    Empanada
    J S.

Wife and I are here and we both loved this placed. We ordered empanadas, fried chicken, the burger, and beet burrata salad. All there were delicious. Fried chicken and empanada were both seasoned well and flavorful. Burger was amazing and would order everything again. The beet salad was one of the better ones I've had. I loved the lemon "coulis", which added the perfect acidity and pop of flavor. Perhaps a couple more slices of pear, but that's nitpicking - this was a perfect beet salad. We will definitely be back.

    Bread Pudding!

The bread pudding at Shepherd & Sims was absolutely delicious. Warm, rich, and creamy on the inside with the perfect crunchy top. They served it warm with a little vanilla ice cream that melted into it perfectly and made every bite even better. It was comforting, indulgent, and honestly one of the best desserts I've had in a long time. Definitely worth saving room for dessert!

First time and what a great experience! Bright and welcoming decor / space. Lots of people but still felt spacious. Had the Duck Hash Browns appetizer - crazy good! Entree was the Scallops over Risotto - also really delicious! Service was excellent - a truly lovely time!! P.S. - parking is good too

Shepherd & Sims has been on my list to try for over a year now. I finally made reservations and had a fantastic dinner with my partner and friends. My overall score for the food is 4 stars, but the outstanding customer service deserved a full 5-star rating. I can't recall our waitress's name, but we all appreciated her friendly service and warm attitude. It truly enhanced our first visit. The other staff members were also very kind. We were even bid farewell as we left, with a staff member holding the door open. Impressive! APPS * Oysters: we ordered a variety for apps. Delicious! Enjoyed the sauces: sangrita, cucumber mignonette, smoked cocktail sauce. * Heirloom Tomatoes: melons, burrata, mint, orange zest, pomegranate syrup, lemon oil. It was refreshing and light. * Ceviche*: local catch (scallops), lime, onion, tomato, cucumber, pico de gallo, salsa macha, blue corn tostada. This appetizer was delish! Well balanced. The blue chips paired well. MAINS * Baby Back Ribs: Korean BBQ sauce, sesame, pickled cucumber salad, cilantro. I ordered this and absolutely enjoyed every bite. The meat was tender and slid off the ribs. However, they were slightly over. * The Only Burger That Belongs On The Table: American cheese, bacon jam, crispy onion string, awesome sauce, pickles, lettuce. My partner ordered this, and I had a bite. It was tasty. A good old burger. Can't go wrong with it. * Flannery Dry Aged Chopped Steak: garlic mashed potatoes, mustard, pickled ramp sauce. My friend ordered this and devoured it. I can safely say it was tasty. * Mafaldine: Jim's Bolognese family recipe of ground beef and pork, Grana Padano. My friend ordered this and ate half since we had quite a few apps. She enjoyed it and only had positive feedback. She boxed the other half for lunch the next day. Overall, a great restaurant in Los Gatos to savor a tasty meal.

    Birria empanadas

I came here for bottomless mimosas w my girls and was pleasantly surprised that it was premixed in a pitcher they kept regilli. I had the empanadas of the day which was birria and I enjoyed it so much. Shoutout to our server Vicente because he saw my birthday on my ID was in a few days and threw in a sweet dessert for me.

Second visit to Shepherd & Sims, this time for dinner. Service - since we had a reservation, the host seated us right away -- initially in the noisier bar area but I asked if we could sit on the other side which was much quieter, and he seated us over there. Waiter was also attentive and explained the specials, checked on us several times. Food - I was disappointed that they were out of their delish empanadas (which I had at HH last month) but the Coconut Shrimp were really good. For dinner my husband had one of the specials, a rabbit ragu on fettuccine. He really enjoyed it, I'm not such a fan of rabbit but I had a taste too. I had the Cauliflower gratin which was really good with cheese, good spices and sauce. My Cosmo was also as good as I remembered from HH. For dessert we had the pear tart with Caramel gelato which was a delicious finish to the meal. We'll be back. For quieter seating, ask to be seated on the other side of the restaurant from the bar.

