Great new spot in Flushing! I was surprised by how crowded the restaurant was on a weekday at 2pm especially for a new restaurant. The food came out relatively quickly. We got the pickled fish rice noodle and the Sirloin with tomato rice noodle. The fish rice noodle came all together in a hot stone bowl. They gave a generous portion of white fish fillets which were SO soft and tender as well as lots of veggies. My friend ordered mild and said there was a slight kick to it in the beginning, but was fine afterwards. The Sirloin beef with tomato rice noodle came with all the veggie sides laid out and added into the hot stone bowl in front of you. The broth was very flavorful and the beef was pretty tender too. It had a few tendon parts in it in case some don't like that and it can be a bit chewy but overall, it was very good. Currently, they have a buy one set get another for 50% off if you promote them on Wechat (basically checking in on wechat and adding it to your Moments) which made this a super affordable lunch. Me and my boyfriend always go there when we crave something soupy and filling. My always to go is the pickle pepper rice noodle because it's spicy, a bit sour and rich in flavor (prob MSGs but what restaurant doesn't add that). You get to pick different soup and "toppings" and if you eat at the restaurant you can add unlimited amount of rice noodles if you need more. Newly opened noodle joint on hooker street and decided to give it a try. All the dishes are under $12 and there's a variety of noodle bowls to choose from. We ordered the spicy and sour fish rice noodles as well as the spicy sirloin rice noodles. The sirloin bowl came out with all the toppings on the side and waiter assembled the dish in front of us. FOOD: I tried both the broth and they were pretty delicious. The spicy and sour fish had a nice kick to it and I added some of the chili oil for extra heat. There were big pieces of fish fillets in the bowl so they definitely didn't skim on ingredients. The noodles are nice and silky and perfect to slurp on on a chilly day! we also ordered a classic fried buns with condensed milk and it was pretty good as well. SERVICE: The waitstaffs were pretty attentive and fast. This is a reliable Guilin-style mi-fun (rice noodle) shop. The interior is much nicer, cleaner and more comfortable than your average Flushing shop. It's on 40th Street where there used to be massage girls walking up and down soliciting for business but the block has been cleaned up and new restaurants are popping up including a Flushing branch of the Chinatown Ice Cream Factory which is situated in the same railroad style storefront as the Yi Fan fruit tea stand. I've eaten here twice and really enjoy the 过桥米线 (Crossing the Bridge Rice Noodle) which is served In a light bone broth. The name comes from a Chinese fable about a dedicated wife who would visit her husband who was so focused on his studies for the Chinese Imperial government exam that he isolated himself on an island and studied non-stop for many days. Every night, his wife would cross the bridge and deliver this dish to him to nourish him through his studies. Her walk from home to the Island was long so in order to keep all the ingredients that go into the noodles from getting soggy, she kept the vegetables and meat in separate dishes until she delivered the meal whereupon she would combine everything into one bowl. That's how they serve it to you here as well. (I may have embellished some of the details.) In any case, this is a good place with good soup noodles at reasonable prices. read more

I know that their most popular dish is the crossing bridge rice noodle soup, I've always been a fan of the pickled cabbage fish noodle soup. It's one of my favorite dishes and I feel like it's super underrated because it's not sold at a lot of restaurants and the few places that do sell it, aren't that amazing. However, this place knocks it out of the park. The dish comes out piping hot in a stone bowl, which I'm already in love with, and it has so many toppings. At other place, it's usually a few slices of fish, some pickled cabbage, and vegetables. Here you get sliced fish, thinly sliced kelp, mung bean sprouts, a mix of pickled cabbage and regular cabbage, tofu skin, and wood ear mushrooms. The soup itself is really complex; it's deep, peppery, sour, a bit numbing from the mala spice, and savory. I normally don't like rice noodles because they break easily in dishes, but these were thicker and more sturdier than the rice noodles I'm used to seeing and they remained that way despite the soup still boiling away even after I was half way through it. read more

According to my "genius" boyfriend, this plave is a gimmick. And by gimmick he means the food looks good in pictures but doesn't taste too good. And he's never right about anything in life but he is right about this. Aside from blandness, when all the little ingredients were served with the soup, they didn't even ask before they "helped" us put all the ingredients into the soup. The food was good, but the service needs a bit of an improvement. My friends and I were welcomed and quickly escorted to our seats when we got there. Everything was fine up to the point when we had a really rude server. She came with the hot soup base pot for the noodle and side dishes and she was literally screaming at us to move all our cups and plates out of the way so that she can put down the pot since it was really hot. My friend had accidentally spilled a cup of warm tea on herself because of this and the server just kept telling her to move away from the table instead of helping her clean up the mess. She then quickly adds all the ingredients to my friend's soup base without asking her if she wanted to do it herself or get it done by them, nor did she ask whether my friend wanted everything or leave some stuff out. She just rushed and threw everything inside the pot. Later on, when we were getting ready to leave, she PUSHED my friend out of the way since she was standing in front of another server who was bringing food out from the kitchen. That's really unprofessional and rude! But there was another server (a guy who has a tattoo on the back of his neck) who was really attentive and served great customer service! He asked me if I wanted to do it myself first and I said I did, then he told me which ingredients I should add first to cook and everything which was extremely helpful! I like the way they served the food, the food (beef in tomato soup and picked fish noodle) were fantastic and I also loved the complimentary tea (I believe it was jasmine tea.) Their pumpkin cake was overpriced though. I only give 4 stars because although all the waitresses were all super nice, the waiter's attitude was putting me off a bit.
