Never Again. They verbally said $14 k to replace an air conditioning system. NO written estimate given. Nothing signed. Two days later they install the system and then have my mother sign the paperwork. She thought she was signing the payment plan that she wanted. $14 K with a 5year payment plan. The new BILL was $24 with a 15 year payment plan. at 7.99% Estimate never received. Invoice was the only thing given. I spoke to the GM ,He said too bad she signed the contract. Also, Sales Industry, I am sure the salesperson got a hefty commission for the sale of the $24 k system. They did install a new thermostat and left holes in the wall. Poor Communication, Shady Upsell Tactics - Would Not Recommend I scheduled Fox Service Company / Precision Heating & Air to work on my mini-splits. After three separate calls, the problem is still not fixed. Communication was frustrating and disorganized -- I had to keep calling just to get basic updates. They also pushed hard for me to sign a service contract to "get a discount," which felt like a sales tactic rather than a genuine benefit. After researching, I found they are owned by Southern Home Services Corporation, a large service conglomerate with a poor reputation. My experience reflects those concerns. If you want responsive communication, timely repairs, and honest pricing, I'd look for a locally owned company instead. read more

Run away as fast as you can. They send skilled techs to sell you an AC then on install day it's two guys who have no clue what they are doing with zero oversight. I've been in a year long battle with them just to get an AC system I spent 32k on with them to actually work and not flood my house with water. Every time it's "we have it figured out" they damage my home cut extra vents leave it filthy and it's worse than the builder system they replaced. The first install they never even hooked up the fresh air vent so it was sucking in outside air non stop until I caught it. Then they admitted they never even installed the control module for it. Drain line was installed poorly and leaked causing water damage. Drain line wasn't insulated and dripped water inside my walls popping breakers. Drain line also caused water damage in a cabinet. I am now 40,000 deep into this and my house can't even hold temp at NIGHT. I'm ready to just cut my losses, hire and attorney and a totally new company at this point. Service contract is worthless too. They came by once turned on my heater to see if it worked and left lol. When I called and notified them in email and phone zero was done. Despite my unit still being under warranty until August 2026, I've received no meaningful support after requesting emergency service on June 6, 2025, for a heat pump that fails to cool more than 10 degrees. I was shocked to learn a "do not service" flag was placed on my account--without explanation--after repeated follow-ups. Last year's service was misdiagnosed, resulting in no lasting solution, and now I'm being ignored again during extreme heat. This company has shown a clear pattern of negligence, poor communication, and refusal to honor warranty obligations. Beware getting ripped off by this company under it's new "Fox Service" umbrella. I've used Fox Service for electrical and plumbing issues and not had any problems. However, my recent HVAC experience was so negative that I am posting about it here--under Precision--to warn people against getting gouged by their new HVAC arm. (This review & warning only applies to the HVAC services by Fox/Precision.) I'll give them 2 stars instead of 1 b/c when my a/c went out on a Friday evening, they arrived earlier than promised on Saturday evening (good) and the two service techs who arrived seemed polite and competent and diagnosed the problem quickly (also good--but two? yeah, see below). I needed a faulty capacitor. All good so far? Then it went south. First, a capacitor repair/replacement cost should be about $200-250 dollars max., split ~ 50/50 parts/labor (it only takes ~30 minutes to diagnose and change one out). And indeed, another service company replaced one on my other unit for roughly that amount a year ago. Fox/Precision's price on a Saturday night for a family of 6 who was facing a hot fall weekend w/o an a/c? $550. FIVE HUNDRED AND FIFTY DOLLARS. (A sure sign that it's a rip-off is that neither the estimate nor the work order break down the cost by parts vs labor--it's just one price, take it or leave it.) I'm embarrassed to admit I paid it just to avoid another two days w/o a/c while waiting for someone else to come out on Monday. But then it got worse--the upselling began. "Buy a service package" (another $400 for two units), which I see from other reviews here is no deal at all. "Run these tests and fix leaks" for another $650. "Buy a new system" for thousands upon thousands of dollars--at which point I realized why there were TWO techs on the call (on a Saturday night, no less). The other was a sales guy! He said "Don't put a lot of money into your old system"--well hell, then why are you gouging me $550 for a capacitor that you are bragging will last 5-10 years if the system won't last nearly that long? I didn't need a sales pitch, I needed a simple repair. But now I know why the nice lady who took my original call asked me how old my system was--their biz model must include this kind of upselling. It felt like the worst car repair experience, only right in my own living room. (And to be clear, the guys were polite, so I assume this is what they are ordered to do.) Bottom line: I'm done with Fox/Precision Heating & Air. Yes, my system is old; yes, it may need some work or replacement soon. But I'm going elsewhere for it b/c it's clear Fox/Precision clearly has no trouble ripping off the people they serve. read more

