Whenever conventional western medicine has failed me, Dr Ho has been my salvation. Dr. Ho is family doctor of me and my husband for over 10 years. Western medicine can be used for urgent care but the recovery has to depend on eastern medicine which Dr. Ho is very good at it. The office also sells chinese medicine and supplements for fair price. I started to see Dr. Ho a few years ago when I had lots of health problems. During the pandemic we talked on the phone many times for various health issues I was having. That was always helpful since the doctor was very patient and we would often get in lots of details about the problem. Each time I got the solution to my problem and also learnt a lot useful things, which seems to be more and more important for me now. Dr. Ho also referred me to labs for tests quite a few times, which were also very helpful. I was also referred to specialist doctors when that was needed, and each time it turned out that those referred doctors were also great ones and they saved me too. In the last three years, I've lived in Irvine, San Francisco, and Los Angeles and have had different medical providers. Of the ones I've tried, my experience at Dr. Ho's office has been the best. Unlike other doctors, Dr. Ho takes time to understand what's going on and really listens to you. For every issue I've had, she's always been able to come up with a solution that works. In addition, she's familiar with both western and eastern medicine. I personally prefer pills for the convenience factor, but have used herbal medicine successfully before. My mom, who's a big fan of eastern medicine, also comes here often for her natural remedies. The only downside is insurance doesn't always cover herbal medicine. In regards to scheduling, I haven't had a problem yet. For my most recent visit, I called on Wednesday to schedule an appointment for Friday afternoon. They asked for insurance info, made sure I was covered, and then the appointment was set for 2:30pm that Friday. I was told Dr.Ho accepted my insurance for acupuncture, but after meeting with the doctor and paying my copay, I was told she does not in fact cover my insurance.. In fact; I paid $25 to find out she does not accept my insurance.. I was told Dr. Ho customizes herbal supplements, but after meeting with her 20 minutes was shown the "supplement for me"... with an expiration date of last week. This was not customized, and pretty scary to be given an herbal medicine after not having as much as a blood test or urine test given to me! She would have no idea if I was pregnant, had cancer, or had medical issues going on. But she is willing to sell you $50 of herbal medicine without knowing you! read more

I have been a patient of Dr Ho for almost 10 years. I love that Dr Ho uses both western and eastern treatments in my care. Several years ago I had a problem with leg swelling and sought out a cardiologist and a vein specialist who attributed the problem to old age. I have also had gastrointestinal issues for over twenty years where conventional treatments consisted of acid blockers that created worse problems due to long time use. In both situations Dr Ho using herbs and acupuncture has been the answer. I can't say enough good things about her and her staff. She and Dr Chen offer the best of acupuncture technique( I've been to may other acupuncturists) I ever had. My insurance does not cover herbal medicine, but I believe there are certain things we need to pay for and my health is more important than money. First doctor I've been to in years that makes me feel like my healthcare needs are important. She never rushes you, she never speaks to you condescendingly, she is prompt and on time, and she always tells you the options for care. Since she specializes in Chinese medicine she will usually tell you the western option for antibiotics and an alternative option of in-house formulated herbal remedies. Yes, insurance usually won't cover the herbal option, but the prices are reasonable and I can vouch for the efficacy of the remedies provided. She also sells supplements from other reputable suppliers such as Metagenics. Front desk staff is kind and respectful. I finally have a primary care physician that I look forward to visiting. Also, as a side note, she is not stingy with referrals to other practitioners if needed. Go to this doctor. It'll be the best decision you make today. read more

My family (mom, dad, and brother) and I have been seeing Dr. Ho for years. She is gentle, patient, knowledgeable, and never makes you feel like she's trying to rush you out the door. My mom always asks a million questions, and Dr. Ho takes the time to answer every single one. Appointments are easy to make. I always get an appointment in either the same day or next. Yes, Dr. Ho prescribes a lot of herbal medicines. Even though I'm Chinese, I never thought herbal medicine would trump modern medicine, but I've been proven wrong on more than one occasion. The last time I had it, I had a terribe, gut-wrenching cough that started dying down the same day I started taking the herbal medicine. Dr. Ho and her staff are friendly, caring, and super helpful. I give this doctor one star, because Yelp doesn't allow me to give 0 or negative stars. First of all the front desk staff was horrible. She doesn't seem to know anything. She had to put me on hold to ask other people every time I asked a question, literally. I took my daughter for an annual check-up, the doctor only spent a couple of minutes, listen to her chest, and asked me if I had any concerns, to which she said she wasn't very sure, but did not think it was what I suspected it to be. Then that was it, she was ready to roll. I had to remind her to refer a specialist, check her eye sight, and tell me her weight percentile, etc. I have never seen a doctor like that. read more

I once had a skin problem and when I had my appointment, she told me to just 'scrub harder' in the shower, assuring me her daughter had the same problem until she just showered. I followed her advice for 2 months, purchasing multiple products she recommended to no avail. When I had severe back problems, she didn't do any tests to diagnose me, claiming my pains were caused by a lack of sleep. She compared my spinal cord to soup for the majority of the appointment. She prescribed 2 supplements and pills and sent me on my way. A month and $180 later, my back problems were the same, if not worse. read more

