Came here with my coworkers for lunch one day as we're all ramen fans. Being a new place we did not know what to expect. The restaurants in this spot previously were not so great. The garlic tonkotsu ramen was good. The broth was good. The pork was good. The noodles were okay. I think they were a bit al dente for my taste. I was spoiled working across the street from samurai noodle in the ID years ago. So I'm particular to that style of noodle. The unexpected star of the show for me was the tacos. Seriously. Delicious. I've been back a couple of times now and I just get two orders of the tacos for lunch. The service is very polite. Sometimes faster than other times, but perfectly reasonable in all trips I've made. This was our first time to this restaurant. I was looking forward to having something different. Ramen sounded good. I don't recall what I ordered but what I received was a bowl of ramen with a metal shaving about 1" long. It was my sixth bite. I called it to the waiter's attention. He didn't offer me a replacement bowl. I didn't eat any more of it. When the bill came he still charged me for the bowl of ramen but reduced the bill by 30%. my wife had a $6 dinner salad so my bill was still over $30 with a tip. There was only one server and she was very kind. She had her own things she got to do but she still came over and check on us. I love how clean and safe they are taking the covid. I ordered to-go Shibu Ramen, Geso Karaage and extra bean sprouts. I was very disappointed. After the wait time, tipping and paying extra for bean sprouts which took my total to about $35. I would expect that they got my order correct. However, I came home and was missing my egg. If you are a true ramen eater that just kills the whole vibe. I'll just stick to Tokyo's Ramen in Federal Way where they get it right every time. Went for an early lunch yesterday (5/26), they were out of all sushi dishes, so half the menu gone. Ok. Ordered Ramen, added green onions for $1 - about 1/2 a teaspoon...maybe they had just run out of onions too? Ordered Iced Tea - waitress (with attitude) "What ice tea? We have many flavors" and rambled off a long list. I ordered unsweetened. I was parched, asked for a refill about 10 minutes later. Waitress makes it clear that refills aren't free, ok, I understand. Waitress comes back and says "we are out of Iced Tea" I replied that I'd be ok with one of their sweet or flavored Ice Teas and was told they were out of every single flavor. Hmmm. It really was odd. We were 3 well dressed older adults sitting quietly in a corner discussing a family member's terminal illness. We were not loud or obnoxious, but felt like we were not welcome here. Way too much msg in this ramen yo. I mean it looks good but the broth was just way way to salty. I couldn't even finish or enjoy the rest of my ramen. We also ordered the octopus balls, pork bun and karaage chicken. The pork bun was mostly bun and barely any toppings. Dining-in at Shibu before Covid was always pleasing. I'd usually get garlic tankotsu and chicken karage. The dining-in experience was a lot different than when I recently ordered delivery this past week: Dining-in, the staff are always very polite & attentive. The food is flavorful and hot just how I like it. The noodles are perfect and not over-cooked, while the meat is tender and flavorful. I love the garlic oil floating around in my pork broth. The chicken karage is juicy and golden brown; perfectly fried. For this experience I would give a 4 star. Ordering delivery is a different story. My broth for the garlic tankatsu and chicken ramen was not as hot as I'd like but I understand delivery will change this. One thing I can't blame on delivery time, is the chicken karage that was practically burnt. It was not tender and juicy but tough and hard and visibly overcooked. The pieces were small scraps as if it was the bottom of the bag of chicken and the cook just said "f* it." Instead of giving us good sized pieces and cooked nicely. I understand that "times are hard" during this pandemic but it's hard for everyone and us ordering from your business is helping you out and also the local economy so it would be prudent to provide a quality product. Food was mid. Staff lacked customer service. Not sure if they were understaffed but they definitely had an attitude for no reason. We typically go kizuki ramen but decided to try this out because we were in the area. They couldn't offer us any chili flakes or anything to make our soup spicier. We're used to the hearty, savory, garlic tonkatsu that kizuki offers and this place just didn't have that wow factor. We were disappointed to find that the egg in their soups are hard boiled. Heard they had some bomb veggie ramen here, so when I made the trip down here for a to-go order to enjoy during the cold weather. Everyone's favorite part of the veggie ramen seems to be the broth, and I think that's pretty impressive. Unfortunately, the veggies and noodles are less than impressive. I really wanted to enjoy this place, but I think I'll just stick to not doing take out ramen and making it at home. Their veggie egg roles were actually pretty good though, and I'm willing to bet if you eat meat, you will probably like this location better than me. I'm a fan. I'm not gonna be like that guy that compared it to true authentic ramen from Tokyo. Come on who does that? Don't be like that guy while using Yelp. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say Italian food taste better in Italy, German food is probably better in Germany AND Japanese food probably taste better while in japan... Yeesh. This is a good solid ramen option in Kent. I haven't found a better local option yet. I've only ordered the ramen. So can't speak to anything else on the menu. I've been about 5 times now and have not been let down. I rotate through the ramen choices each visit. The miso tonkatsu is my fave. The broth tastes great every time. Ramen on a rainy day is the perfect day for me. We ordered the chicken karaage and takoyaki for apps. Chicken was crispy and really good with the dipping sauce. Takoyaki was even better! I've never had takoyaki but I recommend if you like octopus. It's got a creamy and rich inside with that strong taste of fish flakes on top. Their spicy tonkatsu ramen was pretty good. Broth was definitely more flavorful than other places I've been to before and adding some of their chili powder made it all the better. Noodles could hold onto the broth better but my egg was soft boiled perfectly!!!! This will be my go to local ramen spot until I find better! read more

