Lunch with a view
Brent B.

Tried out Westerly in Shell Beach this week. The food was solid, the views are hard to beat, and the overall vibe has a lot of potential. Since they're still new, the service is finding its footing, but the staff was friendly and doing their best. The real entertainment of the evening wasn't on the menu--it was the lady at the next table who seemed determined to file a complaint about literally everything. Water too wet, sun too bright, ocean too ocean-y... you get the idea. Overall, a good first experience. Give them some grace as they work out the kinks. The food was enjoyable, the location is beautiful, and unlike some of the customers, I'd definitely go back.

Meet 4 friends for lunch and also took my 9 year old granddaughter. Not sure what happened but they did not have our reservation for 6 on the patio. Luckily they were able to accommodate us, as one of the girls had her dog. Absolutely one of the best views in Pismo and even though it was hot, we had shade and a nice breeze. No one was real hungry, so ice teas, etc. One had a cup of clam chowder another had a bowl and they both loved. Another one had Caesar salad, one eggs plus fries, granddaughter had fries and chicken strips. I had the Little Gem wedge, just right. Would have loved some rolls or bread. Everyone enjoyed their food and Kylee, our server was so sweet and she was busy. I want to go back and try breakfast and then dinner.

Fabulous environment. Nice people working there who were very attentive. Quick delivery of our meal, server checking back often, and nice large portions. I'll definitely go back!

The view alone is enough to bring me back! The salad I got was a great size and the sea glass martini was refreshing! I really like their choice in their patio umbrellas. We sat inside and looked out at the view. It was fun watching people walk and down the trail by the cliffs. The food service was slower than expected but the food was very good!

Little gem salad w/ steak & asked 4 a side of chimichurri!!

Another spot where I would give 10 stars if I could!!! We were greeted right away, asked if we had a reservation (we didn't) & was told they had outdoor seating if we wanted 2 b seated immediately. We choose outdoor seating & what a view!!! It's on the edge of a cliff so the ocean was right there. Only issue was that it was a tad chili & there wasn't any heating lamps. Our waitress was Emily & she was fantastic. We ordered 2 appetizers: hot rolls & butter, and deviled eggs. The hot rolls were a set of 4 w/ an herbed butter, served in a cast iron-yum!!! Deviled eggs came w/ bacon & pickled onions. As I've said many times in my reviews, onions r yucky!! But I tried it anyways, then scooped the onions off & gave 2 my sister. They were delish & creamy. I then ordered the gem wedge & added breaded fried shrimp. And omg, the shrimp was breaded w/ panko & it was soooo good!!! The flavor was delish & the panko breading was perfect w/ crunch!!! We also enjoyed some lemon drop martinis. Perfectly made, not too strong & not 2 weak!!! Please show this spot some love & enjoy a great meal!!!

An exceptional dining experience in Pismo! The culinary execution is fantastic, matched by seamless and attentive service. A special mention to the manager, Brittany, whose warmth and passion truly elevate the hospitality. The restaurant beautifully balances a relaxed, casual atmosphere with an elegant touch--all set against a backdrop of breathtaking views and great music. This has officially become a must-visit staple for every trip I take here. Highly recommended! Did I mentioned it is very pet friendly!!!

Great renovation keeping this former locals favorite (Spyglass) with its wonderful views and dog friendly casual charm- love the new whimsical beach feel. Our breakfasts were both wonderful and very good portions for the cost in our opinion- we enjoyed huevos rancheros and lemon curd ricotta pancakes. Love that they didn't change the footprint, it's just that much better! Try it out and still a great spot to take visiting family and friends!

Chocolate cake to go!! Super moist and very delicious!

So apparently, we were there on their third day of a soft open so there were some opportunities but overall the food was great. The service was amazing. The ambience I mean come on you're looking at the ocean while you're eating a great meal.

