I have always gone to the Shi Ra Soni in Stockton, I like the #2 also. The chef was really good, the food fantastic and the service was great! Took my son there, his first time and he loved the food. Very clean and the steak and chicken (Karate Chop) what I had was wonderful! Definitely will go there again, especially the Lodi #2. Ehhh not my favorite place. I used to love coming here when I was younger. But I guess as you get older you expect a little more out of a restaraunt than entertainment and good food. Which they have both. But I'm not a huge fan of the service. I find it to be an on going pattern lately I'm never really satisfied with service where I go but this place did it to me with the guy sitting at the front desk. Not helpful and not friendly just sitting there, eating. This is definitely a place I think needs a host/hostess it's a confusing setup like where can I sit? You're there for a reason aren't you? You can't tell me to take a seat anywhere or show me to my seat? I don't know it's just off here. And something about my meal this time didn't sit right. It's unfortunate because the food is excellent normally and our waitress was extremely friendly. But I can't see myself going back. I'll stick to what I know with Asian food. I cannot say enough good things about shira soni! This is my absolute favorite place to get sushi in Lodi. Their prices are THE best in Lodi. Their service is awesome and the food is amazing. This is definitely a "special occasion" place for us. We only come here when there is something to celebrate, most of the time being birthdays. We went this past Saturday, they had three birthday tables there, so I suspect it's the same for others. I've never had a problem with the food. It's always good, always worth our money. It's $15+ for a dinner plate, but when the quality is this good, I don't complain. And the customer service is good. We had two hibachi grill tables, stayed there for almost 3 hours and I never felt rushed by the staff. read more

Definitely our favorite place to eat in Lodi. Date nights or when we take the kid with us, it always proves to be a good time. Staff is very friendly, food is excellent, and even though I'm not a huge sushi fan, it's pretty darn good too. My husband and I share a roll and a meal with extra vegis (cause those are our fav), and it's plenty of food for both of us. I highly recommend the garlic fried rice too. read more

We come here regularly and always enjoy the experience. We sat on the sushi side today. Unfortunately the server we had was terrible. He had almost no knowledge of the menu and couldn't answer a few simple questions. Other servers were refilling drinks and he took so long we ended up paying up front. My friend asked if she could order the karate chop and he asked what the karate chop was. One of the most popular items on the grill menu and he just seemed clueless all around. He ran off to ask if it was okay then comes back saying yes, she can order that from the grill. After leaving again he comes back to ask how she wants it cooked. Upon receiving our food we had an incident where one of the rolls had a string of thread in it from a hand towel. After giving the "where's our server look" for 10 minutes he finally makes an appearance. We told him and he says "Uhm. Let me tell my manager about it." And runs off. A woman came over and was very apologetic and helpful. She offered to make another roll with no change. The chef came over as well to personally apologize which was very thoughtful. We understand these things happen and If it weren't for the rest of the staff, aside from our server, we would probably not be back. They always provide great service so we still decided to tip and hopefully our server will get the training he needs. read more

What sets Shi Ra Soni 2 apart from other Habachi grill restaurants is the amazing garlic fried rice. Other than that, it's basically the same as all the others. However, last time I ate there I almost left right off the bat because the water brought to the table tasted like the smell of a fish tank. Yes, I said it, the smell of a fish tank. They obviously hadn't cleaned their water filter in a very very long time for it to taste almost swampy. Also, it didn't help that it took the waitress way too long to even come back for a drink order after dropping off the fish tank water. Makes me wonder what else back in the kitchen they don't clean properly, yikes. read more

Been here several times with the wife and kids; the kids don't quite care for anything unless it has chicken but there are several items on the menu that are good. I've been to several Japanese kitchens like this, I wouldn't say that this one competes with the others. I've been to a similar place in Alabama and it taste just the same. I like that they give you plenty of food; the chefs are entertaining. The kids are always impressed when they put the grill on fire. It's definitely for family and business outings. read more

