This place is terrible. Horrible service and mediocre bagels. Jersey prides itself on the quality of its bagels. These bagels are small, overcooked, and have an unpleasantly sweet aftertaste. Not necessarily a flavor you want in your bagel. With so many other options in New Jersey for excellent bagels and wonderful customer service, you would be doing yourself a favor by avoiding this place. The staff's usual behavior is just along the lines of rude and unacceptable. On some occasions the coworkers almost seemed annoyed that I was disturbing them by ordering food. You are an employee in the food industry. If you don't want to be bothered with customers, get another job. Plain and simple. You have been warned about this sub-par establishment. read more

Best Bagels. Period, case closed. The chewiness of the insides combined with the hardness of the exterior provides a bagel experienced you can only get from New York City. Jose, one of the workers, provides a fun experience and light hearted conversation each visit. He and I go back and forth all the time, whether he tries to give me a free bagel or decline my tip! The bagels are second to none, and so is the experience! The only flaw is that they don't take credit card. Not to slander on any other bagel store around, but the quality and love that each bagel seems to be made with at Sheepshead, is a trait that no other shop has! Keep it upsheepshead! read more

This is quite long, but it needs to be said. Absolutley the WORST service I have ever gotten there (I was a frequent customer). First I called and asked if they had flaggels- flat bagels, the man on the phone said no, I said ok, and he hung up! Ok honest mistake, I called back to place my order. I asked for a scooped out toasted onion bagel with PEC, egg runny (not trying to be difficult, its due to digestive issues) and my husbands order was a scoped out toasted everything with Cream Cheese. Great, Ok, I drove 20 mins to get there, went in paid for my order, the young man at the counter verified the order and it was also correct on the brown bag. Great. Drove another 20 minutes home to wondering why the bag was leaking, on my car seat, on my kitchen floor, then my counter. Could not imagine what was leaking. I took the bagel out and the entire bag is full of melted butter everywhere, I mean everywhere. So I notice the bagel has no cream cheese. I called to just let them know, and the man who said "he is kinda an owner, owmers son" was first, "how can I help you?" then when I told him the issue, his response was "that's it, you didnt have cream cheese, what else?" OK....so I said I just wanted to let you know as it is now all in my car, melted everywhere. Words back and forth, he kept talking over me and had an attitude the whole time. I wasnt getting anywhere, he was not sopeaking to me as a paying customer and was less than sincerly apologetic. So I hung up. I go the bag and take out the otehr sandwich and it is not correct either, the egg was a scrambled large mound, and I can not digest it, it was not a runny overeasy egg(says it on the bag) so I called back, because instead of making me feel foolish over an honest mistake that they made, now both items in my order were not correct and it wasnt fair. I could have just let it go, and in the large scheme of things I could have, but I called back to let them know it was not just a "No cream cheese issue." He could care less, he said "I was going to drive the order to you", and it was beyond that it was more the way he spoke to me as a customer and the attitude stance he took. I did not expect somone to drive all the way to give us new bagels at this point. This world has turned into just rude selfish people, with no sense of customer service, basic kindness or basic manners. I work hard for my money, and if I paid for something I had every right to complain. I am the customer! I have always treated everyone with kindness, whether they are a cashier, bus boy, or owner of a business. He was yelling over me, continued to be a hard @$$ and said I was being disrepsectful, because I said "the order was written on the bag in plain english", but it was a saying that was just a fiugure of speech, so then he accued me of being out of line, and making fun or workers. He knew that is not what I meant. I am just so disappointed in what this world has come to, and I will not be spoken to in that way from anyone, especially when I gave you my money for your business. He screemed that he is the best bagel place around in NJ, and I won't find better bagels anywhere else......he continued to talk over me, and he said " I let you speak, now let me speak" he was screaming so loud my husband on the phone with a headset on could hear him. Moral of the story, there is no such thing anymore as the customer first, there is no more manners towards women or men from anyone, today it was it. Just got hot fresh everything and plain in advance of Hurricane Sandy. Crisp outside and moist inside, perfect chewy to doughy ratio. Heaven has bagels like this... Bring them to family in VA and ME every time I can to keep them happy. They get awfully cranky if I don't! read more