This is a long overdue review of Shepherd & Sims. They are located in the Cornerstone of Los Gatos Plaza and has ample parking available. The decor is nice, modern, and bright and cheery. Inside and outisde dining options to choose from. They have a nice full bar. We stopped in with friends for a bite to eat. *Cauliflower: cardamom tea infused, vadouvan curry lentils & chickpeas (no pic, 3/5). The flavors were good but not as tender as we had hoped. Also, the portion size was small, it was a quarter of a head of Cauliflower. *The Only Burger That Belongs On The Table: American cheese, bacon jam, crispy onion string, awesome sauce, pickles, lettuce, French fries (no pic, 3.5/5). Pretty good, seasoned well, decent burger. *Empanadas (no pic, 4/5) - various fillings like chicken, mushroom, cheese & jalapeño.

We were a big fan of Forthright in Campbell and were bummed when it closed. But we were excited to learn that Sheherd & Sims was owned by the same owner. We've come here twice and enjoyed it both times. Servers are friendly and attentive and we enjoy the food. My wife likes raw oysters so she gets the Sip and Slurp, and I always enjoy the One Hitter Quitter (burger with beer and a shot). Fries were crispy and light, burger was delicious. My wife also had the clams. They have Happy Hour from 2-5:30 and there was quite a crowd inside and out. They have a pretty large covered patio that's totally shaded - nice to sit out there and enjoy the nice weather. We really enjoyed our dinner here both times, and are really happy to have a good neighborhood restaurant we can walk to.

    Chicken Liver Pâté

This is my third time coming here, and I always stop by on Sunday afternoons for happy hour. They have all kinds of great options on the happy hour menu, and it's honestly one of the best deals around. The place is always clean, inviting, and comfortable -- perfect for a casual weekend hangout. My recommended dishes: Chips and Dip: The chips are impressively thin and super crunchy -- exactly how I like them. Simple but so good. Oysters: I always order whatever oysters they have on special for happy hour. This time the oyster is sweet. My favorite dish: Chicken Liver Pâté: This is my must-order every time. It's creamy, smooth, and flavorful without being too strong. They nail it consistently. The only downside is that they charge an extra 3% if you pay by credit card, which isn't the nicest surprise.

Corned beef and hash with poached egg and béarnaise sauce.

My friend and I went here for his birthday since this is one of his favorite restaurants. We picked the hamachi tiradito to share. I chose the corned beef and hash and he ordered a steak salad. The hamachi tiradito came out and it was good. The smell was a bit pungent but the taste was decent. Our entrees came out and my corned beef and hash was one of the best I ever had. Decent chunks of corned beef and potatoes with some onions and peppers throughout. Also the poached egg with the béarnaise sauce on top just made the dish. We both enjoyed the meal Service was great and they checked to make sure we got everything we needed.

We stumbled upon this spot after trying to find Hanna Noodle Bar which was next door but saw the menu and decided to stay around for the oysters The service was super prompt and they had plentiful covered heated seating great for doggos and kiddos that enjoy the outdoors. Adam our server was great he anticipated a lot of the dish needs like whether we were splitting, dressing on the side, etc super courteous of him as a server! The meal was delicious we were super impressed with the quality and the flavors. The house bread focaccia was delicious and the steak salad was also wonderful.

(Tom Cruise voiceover) The vibe is busy busy hidden fantastic Claire warmly greeted us Wendy & Christina served us. Sand Dabs. Creamy, light, and dreamy! Steak. Arugula! Charred veggies! Outstanding! Cucumber Salad. Citrusy. Refreshing. Fennel makes it spectacular! (A roasted beet would have made it out of this world!) Corn soup. Creamy! Fantastic! Bacon makes everything grand! Passion de Fruits. Good! Would order everything again! Thanks, Wendy! Woohoo!

Great atmosphere, located at a place where you can have a nice walk after dinner. Seems like they had both indoor and outdoor seating. Food was great, but nothing stood out. The octopus was cooked to perfection, it was nice and tender. The poke bowl was so-so. Ordered a bunch of food but the octopus was the only thing that stood out. Bumped it to 5 stars because of the great, welcoming service.

