    Roast Beef Platter
    Dan M.

I ate at the Shiloh's Restaurant on N. Aspen in Tulsa on Friday evening, 3 November, and again on Sunday afternoon, 5 November. My meals were two of the best home-style restaurant meals I've ever had. I had the roast beef platter on Friday - incredible. The homemade mashed potatoes, rolls, gravy, and beef were out of this world. And the portion was very large. I left stuffed. But not stuffed enough to forego eating there again on Sunday, to celebrate an early Thanksgiving dinner with my son. The Sunday turkey dinner special included a large portion of baked turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, dressing, cranberry relish, and one more side. Another incredible meal, and the homemade pecan pie alamode we had for dessert was the best I've every had, and I bake! From the owners, Leonora and Jose', to the host, John, to our server both times, Evelita, everyone was amazingly friendly and did everything possible to make us feel welcome and wanted. I walked in a stranger and went out with new friends. Great food, attentive service, reasonable prices, and a comfortable quiet restaurant with ample parking and clean restrooms - that's what you'll get at Shiloh's! Thank you Evelita and everyone! I will be back the next time I'm in Tulsa.

We had a party of 60 people and the staff was very professional and friendly. The manager (John) went above and beyond to make sure that we were taken care of. He even interacted with several of the people giving the restaurant a very family like feeling. As far as the food, I wish I could give it 10 stars, because 5 stars aren't enough. The best family style food that you will find anywhere. If you need help getting started on what to order. The ribs, omelettes, meatloaf, fried mushrooms, hot rolls, green beans, just to get you started. Everything tastes great here. We will definitely be back.

Gisela provided great service! The strawberry rhubarb preserves start every meal off right with the homemade yeast rolls!

Hands down my favorite spot in Tulsa for some down home country cooking. I've eaten here many times for breakfast, lunch and dinner and can't recall a time where I left hungry or unsatisifed. When it's busy it can be a few minutes to get drinks or refills but it's to be expected. I've not had to ever wait a time I considered unreasonable. You probably want to know how the food is right? Well take it from a well rounded (literally and figuratively) !Yelper that the food here is ON POINT! From omelettes to CFS, catfish and burgers Inhave not yet had a meal that wasn't just filling and delicious!!! I am particularly fond of the chicken fried chicken with mac n cheese and a side of fried okra. Totally worth a shot!! A notable mention are these gargantuan dinner rolls served complimentary that you could use for a pillow to take a nap when you're done eating!!! Be sure to use the amazing jelly onnthe tsble in a ketchup style bottle!!!

My wife and I stopped at Shiloh's to check things out. I used to eat lunch at Shiloh's when I worked in the area. That was when they were located at their former location about 20 years ago. I remembered they had good food and the lady who owned the restaurant was very nice. My curiosity got the best of me and wanted to know if things were still the same, or have things changed over the years. When we walked in the door we saw a display of some good looking pies on display. We were then greeted by our waitress Morgan who showed us to our seat and took our drink order. The menu had mostly the same items that I remembered from the years past. Morgan brought us home made dinner rolls with butter. These rolls were very good. Shiloh's also has strawberry sauce on the table to be used on the rolls. We ordered the sampler appetizer with onion rings, fried mushrooms and potato skins. They were very good. For dinner my wife ordered chicken strips, mashed potato and corn. I ordered chicken fried steak, mashed potato and corn. We were pleased with our meals. They were as close to home cooking as anyplace I've eaten in a long time. The portions were more than we could eat. We took leftovers home. The only issue with our meal was the corn was canned corn. Even though it wasn't bad. I feel frozen corn would be a better choice. As far as our waitress is concerned. I found Morgan to be friendly, attentive and an excellent server. When I mentioned to her that I used to eat at Shiloh's many years ago and mentioned the nice lady who used to own the restaurant. Morgan said that was her mother who owned Shiloh's. I told Morgan that we were pleased with our experience and the food was basically the same as I remembered from so many years ago. We will be back.

We have been here twice, and I think it's my favorite dinner now. There's a huge selection, and we like everything we have ordered. Love the char on the bacon wrapped hamburger steak. Chicken fried chicken was well cooked too. Great gravy. Tried the fried cabbage since I rarely see it as a side at restaurants, and I like it. One of the best parts of eating is Shiloh's is actually the fresh dinner rolls they serve before your entree because you can eat it with the strawberry rhubarb preserve they place on every table. It's not too sweet, so I really like it. We also tried the lemon cream pie today. Probably the best pie I have tasted in a while. Yum! So far, the only thing I didn't really like is the onion rings because I don't like the flaky breading on it.

Dan got the Mathis burger, which is a mixture of sausage and ground beef with jalapeños, fried onions, and cheese. I got the bacon cheese burger, and we ordered home made fries to split. About 15 minutes after we ordered, they told us they were out of homemade fries, so we got curly fries instead. The food wasn't bad but just not wonderful as I expected. The service wasn't bad but we did have to stand at the counter awhile before they could take our order. They told us they were out of homemade fries at least 15 after we placed the order, and they took our order to the wrong table. Shortly after we started eating, we heard someone else order homemade fries. I don't know if they got more homemade fries in that short amount of time or if that man had the same experience we did. The decor was unique. The restaurant is set off from the furniture store with a row of chairs, which customers can sit on if the tables are full. I enjoyed glancing at the furniture and wondering if we might want to do some redecorating. Something we really liked were the prices. Restaurant prices have skyrocketed this year. Not only are the burgers priced right, but they serve breakfast at last year's prices. I'm tired of paying around $15 for bacon, eggs, and toast. Next time we want to go out for breakfast, we are going to try Hardens. I'm bumping the review up from 3 stars to 4 just because of the price. It's a good value.