Went ther to have a birthday dinner brought in a cake and right away told us cake was not allowed because my kids will get it all over the carpet and also said it's on their answering machine...how would we know that, we dont call before we come...Right after we were done eating I ask the waiter, nice kid by the way, if he can bring the cake out so I could take it home, then he turned and asked if I wanted plates and if i wanted him to cut the cake for us...how funny. Clearly if he's asking, they allow cake. When we were leaving not even a thank you for coming, happy birthday, hope everything was good! We as a community are why she is in business. I've been here and to the one in Stockton a number of times over the years. I haven't been to the Stockton one in a looooong looooong time though, so this review is just for the Lodi one. I went here the day before New Year's Eve to celebrate with my family. It was just how I remembered it. There were a couple kids in our party who were new to Shi Ra Soni, and they loved the show. The flaming onion volcano is always impressive, but the fun moments the chefs have with flinging things is also a blast. The food was just as good as I remembered, and the service was great. Had a birthday dinner here with about ten quests including three youngsters. They sat us quickly where very attentive an friendly. Their policy is you're not able to bring in birthday cakes Etc I had asked the waitress and she said she'd ask her manager but I asked her not to worry about it I understood. It was later that she came to me and said if I wanted to bring in my cupcakes that it was okay the reason that she couldn't let me earlier was because of a problem with another table who unfortunately were a bit angry at not being able to bring in a cake n was overly vocal. it was towards the end of our dinner and we were just about on our way out so it was perfect timing and it was greatly appreciated they also let you bring in your own bottle of wine of which they do charge a $5 corking fee but I do not believe they charged us for it the food was grilled very well the chef was very pleasant put on a nice cooking show and everybody enjoyed themselves I recommend them for a small party or even a first date read more

This was the worst experience I have EVER had! I decided to take my family out to dinner on a Tuesday and decided for sushi in Lodi. I have never been to this location. As soon as I entered I was greeted by a woman who immediately came off rude. I sat down and waited for the rest of my family to come. We sat down and slowly started acknowledging that they were out of almost everything! Through out our meal my mother had asked for steam rice when the server came back with the steam rice he threw the steam rice that it almost tipped over! Everyone just stood shocked. My fiancé then went to the bar area to ask for a mixed drink nothing was available but wine. She asked for a taste when the woman replied rudely "they all taste the same which one do you want!" WTH!!! This is only half of the situation. At the end we asked for a to go order in a separate check. She brought us a whole different check from I don't know who, I was like omg what's wrong with these people!! Then we asked for another spoon because the waiter dropped our spoon and never received one!!! Then they mixed the cards up and charged us the wrong amounts, had to void transactions it was just a huge Mess!! Our whole tab was $160 and I swear i won't ever go to this location not even if they pay me!! These people are so unorganized and clumsy but most of all RUDE!!! I complained and the "manager" literally didn't give a shit! We told him we will never come back!!! While we walked out he mentioned to his peer "they'll be back" we replied "never will we ever come back to this location" we closed the door and he came outside to yell some more! I have been to the location in Stockton several times but decided to try the Lodi location. Pure rudeness from the moment I walked in the door. My party and I were not greeted. We stood at the door for several minutes while a lady was on the phone taking a to go order, I watched two servers walk by, make eye contact but offer no assistance. When the lady hung up she asked if we wanted the grill side we said no we wanted sushi, she told us to seat yourself. Then a waitress comes over, gives us one menu, there was four of us, and says what do you want to drink. No greeting, no smile, very cold. We then decided to leave. It was clear from the moment we walked in they didn't want to serve us. I will never eat or try to eat there again. read more

This restaurant doesn't deserve ANY stars! Ate there this past week and was immediately sick with food poisoning! The chef spent more time talking to the other couple at the table than he did cooking our food! Not only was I sick, but my friend as well! Called the next day to make the complaint and demand my money back. And the manager was trying to refuse my refund. Claiming that no one else that night called saying they were sick. And kept trying to push a free meal and stating that they don't do refunds. I told them that all places give refunds and they're just choosing not to to avoid the bad reviews! Long story short, I got my refund today and they were once again trying to justify that no one ever gets sick from eating there. And that they can't keep giving refunds or else they'll go out of business! So please DO NOT EAT HERE! Save your money and go somewhere else.
