We came here for lunch to finally try the food! The vineyard burger was delicious with wine soaked grilled onions and herbed goat cheese. My only complaint is that it was dripping with grease/juices - maybe the cooks need to let them drain a bit before putting them on the bun. It was kid of hard to eat so I ended up using a fork. My husband's Fatty burger was filled with like 3 different kinds of meat and he enjoyed it - later he had a heart attack. Just kiddin.... Their beer list continues to impress me with a little of everything, mostly local but sometimes from out of Cali. One of my favs in the Shark Attack Red Ale....yum! Our 2 burgers and 2 beers somehow came to almost $50 so it's not the cheapest place but if you consider where you are (a few blocks from the ocean), I suppose it's about right since I'm sure this place was expensive to build/maintain. Disappointed to say the least. I am a regular at their other restaurant in Arroyo Grande and expected the same service and quality of food. I did come on a Sunday evening after regular dinner hours (7:30pm) and ordered chicken wings... It was clear these wings were old and made much earlier in the day. My wife ordered a ahi salad which was very good and thus giving the 3 stars instead of 1. On another note: Why have a restaurant without proper bathrooms? "REALLY... One stall for a place this big?" said by my wife... again the reason for the 3 star review and not 4. Enjoyed this place so much- dined two nights in a row during our long weekend central coast mini vacay! Typically, it takes me a bit of time to research for a place to eat that serves good food and has good bar stool- high seating because it's more comfy for someone with a bad back. This time, I didn't have that much time to research, so I quickly searched through Yelp for a 'bar' and came across a really well written review about a good stout that tastes like Reese's peanut butter cup. I was sold. First night- for the two of us, tried the 'Cuyama' cocktail and the Moscow mule, with a Baja street style salad, brewhouse burger, and wings- classic buffalo style. Everything was yummy. The dressing for the salad had a good kick to it and I really loved the big slices of avo in it. The burger was also yummy- juicy and flavorful. The wings did not disappoint either. Although my mouth did burn, in a good way, a bit after this meal. Good thing the Cuyama is refreshing. So, I was eyeing the beets salad the nice couple sitting next to us was having. The lady (who's a local) told me it was great and shared a tip of getting a side of ranch to sprinkle over the balsamic beets! I ordered one to go- snack for the hot tubbing later. Beets salad- 'OMG' kind of good! Second night- starving after roaming Avila Beach and Pismo Beach. Needed to grab a bite to eat before we headed back for the mineral spring soak and massages. Made a direct drive to Shell Beach Brewhouse.This time, I had the Reese's tasting beer 'BelchingBeaver, peanut butter milk stout', the beets salad and wings in balsamic glaze. Wow! Found this place on Yelp. The pictures don't really portray the restaurant. For some reason I thought it was going to be a tough bar. It is a really nice rustic, modern looking building. Super busy! Everyone and their mom were literally there to eat dinner. We had to wait to be seated. However, it wasn't that long. Our waitress was sweet as pie. I had the most amazing beer, that I'm obsessed with, based in San Diego. It is the Belching Beaver, Peanut Butter Milk Shake Stout. As my friend said, it was like drinking a Reese's Pieces. Food portions are large, walked away with left overs. Our game plan was to share our sides with each other. I got the original fries and my friend had the sweet potato fries and we ordered a side of veggies to add some greens to the mix. Glad we did, it was asparagus that night. First time at The Brewhouse. We started with the Boardwalk Kettle Chips. They are covered with garlic (love) and I had a glass of house wine. The house wine was more expensive than other wines on the menu which struck me as odd but it was yummy. My husband got the Capistrano Chicken Sandwich. It looked so good and he really loved it but his only complaint was that bacon was way undercooked. I got the Vineyard Burger and it was amazing. So big that I'll be taking 1/2 home for dinner. I got the sweet potato fries and they were perfect. I would definitely come back and want to come back for dinner. I recommend this place. read more

Visited this place again after 5 years and the food is still great. We ordered the soft pretzels, brussels sprouts, kids chicken nuggets, kids sliders, cowboy cubano, bistro salad, and the "cool as a cucumber" cocktail. Everything was delicious. So we went on a Sunday around 3:30-4pm, cause I heard they are crazy busy. There were tons of tables open at this time. Cool layout. Huge windows. They have a list of draft beers but they do not do pitchers. They have 2 sizes. "Regular" and "large", the large size beer is only a dollar more than the regular. And it is really large haha. Started with the cheese curds, chewy but perfect beer food, what I wanted. Tried their potato smashers or something, ehhh, not into it, pretty boring tbh. I picked a sandwich, the frat boy. Cause it had all this junk food on it, figured it would be bomb. Nope. Pretty bland. The meat was very tender, but alone it had no flavor. I'm not really a ketchup girl, but I had to put ketchup on it just to taste something. Derp. The fries tho!! I'll be back! I'll try a burger next time! I love the location. read more

