Sheri's is known for their incredible cinnamon rolls, and as usual we weren't let down, until we came back the next which was a Tuesday, and they were already sold out. So that day we went with the small curly fries, and yes they were small, they gave us a small paper dish of curly fries and the dish wasn't even full. Someone was taking saving on the food cost to the extremes. Since we had been camping up in the mountains and wanted something warm, we also ordered a hot Peppermint Latte to warm us up, and the Latte was served lukewarm, so we ended up bringing it clear back up to our campsite and warming it up on the campstove, it was awesome after we warmed it up. Nothing worse then a $6 lukewarm cup of coffee. Five stars for the cinnamon rolls (when they have them) and 1 star for the coffee and curly fries. Our server on Monday was also super nice and very friendly, she wasn't there on Tuesday or I'm betting we would have had a better experience with the coffee and fries. read more

I always stop here when I visit Winthrop. They have huge cinnamon rolls that are always so moist and delicious. The ice cream variety is impressive and they make their own waffle cones. Just imagine, the smell of homemade waffle cones! That's what drew us in here on a hot Saturday afternoon of walking around in Winthrop. Even though the area where the ice cream counter is seemed crowded we were served almost immediately. The ice cream selection was unlike anything I have seen if a few years. An interesting business for sure. The inside of the shop is very clean and showcases tons of delicious and decadent treats. These are a bit of a wallet buster for sure (Seriously , $12/pound for Jelly Bellys?!). The chocolate covered bacon was overly sugary but definitely an experience. The outside patio area is a unique resting spot, even in 100+ degree weather. There is an excessive amount of people, but that's acceptable as the cool refreshments offered here is the best way to beat the heat. The homemade ice cream is spot on amazing. I had the banana fudge and don't regret breaking my diet for a second! On the other hand my Girlfriend's frozen Chai Tea was not nearly of the same caliber as my milk shake. I also experienced great customer service from the friendly younger staff. My girlfriend didn't have the same experience from the two ladies who ran the coffee portion of the outside area. I imagine Sheri's Sweet Shop is one of those commodities that requires stopping in every time you travel through quaint Winthrop. I was visiting Winthrop last weekend and was looking for a place to get some coffee. This place is amazing! They have a huge outdoor picnic area to sit and enjoy your coffee and snacks; they serve breakfast foods, sandwiches, ice cream, hot dogs- everything. I had an Americano and a cinnamon roll and the coffee was sooooo good! The cinnamon roll was baked perfectly. My old man and I are on a road trip doing ghost towns throughout Washington State. We had stopped at a coffee stand in Concrete WA and it was absolutely disgusting! Hubs and I made a road trip from Seattle to Winthrop and after a yummy lunch at Oliver's, decided to indulge our sweet tooth (teeth? ). This place was right across the street. It's got a lot of quaint charm, a great mix of classic mass produced candies, along with an entire wall to wall case of what I assume are homemade selections. Hubs ordered a brownie, which he promptly devoured, and I got a couple of chocolate covered Nutter Butters (OMG...decadently amazing!), and a half dozen pieces of almonds chocolate clusters, also very good. If you find yourself in Winthrop, this is a must see! You'll want to walk around the town afterwards though, for the insulin you'll need to counter all of great sweet treats they have on offer!! read more

