The restaurant has tablets for which you place your order. If there's no line you can walk up to the cashier and they will do your order there. The food is on the definitely the expensive side and the portion is kind of small. I definitely had much larger and more filling Shawarma for less money. We went to try as there was lots of talk about Shelby's legendary Shawarma especially with all these stores popping around. The food I would say is very middle ground. Not amazing and not bad. Will definitely fit your Shawarma cravings if this is the closest one to you. The restaurant had a bunch of tables and is pretty clean from what I remember they either did not have music or they played it very low volume. When I went, there wasn't too many other people so we took it to go.

Nice atmosphere with a good buzz. The flavours and intensity of them I really enjoyed in the chicken shawarma bowl. It was actually my wife who complained that the portion size is too small and she actually had to have another meal later to compensate. Portion size in comparison to other shawarma places that offer a box instead of a circular shallow bowl.

Looks good packaging but gross inside.

I tried this place because I heard a lot about it. I ordered a regular chicken shawarma wrab. First, I will compliment the cashier, upon seeing I was dining in and after giving me my order, he quickly wiped one of the tables so I could sit on a clean table. That's one extra star given. Otherwise on to the food which is already high at 1 star at best. I don't know why this place is so highly rated. I saw another review that they came and had a horrible experience but came back numerous times only then to be satisfied and to give this place many tries. I'm sorry, that won't happen here. I will describe the wrab as they call it, it had a funky smell and taste to it right from the get go. The chicken shawarma was borderline gross and sickening. The meat was literally dark brown and closer to the black scale. Now btw I love wraps. But, I will not be coming here again for their wrabs and I won't give them another chance just to see their other offerings and maybe like it. I will stick to a Greek souvlaki or gyros on a pita, as it is 1000 times better than this absolutely gross chicken shawarma wrab.

IF IT'S NOT TIGHT, IT'S NOT RIGHT! Shawarma man was literally all over my youtube feed after I watched ONE Shelby's vid. Dude is hilarious I'll give him that. The food also looked incredible from the videos he was shooting. I had been to Shelby's flagship in Oakville in the past so I was hoping that this location would live up as it's fairly new. It didn't disappoint! While I still prefer the Oakville location, this one is close enough to me in terms of distance. The place is absolutely packed most days still so when I order here I usually order ahead and do pickup. I've tried the legendary wrap, legendary bowl, shawarma mac n' cheese and also the limited time shawarma tikka masala. All very good. HUGE portion sizes. The tikka masala came w/ fresh saj bread on the side so the leftover rice lasted me for 2 meals (and I'm a pretty big eater). Mac n' cheese was just ok imo. I don't think I'd order it again cuz the noodles were a lil overcooked. The chipotle sauce was good but overall, the dish was a lil too salty for my liking. I will be returning to try the shawarma biryani! Shoutout to Raj for helping me w/ speedy pickup when I arrived!

Heard about all the hype of Shelby's to had to see what everyone was raving about. My first time I got one of the bacon shawarma wraps (not sure if it was bacon halloumi or bacon caesar) but it was not good for my palette at all. It tasted very strong of spices and I actually couldn't finish the wrap since I didn't enjoy the taste of it at all. However, I did give it a second chance and went back to try their beef/ lamb wrap which came with beef and lamb, wrapped in a baked saj bread stuffed with fries, pickles, tomatoes, sumac onions, tahini, hummus, and regular or spicy garlic. This time around it was much better than the first and would get this again. I didn't think it was as amazing as everyone said it was but can understand why it was so tasty and why everyone loved it. Packed with flavours and nicely wrapped. Give it a try, and maybe try more than one thing before making your judgement on if this place is good or not.

