We hit up the Shawarma Spot food truck at The Heist food truck pod. We ordered the lamb wrap. Size was large. Could use some more lettuce and tomato with the lamb. The sauce ratio was

We were hungry and a lot of places close at 10 PM , we definetly didnt want to eat fast food so we looked to see what else was open and saw that this place was still open late. so we decided to drive over as we were staying at the Portland airport best western. I believe it was about a ten min drive from the hotel. We were able to find parking directly behind the food truck in the little lot. I imagine it gets much busier during the day time and even early evening. The two guys working the truck that night were friendly and asked what we wanted to order. We ordered a lamb gyro i believe it was a #1 it was only $11 plus a drink. When we got our order the gyro was nice size with lots of meat and toppings. It did not take very long for our order and there were several other parties waiting for food as well. We were both thrilled with our choice as the flavors were great and it was more than enough food without the fries. Will go back to try them out again. The ambiance is street food so depends on your personal preference i have no problem with that setting the food was great and i received good service.

3 meat combo, a yummy good deal.

The new happy hour (1-2 pm) special is one of better deals in the food cart scene. Portion was ample, the rice tasty and fluffy, while the hummus side smooth and creamy. The gyro was my favorite of the tri-meat sampler. Window guy was cool.

Tasty stuffs! Really enjoyed their Chicken Gyro and Lamb Arabi, which was basically the Lamb Wrap with Fries. Those fries were soso worth it though. Fresh, hot, and crispy. Also got great seasonings on them. Both the gyro and arabi came with plenty of meat and sauce, maybe even a tad too saucy. Do ask for napkins! But they weren't salty or too heavy by any means. Extra credits for opening till late too; we need more of that in PDX.

Great food truck stand. Pleasant staff. For the price, i was hoping to get a decent serving. The chicken shawarma was very tasty, not salty at all, which i like; however, i thought their portion was very small... for the meat and rice, it was $14 and it was not a lot of meat and rice, compared to most places i've tried... and believe, we eat Mediterranean food pretty often. I also mentioned no sauce, whatsoever, just the garlic sauce, however i still got these 2 sauces on d side, which combines, seemed more than the meat/rice itself. Hopefully in the future they can be more generous on their portions. Otherwise, i love it!

    Wrong order

I ordered the Tri-meat shawarma and they only put lamb in it. When I brought it back and showed them it only had lamb in it they said I only ordered lamb shawarma. I showed them the receipt and they refused to remake it after waiting 40 minutes. Never coming back here

Food is absolutely amazing no matter what time you go! It shows how much they care about good quality food when you can go at either 2pm or 2am and get the same good food

We were able to try a wide variety of dishes, and every single one was exceptional. I have dietary restrictions (no onions or garlic), and the kitchen and staff were incredibly accommodating. They prepared separate versions of several dishes for me without hesitation, and I never felt like I was getting a lesser experience. It's rare to find a restaurant that can accommodate food sensitivities so thoughtfully while still delivering incredible flavor. The food was absolutely delicious from start to finish, and the service was impeccable. The staff was warm, attentive, and made our birthday celebration feel special without ever being overbearing. Everyone in our group left talking about how amazing the food was. We couldn't have asked for a better meal or a better overall experience. Mediterranean Exploration Company has definitely earned a spot on our list of favorite Portland restaurants, and we can't wait to come back.

We weren't too hungry and ordered 3 dishes to share - the hamachi crudo, baked feta with Blackberries, and braised Greek greens. The service was pretty fast, we received our food within 15 mins. The hamachi crudo was tasty with fresh fish that balanced well with the yummy smoked eggplant, tamarind soy, black harissa mayo, and crispy ginger. The baked feta was the heartiest dish, it came out with piping hot pitas to dip into the creamy savory/sweet feta and Blackberries. The braised Greek greens felt like the most basic dish out of the 3, collard greens cooked with a lemon/olive oil finish, which tasted as described but not exciting enough to order again. Just as the name implies, this restaurant is a nice way to try Mediterranean dishes for those who don't eat it often. Admittedly, the cuisine isn't in our top favorites, but all the dishes were executed well, true to their description, and made for some fun bites.

Nicholas Restaurant has a really cute, welcoming vibe, with outdoor tables and plenty of seating inside. We started with a few appetizers for the table: hummus, tzatziki, and falafel balls. Everything came out quickly and was a hit. The hummus tasted incredibly fresh, the tzatziki had a nice tangy kick, and the falafel balls were perfectly crispy and flavorful. For my main, I ordered the chicken breast kabob plate, which came with two skewers, rice, tzatziki, and garlic sauce. The chicken was incredibly tender and cooked just right. Overall, a great meal with fresh, flavorful food and a relaxed atmosphere. I can definitely see why my family keeps coming back--this spot is well worth a visit.

