I love the people that work there, but its a bit pricey for what the food was for me. They do have Gluten Free.

Guthries is a fun, casual restaurant that features live entertainment some evening, and talks and lectures of local interest. Its menu has good choices for meals or hearty snacks, including burritos, quesadillas, soups, and sandwiches, made fresh. Sodas, popular smoothies, Maine beers, and some wines are served. The prices are o.k. The dining area often has a mix of young and not-so-young college students, professionals, and workers from the nearby hospitals and businesses. Seating options include a comfy couch and chairs, pub style tables and stools, and tables, chairs and benches, and the counter at "the bar". Their curry smoothie is amazing and there is always good beer and music here. They have some vegan/vegetarian options which is cool, but the tacos I had were not especially awesome, just ok. Still it's one of the best hangouts in Lewiston/Auburn. The owners are cool people with good taste in tunes. read more

Guthries is always a solid option. My husband and I get takeout from here once a week when we need a quick, healthy meal. Our favorites are the kale and black bean salad, sweet potato quesedilla, the repeater, and Mr. Grieves. We only wish that Guthries was open on Saturdays--it would be nice to have this as a lunch or coffee option on one weekend day. read more

I think there burritos, quesadillas, and desserts are absolutely fabulous. The pulled pork burrito is by far the best, and although you have to wait a long time and pay for guacamole and jalapeños (hence the 4 stars) its still the place I bring my friends and family to. Yum! Delicious gluten free chicken walnut salad sandwich with real sized bread, not the typical tiny gf bread, and really yummy! Also had the super food salad, not quite as flavorful but cool mashed sweet potatoes instead of diced. And awesome friendly staff! I finally ate here after a couple years of wanting too...only reason I waited:location. I did not deduct any stars for location, as that is not fair. I ordered a turkey panini, my wife ordered the chicken caesar salad. Her salad was huge, and delicious. Atmosphere was as expected, very modern and artsy. My panini was small, but as I expected. Art work for sale was overpriced, which is typical...wish artists realized if they sold their stuff half price, it would sell three fold...but can't hold that against restaurant. I found Guthries from the hotel staff where I was staying. I was skeptical but went anyway. The veggie burrito was fresh and delicious. The guacamole was not as flavorful as I would have hoped but the salsa was good. The service was friendly and welcoming. I liked the decor and the music. If I'm ever back in the area, I'd definitely stop back for a burrito and a beer. read more

I eat there at least once a week. I am hooked on their veggie burritos and two bean burritos. My wife loves their quesadillas and their "superfood salad". They are very "green" in their choice of tableware, decorations, etc. They regularly display art from local artists and feature local bands on weekends. Service was okay - not particularly friendly, but okay, the atmosphere was fine, the food was blah. I ordered the carrot ginger soup, and a half super food salad and a chicken/bean quesadilla. The soup was solid but was a little under seasoned, the salad greens were fresh but he dressing I ordered (lemon olive oil) was overly lemony and needed to be balanced and was also under seasoned, the sweet potato that came on the salad was basically a lump of mashed potato and was also, you guessed it, under seasoned. The quesadilla game with chips and salsa, the salsa needed salt and tasted very fresh but flavorless. The chicken was dry. There was no salt or pepper at the table so the seasoning issues could have been easily corrected, but they weren't available. The quesadilla was the most flavorful item but the rest of the food was blah. The ingredients (they seemed fresh and good quality!) should have come together in the rest of the dishes, but they were so under seasoned with subpar execution read more

Wow, what a nice little place I thought as we entered. After a late night the day before our traveling group decided to go somewhere quiet with a light menu and we found our perfect spot at Guthries. The menu is very simple with nice little sandwiches, burritos and salads. I had a vegetarian burrito with smoked tofu and was not disappointed, especially with the unexpectedly hot salsa that came with it. Come here if you like a laid back hipster atmosphere and organic vegetarian offerings in addition to fantastic looking meat choices. I normally don't order vegetarian but the burrito sounded to good to pass up and I was not disappointed. They have a nice selection of beers and wines as well as coffee bar and many tea choices. Best food in Lewiston/Auburn. Fresh, super delicious ingredients every single time. I've been frequenting here for three years, and have always received fast, friendly service from the staff, in addition to enjoying the creative scrumptious menu items. I eat vegetarian mostly and Guthrie's is one of my go-to spots in downtown Lewiston for lunch or dinner. All the quesadillas, burritos, soups, and the mediterranean salad are my personal faves -- always super fresh and very filling. They also have a delicious selection of beverages including tea, coffee, Maine-made soda, local beer, and wine. I appreciate that they usually feature a local artist on the walls and keep a regular schedule of entertainment. They always have very friendly and quick service. My favorite place to eat in the L/A area! I've been going there since they opened, and have never had a bad experience. The Repeater Quesadilla is the best, and all the food is so fresh and yummy! most things more people say about this place is true. two unique comments: -1 star for being closed on a weekend. we've passed it many times, and it's been closed. get a job. develop a work ethic. we deserve, we are entitled to come here on weekends. learn how to hire what is called 'an assistant manager', or a 'weekend' manager. and, I think upon enquiring it is not the case that she who must be obeyed did not like the name 'Guthries', but she did not like Guthry's restaurant's name, which was "Alice's Restaurant". we would go back. This is my favorite place in town to grab a bite to eat or a beer with friends. It's casual, friendly, has a great atmosphere, and the food is fantastic. There are many vegetarian options, as well as fresh, healthy, locally-grown selections (Heather and Randy, the owners, grow much of the food right in their backyard). The owners and staff are friendly and accommodating. There is live music at least once a week, and local beers on tap. What's not to love? read more

I found this place here prior to our visit to Lewiston for the weekend. I cannot emphasize how good the food was here. We had the pulled pork burrito, a vegetarian burrito and a chicken salad panini and all were fabulous. As another reviewer mentioned, we were only disappointed that we could not go back the next day as it was Saturday. read more

I'm a regular at Guthries and it's fantastic every time. I have dietary restrictions and they've never once gotten my order wrong. You can get literally anything on the menu and leave happy! I only wish they were open on the weekend, because I could eat their food seven days a week! read more