Crooks! These people are incompetent business owners and crooks, but maybe that's how they stay in business. I had an issue with my AC not blowing cold air anymore. Did the general few steps to see what was going on; replace air filter ($15 from home depot), cleaned the outdoor system's coils ($6 for a can from home depot), and found that the fan wasn't running, but would if I kick started it (by just pushing it) Did a little research online and found similar issue, basically saying that the system's capacitor was shot, preventing it from starting the motion of the fan, but keeping it in motion was it was started. First off, scheduling with them is worse than Comcast. I called them a day prior to come by and Be Done before 3PM because I wouldn't be home; nothing all day until 2:40 when they call saying they could come by...Did they even listen? I told them to come by the next day; nearly 30 minutes later, the office clerk called me asking to reschedule...even though I told them I had literally just spoken to someone just recently and I needed them to come by and be done before 4PM the next day. Day of service comes around, I hear nothing all day until 2:40 again saying they'd be here at 3...why leave it all the way to the end of the day?? Once here, the technician, Tom, was sloppy, pushy, and arrogant. He checked the system and confirmed it was the capacitor. He said he'd forego the $49.99 house call if he were to replace the capacitor, for $485!! I declined for such an outrageously overpriced quote and simple service. I looked up the capacitor and sure enough, is $13.95 on Amazon!!!! The work they've done has caused a leak from uninsulated copper that required replacing chunks of the 2nd and 1rst floor ceiling. After doing more harm than good, they're insisting on 9k before moving forward, an invoice with one line item. "As agreed upon". Filed a complaint with the BBB- Not agreed upon. We were happy with Precision for a bit but now they are merged with or bought out by Fox. Don't know if it's a coincidence but we've had bad experiences ever since that change. They serviced our unit in May, had to get them back out in Aug for issues (they installed our unit 4 years ago). A technician came this past Thu and said we needed their plumbing team to clear a clogged drain but they couldn't get us on the schedule until Sat 6pm - 11pm. We suffered through Fri and Sat and arranged our Sat evening to accommodate this appointment. They never showed!! We called and were told our message would be passed to the dispatcher. Didn't hear back in the morning so called again and they said they could come Mon 6pm - 11pm. So we're being asked to prolong our AC issues in the Texas summer heat because they missed our appt? And what's to say they won't do it again? I tried to leave feedback but the man I talked to on the phone did not give two f*cks and they didn't respond to email or text. We had an abysmal time working with Precision Heating and Air. AVOID THEM AT ALL COSTS. Technician Waylon came to our property to address a mini split system that wasn't working. He had a negative/annoyed demeanor and complained about how poorly things were run since the Fox/Precision merger. He said, "Even my supervisor doesn't know what's going on"-- that's a quote people. We should have listened to him. We were charged $210 just to change a fuse. Then we were told we needed a part ordered. We signed paperwork at the time to have the part ordered. Waylon said the part would be ordered as soon as he submitted the paperwork when he left the house. We called back Friday morning and the phone roulette started. No one know what's going on over there. Later in the day we were told the purchasing department left at 3pm on Friday. When you call Precision/Fox you talk to a different person every time; we talked to 5-7 people over the course of this whole ordeal. They acted nice on the phone but no one could get us a straight answer about when the part would be in, or when the work could be finished. On Monday morning we still had no answers and were then told we needed to sign something to authorize the part to be ordered. But we had already done that with Waylon. So, days had passed, no part was ordered and we still had no answers as the temperature climbed. It was such an unpleasant, unprofessional experience we fired Precision and asked to be refunded the Comfort club so we didn't have to work with them ever again. We sent the parts invoice to John at Davis Temp Control. (GREAT guy and very professional). When he ordered the part they charged us for, it was the WRONG part! John got us the right parts and now we're all set. It's been a week and I've called and submitted requests online to get a refund of the comfort club. We haven't received a single reply. No supervisors exist and you'll get zero communication when you need it most. STAY AWAY from this company. read more