A couple of friends have been raving about how yummy Shelby's Legendary Shawarma is. One friend loves getting a shawarma wrap from this place. The other likes getting the shawarma bowl. They order from this place weekly. Over a week ago, we decided to have dinner together and order in at their business. We ordered from Uber Eats. I got to share a bit of the legendary Shelby's chicken wrap with spicy garlic sauce and turnips. I ordered the regular chicken shawarma bowl with garlic sauce and turnips. We got it delivered. It took maybe twenty minutes tops for our food to arrive. We then chowed down. I got to sample the chicken shawarma wrap. It was yummy. The spicy garlic sauce provided a subtle kick to the wrap. There were generous chunks of tender, flavourful chicken, with turnips, tomatoes, and more. I loved it. I also loved my chicken shawarma bowl so much that I ate it all and didn't take any photos. Ugh! I got it with half fries and half salad as my base. It was perfect. The fries were crispy and yummy. The salad satisfied my cravings. The garlic sauce was so good with everything, including the generous morsels of chicken that I got. This eatery takes over from the old Teriyaki Experience location. It's another bittersweet change. I had been going to this eatery for over a decade and miss it already. Seating is limited. Shelby's basically extended the kitchen space out from where it used to be with Teriyaki Experience. Seating is closest to windows. I'm happy that Shelby's is in Markham. The food is excellent. I'll be back to get another bowl and hope that I'll remember to take photos before I devour my food! I've been to Shelby's Shawarma before and usually go for the shawarma wraps, but I decided to try the beef and lamb bowl this time--and loved it! Definitely one of the better shawarma spots in the city. I'd recommend others give it a try too.

This is the best shawarma I have eaten. The warps are made fresh to order and they load it with your protein of choice. The service was a little slow as it took a while to get my wrap but it was worth the wait. The interior is quite small but there is still ample seating.

Legendary Mixed Bowl (lamb and beef)

If you're looking for a shawarma place with quality and good value, then you have to try Shelby's. I got their Mixed Bowl Legendary (lamb and beef) with rice and fries, I cannot express in words how flavourful this combination tasted. The meat tasted very juice and the sauces gave it a little kick, but balances it out with the hummus. For a legendary size meal under $20, this was absolutely value in my eyes. The Legendary Bowl is really big, so if you don't plan to save for next day, I would suggest regular size. The service here is what really would bring me back again. They have machines where you can order directly there and a screen to track your order. It is one of the better ones I've seen handling big crowds (yes, this place can get busy!). I went on Happy Shawarma Day where it was half price and orders had at least 1.5 hour wait. They handled it like a champ. They were willing to give a call back when your order is ready so the place won't get crowded. It's the little things that make the experience great and they nailed it! Kudos to the owner. Will I come back again when craving for some shawarma? Heck ya!

This is not a Fattoush salad. Leave Arabic foods to Arabs and not give it a curry twist. Disgusting

Got an order of fries and two orders of their chicken shawarma wrap. The wraps were good, but it did have more pita ratio to their chicken and toppings. It's one of the closer locations to me. I then found that there's a Tahini's in the Malvern area of Scarborough. Frankly, both are equidistant to me. This past Saturday, I was stopped at a light on Highway 7. I saw a sign for Tahini's. What?! A Tahini's in Markham? Yes! I came here tonight to fetch dinner. Sadly, this eatery takes over from Shawarma Stop, a long-established eatery. I place an order on Uber Eats. I got the tandoori chicken shawarma wraps. It was a BOGO deal on the app. I was given an estimate of fifteen minutes for my order to be ready. I was fairly close by, so I drove over to the eatery and waited in the plaza. There was plenty of parking. What can be confusing are the two doors. You enter and exit the one on the left when you are looking at the store's exterior. The door on the right is an emergency exit. I walked in. It was bright and inviting. I like that the pickup area has a sign that you can't miss. I saw my name on the screen. It looked like it was still being prepared. Two men were behind the counter, making my wraps. I let them know my name and my order. They said that they needed five more minutes. I was good and took photos. One of them noticed that I liked the decor. I had no idea that Tahini's started in London, ON. We got to talking about my visiting the Richmond Hill location. I was thrilled that this location is much closer. I asked them how long this eatery has been open for. It's pretty new. This week is the third week since it has been open for business. They also nodded when I said that it used to be Shawarma Stop. I saw them put my wraps together and grill them. It was cool seeing the entire process. They put my items in individual sleeves, and then in a paper bag, followed by sealing it. I thanked them and headed out the door with my food. I then drove home to have one of them for dinner. This wrap was awesome. I asked for no additional spicy sauce. The tandoori chicken was flavourful, with a bit of heat already. The chicken morsels were so tender and yummy. The veggies were fresh. I loved the crunchy pickles. I loved the wrap. It was thin enough to hold everything inside without ripping. Yummy! Welcome to Markham, Tahini's! I'm so glad that you're here. I'll be back for more good eats. (379)

