I was looking to replace my entire AC system which is why it's important to find the best in the business and rated the best. It's also important to find more than one 5* business so you can get a better picture and quotes for such an expensive endeavor which I found helpful. If you're going to go all the way with such an expense, it's best to educate yourself as much as possible, and there's lots of YouTube videos on AC repair and replacement which you should watch prior to making that decision. You really need to be an informed and educated customer or you might find yourself with an inferior or wrong system. I found that certain AC companies want the steer you to certain brands they represent, so you may wish to decide on a brand first. I found that the Carrier Infiniti system with its very high seer rating and variable speed was the perfect choice. More details on this system in the photos below. If you live in a two-story house like mine, you can expect the price to be much greater due to the fact that you have dampeners which will need to be fixed or replaced which greatly adds to the bill. As for my AC, it was over 20 years old, but still chugging along. However, I knew there was going to be new mandates in 2025 which would greatly add to the expense of AC replacement such as a new refrigerant which is slightly flammable called Puranovance. I replaced my old R22 compressor with the new R-410a which is still readily available, but will eventually be phased out many years from now. I also mistakenly thought you'd get a good deal by replacing it during the cool months, but apparently a lot of people were doing what I was doing so no break in the price. As a matter fact, the date of manufacture of my new Infiniti compressor was only just a couple weeks old before it was installed. After some back-and-forth on pricing, we finally decided on a date of installation. Carl and his crew showed up and had everything installed within six hours and hauled off the old units. We still needed some troubleshooting in order to dial-in the thermostats functioning properly, but everything works perfectly now and the temperature remains exactly as you set it throughout the house. Both the compressor and the blower motor are incredibly quiet. Since I knew I needed this replacement at some point, I had enough money in the bank to cut a check for the job. When you sign up for Carl's service, you get Carl in the equation. Check out the photos below which show you the equipment, specs and the pricing. Update: After 2 weeks the plenum did separate, but I was able to use foil tape to close up the 8" gap. Personally, I think a 30 day check up would be a good idea not just for Carl, but anyone who gets this kind of installation from whatever company you choose.

They took the time to thoroughly clean the condenser and ran multiple tests on the attic unit to make sure everything was operating as it should. What really stood out was how they walked me through the entire process at the end, showing photos and explaining each step. It gave me a lot of confidence in their work and attention to detail. My AC condensation pipe was completely backed up and needed to be flushed. Their tech arrived on time and seemed very professional, spending about an hour and a half working on the unit and inspecting everything inside and out. However, he couldn't find where the evaporator line exited the house. His solution? Install an external pump and run a whole new drain line. The rough estimate for that was, well, a hell of a lot more than the $15 fee they charged me just to come out and take a look. When he left, I still had the exact same broken AC, was stressing over an exorbitant bill to fix it, and somehow found out I'd been signed up for a $15-a-month service plan that entitled me to another check-up in six months just in time for winter. Hoping to just get it resolved, I reached out to Service Wizard via Yelp later that evening to see if they could come back today to do the work the tech recommended. I never got a response. Frustrated, I called a different AC company. They actually answered the phone, sent technicians out right on time today, and those guys spent **five minutes** at my house before finding the external line, repairing it, and flushing my system. Problem completely solved in under five minutes, and the fee was incredibly cheap compared to the massive quote I got from Service Wizard. I will definitely be canceling my $15-a-month contract with Service Wizard and won't be recommending them going forward. Save yourself the headache and call someone else!

Based on prior experience we called Brandon at Airco to come take a look. We left a key for them and they were out that day. They called w/options--new coils (a few year fix) or a whole new system. We opted for a new system. They had it installed and house cooled down when we returned on Saturday! We were also wanting to move our thermostat but wanted to talk through that. They came back on Monday to take care of moving the thermostat.

I reached out to Julie at 8 am, and she responded within 15-20 minutes like usual and had Bryan dispatched to me in a 9-11 am window. Bryan has been our guy for several years; super personable, efficient and affable. He always explains the problem, and how he is going to fix it, and lets me know the expected charge. He got everything cleaned up(clogged drain, nothing too bad) topped off with freon, and on his way. Yes, I see people complain about prices going up, but everything is, and for Texas summers, AC is beyond the premium in importance, but I never feel gouged and always treated well. Bryan does not just recommend the most expensive fix or invent anything, always looks for a way to help minimize cost and save a buck. However, sometimes you can't with your AC, just too important. I could not recommend Julie and her team at KMAC more!

Two days later they install the system and then have my mother sign the paperwork. She thought she was signing the payment plan that she wanted. $14 K with a 5year payment plan. The new BILL was $24 with a 15 year payment plan. at 7.99% Estimate never received. Invoice was the only thing given. I spoke to the GM ,He said too bad she signed the contract. Also, Sales Industry, I am sure the salesperson got a hefty commission for the sale of the $24 k system. They did install a new thermostat and left holes in the wall. Keep your ELDERLY parents away from this company.