I used precision about four years ago and had good experience previously. It seems bought by Fox service. Their service is too pricey to afford from my experience yesterday. I guessed my ac has an evaporator coil leak since my another same ac had this issue four years ago. It took the technician ~10 minutes to conclude coil leaking and he charged me $359. He quoted $4,349 for replacing the coil. I later got another quote $1,480 from another company. What a rip off! read more

Without going into overt amounts of detail, I am writing this review with a general eye towards the excellence that is Precision, and a specific eye on John and Geoff. I am not exaggerating when I say that Precision Air, John and Geoff, could potentially have saved my life via their expertise and attention to detail. Despite the fact that they were in my home for an unrelated request, when looking into this request they were able to locate an issue that, had it been left alone, could've resulted in death, housefire, or both. My family and I had no idea this issue was present, and so being told of this issue and understanding what it had done and could do was shocking as well as unnerving. John and Geeff acted in a manner that should make any company and its ownership proud. They did not focus on selling me a service or install, but rather focused on my safety and the safety of my family before moving onto the issue for which I had called. They could have slacked it, they could have missed it, but they didn't. It should go without saying that I intend to be a Precision customer for life. Obviously, we all have good and bad things to say about services like Precision, sometimes we even say both based on different services. However, in all my years I've never felt the need to publicly write a review in which I state that company like Precision's employees were directly responsible for keeping me alive, and not in flames. I am a service guy. I expect good service and will happily pay more for good service. I have never thought of asking if the service included life-saving. My hat is off to John and Geoff and to Precision as a company. If everyone who works at Precision is anything like John and Geoff, then please let me know before you go public and I shall buy stock. My HVAC replacement required a unique approach due to a poorly designed and installed system by the original builder. I consulted with and received bids from several companies, some suggesting that shortcuts would be required, and I would end up with a less than efficient system. That was until Precision Heating and Air assessed my project. John did a thorough assessment and designed a system to be installed in a space that other companies suggested would not be possible. Pricing was fair and was less than some competitive bids I received. That cost included a 10-year parts and labor warranty, a 10-year zero out of pocket promise, and the contract was absent of any fine pint that would have subjected me to additional costs for any issues discovered during installation. It was an all-inclusive, easy to read and easy to understand proposal. Coordination, scheduling and permits were expertly handled by Kerianna who communicated with me before, during and after installation. I am particularly pleased with the installers Glass and Forest, who during installation, "tweaked" John's initial design and improved it. Both Glass and Forest were professional from start to finish. The project took two full days. They started early each morning, worked late in the day, cleaned the job site from top to bottom, and took the time to answer all my questions. They were minimally disruptive while being respectful and courteous throughout the process. Execution was flawless. They are a good team that Precision Heating and Air is fortunate to have. If Glass and Forest get assigned to your project you will be in good hands. read more

I called Precision (who is also now Fox through a buyout?) to service my AC. They sent two technicians, one of who was very nice and the other not so. The nice technician said up front that it was too cold to get a good reading off the AC, and I offered to set another date. The not-so-nice technician insisted it could be done by wrapping garbage bags around it. They were already out, and the not-nice one was insistent, so I let them look at the AC unit. The nice technician got to work looking at the units in the attic, and the not-so-nice one started asking questions. During the conversation, I mentioned that I had had trouble over the last couple of years because the refrigerant was low, and they were able to add some, and it worked fine. The not-nice technician immediately started talking about a new unit without any diagnostic effort saying that the cost of a new unit might be cheaper than putting refrigerant in. He said that even if it worked, the hole is likely bigger because they grow over time, so it would likely fail anyway. It felt like we were in a verbal jousting match and ended up with the not-nice technician going down to look at the outside unit. He looked at it briefly and pointedly noted that it was missing a sticker that "goes right here." (It looked like he was just pointing at a random blank spot). He said he would have to start putting the refrigerant in and weighing it out because there was no sticker on the unit. I guess there is no way in today's age to get from a model number to information about the specs of a device. At that point, I was done. I paid their service fee and asked them to leave. The parting words from the not-nice technician were, "We wouldn't put in a unit for you anyway." I still don't know how a garbage bag would help, but there you go. read more