Westerly is such a nice new addition to our central coast restaurant with a view scene! The remodel is fabulous! Are at the bar and ordered deviled eggs, superb! Ordered the steak bites and the salmon entree!! Salmon entree was amazing! The chile crunch on salmon was delicious! We also ordered the cheescake at the end and it was Soo delicious with a raspberry sauce! Overall food was great, service was great and views were great! Lots of things on menu I want to try out! Excited for this new spot!

While staying in Pismo with family, they wanted to take us to their favorite Italian restaurant and…read morewe chose to have dinner in the Cucina...they have another location right next door, which isn't as "fancy" as their sit down place. Tables covered with white linen as well as linen napkins, stepping up the ambiance. Our server, Maricella, was great, friendly, and very attentive. We started with their Caesar salad, which is made with fresh, largely torn romaine lettuce and covered with both grated and shaved parmesan cheese. There were a few crutons scattered and we opted to add anchovies to our salad. I also asked for extra dressing because typically salads don't come with much and I'm a dressing gal! Ok, so the salad itself was great and fresh and the anchovies were good and not greasy or fishy tasting. The dressing was an issue and I really didn't care for it. Wife said it was "ok" but we've had way better dressing elsewhere. She chose the Ravioli di Zucca, which was a butternut squash filled ravioli with a sage and parmesan cheese sauce. I thought it was a bit sweet but she liked it. I had the Linguine Vongole, which came with a housemade pasta that was more like a thick spaghetti noodle as opposed to the typical flat linguine noodle. The bowl was full of clams; found some to be a bit tough and overall I think the sauce could use a ton more lemon flavor! It was good but family had ordered the Nonna's Meatballs and that's where I would go! Something with their incredible marinara sauce because it is the bomb! Such a great balance of tang and sweet and just good flavor. I also want to talk about the bread and dip they serve at the beginning of the meal...oh my gosh! The bread is sliced super thin with a soft inside and that wonderful tuggy outter crust. The dip is a garlic (lots of it!) and olive oil mix that you can spread on the bread...ok, we ate a lot of this! Daughter also ordered the brussels sprouts, which were roasted to perfection and topped with pecans, goat cheese, and a honey Dijon vinaigrette. These were some of the best sprouts I've had! We shared the Spumoni for dessert, which was good and different! There was a layer of cake along with layers of chocolate, pistachio, and vanilla ice cream and a drizzle of the cherry sauce and sprinkle of mini chocolate chips. The dish is good and needs much more of that cherry sauce! Overall a good meal and next time we doing the Club instead...much less fancy and a smaller menu of offerings.

Service here was excellent, we were checked up on enough and our server gave great recommendations. Thanks to our server Talia D! We sat in a cute garden area with vines, plants, and fairy lights, very cozy like you're in a friend's well-decorated patio. They also gave us complementary bread before we received our meal, and a lot of the dishes were unique and plated well. I would come back if I'm ever in the area and would recommend this place to all my friends! All ratings below are averaged (from me and my bf): salmon bisque // 9.25 // very yummy and unique. my bf didn't think he'd like it -- he usually dislikes seafood -- but it was great!! creamy, clear salmon taste but no unpleasant fishy/ocean taste that a lot of seafood has. i've never had this anywhere else, props to the chef! thai green curry // 8.5 // my bf says it's a 9. it's good but i feel like it was not my fave, it's lowkey your good, standard green curry that you can get at any thai place duck breast (curry) // 8.75 // very delicious and unique, i'd rate the curry, rice, and duck breast as 9/10, the duck breast itself was a 10/10. the curry was creamy, and they were all delicious and fragrant, pairing well together. however, the mushrooms, carrots, and other veggies it came with are too sweet. they seem like they're glazed with a sauce that has too much sugar. the black rice was surprisingly very filling strawberry matcha trifle // 8 // yummy, nothing majorly wrong with it. reminds me of a strawberry matcha latte. matcha whipped cream was a nice, unique touch i haven't really seen elsewhere despite it not sounding difficult to make. i'd order it again but i feel like it's on the sweeter side, so you can't eat too much of it.

