so if you can't take the heat, do not order this. It hits you at the end, so good! I love that for the to go orders, they used sturdy containers and wrapped them all in saran wrap in case of spillage. I appreciate that, because no one wants an accident in the car! I can't say much about location or anything as I wasn't the one who picked up the to go order but my BF didn't have many complaints or difficulties when he stopped by. I saw they had wings on the menu with lots of Thai inspired flavors, as well as chicken skin, so I'll be back to give these a try next time!

For my #ThankYouThursday2021 Yelp review, I'd like to say THANK YOU yo this local biz in Vacaville, CA -- The Chicken Hawkers! If you're looking for some Khao man gai () aka Thai style chicken and rice. I definitely recommend checking out this spot in the Nut Tree Plaza. The menu is easy to read, understand and choose from. We ordered their #1 and #3. Original and grilled. They also offer a few side items and homemade drinks such as Thai tea, matcha, coffee, etc. You'll be so surprised with the simplicity of how the food looks but once you take a bite, your taste buds will be dancing! The rice cooked with the chicken broth, fat, and Thai herbs, so it is slightly oily with a wonderful essence of the chicken. The chicken is sliced with precision into bite-sized pieces then placed on top of the rice with a few cucumber slices, a side bowl of chicken soup and a sauce that matches your choice of Thai style chicken. They are kind of tucked away in this plaza, right across from the carousel and a small playground, in between Jelly Belly store and Fentons. No bathrooms inside but it is located in the side of the building. The prices are reasonable and inexpensive. The vibe inside is very chill; mellow instrumental music; staff quietly working and preparing the delicious food. They only have 3 or 4 tables inside. There's also a self service station with finger gloves (so fun and such a good idea!!!) to place your order using their online ordering system. I think this is a good idea if ever it's a little busy to order up front. Parking may or may not be an issue given it is located in a fairly trafficked area. Other than the above, I'm always so thankful for businesses thy bring in flavors and good vibes! So once again, thank you The Chicken Hawkers for serving Vacaville and the surround communities!!!

Located in a popular plaza, I was pleasantly surprised to see a new spot tucked away next to Jelly Belly. It was a HOT day when my friend and I went, but we were still craving soup and wanted to try something new! S E R V I C E: Simple! You order inside, and they bring you food whether you sit inside or outside. We didn't wait too long for our orders, and we could tell everything was fresh when we received them. F O O D: We both had their fried chicken, and it came with soup and rice. The chicken was very tasty and lightly battered, but crispy. Rice was portioned nicely and seasoned, and the soup hit the spot even though it was 105° outside that day haha! O V E R A L L: Great food, and pretty light (even though it's fried haha). I will definitely come back and try the rest of their menu!

We were shopping around the area and got hungry. Some if the Asian restaurants around the area were not doing indoor dining and I came across Chicken Hawkers on Yelp. It was a little hidden in the back and may be easily overlooked. This place was open for indoor and outdoor dining but we decided on outdoor as there was a little play area for the girls to play in. I must say, this place has really good chicken and rice. We ordered one of each (except the tofu and rice) to try and I love the original the best, which paired well with their signature sauce. Gai yang (grilled chicken) and Gai tod (fried chicken) both had sweet chili sauce, which was good too but I preferred the original. The rice had so much flavor as if they cooked the rice in chicken broth and infused it by adding ginger and garlic into it. We also ordered the fried tofu and chicken wings. My girls loved the chicken wing and preferred eating that over the other meats we ordered. If I am ever in the area, I will definitely want to come back here again. I can't wait.

If you're looking for a bomb ass chicken and rice plate, look no further than The Chicken Hawkers! We used their online order system to place an order. The front end employees were off to take a 15 min break when we got there, but instructed us to order anyways so the kitchen staff could get started on making our food. We got our order in about 30 mins or so, which we didn't mind at all since we knew they were on break, and my sis and I were chillin. I've been dying to try their Original Khao Man Gai since I've never had this dish before. The chicken was super moist, the jasmine rice had tons of flavor, and their dipping sauce is SO SO GOOD. We ordered the Gai Tod (fried chicken version), and their cabbage slaw with chicken. I was beyond impressed! The fried chicken was very juicy, and the batter stayed delicately crispy. So enjoyable! The chicken that came with the slaw had the same thin and crispy batter. And whatever sauce their used for the slaw (obvi mayo based) was *chefs kiss* AMAZING. Tied everything together so well. This is definitely a new fave spot of mine and will def be coming back the next time I have a craving for Khao Man Gai. It's a must try, so please check them out!