Technician was quick to diagnose accurately - a worn out fan motor and one other part that needed replacing. Said that "parts alone would be $1800-2400", so at that point might as well replace the whole thing for $6500. We agreed not knowing any better, as the system is almost 15 years old. Called a locally owned AC friend for a second opinion and he agreed on the same diagnosis but that it should only be $500 and there was still plenty of life left in our system. Called the Precision technician back to cancel our contract and he quickly agreed to cancelling without any rebuttal and hung up. Almost as if he knew he was ripping us off... read more

We hired Precision Heating & Air to fix our A/C system when the old unit's compressor died in April 2020 (the Texas summer was coming and we had just brought our newborn home from the hospital). The Precision team came out, completed the initial assessment, and provided their estimate for the labor/costs that would be needed to properly fix the system and cool our home. We were told that our old unit was out-dated and over-sized based on industry standards, but our ducts were in good shape so we wouldn't need to replace them. We agreed on an approximate cost of $7000. Fast forward 4 months. During the days, our thermostat usually reads about 5-7 degrees hotter than what we have it set at (and with a newborn, 68-72 degrees is recommended plus we prefer a cool home in general).  Three separate times we've had Precision come out to diagnose the issue. The first two times, the technician tried a few small patching and sealing fixes but nothing changed. The third time, a more senior technician concluded that the insulation in our attic was inadequate and that our ducts were thinner than the industry standard. These factors, combined with our smaller unit, are what was causing our hot house. Why were these, in hindsight, obvious issues not pointed out until the third follow-up appointment? Not only was this the first time we were hearing that the ducts were insufficient but we were specifically told that the ductwork was fine during the initial assessment. Even more jarring, Precision installs insulation all the time, but at NO point during the original assessment was the insulation ever discussed. Had we known this would be a big contributing factor, we would have adjusted our budget. At a minimum, we would have asked Precision to add the insulation cost to the estimate so we could make a thorough decision. The fact that the quote we received did not include insulation or duct replacement proves it was never discussed.  Precision is now quoting us an additional $2,200 for the insulation work. Sadly, even if we were to pay for the new insulation, we have no assurance that this will actually fix the problem.  The senior technician who was last out to our home agreed that Precision dropped the ball here. However, the company's management was only willing to give us a $500 discount on new insulation, leaving us with a $1,700 bill if we decide to go ahead.  Based on my research, Precision's price even after the discount, is still higher than the average cost for attic insulation in the Austin area. Most importantly though, our trust in Precision is lost and we do not wish to do more business with them.  We are not unreasonable people. However, after spending over $7,000 to cool our home, we feel like we have the right to expect a cool home.  We trusted their professional opinion and we trusted that they would notify us of any significant factors that might get in the way of a cool home. I've used Precision Heating & Air a couple of times and I felt somewhat taken advantage of each time. The first time, the technician tried to tell me I shouldn't install my Nest thermostats myself, because it could somehow fry the HVAC system if it wasn't installed and calibrated correctly. He also charged roughly $100 per thermostat. After consulting with friends, family, and another HVAC professional -- all of them said you don't need a technician to install your Nest thermostats and they're made to be user friendly and easy to install. Could've watched a quick YouTube video and figured it out. The second time was to simply check the system and provide me with a report to show to a potential buyer; as we're looking to sell our condo. The technician came back with a laundry list of repairs totaling almost $5,000 and more or less said replacing the entire system would be a good idea. I had another HVAC technician come out to provide a 2nd opinion. I showed him the report that Precision Heating & Air provided and had this other technician provide the exact same tests and inspection. He came back and only agreed with one of the repairs Precision had suggested and was able to do it for 1/4 of the price. Similarly to some of these other reviews, I feel that while Precision does know how to handle HVAC repairs and do quality work; they tend to push products that are above-standard or simply unnecessary. I believe their technicians are likely on some form of commission structure to where they make a base rate and then are compensated extra for any additional products they sell. Not saying you shouldn't use them, but I would beware of what they offer in terms of repairs and maybe get a second opinion before agreeing to have them do any work. read more