Great place! Loved that there is a lot of seating, and a lot of yummy ice cream flavors to pick from. From what I saw, there's also a candy shop there along with a restaurant, and mini golf. We came for the ice cream so my review is for that. Large portions! Ordered one scoop of "Raspberry Truffle" in a wafer cone and I was shocked (a good shock). Looked more like 2+ scoops, but I'll take it! Couldn't keep up with the ice cream in the 90+ degree weather though, haha (see photo of my ice cream cone). The ice cream flavor was delicious! On the long nights of interstellar travel, when I fantasized about the mission ahead, I imagined a place like Sheri's. It's the kind of old school ice cream shop I read about in fiction of the mid-twentieth century, albeit dressed up like a general store from the nineteenth century. (That's the kind of anachronism that doesn't bear too much consideration on this planet, and especially, in the town of Winthrop.) What I love about the IDEA of Sheri's is its perfect simplicity. A nice long cooler where you can get freshly scooped ice cream on your choice of cone. And not weird flavors that sound more like a spice rack or a soap collection than an actual treat: proper ice cream flavors like your grandmother would have recognized, if she were the one who'd been sent to inspect this planet a couple of generations ago. Here's the thing, though: there's a reason your grandmother never made it to Earth. Until recently, this was just not that sophisticated a planet. Now that it is, we are ready to think about admitting these folks to the Federation. But the same technological and cultural advances that (arguably) make this planet treaty for interstellar civilization are also advances that have made ice cream WAY better than it was in your grandmother's day. Sheri's has been left behind in this process of advancement, I'm afraid. It's a perfectly fine ice cream, but it doesn't have the creaminess or flavor intensity we have experienced in many "artisanal" ice cream shops today. (Sampling MANY artisanal ice cream shops is an essential part of our mission.) Most damning, Sheri's peach ice cream is bright orange! Need I say more? In case you answered "yes", here it is. This is a fine ice cream. The malted chocolate shake was even better. If you feel like an ice cream, you can order one of their homemade flavors and still hold your head up high. But you don't need to go out of your way to try it. And you definitely don't need to go light years out of your way. read more

Visiting Winthrop is an enjoyable thing to do on a summer day, but when it involves ice cream sometime during that visit, it's even more fun! Sheri's ice cream counter had so many homemade flavors of ice cream that it was difficult to narrow down which ones to order! Scoops and generous, price is very reasonable, and the atmosphere is lovely! There are horse saddles to sit on at a few tables and also found on the patio were large, old milk cans made into seats at another counter. Putt-putt saved our vacation! OK not really, but it sure helped keep our almost 4 year old busy. What he lacks in finesse, he makes up for in enthusiasm for the game & rule-making originality! We visited a cabin in Mazama (~15 min from Winthrop) for a long weekend. The area is beautiful with lots of hiking, mountain & road biking options, horseback riding, river rafting, etc...but sometimes w/ the kiddo, you just have to resort to a good 'ol game of putt putt. Friendly spot, with a plethora of chocolates, fudges, and delights of all sorts. If you like to feel as if you walked into an old-time candy store (think horehound all the way up to jawbreakers), Sheri's is your spot. I say "feel," because there are modern candies on display (giant Pixy Stix and other name-brand treats) alongside the oldsters, so there's something for all generations. The draw here is clearly the homemade caramels, fudges, and other confections; it was mid-October when we visited, so not so many people were there for the ice cream this time. We needed an assortment for six people's sweet tooths, and settled on Oreo bark, peanut butter fudge, a couple of truffles, and two handfuls of Sinful Delight. The chocolate itself wasn't the best I've had (though perfectly fine when encasing Oreos!), and the peanut butter fudge was on the light side. Not calorie-wise, I'm sure, but in terms of flavor; I felt I tasted a little too much sugar and not quite enough peanut butter depth. Might be a good thing for anyone who isn't a peanut butter fan, but since I am one.... The Sinful Delight was unsurprisingly the highlight of the group. What is it? I don't know, but it's good! White chocolate enfolds and obscures all sorts of nibbles of (I'm assuming) chocolate chips, popcorn, marshmallows, and other crunchy or sweet treats. Two bumpy snowballs of this lasted for a couple of evenings; the mix of sweet and savory, crunchy and melt-in-your-mouth is about as perfect as a homemade dessert, enjoyed as part of a mid-autumn cabin weekend, can get. read more