didn't realize the yelp page for this second location, so I will repost what I wrote yesterday on their first location: They just opened the second location at Kent station 2 weeks ago. The decoration is modern and stylist. I love all the small Japanese details that they add on around. Since we don't have much time, we decided to have a take out order and it was a wonderful choice. We had the shibu taco and the Shibu Ramen. The meat was the star thanks to its quality and flavors. The ramen broth was flavorful and not too rich, which is something that I prefer from ramen! The noodle is cooked perfectly along with the hint of kimchee flavor. We didn't have chance to try other dishes yet but will come back for sure read more

This is by far my favorite restaurant that's ever been at Kent station. And my favorite Ramen place I've ever tried in Kent (as a vegetarian). I've gone here a handful of times and service is always smooth and quick. The environment inside is clean, welcoming and modern. The music sets the tone for an upbeat time. There are two entrances- regardless where you enter a server/hostess is ready to sit you down and get you started. (By the way, they're the sweetest and do recognize their customers making them feel even more welcomed!) I always get the Veggie Ramen and add spice which is only an extra 50 cents. I enjoy tangy and bitterness- oppose to sweetness, so the broth is flavored very well- the tofu is fried and is mixed with a generous amount of veggies! I also always get their strawberry lemonade that comes w/a lemon at the top in a mason jar and it is so cute! Very picture worthy. read more