If you like to way overpay for things you don't even need, this is the company for you! Our AC system broke, so we called Precision and it took them 4 days to come out to our house, even though the inside thermostat was reading 100 degrees in the house. Then the technician shows up and says its going to take a few more days because he needs to order parts (which I completely understand) and gives us an invoice for almost $2,000 worth of work. We can't afford that so we were working with our insurance to try and get them to help pay for some of it. Our insurance requested a diagnostic report to explain what was going on with our system and why. We had to call and bug them multiple times trying to get this report, and then at the end of it all, we never got the report and the technician came back out to the house and said "oh never mind we don't need to do all this expensive stuff, we just need to add more refrigerant to your unit" Hmm... how shady is that. You want to charge me all this money until I ask for proof about all the issues and then all of a sudden they magically go away? They also listed on that invoice around $700 for a new thermostat. You can buy even the nice expensive ones for $200 at home depot, and they're extremely easy to install yourself. So when we told the technician we were going to buy the new one ourselves, he offered to install it for $250, but with how easy it is and having a father in law who is an electrician we decided to save some money and do it ourselves. After we replaced it, that still didn't solve our issue. So the technician came back out and proceeded to argue with my husband and tell him he did everything wrong and that we should have gone with a basic honeywell home thermostat and that would solve all the issues. Between the technicians attitude towards my husband and the $250 fee, we once again decided to replace it ourselves. Once again, the technician was wrong and replacing the thermostat for a 3rd time didn't do anything. By this point we feel scammed and are extremely frustrated and have spent close to $800 in hotel costs and new thermostats. We called them last night to see if the technician could come out and just override the thermostat for the night so we could at least sleep at our house. The schedular said she would send someone out. A few hours later, our previous technician called my husband and was very upset with him and told him there was no way he was going to come out because we weren't going to pay him. I have no idea why he thinks we should pay him the $49 service fee AGAIN when he still hasn't fixed any of the issues we've been having. I'm not going to keep giving you $49 to come to my house and tell me the incorrect way to fix my AC. Even more so when you continue to be rude and disrespectful to my husband. So late last night my husband had to run over to home depot and get a window unit just so we could stay at our house through the night and I found another company who was able to send someone out within 24 hours. I should have saved myself the headache and all the money and called the other place to begin with. Hopefully this will warn you to steer clear as well. read more

Since many of our neighborhood's homes were built fairly recently in volume, A/C failures of a particular flavor are common, usually in the first 5 years or so with our builder-grade equipment. In our neighborhood it's capacitor failure. The symptoms are that the fan comes on but there's no cool air. This was the case when Precision came out today. The technician took about 5-10 minutes to make the diagnosis and only slightly longer to do the repair. He even had a sheet showing the cost, so no "estimate" was necessary. Parts were on the truck, so there was no delay getting the repair done. We were fortunate that we'd registered our A/C unit when the house was completed in 2013, as the part was under warranty. Precision removed its cost from the bill, so we only paid for labor. Still, I had a bit of sticker shock: the cost wasn't cheap given the amount of time the tech spent here. On an extremely positive note, we were pleased to have called for repair first thing in the morning and to have a technician out by 9 am. The technician was polite and professional, and did some system checks above and beyond the diagnostic. The tech gets 5 stars, the company 3-4. read more

Our AC stopped blowing cold air when the temperature got up into the 80s this month. Inside unit was running, outside unit was running, so likely a coolant leak. My wife called Precision. Two guys came out. They told us: (1) They asserted that the inside unit and outside unit are at least 10 years old; They asserted that therefore the units are out of warranty, (2) The said that the coolant is nearly gone. It will cost ~$1000 to fill it up, (3) There's obviously a leak; To run a leak check and locate the leak = another ~$800 (4) If they have to replace the coil (the mostly likely leaky component), that's ~$4000 (5) Given the repair costs, the age of our units, and the fact that they are out of warranty, we should really consider a new system with a new 10-year warranty from them, for $10,000-15,000. So we're somewhere around $6500 for a leak check, coil replacement, and coolant refill, up to $15,000 worst case to replace both units. They were acting pretty cagey, brusque in manner, not very thoughtful or genuine. We said good-bye to them and called Ed from AirWerks. Ed stopped by soon after. In 5 minutes he retrieved the serial numbers of inside and outside units, saw they were 8 years old. He left and later texted us the warranty information: Both units still under warranty. He took care of the warranty paper work, installed new coil, did a pressure check, filled up the coolant for a grand total of $1500. Real service. The most streamlined transaction ever. DO NOT call Precision Heating and Air. They are (a) intentionally deceptive or (b) extremely incompetent or (c) both. The first option is almost a certainty, as their aggressive business model appears to be to scam people out of thousands of dollars by prescribing unnecessary and excessively expensive repairs. read more