The breakfasts and sandwiches are usually very good however when I was there in the summer there were houseflies on the bagels/ rolls- I thought maybe a few got in and it was a fluke thing- then in Jan 2015 I went and there was a HUGE fly on the rolls- should not be bugs in winter unless poor hygeine-they need to get some pest control or something going there- pretty grossed out by the flies on the food read more

Pretty good bagels but owner is incredibly rude. I simply asked if they had any more everything bagels and without a word, he grabbed the empty basket from the shelf, and threw it on the floor. He returned from the back and slammed the new basket on the shelf. I asked if there was a problem and he replied "only when we are out of bagels" to which I answered "you don't appear to be out of them." Now he replied, "do you want the bagels or not?" OK so our family loves this place and always have. We go here at least once a week but the last several weeks, we've been noticing that the bagels are shrinking! First I thought that it may have been who ever was making them that particular day, now I know it's who ever is making them period. Perhaps they need to stretch product to increase revenue but seriously, I rather you charge me a dime more and make the bagels the way you use to. When making a chewy bagel with a nice crust, it just won't work when it's a skinny bagel. All your gonna get is a bagel that seems to be stale. Please go back to the way you use to make your bagels not long ago and if you need more revenue, just please bill us an additional nickel or dime. In the long run it will beat losing customers like our families. Sorry but it had to be said. I will gladly change my review if I see an improvement. read more

The bagels are pretty good and you can often get one fresh and hot. But man, are they rude, and proud of it. I ordered bagels and when the lady came back with them I asked pretty politely for a coffee. She said Nuh uh No. Because it meant she would have to walk back the 4 feet to the coffee maker. Really? I'm in shock. I moved less than a year ago from ny and these bagels may be good for nj, but are not good if you have ever had real access to good bagels. The French toast bagel is different and I guess tasty. Bagels taste sweet. What is that? Also very small bagels. I didn't order a mini bagel people. I think this place is not a good representation for "Jersey bagels". Terrible...for some reason the bagels only have seeds on one side. Asked for my bagel double toasted, last time it was barely toasted with lox cream cheese. The bagel was agin barely toasted, the person said he haven't understood what double toasted was. The lox cream cheese was regular cream cheese with what looked like pink dye, tasted terrible. Place should have stayed in Brooklyn along with their attitude! Got charged 8 dollars for a bagel with the lox spread cream cheese everywhere else in jersey it's 3 or 4 bucks. I thought they may have made a mistake thinking it was the actual sliced salmon lox because the blonde chick ringing me up was clueless. And if that was too much for her I asked where the bathroom was and she goes "in the back". I'm like alright and the "back is where?"...she gave me this put out look and rudely tells me to hold on as if she was doing brain surgery trying to ring me up my order. I got a whole wheat bagel with egg whites, pork roll and spinach and it was really good. My boyfriend gets the bacon egg and cheese on sesame and it's great every time. Has the NY style taste. It's unique and not found anywhere else around here. Highly recommend. read more

Very good fresh bagels. Even the construction guy who did renovation said that they LOVE to go every morning there to buy the bagels.

Sorry but when you charge me $1.00 for a bialy that you get frozen -someone is taking advantage. Especially when Shoprite gets them directly from Brooklyn as well and charges 50 cents a piece. I would so give this place 5 stars for they're awesome food and service, except for the lady there. She's so miserable and could care less about the customer. She's slow, throws the food on the counter, always has an attitude and really makes my experience there terrible when she serves me. The other guys are great! If you go there, try your hardest not to get served by her, especially if you're in a rush to get your breakfast which most of the time i am. I've been going there for years and she's always like that. read more