Solid 4-star restaurant! We were greeted by two hostesses that were very friendly. We waited about 5 minutes before we were seated even though the estimated wait time was supposed to be 10-15 minutes. The place was very festive and was buzzing with energy as The Golden State Warriors were playing in the finals against the Cleveland Cavaliers (Game 6 which GS won!!!) I ordered the regular burger which was good! We also ordered the pretzel and fried potato chips for appetizers which we enjoyed. I had a 20 oz Warsteiner Konig Ludwig Weissbier which was imported from Germany (Very close to Heff-wheat beer), which I really liked. My wife ordered the street tacos (carne asada), which was good but a little spicy for her preference. Our server Scott was friendly and proficient who made sure all our requests were met. This place is great. Can't make it to all the breweries in this loaded area; come here and get all their beer in one place. Tons of local brews on tap. Good beer prices too. The food is standard bar fare, ie burgers etc, but is fine really well. Came in for a burger, which was amazing, and ended up staying for a few more beers. Truthfully, I wasn't sure what to expect, driving up to this brewhouse. As beer enthusiasts who recently left a 3 year stint in Oregon, it's been tough trying to find a place close by with a varied selection of craft brew. We were recommended this place by people who like great beer, and while they have a large and pretty good selection, there wasn't anything there that really stood out to me. I'd had 95% of it before and just wanted something different. It's pretty loud in the bar--I get that happy hour on a Friday is a busy time, but there were times I couldn't hear my partner sitting next to me, which seemed strange for this type of restaurant bar. I think I'd like to try coming back during a less busy time. We sampled their appetizers--Happy hour deals include a buy-two-get-one-free for app's. The three hot dishes were all kind of disappointing, not because they weren't prepared well, but they were over-salted, and unpleasantly so. Also, I felt like in the description for the steak bites, in the menu they were listed as medium/med rare (which I would have loved them bloody, so Med Rare was a fair compromise) and ours were nearly well done. The 'Our Way' styled oyster shooters though? They were crazy amazing. I wish it was little less expensive, because I would easily eat a half dozen and call it a meal. Staff was efficient, prompt, but a little cool--but again, Friday, early evening, they were busy. For a new place the service is doing really well. Great staff, they work hard, are super friendly! My family and I have already been here twice and we love it. Beside the staff being good, the food is yummy too , my mom loves the fish n chips, I love the mahi salad (pic below)and my brother has gotten the Elvis Burger both times now. This burger is definitely worth checking out...bananas, bacon, and peanut butter ohhh myy!! I do have to say the bar has caused us some problems, its just always really crowded and hard to get service. I guess the fact that it is crowded and busy is a good thing right?? I tried the Mattie Mojito which was pretty sweet from the peach purée and schnapps, but tasty! And the Ono kettle chips and fried cheese curds..DELICIOUS. My only issue was the salad I ordered. The ahi salad was completely drenched in dressing. I mean I could practically see my reflection in the vinaigrette. I took a few bites and couldn't take anymore. We ended up ordering a ton of appetizers. The service was great-food came out quickly and they even surprised the bride to be with a dessert! But the food itself was disappointing. The Brussel sprouts were super salty, the steak bites were over cooked and kind of tough, and the sauces for the pretzel were kind of bland. Nice staff and nice place; my poke salad, though, was just bland tuna on a humongous bed of salad -- I'm a salad-type-meal person but this was just a waste. This is a tough place to review because it has inconsistencies. We stopped in for lunch, looking for a good burger. We did find that here. The burger we had was really great. A large 8 ounce beef sandwich with onions, wine sauce and cheese. It was really very tasty. But also very sloppy, the insides between the better than average buns slide all around, It was kind of impossible to pick up and hold it while eating. We cut it into small pieces and used a fork and it was plenty for two of us to share. The french fries were SOME OF THE BEST I HAVE EVER HAD. The service was OK. The ambiance was 'sports pub warehousey' and the room is very loud. Lots of TVs on with ESPN2 and such on. It could definitely use some sound proofing. It is one of those places where it is hard to hear the person sitting right across from you. The Bloody Mary was good and only $8. My gf ordered a vodka cocktail of some kind. This was our second attempt to try this newer gastropub and we called ahead asking about watching our football game and if there was available seating. They answered live, were friendly, and accommodating - promising to turn on our game. We sampled their spicy wings and spicy jerk chicken wings--the latter has a great slow burn at the finish which was great. The spicy could have been spicier for our tastes but I'm a Chicago girl and expect a lot of heat and this isn't a BW joint, after all. They do not brew their own beers but have compiled a pretty awesome collection of U.S. Micro brews. We especially enjoyed #4s Mission Brewery Blonde Kolsch Ale and Green Flash hop head Red. We also tried a few a la carte tacos, well priced at $3. Underimpressed with the ancho dusted carne asada but the Korean beef was the bomb -super flavorful and the carnitas, as expected, rarely fail. The Korean beef was definitely unique. later at halftime we tried out one more appetizer, the rock shrimp ceviche served with avocado and their Ono chips. We prefer and still prefer ceviche with fresh fish and felt this dish was decent but not exceptional. The chips themselves offered as a side or appetizer portion were pretty tasty. The service with our waiter and other floaters for water refills and drink refills, grabbing empty plates and pilsner glasses seemed very well run. We really like the honest open feedback and suggestions from our waiter Scott, who has the panache not to big us too much but be there as we needed his assistance. Ambience: nice job taking this old German place into a simple clean trendy feel. Not sure how much the basque place altered the property but there is nice barnwood on walls and ceilings and some large sliding patio doors creatively added to some large picture windows to add light and simulate the $$$$ telescoping door look. Nice job. We plan to check out the bar vibe another time. Wish we knew they were taking out the old Spanish chandeliers for our own B&B, but it now looks much like the place should for the trendy bar food and yummy brews served here. read more