Perfect weather for wearing a light sweater, enjoying a glass of wine, and having a nice evening with your people. The staff is very attentive and on top of making sure you have what you need. Food: started off with the brussel sprouts and man, those were so so good. Brussel sprouts, goat cheese, pancetta, etc. you get what I'm saying. Flash fried perfectly. We had the salmon bisque and Soup De Novo, which was a vegetable curry soup. These both could have essentially been meals. The salmon bisque was absolutely loaded with salmon. From what I heard about it, it tasted amazing. (I don't eat salmon). The vegetable curry soup was very flavorful and blended smoothly. If you ordered rice on the side, it would have been just like an entire meal. Tikki Masala Chicken - man, that airline chicken was cooked perfectly. Juicy and tender, great flavor, no a single thing wrong with it. The rice and vegetables were fantastic, especially the carrots. I don't know why they seemed extra good, but they were. 2 orders of the Ribeye. Once cooked medium and mine, cooked medium rare. Unfortunately, when mine came out, I immediately could tell that it was nowhere near cooked right. It was actually well done. When the waiter came back, I said "I'm sorry to have to do this..." and before I could finish he said "oh yea, that's definitely not medium rare, let me have the kitchen refire that for you". I dislike sending food back, but when you're spending $58 on a ribeye dinner, it HAS to be correct. (Note- the manager remedied the issue quick..came to the table, offered soup, bread, etc, which I had already eaten soup, so he comped 50% off the steak. Nice gesture!) The rest of the vegetables paired with the ribeye were very good. If someone told you the white bean puree was mashed potatoes, most people would believe it. Very creamy and delicious. The Italian salsa verde on top was also very fulfilling. Overall the dinner was very good.

Note that the parking lot, depending on which day you go, can fill up very quickly. The location is right off of the 101 and easy to find. We checked in and was seated within 10 minutes at a booth that overlooked the beautiful views of the Pismo Beach coast line. Our server, a younger black woman, who told us her nickname was 'TiTi', if I'm not mistaken, was wonderful. Her personality and hospitality was infectious and exceeded 5 stars. She brought us fresh hot corn and flour tortillas with a small cup of brown sugar butter and three different salsas to try. Everything was delicious. We ordered the surf and turf special which was a jumbo shrimp on top of a filet mignon that rested on mash potatoes and a creamy/savory white sauce. We also ordered the lobster Mac and cheese. Everything was exceptionally good. My only takeaway would be that I found the food, especially the lobster Mac and cheese to be pretty salty. Definitely excited for my next visit.

We had a reservation for a birthday dinner and arrived about 30 minutes early. We were told we'd be seated closer to our reservation time, which was completely understandable. However, as we waited, we watched several groups (including walk-ins without reservations) get seated before us. Even after our reservation time had passed, we had to check in with the host again before we were finally seated, despite there being plenty of empty tables. The service at the front definitely could have been handled better. The food, on the other hand, was very good with a great variety of options. I loved that they start you off with freshly made tortillas, cinnamon butter, and salsa to share. I ordered the Campechana de Mariscos, which was fresh, generously portioned, and perfect for sharing. We also had the Molcajete, and it was delicious! It came with a great mix of steak, chicken, chorizo, jumbo shrimp, nopal, and cheese. The portion was generous and easily enough for two people. Other dishes we ordered also included the pozole, chicken nachos, and lobster mac and cheese. Everything was delicious as well! The mac and cheese especially. For drinks, I tried the Golden Hour nonalcoholic cocktail, and unfortunately, I wouldn't recommend it. It tasted like watered-down ginger beer with no carbonation and only the faintest hint of pineapple. It was more on the bitter taste. Overall, this is a great restaurant for the ocean views and flavorful food. The portions are generous, and there's something for everyone on the menu. The only downside was the host service and the unnecessary wait despite having a reservation. I'd still come back for the food and the scenery.