My wife summed up the meal and wrote the review with one short sentence. As she wadded up her napkin and threw it in the empty burger basket she said, "That was a damn good burger!" My opinion, the burgers and fries at Harden's are as good or better than most offered in Tulsa. Better than many I have had, that were rated as the best in Tulsa. (Excluding charburgers, charburgers are a different animal) We had cheeseburgers and the homemade fries. Big juicy patties flawlessly cooked on the flat top. The fries were perfect. Most restaurants don't prep their potatoes properly for homemade fries. The result, within minutes after serving you end up with a soggy, limp greasy fry. Harden's does it right. The large thick lightly coated fries stay crisp. The crunchy patches of potato skin add flavor to the already excellent potato sticks. The furnishings of the restaurant are immaculate and expansive. The styling is extensive and varied, ranging from contemporary to relaxed modern. Decorative art, colorful floor coverings, attractive lamps and vases complement the furniture. Grab your burger basket and drink, wander around until you find a comfortable couch or recliner. If you like to eat in bed, they are available. Whatever you like, put your feet up kick back and enjoy the meal!!

There is an abundance of wine to choose from. Our server was rushed (and they were packed) and I didn't get a lot of direction on the wine so I just ordered a white sampler and just asked for three dry varieties. The first one I tried (Collan) was not dry in my opinion. The Triple was drier but my favorite was the Fume. I really got hints of pinion in this final one and ordered another 5 oz. of it. We tried the avocado bruschetta to start. It was four big pieces of good bread but was more avocado toast than bruschetta. I would probably go with a different appetizer next time. We both tried the burgers. I went with the mushroom-gouda one. It was over done and not seasoned at all. The gouda was nice and gooey and the mushrooms were seasoned well. Fries were OK. The table next to us had a couple of the flatbreads and I would try those next time. Back to the service. It was OK but our server had a tendency to just show up at our table and just stand. We celebrated the patriarch's 91st birthday Sunday night. I knew from a prior birthday celebration we had there, that they don't take reservations. That means that if you have quite a few people in your party, you just have to take your chances that they can accommodate you! They do have a call ahead wait list, however it will only accept 6 people. If you have over that mark, you had better go elsewhere. It was a Sunday night, and we were meeting there, so I arrived early to register our party. Since I could not make a reservation, or get on a wait list, I was told that it would be an hour wait! I was hoping that maybe the estimated time would be shorter. It was not! We watched people come, eat, and go for two hours! When asked about the wait we always got the reply, we're waiting for the people to leave! What kind of an answer is that? With all the people that they seated during the TWO HOUR WAIT, they could have taken us. I guess that I should mention that this was the second time this has happened to us with a birthday celebration! It most surely will be our last! Unless, and until, they institute a policy of taking reservations (I would have been willing to give a credit card to hold one), or opening up their wait list, we won't be going to Cheddar's for another birthday!!

The hustle and bustle of Friday night dinner plans hadn't started yet and there was plenty of seating. We were seated and there were crumbs on our "clean" table. We were moved and the floor under that table was sticky. Our server, who never introduced themselves, came and took our drink and appetizer order. Our sodas came out flat. The server didn't charge us and replaced them with waters. Our appetizer eventually arrived, the spinach, artichoke dip. The parmesan on top was not melted, we removed it like a sheet of paper. We told our server, who said, "oh yeah, I should've told you that it is better when you take it home and microwave it to really melt the cheese then it's really good". Even if we did enjoy the spinach dip, which we did not, there aren't enough pita chips to eat the entire appetizer. Those would be an additional charge. During the appetizer conversation, I did put my empty water glass to their side of the table to make a refill more simple. They started to walk away without even realizing the nonverbal gesture I made as to not interrupt our conversation. I verbally asked for more water and they forgot about it. I did witness the "ah-ha" moment when they remembered they had forgotten. My wife's grilled salmon had no real flavor, sitting on top of a basic bed of rice. Her tabouli was lacking. I can't forget to mention that when her side salad arrived, the food runner simply asked, "is this yours?" It was slightly off-putting. I never thought about my dining experience being altered by the food runner, but "side salad with ranch" versus "is this yours" is a minor detail that can apparently affect the experience. The server didn't come by as often as I felt they should. They did their verbal checks with the appetizer and the meal, but didn't see them do any walk by checks, until I asked for the bill. My burger was nothing to write home about, but it was good. The fries were undercooked and the thousand island dressing tasted like Kraft dressing. I ate half my burger and my wife ate a small portion of her salmon. We paid 60$ for food we barely touched and we took none of it home. I would rather pay 60$ at Chili's or Texas Roadhouse. We take those leftovers home. I would like to say that I would give Bison another chance, but that won't be the case. Too many mishaps on this visit to make us want to return. My wife was very tempted to talk to the manager, but I was more ready to just pay the check, leave, and take this experience as a sign to never return.