If you're hoping to sit inside, I'd definitely recommend making a reservation. The service was wonderful from start to finish. My friend and I both ordered the smash burger and I've got to say it was easily one of the best burgers I've had in a long time. The meat was perfectly cooked and seasoned so well. The sweet potato fries were crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and absolutely delicious. And whatever you do, DO NOT skip the bread pudding. It was a 1000/10! Not overly sweet, perfectly balanced, and the texture was incredible. If you're on the fence about dessert, just order it, you won't regret it. The only minor downside was that the sodas were very flat and tasted a bit syrupy. Other than that, everything was fantastic. Parking wasn't too bad at 6pm (we could park in the middle areas of the hotel parking lot) but by the time we left, the parking lot was full. Our server Silvia was friendly and checked in with us frequently to see if we needed anything else. She provided us with recommendations at the top and when we were asking questions about getting multiple dishes family-style, she provided feedback on whether it would be enough for the table. We felt well-attended to. Asa does rotate through their menu and the main downside was timing for us! My sister really wanted the carbonara she had seen on the menu but they had literally switched over to their spring menu. No carbonara for my sis. :( We shared: Jamon Iberico (good, straightforward), Caesar salad (I wish I had had my own! Really well dressed), trumpet mushrooms (the vinegar was a little too strong for my sister but I thought it was tasty and delicious), cauliflower (sister's favorite dish), spring pasta à la vodka (good, although it didn't particularly stand out in my opinion), exotic mushroom rigatoni (delicious!) and my favorite, the Argentine steak. The chimichurri sauce was perfect to balance out the meat, and I loved dipping the fries in the remnants of the sauce. Only 2 of us got dessert and we both chose the olio nuevo ice cream. They used high quality olive oil and the entire thing was delicious. Would definitely get again! Overall, excellent experience and food at Asa. I would definitely bring friends and family here for a nice dinner out!

We dined at Lira on November 14th. The Service (or Lack Thereof): The Menu Shortage: We arrived for our 6:45 PM reservation only to be told by the manager that they didn't have enough menus. We were told they'd bring them "later." Ignored for 35+ Minutes: We sat with nothing but water for over half an hour. To make matters worse, a table of six was seated after us and received their full entrees while we were completely ignored. The Drink Mess: After 40 minutes, the server told me they were out of ingredients for my drink. When I picked a second option, she tried to insist I wanted a drink with celery (my most despised vegetable). We thankfully stopped her before it was made, but the incompetence was staggering. The Food Fiasco: An hour into our reservation, someone dropped off a scallop dish. A while later, a server asked if I'd "received the scallops yet," and I realized the plate I was eating wasn't even intended for our table. We were so starving that my husband and I just shared them. Once we finished, the server finally asked my husband if he "still wanted his meal or if he wanted to cancel it." I finally lost my cool - of course he still wanted his dinner! The Aftermath: My husband didn't realize that my friends had actually made a separate reservation to take me back to this same spot the following night for a second birthday celebration. After this performance, there was no way I was going to step foot in this building again or give them another cent of our money. I texted my friends from the table to cancel those reservations and book elsewhere. With service this disorganized and insulting, this restaurant won't be in business long. Super disappointing. Don't waste your special occasions here. *Edit - it looks like Lira has closed. With the service we experienced, I am not surprised in the slightest. I thought some dishes were great; the wagyu burger was decadent. Other dishes were not that special. The scallops didn't taste too fresh (likely frozen) and combining them with hummus didn't quite work. The side of bread was practically insulting. $5 for stale table bread was a surprise. Dishes arrived very late; we were nearly forgotten when we tried to order, and then after ordering, we waited 40 minutes between appetizers and the main course. Not because they were cooking it; they just forgot we were there and when they brought out the dishes, the scallops were no longer just-cooked, and the burger had been sitting for a bit. No apology, just an acknowledgment it was late, and no discount (not even on the stale bread). They offered us wine, we said we didn't drink, and they just moved on. I debated a lot about how to review this. It's my personal experience that was disappointing, and I'm glad some reviews are very upbeat. But there's a handful of reviews noting frustrating delays... and that needs to be worked on.