Our AC broke and we called Precision Heating & Air to replace it. I worked with John Moreno. He told me that the system needed either $11k in repairs, or a total replacement that would cost $17k. Later I found out I had a home warranty, and had the warranty company's contractor come by the check out the unit. He was able to determine the problems Precision told me were happening with the compressor were not real, and he was able to fix it by adjusting the fan with no parts or expenses whatsoever except for the diagnostic fee. Get a second opinion before getting your AC replaced by this company! If I had not, I would have wasted $17k on an unneccessary new unit when it could have been fixed with a simple 15 minute adjustment. read more

We explained that both units were 15-years-old and functioning well but needed servicing and fluid top-ups. Both units were R-22. They agreed to come service them. Property 1: Technician arrived on time- looked it over- and said he would service it. After reviewing the system he said it was old and moderately inefficient. I asked that he top it up as we are doing a full renovation on that property next year. He replied that they don't do that and that I should replace the unit. He charged us for the assessment even though he had no intention of fixing it. Property 2: I drove over and met the technician at the property. I left, as our tenant was there, and the technician said he would service the unit and fill us in. He never contacted us with the results for several weeks. We received a bill and assumed the unit was taken care of. Then our tenants called to say the unit had frozen up. Upon reviewing this with the company they let us know that the technician didn't do anything to the unit but that there were, indeed, notes on file saying the unit needed work. They didn't reach out to tell us this, they did nothing. Resolution: We went back to our A/C company, Alpine, as they had resolved their Covid issue and were back up and running. In 12 hours they resolved everything. They serviced both houses efficiently and were professional in their work and communication. Conclusion: We have 17 properties we own/manage. We made a mistake in not waiting for Alpine. But let's pause on PH&A. Their approach seems to me to be a bit unethical. When they find out that a client's units are older they should be up front in saying they don't service them. They should be up front and say "Thanks for the call. We don't service older systems but we would be happy to come out and talk to you about a new system". Instead, they come out and charge for a service call they have no intention of executing on. They just push a new system. Very disappointing. Alpine will be getting the new systems in these two houses - and we will continue to use them for our other properties. Just a heads up. I called Precision and he was here within an hour with a complete diagnostic of the system and a plan and timeline for fixing. My A/C wasn't working right, so I took a half day off to meet the repairman at my house. It took him 20 minutes to blow out the drain line, and the charge? $388. You figure out the hourly rate. Then the repairman refused to do the second part of the service call (warranty work on another part of the house) because the office hadn't written down the second part on his work order, and he was too busy to take the time. I called Precision to complain. The service department transferred me to the billing department who said the HVAC manager would handle any refunds, but he was unavailable to take my call. I left my name, number, and reason for calling, but he never called back. Keep my experience in mind if you ever consider using Precision Heating & Air yourself. read more

100% using Precision for HVAC needs moving forward. I had a leak coming from the furnace that I was worried about. I saw they're highly-rated on Yelp and open 24/7. I had called at 8pm and they let me know the guys were on calls, but would call me tonight when they were on their way. Around 9:30pm or so, Jeff called and said he was sorry for the delay, but going to come by tonight at 10pm or so. He set my expectations accordingly and arrived as expected. He fixed the issue relatively quickly and, again, set my expectations that this visit is thankfully inexpensive but further repairs will likely be needed down the line. He fixed the issue, cleaned up after himself, answered all my questions, explained how to best maintain everything to prolong needing further repairs, and overall was really honest and knowledgeable. Precision Technician (accompanied by sales tech) told me I needed a $11,000 new furnace unit or $3,000 repair. Odd that the sales tech came to house before they even looked at the furnace. All of their business relations were good, even a reasonable priced service visit, until they had to price a simple repair.. and I did my homework before hand. to replace a $ 200 Condenser fan motor was $1300 with the motor included... I responded that I don't do Gouging, and let their boss know this is horrible business etiquette. I had the motor overnighted for $ 80, and replaced it in less than an hour... 8 screws and some zip ties, and they wanted $ 1000 for the labor... for an HOUR.. you are professionals, and a noob did it in an hour.. so you KNEW this would be quick!!!! Today 5/12/2020, 2 tech guys, both named Jose, from Precision showed up at exactly 8am and got to work on my AC unit, even the Project Manager EJ showed up and reassured me that they can fix the issue, a failed TXV Valve. So they didn't have to replace the entire coil again. They were done by 2:30pm. Eventhough I had to take the whole day off work, this issue needed to be addressed because I'll be out of town for the next two months and I would prefer not to deal with this when I get back, just an inviting COOL House . read more

