I always like to try new restaurants that open in my area, especially when they serve my comfort foods. I am now on a low carb diet and seem to eat chicken or meat shawarma or kafta kabobs twice or three times a week. So, when I saw the sign for the Shawarma Grill, I had to check it out. I was going to a friend's for dinner so I ordered the combo for two (he could eat the rice and beans). The food is excellent. The chicken shawarma is cooked in the open kitchen and sliced to order. It is tender, juicy and melts in your mouth. I also enjoyed the meat kafta. I'm not a fan of the chicken cream chop, but my friend seemed to enjoy it. This place is great. I was sick when I went in there, and the guy answered all my questions. Before I even asked, he voluntarily gave to taste all the soups, kabob samples so I can decide what to get. He made it spicy for me too as I was sick. Kafta Kabobs were PERFECT. I stopped in here for lunch on a Monday and there were a few people in line in front of me. There were three workers making food and everyone was super friendly. One of the workers was even handing out samples of the different types of meat and soups for customers to try before making a decision on what to order. I ordered the chicken shawarma wrap combo which came with a side and a drink. You are able to customize your wrap/salad/bowl with different veggies and sauces, the staff gave recommendations if you were unsure of what to put on your sandwich. There were several sides to choose from (fries, salad, hummus, soup, etc.) but I opted for the crushed lentil soup which was very flavorful. Best shawarma's I've had in the metro Detroit area. They load the toppings up and will give you extra if you ask! Prices are cheap. I highly recommend getting the French fries on the shawarma! The place is rather dirty. Hopefully I just went in at a bad time because it really needed to be swept and windows washed. They also allowed customers to speak to them over the glass barrier that is supposed the food safe from spit and hair! It looked like there was a staff members used drink in the cooler as well. This place is pretty good I stopped in here quite often their garlic sauce is really strong so be careful if you want bad breath but overall quality food quality ingredients friendly staff really can't say much bad about them. First visit here, menu is simple but the options are endless everything is appetizing and delicious! I got the basic beef schwarma sandwich..."Sandwich" as it's wrapped in a grilled tortilla, which is expected. Picked my veggies and hady order up in minutes. The beef was excellently seasoned and the garlic sauce was to die for. Highly recommended and this is now my new lunch spot when in the area. Problem is I am not here enough to try everything! I've come to the Shawarma Grill three times so far, the staff that I've encountered so far have been friendly and helpful. I called in once to order over the phone for pickup, no problem. The last two times that I've called in orders to pickup, tonight being the third, I get there and let the clerk know that I'm there to pick up and pay for my order and the woman looked at the man puzzled when I told her I had a pickup. She even made a sarcastic comment, which really wasn't necessary. I pursue peace, so I didn't respond to her. The shawarmas weren't ready, even though the gentleman told me over the phone they would be ready in ten minutes; my wife being my witness to the call in order. So we had to wait, oh well. That's my only frustration, other than that, I plan to continue to dine there. read more

This place saved the day for me. I had family coming and wanted something healthy. I was sitting waiting for my daughter to be done at the hair salon and decided to try this place. I like the concept. Instead of just ordering a shawarma you can create your own sandwich or bowl. I created a sandwich and IT IS SO GOOD! I am glad I decided to try it. The chicken is juicy. The garlic sauce and hummus is excellent (I tried spicy hummus by the way). Went there for the first time today and it was amazing! The lady there who helped me was so sweet and caring. The food was great, best falafel I've ever had in my entire life. I had spiced rice with spicy hommus, pickled cabbage and turnips, falafels and a veggie grape leaf. All were so delicious! I loved the spices. Big portions too, I couldn't finish it all.