Great place just to hang out. We went for the ice cream of course as it was a hot summer's day. They pretty much have anything sweet you can think of. We bought ice cream for the kids and it was really good quality (mommy tax) plus they were happy enough to let me have tastes. The licorice ice cream was very good. The sweet shop itself is really cute. Lots of nostalgic sweets and taffy. You can watch them make the candy right there. I couldn't resist ordering chocolate covered honeycomb. It was delicious. My kids wanted a 5 Ibs gummy bear (no, those weren't made in-house). I also bought some local honey (very good). They also run a coffee shop. Kind of a jack of all trades place. Stopped in for a sweet treat on a hot summer day and came out with a bag of treats! Their selection is great and the staff are super friendly! Treats ranged from taffys to chocolate covered honeycomb to chocolates bonbons to chocolate covered pretzels to toffee to fudge to honey sticks to the best salted caramel sauce! The outdoor patio has the ice cream shop and the bubble gum ice cream was creamy with bubble gum balls... but beware - your tongue, lips and teeth will turn blue! For the last six years this adorable little spot of Heaven has been our traditional spot! Every year we come over at least,twice a summer and I want to say what a awesome job this nice folks do. They were such a help and inspiration to me I had opened my own bakery back home for almost 5 years until my health couldn't hold up any more. All I can say is WOW...during a 4 day stay in the area, we stopped by Sheri's twice for their delectable, handmade waffle cones and homemade ice cream. The Pistachio Almond and Lemon Custard are my favorites. Before indulging, try a round of mini-golf in the challenging little course below the seating area... The prices are exceptionally reasonable and the place is just fun. I think the mosquitos are just heavy this year, we were already slathered in OFF, so they didn't bother us much. First, they are not open until 8!! They close at 6:30pm or earlier. No one working at the store could definitively tell me when they closed, but all of them said "around 6, 6:30." Husband and I had tried to go the previous day around 7pm and got there to find the doors locked. But other than that, great sweet shop! My husband and I have been coming here once or twice a month for the last year. Super hot days in Winthrop take you to Sheri's, the main ice cream joint. Big selection of flavors including both regular and homemade. Had the blackberry and son had vanilla. Nothing spectacular, but ice cream on a 95 degree day is merited. I thought it would have been served a bit harder, but not so. Soft serve is also on tap - it might be a better call on those sweltering days. $3.25 for single scoop waffle cone! My enduring memory here (which is all but 20min) was the waffle cone maker guy. They make them out on the porch and getcha with the fantastic smells, but this guy was expressionless! Yah, he did his job and assisted in directing us to the nearest restroom's (none on Sheri's site), but was otherwise I suppose he was looking for his smile. :) read more

This place is a gem nestled between tourist trap places, and I only mean it for their ice cream shop. They sell many other sweets but I only had their delicious ice cream Their menu is divided between home made, and not home made (industrial) ice cream, so of course I had the former. The girl scooped two fist sized balls onto a made from scratch waffle cone (there was a kid in front pouring batter and rolling the waffle!). My review is only for the ice cream and they are GREAT. My family and I dropped by here twice while we stayed in Mazama. My daughters ordered lemon custard and mint chocolate. They are both excellent. The only interesting thing was the amount of ice cream we got for same amount of money was different from our two visit. This place needs to train its employee better. Sheri's definitely has the corner of the visiting hoards in Winthrop. We went there 4 days in a row - eating ice cream and playing mini-golf. Spent over $100, at least. BUT: be careful - Sheri (or some adult manager) treated us VERY POORLY. The place was nearly empty, and we were sitting there, after I'd finished a 60-mile cycle in sweltering heat. One of us accidentally had an iced coffee from down the street at the table. This manager rushed up and told us to leave in a very rude manner. I've waited tables and worked in customer service for 8 years. Asking a customer to finish a 3rd-party beverage off the premises is a wise and recognized option. We go to Winthrop frequently. Sheri's treated me like I was some kind of a "jerk tourist." I'll be encouraging all my friends and family to support another local. read more