The take-out counter was open, so we opted for that instead. Most of the foods on display were ready-to-go and vegetarian / vegan. You can also order manakeesh (Lebanese flatbread topped with toppings such as cheese, spinach, and za'atar - akin to thin-crust pizza) to be made on site. We opted for the vegetarian mix-and-match plates, which came with either rice or salad, 5 small sides, and 3 falafels. Most of the items were pretty good, my favourites being the arnabeet (cauliflower), eggplant with chickpeas and tomato-based sauce, bamya (okra), and white cannellini beans salad. The warak enab (also called dolma or stuffed grape vine leaves) was flavourless and had too much ratio-to-grape vine leaves ratio (more rice inside that I'd like). The tabbouleh was way too salty. The other dishes were good though. Although the manakeesh was made fresh to order, it came out pretty fast. It was also extremely salty. There were a few small tables by the take-out counter, for those who wish to eat the take-out items on the spot. They packaged all the items very well to avoid leakage.

A couple of Saturdays ago, I needed to grab some takeout for dinner. I did a search on my Uber Eats app and found Tahini's. I got the following items: - Regular habibi bowl (BOGO) - Beef samosas (2) I got an estimated time of fifteen minutes for my food to be ready. I drove over to this eatery and backed into a parking spot. I waited a bit before I headed inside the eatery to pick my food up. I headed to the counter on the left. A woman said hi. When I indicated that I had an Uber Eats order, she abruptly interrupted me and said that I needed to be on the right. I didn't feel any warmth from her. I felt like I was scolded by her for not knowing. It was my first time at this eatery. The only door in and out of this eatery is directly in front of this woman. Naturally, folks would head over to you, especially a newbie like me. You order on the left. You pick up your food on the right. Got it. I made my way over to the right. I had a friendly woman there who let me know that she was waiting for my beef samosas. Cool. It was enough time for me to take photos. The unpleasant woman seemed happier talking to a male colleague in front of the protein spits. I took a photo. She looked my way. She seemed to default to her sour disposition again. I had the inclination to delete the photo capturing her unpleasant expression, and take another photo once she went into the kitchen. It's one star off my rating. She clearly didn't like me. The feeling was mutual. The beef samosas were done. Yay! The other woman packed up everything and handed me my paper bag full of food. I thanked her and wished her a good evening. She reciprocated. I then headed to my car and drove home. I had the beef samosas first. OMG! They were delicious. The wrapper was crispy and not greasy. The beef filling was generous and yummy. I should have got six. Yum! I had one of the regular bowls that evening and the other the following day. I specified light hot sauce. It was perfect. The chicken shawarma was tender and yummy. I liked the toum. It had the perfect amount of garlic. The parsley provided a pop of colour. It didn't taste like anything. The rice was fluffy and delicious. This bowl was excellent. I had the other bowl for dinner the following day. It heated up nicely and was equally as yummy. I loved everything that I had consumed. I'll be back for a shawarma wrap and more. I'm hoping that the sourpuss woman isn't there upon my return. (451)