It's a nice location and was quite busy on a Tuesday night. We were sat right on time for our reservation. The server recommended 5-7 plates for our party of 3 and let us know that plates come out as they are made (pretty standard). Despite this, there seemed to be no pacing to how dishes came out. All of our dishes came out rapid fire one after another to the point where we didn't have time to finish the small plates and didn't have room on the table. The food itself was largely okay, but nothing to write home about. The two biggest plates we got were the pastrami and the short rib. The pastrami was somewhat dry, though the mustard it was served with was delicious. The short rib was tough and in the rub had one slice that was way too strong and overpowered all the other flavors. The hummus with burnt ends was good from a hummus perspective but the ends were super salty. The cornbread was delicious and probably the favorite plate of the table and the cauliflower was a close second. All in all, a pretty disappointing experience. Maybe it was just a tough night there and we'll give it another try.

The young lady at the counter gave possibly the worst service I have experienced in a long time. She gave no acknowledgment, no recommendation, seemed bothered that we were there, no response when we said thank you multiple times. ZERO ENGAGEMENT! The place is also dirty and appears unkept. The outside seating area has trash and debris from the previous day...we were there right after open... needs to be swept. Doesn't appear like it has been pressure washed in a while either. Planters are smeared with dirt, concrete stained with food buildup and tables need a bath. The inside is just as bad, which starts at the front door. Front glass looks awful...smears, dirt, grime, and streaks galore. There are also signs peeling and tape residue left from signage that used to be present. Soda machine and bathrooms were also beneath expectations. You can't have a "thank you for supporting small business" sign if you aren't doing your part. I would love to support you in the future, BUT service and cleanliness must improve.

So it was a good value for a special occasion. I'll walk you through what we ate: First came their signature green olives with a little bowl for the pits. They had some little pickled red onions in with them. Soooo good! Then focaccia. It was a big hunk that we tore pieces off of and dipped in garlic olive oil. Those were standard with every meal. Now came the fun. The thing I love about tasting menus is you never know what's coming next! It's so much fun to be surprised! They started us off with a seasonal burrata with local strawberries, hazelnuts, fresh basil and a strawberry gastrique. Swoon-worthy! Next we were served the house version of Caesar salad. It came with a wedge of lemon to squeeze over the top. Yum! Next was the thinnest roasted asparagus I've ever eaten. I don't normally like asparagus but I really enjoyed this. It rested on a bed of some sort of puree (I forgot what they said it was). Next was corn ravioli. Sadly it was the only pasta included in this meal. I had been hoping to have another pasta dish or two. The ravioli was special though and not your normal filling, so that was nice. Then came roasted cauliflower on a bed of green goddess sauce. Tasty but I was feeling very healthy by then with all the veggies! (Couldn't they have replaced that with pasta? Sorry, I'm whining here). Our last savory dish was eggplant parm. It came with more focaccia. Again, I'd have loved pasta instead. Isn't that what one goes to an Italian restaurant for? Finally there were delicious, short, buttery Italian wedding cookies. But then our waiter surprised us with cannoli, for our anniversary! It sat atop Maryhill peach compote. Excellent! The service was impeccable. Our waiter was knowledgeable, personable and very attentive. We were also served by some other staff who did a great job as well. Good thing we've been married 42 years. If this was a first date where you want to get to know each other, it would be hard because it's pretty loud and the tables are crammed closely together. They really need a bigger space. We are looking forward to bringing friends and family here in the future.

Superb! I also loved the fresh baked focaccia with its fluffy texture and crackling crust and stuffed with savory rosemary and soft roasted garlic (so good I ended up getting a second order of it). The short rib arancini were crispy with a nice sauce and are ordered by the each. I forgot to mention that the menu is designed for sharing so plan on 2-3 dishes per person. The spicy pork pasta had fun thin ribbons of noodles with a curly edge (like skinny lasagne noodles) and wasn't too spicy. My wife really like the seasonal sweet corn ravioli with its beautiful lite preparation. All this food was more than enough and very reasonably priced. The wine list is small but assembled with a careful eye and the by the glass options were of high quality. Service was friendly and the meal moved along at a relaxed pace. Water glasses were filled and team service ensured prompt delivery of food and clearing of dishes. The dining room is small with a wonderful hand-painted tile floor. Definitely recommended but be sure to make a reservation. They were full by 7 on a Thursday when we visited.