I would say Dr Ho is really friendly. But it was not acceptable to me that I called asking for the information of the vaccine, and the reception was not able to answer , so he asked me to visit the office. Even they didn't have all the vaccines , and asked me to got o CVS to get it. They charged me for 100 bucks doctor visit fee which sounds unreasonable. I didn't get any check but got vaccine which reception was not able to answer. And my claims didn't submit after more than a month till I called them. So please let others know as long as you go to office ,they charge $100 visit fee. I would highly recommend this place if you have infinite time, energy and money to waste. I had an annual check up in Oct, 2017 with Dr.Ho. After the visit and have blood test, I receive a unexpected bill from provider which this is preventative care covered by my insurance. I called my insurance company to communicate with my doctor and blood test provider found out the Dr side send out wrong code and the front desk lady said she will re-send claim to provider. But after wait for a month, I get last chance bill from provider which turns that the did not re-send it at all!!!! So I re-call my insurance company to ask them re-send claim with corrected code so that I won't be charged any money since it is a annual check-up. This time you think it all works? Guess what? I receive a claim from insurance company with a HIGHER money bill from my provider!!! It is like a joke, isn't it? She's not the type of doctor who rushes in with a prescription pad and trys to get you on medication if you are willing and as appropriate it can be managed through life style changes or other forms of supplementation. Never got good care when I tried to make an appointment. I can't get people to answer the phone all the time. That's okay. I can understand. Maybe they are always busy. I also can understand the system or insurance acceptance issue. But when I tried to call this morning for an appointment for my wife, the reception counter replied me that I have to wait until next week. Yes, no kidding. They confirmed that the average waiting time is 1 to 2 weeks. The reason is that too many patients they need to take care and my wife's sickness symptoms are not series. How can they say that? Do they really care about patients? Do they really know what happens to my wife? When I told them it's not right attitude for service, they just said that is where you are. Medical service is NOT a business. If you don't care about patients feelings, you are not qualified to work as a doctor clinic. I want to trust this doctor and her clinic, actually I tried many times. But unfortunately I failed. They can referral my wife to another doctor if we really need. If you are looking for a doctor who diagnoses your symptoms CAREFULLY, Dr. Ho is not the place to go. My experience with her was so painful! It took me four years to be able to write my very 1st review on Yelp. Dr. Ho was my family physician. I went to see her because I had swollen lymph node in my neck, back pain, and coughing. I also told her that I was running low fever every night. She first diagnosed me a common cold and treated me with western medicine and then Chinese medicine. None of the medicine made me feels better. She did run a blood test but the test result did not give her any idea of what I had been diagnosed two months after in Hoag ER. One week before I went to ER, she finally gave me a lab order to do biopsies for another lymph node found in my groin but I couldn't wait any longer. I was in pain and very scared (I did my own research online). Finally, I asked my husband to take me to Hoag ER at night and then I had been confirmed of NHLs I believe that Dr. Ho is a good doctor. I also believe that what makes a good doctor even better is when she can be more vigilant with patient's symptoms. read more

Her front desk asks me to wait because a new patient is in the room and it takes longer time to go over the health questions. This is not about Dr. Ho's practice. It may be unfair because I agree Dr. Ho is very nice and patient. She cares about her patients too. However, she has the rudest, the worst office staff I've ever known. I called in to schedule an urgent pre-operative evaluation this morning (Thursday). I need Dr. Ho to perform physical checkup for me and get some blood tests done before next Tuesday when my eye surgery is taking place. I saw Dr. Ho last year for the same reason. It's a very simple procedure that would take the doctor about 15 minutes. They can only see me next Monday afternoon. I asked the staff if Dr. Ho can either make an exception to fit me in on Friday, or order the lab work (separate from checkup) for me first so I can get the results before Tuesday. She refused to do either, and would not consult with Dr. Ho, but kept on telling me there is nothing they can do, and it's not their fault that I won't be able to have my surgery next Tuesday. OK. It is my problem, not her concerns. I get that. I then asked several times if I can speak to Dr. Ho myself but she refused to transfer me either. I explained to her many times that I have urgent needs and hopefully they can HELP to make some accommodations, like my other doctors always do, but she offered no other options at all and did not care less if my dire condition would be taken cared of or not. She even tried to turn me away to other doctors after I told her I've seen Dr. Ho before and I would like to stick with her for future visits. I think Dr. Ho should give her staff some serious education and ask her to apologize for the horrible attitude and unprofessional services. It turns out, I was later informed by my surgery scheduler, half of what this lady told me was wrong, that my surgical physician can order lab work directly without going through Dr. Ho, and that I could get my blood tests results in 3 hours, not 3 days, if the doctor expedites the request. Next time, when you have some urgent medical needs, think twice before you call Dr. Ho's office. read more