Staff were extremely friendly and we were seated and served quickly, but the ramen just wasn't up to par. We usually visit Kizuki in Southcenter, but were hoping for something similar closer to home. The ramen was just okay, but my husband and I could tell the noodles were not fresh made - they were thinner and had a different texture, not as chewy - and the broth was not as rich and flavorful as we've had before. Probably my least favorite ramen spot so far... everything lacked flavor. I ordered the takoyaki for 11.99 because the picture had about 10 on a plate shown, but I only received 6 pieces. They really skimped on the sauce and mayo too. But it was alright. The ramen was very plain. It didn't really taste like ramen, and I felt like the noodles were very different from any other ramen restaurant that I've tried. I was disappointed when I found out the eggs weren't marinated. My partner and I had almost the same experience shared by Quinton C. on 10/28/22. Last night, 12/3/22, we went in to Shibu for dinner. We were completely ignored for quite some time as we waited in the lobby, not even asked how many for dinner or that there would be a wait time, etc. Nothing. It was as if we were not standing there. Others who were seated and waiting were attended to promptly. A staff person finally came to the front counter after quite some time (not sure exactly how long) and asked if we wished to be seated at a table for two, to which we replied yes. She led us to a tiny table with the most uncomfortable metal folding chairs I had ever sat on, similar to school auditorium seats. She bypassed empty tables with nice cushioned chairs and took us the worst seats that they have. A young male server then brought us water. After that, no one ever came back. No one took our order or acknowledged us in any way. The servers periodically glanced our way but never stopped by for our orders. We waited and waited, trying periodically to catch someone's eye. By then we were becoming angry at the treatment. Between the initial ignoring, the lousy seating and the complete lack of service we were fed up. We left and went elsewhere. As we left the restaurant, not one staff member showed the slightest concern that two customers just walked out because they were being ignored. I am also (part) African-American; I had the distinct feeling that we were most unwelcome there. Strange, because we have eaten there before and been treated nicely, although all the servers last evening were people we had never seen before. The people we were used to seeing were apparently not on duty or perhaps no longer employed there. When I read the review posted by Quinton C. we knew that we were not just imaging things or being overly sensitive. The only difference was that he was picking up takeout and we were (attempting) to dine in. We will never visit there again. Our favorite ramen restaurant will never see another dime of our money. Theee stars is the best I could muster. We have ordered delivery from SR prob a good 5 times this year. Every time the order was wrong. Once- my broth wasnt delivered with my ramen. Once the ramen noodles werent cooked just put in the bowl. Multiple times they left out extra items with the order (ex. Twice my wife ordered an extra hard boiled egg. For some reason they have no problem receiving the money for said order but just can't seem to actually produce the food items that they charge and collect for). Their food is decent. Buyer beware is all- you will not get what you ordered. If it wasn't for my wife I would never frequent this establishment again. read more

I'll start with the good. Friendly staff, good takoyaki, good variety of appetizers, noodles cooked perfectly. But everything else was extremely disappointing. The broth for me and my boyfriends ramen was slightly flavored hot water. The chicken karaage was not like normal karage, also tried the geso karaage which reminded me of sushiland calamari . While service was friendly they were extremely inattentive and never checked on us once and after we asked for a check once we flagged someone down they asked if we wanted more water after noticing both of our glasses are empty. I am so sad that this place was not good and I was honestly shocked at the food quality. I was so hungry but I couldnt even finish more then half of my ramen. Maybe it was just a bad day or a new cook but I dont want to come back to find that out. read more

The ramen is a little sub par because the broth isn't as rich and it really wasn't that spicy. I got the Shibu spicy and it didn't impress me. However, the service was great and the space was large. I didn't feel crowded like a lot of ramen places can be. They have a large table that would accommodate a group of around 10 or more. The ceilings are high and it's a comfortable spot in a nice location. I might come back and try the garlic tonkatsu. read more

This has been my favorite ramen spot and I have recommended it to everyone. However, our visit yesterday did not go well. We were promptly seated and the restaurant was fairly full. My young daughter was watching her tv show on YouTube as we waited to order. The server came over and she took our order. So far, everything was normal and fine. She then asked for the volume of the show to be turned down. Which was fine. We had it around the volume of surrounding conversations in the restaurant, but we were okay to turn it down slightly. She then told us that it was "running her up the wall". I was shocked and not expecting this as the restaurant was loud already because of other customers, but the show was the issue. We decided to go elsewhere. We canceled the order and the server didn't ask why, confirming she wanted us gone. We won't be back. read more

we happened to drive by this place today and since my 8 year old is a lover of Top Ramen, decided we would stop by. It's a comfortable little spot. They have a sitting area if you go alone up at the bar. I didn't see any alcoholic drinks. We were sat immediately and had our food to us within 12 minutes of ordering. The staff is friendly made sure our water stayed full the entire time. The staff also came by a few times to check on us and make sure the food was okay. Just some ramen......the noodles are definitely a bit thicker and more dense. The ramen we had came with chicken sprouts shallots, pretty basic. It was okay! It was definitely better than any Top Ramen I've ever made. We also had the gyoza I like mine a little more fried. These gyoza look like had just barely been seared on the bottom and the top was still dumpling or pasta like. I would have preferred my Gyoza fried entirely. I've tried gyoza from several different places over the last 30 days and spring kitchen in Kent and BonChon in Seattle definitely make beats best. read more