Came here last weekend with the bf for dinner cause we saw this place had good reviews and unusual burgers on their menu....plus they had a great beer selection. We ordered the Elvis lives and local mocco burger because they were just too crazy to pass up since we like to venture out of the ordinary. The reviews for the Elvis lives burger seemed great so my expectations were a bit high. Unfortunately I found myself a little disappointed with this burger, I wasn't quite sure what to make of it. The bananas actually kinda worked with the burger however the peanut butter was just way too much. A bit too rich for my taste buds and left me a bit nauseous:( The local mocco was much better but nothing to write home about. I think next time we go back we'll stick with a basic burger. The service was great, the quality of the beef for the burgers was good, and the wide selection of beers was awesome! I recently visited Shell Beach Brewhouse with a large group of people, and they were fantastic at accommodating us despite our large party (about 14 people). The service was all friend, quick, and attentive, which is sometimes difficult when you have so many folks in a group. The waiter was quick to give recommendations upon asking, and they were fantastic recommendations at that! The food we got was all delicious - I think everyone there walked away loving their meal. The burgers were all tasty (even the incredibly heavy and rich Elvis Lives), the Crispy Rock Sarnie sandwich was a favorite among our group, and the Beet Salad I ordered was great as well. One thing I will note is that it definitely took a long time for them to bring us out our food. From sitting to eating, it was over an hour - though considering how large our group was, it still wasn't too bad. Plus, they were really sweet and offered to comp us a dessert or two, which was a nice and unexpected treat! The appetizers are excellent and would recommend the fish tacos. The prices are average for the area. The only thing we didn't personally care for are the wings. Service was good and the food was tasty. I had the blue shroom burger which hit the spot, but I feel there was too much Gorgonzola cheese in my burger, that took away from the flavor of the shitaki mushrooms. The wife had the ahi tuna burger which she enjoyed and said it was bigger than she was expecting it to be. My side dish was their Brussel sprouts and green apples...very tasty and I actually would have ate more or ordered more if I wasn't so full. First off, it's important to know they have about 30 draft beers-a handful of which are tasty craft brews. So, there's that. The burger selection they have is very interesting-not your typical average burger joint with a patty and some fixings. You will see things like "Caramelized bananas" or "Herbed Goat Cheese" on the burgers and the buns are not the norm as well-most are served on savory brioche buns. Server was friendly and we didn't have to wait for a seat when we arrived at 12:15 in the afternoon. Only criticism I have is the acoustics make it difficult to talk with someone at your table without practically yelling and there's only single person restrooms for a restaurant that can can hold up to 160 people...so you may need to hold it for a while if you go out for drinks, people. Super nice atmosphere, and a good beer selection with lots of local choices. We came with a group of friends, and I, being non-adventurous, had a Blue Moon. Food choices, we had: Fried cheese curds - best thing we had all night!! Chicken sandwich (curry remoulade sauce) + sweet potato fries - the chicken is dipped in the sauce right before serving, but in-between the dip and the appearance at the table, the bottom half of the bun managed to soak up everything. So, I ate 1/3 of it with my hands and decided a curry remoulade sponge wasn't my thing, and just finished the chicken with a fork and knife. The fries were good though! Sunset sirloin dip + fries - mmmm thick cut meat and au jus! But, same problem as the chicken sandwich... the meat was dipped in a little of the au just before serving, and the bread got all soggy. But luckily enough, the bread was pretty dense and there was still "dry" parts left. Vineyard burger + fries - overheard commentary "I don't know how they did it, but they managed to get a shit ton of goat cheese in every one of my bites!" Excellent food and service! I've been wanting to visit Shell Beach Brewhouse ever since I heard about the Elvis Lives burger, but since I live in North County I never really come down here. We decided to make the trek down to get out of the house and this place did not disappoint. The hostess (didn't get her name) was very friendly and sat us right away even though it was very busy. Our waiter, Tyler (awesome!), greeted us and was very friendly throughout our time there. He got our drink orders and appetizers started right away and brought us waters too. He had many tables and did an excellent job checking in with everybody and had a smile on his face the entire time. I ordered the infamous Elvis Burger and it was excellent. Nice to see this kind of innovation at a local restaurant. In addition to the friendly staff and excellent food they have an impressive selection of beers on tap. If I lived in South County I'd frequent this establishment often. Thank you for providing quality service and awesome food!