The interior of the restaurant was spacious and comfortable. We received a warm welcome by the amiably attentive staff from the moment we entered. We placed our order immediately - falafels, hummus, labneh, moutabbal, and arnabeet - and didn't have to wait long for our food to arrive. We were given two freshly baked steaming hot homemade pitas which came straight from their stone oven. The food here is very good. The falafels were deliciously made with ground chickpeas, super seasoned with fresh herbs. They were scrumptiously salty, fried to a crispy golden brown, topped with sesame seeds and served with a tahini dip. Next was the fried cauliflower which was tossed in a tahini-garlic sauce and drizzled with copious amounts of sour lemon. The sour lemony taste of the arnabeet served as a counterpoint to the salty flavour of the crunchy falafels. Served with fresh baked pita bread came the delightful hummus, labneh, moutabbal dips. The moutabbal was exceptionally tasty made with fire roasted eggplant, blended with tahini-garlic topped with a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil and jewelled with a sprinkling of pomegranate seeds. The hummus was an excellently smooth blend of chickpeas and creamy tahini. A solid choice. The labneh pressed yogurt mixed with garlic, drizzled with olive oil and topped with zaatar seasoning of thyme and sesame seeds. Their dessert section appealed to me, particularly the Lebanese Kinafe boat made from shredded vermicelli filled with cheese baked and drizzled with sweet rose blossom syrup, served in a freshly baked sesame pie. My review is a bit different. I had ordered a strawberry milkshake and a Dubai fudge brownie from Boardwalk. It took fifteen minutes for it to be made. Probably at the ten-minute mark, the lone male staffer at Boardwalk asked the lone man at Lava Grill to help him out. This Boardwalk-Lava Grill combo location used to be South St. Burger. Markham used to have two locations. It now has zero, which is a downer. I came here at nearly 9 pm on a Wednesday evening. There were lots of parking spots. I pulled into one and entered the store. There is one entrance for both eateries. When you enter the place, Lava Grill appears first. You walk down a bit to get to Boardwalk. There was a couple enjoying a meal. I was the only person at the order area, which is shared between the two eateries. Both places accept credit and debit cards. Communication is an issue at Boardwalk. This man continued making burgers and fries after I had paid. He didn't let me know how long it would take to make my order. I wasn't in a rush, but I didn't know that it would take fifteen minutes for two folks to try and make my milkshake. I noticed that burger man got Lava guy to make my shake after waiting for ten minutes. They both went into the back. Burger man came back to assemble the burgers. Lava guy was still in the back. My guess was that there was some issue making my shake. Again, I got no communication until Lava guy came out to look at my order and told me it would be two minutes. Um, sure. I didn't believe it. I was right. I decided to sit down. I will give Lava guy props for communicating how long it would take. I never got that with burger man. Burger man had finished making the burgers. He went outside. He came back in. His first communication to me was two fingers up in the area. Again, communication from him needed work. Did he mean two minutes or a victory that I was unaware of?! Five minutes later, I saw a shake come out from the back. Lava guy was holding it. Lava guy took a box with a brownie and packed it in a paper bag. I got a napkin, a fork, and a spoon. He handed me a pretty strawberry shake and my paper bag. I thanked both guys, more relieved than anything, and left. I got into my car and drove home. The guy at Lava Grill saved me from waiting heaven knows how long for two items had he not helped out. He gets four stars. I'll need to head back to Lava Grill and get some food. Came here a few times for early dinner a few times and enjoyed it both times…read more I ordered the small chicken madhi plate, which is very filling. We didn't have to wait long before the food was served. The chicken came off the bone so easily, and it was nicely seasoned as well. The dish came on a large bed of rice and a delicious lentil soup, along with dipping sauce. The price was pretty affordable given the size as well. The place was brightly lit and there was lots of space each time I went. Definitely worth checking out if you're in the area.

This was my first time trying Mandi and boy, it was delicious!…read more I wonder why I had never tried this before. Their slow-cooked lamb mandi plate was the star of the show for me. I am usually that person who does this like lamb as much coz of the smell but trust me when I say, this was the softest and juiciest no-smell lamb I have ever had. It was melt-in-your-mouth soft and packed with flavor! The rice portion was enough for 2-3 people to share depending on how hungry you are. It also comes with fried onions and potato on the rice. The chicken and lamb mixed mandi was good too but honestly after trying the lamb, I was sold! However, I did like the rice on the chicken mandi better than the lamb one. I thought it tasted better. The place was quite busy and it's an order-at-counter system they follow but the food was brought in quickly which is appreciated.
