I called and ordered 2 lbs of stone crab claws. Next day I went and picked them up. They gave me the clause and I paid they were already cooked ample size. They tasted good. I have no problem with Shellys. The service was great. The food was great I recommend. read more

Pre-othered stone crab claw floaters. They had them for $10/lb. Think it's best to call and order. Also oxide up fresh group for $25/ lb. Both were very good. It's an hour drive for me to get there. Due to gas prices, may try to see if I can get these things closer to home. If not I can make a day of it amd do lunch in the area! read more

Fresh seafood is clear here! The food stand and fish market is right next to the Homosassa River. Lovely scenery where you can enjoy quality seafood. Family-like hospitality! The menu is small, but the quality is excellent. My family ordered yellow fin tuna tacos, wild shrimp tacos, wild shrimp quesadilla, and codfish sandwich. Two tacos for $8, codfish sandwich for $10, and quesadilla for I think $8. My Mom wrote a scribbly-looking order and I verbally confirmed it with the friendly cashier. Not surprisingly, my Mom's order was incorrect (probably due to all the scribbles), for which she had 2 tuna tacos instead of 1 shrimp taco and 1 tuna taco. Thankfully, the cashier corrected it to get my Mom the 1 shrimp taco. She gave us the incorrect tuna taco to keep because she would have to throw it away anyway. The cashier was attentive in following-up and personally handed the requested shrimp taco to my Mom. Our experience there was great regardless. My family enjoyed the food and their hospitality. We definitely recommend this place. There is a decent number of tables for about 20 chairs or so. We went around 2pm, so the stand was not crowded. read more

The fresh grouper was out of this world and they loaded us up with ice for the hour and half ride home. Such a great spot. Reasonable too!

Wow, wow, wow!! I love it! I am a total sucker for a great seafood market, and this place takes the cake! I live in San Francisco and don't know why we don't have a place like this at Fisherman's Wharf. All of Shelly's fish is basically local. She deals with very little frozen fish, and most of it is caught in waters within a 200 mile radius of her location. We got a fantastic grouper filet that we watched the guy on the back table filet for us right off the fish that had been delivered that morning. At that time, they had a guy gigging flounder and grouper for them; no nets, no hooks, just a spear gun. Of course they had local shrimp, oysters, blue crabs (that happened to be in season), and lots more. I love Gulf fish, and this place definitely satisfied my itch! If I lived in Homosassa, it would be hard not to stop here every day on the way home. Love it, love it, love it! read more

As a former New Englander it took me a while to find great fresh fish. Nothing can compare to Shelly's. Always a great choice of fresh local fish and also things they bring in from other parts of the country. They have Scotttish Salmon that is so good and Key West pink shrimp when in season, both are excellent! They even brought in NE haddock recently which was delicious. Cannot say enough about this store And their wonderful help. read more

Shelly's has great fresh seafood. Walmart maybe cheaper but who knows where their products come from. Shelly's has labels telling you the source. Plus they have great fish dip, crab dip jalapeño etc. Worth the drive through old Homosassa. I've never had a bad piece of fish. Crab season is starting so we will be there weekly read more

I can't say enough good things about Shelly's. From the seafood to the people.....especially Shelly. Yes, it's a little more expensive, but, after all it's not Walmart. It's the freshest most beautiful seafood I have ever seen, NOT smelled, and tasted. Even Publix seafood and case can have a fishy smell. Not Shelly's. I have found Shelly, family, and staff to be nothing but kind and friendly.....even when the little market is packed and they are working so hard and fast. There is a reason they have so many loyal customers. And who is in the business of giving expensive seafood away? I can't imagine anyone expecting that. I absolutely will not buy my seafood anywhere else. I AM one of those LOYAL customers. Thanks Shelly!!! And I love my Kooziies and the Stone Crab Sauce is out of this WORLD. It is small fish market that was a lot cleaner than you would expect. We bought stone crab claws and shrimp. The day we went the selection was not very large, and a few items were frozen or shipped in. We also bought some salmon dip which was very good. Everything was great but a little expensive. Drove 79 miles to get the fresh grouper again... It is so good and great price... They also had catfish that had just been filleted.. We had just come from another restaurant that has the best steamed shrimp and had leftovers with us so Shelly gave us ice to put on our shrimp to get it home... I will cook the catfish first since it was so fresh but put the grouper in the freezer for next week... This place is just the best. read more