This place is an incredible value in terms of taste, price, and originality that I'm devastated that something like it doesn't exist where I'm from! Hidden away behind Fentons, Chicken Hawkers serves up delicious Thai chicken and rice served up 3 ways: poached (I know their description says BOILED, but it's not boiled, it's gently poached in chicken broth), grilled, with rice, and a small mild chicken soup all for about $10. It's a steal! I had the original chicken (Khao man gai), which was true to form except it was all boneless (which I always love), and also ordered a side of chicken skin for a little bit of extra cronch. Mine came with a delicious bed of rice flavored with that chicken oil, a ginger-scallion sauce that I liberally applied all over my entire entree, and a small container of bird eye chiles and garlic that I dumped into the rice and mixed it all together. The soup that comes with the meal is fairly mild, so that the chicken remains the star of the show, but overall I really liked having it to balance out the strong ginger flavors. Altogether, the meal was *extremely* tasty, even on a hot day. They also have selection of traditional beverages like coconut water (traditional), mangosteen juice (delicious!), to niche beverages like pennywort (which I personally hate haha) that go well with your entree. Honestly if you're in the area, give them a shot! You won't regret it. --- sweet: great value for some seriously delicious fare. bitter: they tend to skimp a bit on the sauce, so be sure to order extra!

Me and my girlfriend went to the Hawkers by the recommendation of her friend. I saw the mixed reviews recently and was wary, but I'm surprised with how good the value was and would definitely consider this pretty worth. I got the Chicken Curry Rice Bowl, and got to try their chicken skins as well. I wasn't too impressed with the skins, but I thought the Curry Bowl was pretty worth for Vacaville. You get a good amount of everything, and the chicken batter is super crispy without getting soggy by the curry. It can definitely be enough for two if you're not hungry enough to finish the plate. I don't know too many Japanese curry places in Vacaville or Fairfield, so it was nice to have. I would definitely come back here, maybe try out the spicy garlic noodles and more of their chicken wings. Overall it's definitely worth a try for a hearty meal.

I've noticed lately that more Thai style chicken shops are popping up around the Bay Area and now in Vacaville. I've never tried Gai Tod or Gai Yang, or at least the authentic one. When I saw this place was open, I had to tell my friend to check it out. The shop is located next to Jelly Belly and Fenton's Creamery. My friends and I came here during the time Restaurant week was in effect, we were able to get a couple $$ off our meals. The menu is pretty short and simple. Your choose is either chicken or more chicken. Chicken over rice fried, grilled or original and it comes with a side of chicken broth soup. They also offer tofu and rice, chicken wings, fried chicken skin/tofu, and steamed veggies. They have an array of drinks to choose from the fridge or you can get their house made thai tea. My friend and I ordered the Gai Tod (fried) and my other friend ordered the original and a side of fried chicken skin. The restaurant was a bit busy at the time, our orders came out in about 15-20 minutes. The shop is pretty small with limited seating; 3 tables and a wall table. We were lucky enough to get a table, but it was quite cramped for 3 peeps. The chicken broth that came if the order was good but had a bit of a spice to it. The fried chicken was crispy and moist, it paired well with the sweet chili sauce that came on the side. The was a generous amount of rice that had nice flavor to it as well. It was simple, yet satisfying. My friend who is Thai was definitely happy with her original boiled chicken, it's one of the best she's had here in the states so far. Overall, good food, reasonably priced, and good service. The restaurant is nice, clean, modern. They have cucumber-infused/ pandan-infused water, which is a nice bonus. I'd come back to try their gai yang (grilled) chicken next time! Definitely check them out!

I appreciate this place so much! I was at work knowing I had to work overtime. I love how I was able to schedule my order way ahead of time to have it be delivered in the afternoon. My food was still warm when I received it. The original chicken was such a great choice. It was really refreshing. The flavor is definitely on the plain side and more of a healthier choice. I will definitely order again from here. Thank you!

    Costco Chicken, Seriously
    Liana O.

The "Gai Yang" AKA, Costco Chicken that they pulled from the fridge, plated over rice, served with cucumber and a bottled dipping sauce and charged me $14+ for. I watched them pull the Costco Chicken from the fridge and bring it up to the line, assuming they had it for the staff. Nope. They really just served me Costco Chicken. Needless to say, I won't be returning, as I can get a whole Costco Chicken for $5. Edited to add that they originally refused a refund, but had a change of heart and I found the refund has been issued. I'm still not going back, but I no longer feel like I was scammed.

Oh man, I've really been loving khao man gai recently and this place and some other places in the city do it exceptionally! I'm really glad that Vacaville is expanding its food scene, I'm hoping this place thrives and survives! Their original chicken is super tender it comes with thigh and breast meat and a dipping sauce with garlic and peppers! It's a really perfect combo to go together! The rice is also flavorful and it's not too mushy. Some places I've been to in the city has mushy rice which isn't suppose to be the norm. The broth that accompanies this is also light, flavorful and recently has packed a punch. It was slightly spicy last time and I'm not complaining cause I liked it! We also tried the chicken wings a try and wow! They are actually pretty crispy and flavorful. Overall, I'm pretty impressed with this place and I'll definitely be back for more ! Total for 2: $34