They brought out a Carmel Popcorn Sundae for my husband's birthday and even gave him a birthday card which I thought was a nice touch. Service was slow and steady. We had ample time to enjoy our food without feeling rushed, but never felt like our server forgot about us. We spent about 2 hours for dinner. Probably not a place to go if you're in a hurry. I'm eager to return and try some more of the starters. It's the kind of place I'd love to take out of town guests - high quality fine dining in a casual and relaxed environment.

Great attention to detail, and asked questions that helped make our dinner special. The food was good, especially the beet salad for me really stood out. I love beet salads and the ones with no frill, so I asked to take the cheese and dill out. I heard the other salads were as great so am excited to come the next time! But the no corkage fee and really fair pricing on their wine is really appreciated and almost unimaginable. The bday boy loved his entree of butter noodles and ordered it twice. He also finished a side of chicken tenders. He thought they were so good and saved one piece for his sleeping sister (the next day she asked for seconds!) Ambiance is suitable for a date night and the fancy Saratoga downtown. But I didn't feel too out of place with two kids either. Overall, great experience!

It's absolutely the kind of place designed to impress for a special occasion, with a price point that reflects the experience. The service was warm, energetic, and welcoming from start to finish, beginning with the front desk and continuing through the attentive staff at our table. Every appetizer felt like a conversation piece, taking familiar ingredients and presenting them in creative ways with unexpected textures and flavor combinations. One standout dish featured burrata stuffed inside a hollowed out tomato, which was both clever and genuinely fun to eat. The misoyaki cod was an exceptional interpretation of the classic miso cod, perfectly prepared and deeply flavorful. For dessert, the panna cotta with raspberry sauce was easily my favorite, light, silky, and the perfect ending to the meal. Overall, it was a fantastic dining experience and a memorable night out.

Flowers has the perfect mix of beautiful decor, Michelin level service, and great food without the stuffiness of a snooty, Michelin restaurant. This is what we ordered: Salmon nigiri - 5/5 soo good! There could have been a tad more salmon but it was so fresh. Seriously more fresh and buttery than the sushi restaurant down the street. Tuna tacos - 5/5 my favorite! Crispy wonton tacos stuffed with fresh tuna, along with creamy wasabi and sriracha aioli. Miso Cod - 4/5 this would be soo good but the miso was so salty. Maybe it was an off night. For cocktails, hummingbird was so delish - not too sweet and like with everything else, the presentation was top notch.

But, they absolutely SURPASSED great when we booked their patio for our baby shower a few weeks ago. Melissa, their Event Coordinator was absolutely wonderful from start to finish. She took on every single one of my questions (at all random hours,) requests, and changes with kindness and patience. She was always responsive and quick, which is super important for a frazzled, pregnant woman. Anthony, our designated bartender for the event was friendly, outgoing, and so amazing dealing with a more than average "rowdy" group. The service staff was on point the whole event, ensuring to pay attention to little details such as keeping the food fresh and replenished. We've received nothing but positive feedback from guests, from service to the tastiness of all the food options! We appreciated this experience so much that we'll be returning later this week to celebrate my son's graduation with our friends and family. Highly recommend Water Tower for any occasion- whether a quick brunch or dinner with an intimate group or a big celebratory occasion!

The decor and tables, especially the soft seating is really nice. Kind of reminds me of a pub. The service is fast and efficient, maybe a little to fast "like they are in a hurry" otherwise the server's do a great job. I ordered the Loco moco, comes with rice, a hamburger patty, 2 fried eggs "sunny side up" macaroni, salad, and gravy. The server ask me how I wanted my burger cooked? I said medium rare. It came to me perfectly cooked at medium rare!! This was the first time I've had Loco Moco so I can't really compare it to others ... that being said, I'd order it again in a heart beat, it's so good!! Wifey ordered the salmon with succotash, she also was very happy with her meal. They give you plenty of food with your meal as well.