Our AC stopped cooling last weekend so we called a few places to get it checked knowing very well that it probably needed replacing as it's 14 years old. Precision was one of the companies we called. Kelly came over to our house and did a survey of the outside unit as well as attic. She did a fantastic job of explaining everything about different seers, the kind of work Precision does, etc and really sold Precision to us (5 stars to Kelly for that). She left us with 3 options - Carrier 14, Carrier 16 single stage and Carrier 16 performance and we asked for another day to decide as we had a couple of other places coming to give us a quote as well. Next day we had decided we would go with Precision even though they were a few hundred dollars more than other ATX vendors but we felt they would be doing a better job. Full disclosure - I inquired about price match as well but we didn't have to get into that. While speaking with Kelly again and telling her we would like to go for Carrier 16 single (the middle of the 3 options presented to us), she said that the manager is now saying that "they would now not be comfortable installing anything other than Carrier 16 performance or above as they're not ok with our zoning." Nobody else in ATX mentioned that to us (I even called a few places back to ask if that would be an issue and every single one of them said it would not be a problem). Precision's response to that was "manager says good luck". Kind of disappointing that after doing a survey of our house and presenting us with 3 options that should be suited to our house, Precision backed out and said they would not take the job unless we go for the most expensive option presented to us or an even more expensive one that was not even discussed. Not sure why they did this, maybe they get more commission on higher end Carrier models, maybe not. I'm not sure but that experience left a bad taste in our mouth and we decided to go for another company. read more

After a power outage, the AC unit was not working in one of our homes. We have had this issue in the past where the wires don't communicate to the AC/Furnace after an outage and I communicated that to the tech. He was adamant that it was a faulty thermostat. Despite our conversation about our past issues, I trusted his judgement, but was still skeptical it was the thermostat. After the service was completed, I never received an invoice. The next day, the AC unit still wasn't working and they sent a new tech out. Ironic that this invoice notes that the two wires were switched as I had originally thought. I followed up with a call to Precision twice to get a copy of my invoice, but only the second one was sent. I also requested to speak to a manager/anyone in billing to discuss my reservations about an unnecessary repair I paid for. I haven't heard back from them. I would assume that they value professionalism and satisfied customers and am disappointed to have been treated this way as a past client. read more

I was going to be charged $500 for a $12.00 capacitor that takes two seconds to install. If that isn't ridiculous this is for sure 1,200 for a fan Motor that normally cost $300-$700 installed .. service man was rude rushing me to decide acting all nervous shaking his leg etc ..No thanks Bud! Next! Oh and they charge a $49 service fee for estimates reg $100... update( Sept 9) over a month later as will not allow me to respond below to your message .. all capacitors r inexpensive and range $12-$25 and takes a minute to put on.. the technician in this case told Me initially I need a 40 power not 35.. then comes back telling me my fan is shot( when he didn't even remove the cover and check fan wires etc ) .. well I got the 40+ and it has worked awesome ever since .. no fan motor issues .. as far as within my budget or not I felt scammed. I think of the others who can't afford and r taken advantage and feel have no choice while enduring this Texas heat.. read more

I first became familiar with Precision Heating and Air a year ago, when we were on vacation and our young house-sitter reported that our air conditioning was out. From out of state, I called the best-rated place I could find on Yelp that operated after-hours, and Precision answered and came right out. We signed an annual maintenance agreement with them, and have been pleased with their full-service care. Last night, our a/c once again went out after 9 PM on a Friday, of course! Still, they made it straight out... only to find that the problem was electric and not the cooling system. This morning, an electrician came out and said that, in his experience, a/c companies are typically wrong when they diagnose electrical issues, but that Precision was right on the nose. That's why they're on our "call first" list when we have issues with our climate control! Very pleased all around. read more