It's lunch time, I am driving through Vacaville and I remember hearing about this place. I even remember seeing my homegirl post that she came here twice in one day b'cuz it was that good, so here I am with another happy, full belly. It is safe to say, that the hype is real. The gal working the register was super friendly, made us feel welcome and went over the menu very thoroughly. We ordered, sat down and the wait was about 15-20 minutes, everything was made to order. Here's the breakdown: The grilled chicken was phenomenal- this for sure was 5 stars. Juicy throughout every single bite. The rice included, had somewhat of a garlic after taste that I truly enjoyed. You also get a side of broth, which was tasty. The fried chicken was just okay. It was kinda dry between the batter. I wouldn't order this again I would go straight for the grilled chicken! The wings were great! Batter evenly throughout and the wings were juicy between each bite, can you believe it?? Juicy wings they exist! Why? Because they were freshly made and the chicken is fresh! Look, if you're driving through from the bay to Sac or from Sac to the Bay, make it a point to stop here...the food is worth it!

Tom Yum Goong is located in the back corner of the parking lot next to the Vietnamese restaurant…read more(Pho Lee Hoa Phat). We frequent the Vietnamese restaurant, but never really think about going to Tom Yum Goong until today. We were originally going to Pho Lee Hoa Phat for dinner, but when we walked up I asked my son if he want to eat Thai instead which he and my wife decided they wanted to eat instead of Vietnamese. Ambiance (3.5/5 stars): first impressions when we walked in is that it is dark and needed more lighting. After sitting down, I noticed that one side of the restaurant was full of random antique items. I overheard someone asking them about the antiques and the owner said that her husband buys the antiques at estate sales, etc and that they are open to offers to purchase them. There are some Thai decor in the restaurant. Older 70's/80's music was playing in the background so it didn't feel like being in a Thai Restaurant especially with all the American antiques on one side of the restaurant. There are a handful of tables (seating for 4 people), but they do have room for larger parties. Food (4.5/5 stars): We really enjoyed our food. They had great flavors. The portion size was not big, but the price also reflected the smaller portion size compared to other Thai restaurants in town. Dishes: - Mango Salad: nice chunks of mango, mixed with lettuce, cherry tomatoes, red onions, mint, cilantro, carrots, cashews, shrimp and the chef's special mango sauce. It was a nice refreshing dish and was once of our favorite dishes that we ordered today. - Super Pad Thai w/ Chicken: flavorful, authentic Pad Thai flavors - Moo Yang (B.B.Q. Pork): nice tasting grilled pork with sweet chili dipping sauce - Pad Ka Prow (Pad Basil - Beef): nice flavor, had a lot of green beans (not usually in Pad Ka Prow), but I liked the flavors. I always welcome extra veggies. Service (4/5 stars): The waitress/owner was very nice and was pretty attentive overall. She was the only one waiting tables and with take out orders as well as helping some in the kitchen. She came by a few times to check on us and refill our waters. It was a slow night for dinner (~7pm, Friday), only one other table eating and 2 take out orders while we were there, so not sure how the service would have been if they were busy. Food came out relatively quick. Tom Yum Goong is a kind of hidden in Vacaville. They have great tasting food and would be much busier at a better location. They do have smaller portion sizes, but prices do reflect that. Between Vacaville and Fairfield, I feel Vacaville's Thai restaurants are much tastier than any in Fairfield and Tom Yum Goong is no exception. If you are craving some good Thai food, give them a try. You might even find a piece of antique that you may want to purchase.

We walked in and there were a few people already enjoying lunch, but plenty of open seating. We were seated right away and service got going quickly. Always a good sign. There are lunch specials, but we went à la carte because I believe if you're going out to eat, you might as well order what you actually want. We ordered seafood tom kha, chicken & shrimp pad Thai, basil beef, spicy catfish, pla pad phed (trout), and steamed rice -- all requested not spicy because my parents like flavor, not a near-death experience. The seafood tom kha was a win. Dad was impressed with the variety of seafood -- shrimp, scallops, mussels, calamari, and catfish. He kept commenting on how flavorful the broth was, which in dad language is basically a Michelin star. The basil beef was new for my parents and they both loved it. The sauce had great flavor and paired perfectly with the rice. The pad Thai was good. Solid. Dependable. Not the kind that makes you dramatically pause mid-bite and rethink your life choices, but definitely tasty. Now the spicy catfish is what I personally come here for. It's fried just right -- not overly breaded, still flaky and tender inside. The sauce is always on point and full of flavor. This dish alone keeps me coming back. The pla pad phed (trout) unfortunately didn't land the same way. Because it's served filleted, it's easy to overcook, and sadly this one was. The sauce itself was great, but the fish was a bit too done. Overall, this place has been a favorite of mine for a while, and it survived the ultimate test: my parents enjoyed it too. I'll definitely keep coming back for the spicy catfish, basil beef, and their reliable pad Thai. And the service? Always friendly and attentive -- which honestly makes the experience even better.

Also ordered popcorn calamari, it was ok. Seems like there's barely any calamari, more veggies than calamari. Chowfun was ok, and the yellow curry. Unfortunately I was not expecting it to be like this considering the reviews were 4 star
