    Scallion pancake

Such a hidden gem, the food was so good, came out fast and honestly my only negative review is that we didn't get any orange slices at the end so we had to request them, and our tea was not steeped long enough. Aside from that, no complaints! it's a no-thrills, get your food and get out spot. Prices are reasonable and they are BYOB. (We got some yummy house fried rice *not pictured* but I'm not the target audience for this deeper fried scallion pancake, i like mine a little softer) On the day we went there was someone celebrating their birthday and the vibes were so good!

Not going to lie, I chose this spot because it has a large parking lot and if you are familiar with Philadelphia, you understand what a huge plus this is! The menu is vast, with many authentic Chinese dishes, as well as "American" Chinese. My husband and I shared the salt and pepper pork chops as well as a bowl of hot and sour soup and greens with garlic. All of that for less than $35. The service was fast, the food was delicious, and we will definitely be back.

I like this place, they have good food here but they did not open for dine-in until today I visited philly. They have good rice with salty fishes. Their crispy noodle is good too. The service is fast and nice. They packed up the leftover food for us when we couldn't finish them.

My family has been going to Shing Kee for a very long time, ever since it opened. Its our familys go to spot when we want to eat chinese in South philly. The workers/owners are always super nice and friendly. This the spot to go to if you don't feel like driving to Chinatown and finding parking when you're craving for canto food. Recently, we came with a party of 7 on a Sunday night and it was fairly crowded, but we were seated within 5 minutes. We ordered 5 dishes and the food came out super fast. My parents absolutely loved the deep fried chicken, and I also think it is one of the best dishes here (even better than Chinatown's). The salty fish fried rice was also delicious, better than most places. The birds nest was OK, we've had better. Even with 7 people and 5 dishes there was alot of left over. Overall, the food was good, service was good, there was parking, and it was all fairly priced.

Solid Cantonese food in South Philly without having to schlep to Chinatown. In fact, many dishes are just as good if not better than ones you can get from Cantonese places in Chinatown. I strongly disagree with the reviews that suggest the service is bad. It is not super friendly and smiley, but that is purely cultural. By Cantonese standards, the service is more than fine because the tables are tended to quickly, the food comes out quickly, the check comes out quickly after the end of the meal, they often give you orange slices at the end, and it is open late. Favorite dishes include the home style fish hot pot (not the grouper one), stuffed triple delight, ginger scallion lobster, roast duck & wonton noodle soup, and salt pepper fried chicken wings.

    French style filet mignon
    Kimberly H.

This place is a fushion between Chinese and Viet food. It's a family style sharing kind of place. My boyfriend and I ordered three dishes and it came out to be about $60, which was a little pricier than expected. But I also got French style filet mignon which is usually an expensive dish! It was perfectly cooked and delicious and I highly recommend it! We also got deep fried salt and pepper calamari and honey walnut crispy with mayonnaise shrimp but both weren't as satisfying as other places I've had it. I would return to this place to try other dishes and to order the filet mignon again tho! So highly recommend for the experience!

The homemade DanDan noodles were our favorite, which are served with ground pork in a spicy peanut sauce. We also got the three cup chicken which was so good, with a sweet, licorice-like glaze. Some other favorites were the black pepper chicken and the long hot chicken, if you enjoy spice. We had the ginger and scallion dish and was not our favorite, as the chicken had a unique consistency and was quite limp. Overall, good service and a relaxing ambiance in a bustling city.

Unfortunately the experience at pickup wasn't the best. I asked if they had included utensils and the gentleman at the counter said no. I asked for some since I was bringing the food back to my hotel and wouldn't have anything to eat with. He was pretty dismissive and didn't seem to want to give me anything. (I also didn't get any napkins.) Just a little strange when ordering takeout, utensils should be included right? Or at the very least be readily given out when requested? He begrudgingly gave me 2 pairs of chopsticks and a fork, said he ran out of spoons. I didn't notice the lack of napkins until I got back. Now for the food. We ordered dan dan noodles, a chicken lo mein, and Taiwanese minced pork rice. The noodle dishes were decent but the lo mein was a bit too al dente for our liking...especially for our young son. Didn't get a chance to eat the rice because we were all too full from the noodles. Appreciate the generous portions at least. Will see if the rice will make it home safely with us and reheats well. Can't speak on the ambience. Wasn't in there long enough to really look around. Will I order from them again or try in person in the future? I'm not sure. I wasn't blown away by the food or service so...

Lazy Sunday after an unsuccessful Memorial Day beach weekend. It was cold and rainy all weekend but…read morewe decided to hit up some beef noodle soup place to warm up. On this cold almost summer day, Nan Zhou was hustling and bustling. Separate parties at the same round table and clients coming in and out of the restaurant facade. Warm lighting and active banter. I received my bowl of beef noodle soup was pretty satisfied. Beef was tender with flavorful bites of fattiness. Somehow, the meat tastes beefier than beef. The cilantro had potent herbaceous flavor with some spinach(?) and mustard greens. Noodles were pleasantly chewy w variation in texture. Lowkey, everything else was alright. I like to be nice so I'll say no more. Cucumbers were fine

We came here around 1pm on a Sunday and ordered the mapo tofu with noodles, the house special…read morenoodle soup, and a shrimp stir fry. This place was packed, which is always a good sign, and even with that the staff stayed super prompt and professional. The house special was my favorite. I got it with the knife-cut noodles and it was perfect with the broth. The noodles had that slightly uneven, chewy texture that really holds onto the soup. I never thought I'd be the type to talk about "mouthfeel" but here we are. The broth itself was rich and savory with a deep beef flavor, a little bit of oil on top that adds body without feeling too heavy. It's that classic, comforting Chinese beef noodle soup done really well. I added a braised egg, which had great flavor soaked into it, though it was served cold, which threw me off a bit. The mapo tofu with noodles was also really solid. It had that signature spicy, numbing kick from the Sichuan peppercorns, balanced with a savory, slightly salty sauce. The tofu was soft and silky, and mixing it with the noodles made it extra satisfying. It's got some heat but not overwhelming, just enough to keep you going back for another bite. The shrimp stir fry was lighter but still flavorful. The shrimp were cooked well, tender with a slight snap, and the sauce leaned more on the savory side with a mild sweetness. It felt like a nice balance alongside the heavier noodle dishes. Couple practical things: it's cash only, but there's an ATM right by the seating area which makes it easy. And the portions are generous for the price, so it feels like a really good deal. Overall, super satisfying spot. Busy, a little chaotic, but the food absolutely delivers. Definitely a go-to if you're craving hand-pulled noodles.

The food was delivered and warm on arrival. Everything looked great - colorful and nice-sized portion for the money. Unfortunately, everything lacked flavor. I mean, no seasoning, no heat/spice, and not even enough salt. The rice was gummy to boot. One item that had some flavor was the spring roll, however, it was nearly inedible because it was dripping oil. The spring roll rapper was surprisingly crispy, but I had to wrap it in several paper towels (this is not an exaggeration) to absorb the oil before I could eat it. To make my point, I poured nearly a tablespoon of oil out of the wax paper-like pouch it came in. My son said his was still too "greasy" to eat and threw it away. What a shame. We ate enough and have lots of leftovers that will likely end up in the trash.

A bit on the higher priced side for this dish but as I've had some great food from a different Han Dynasty location I didn't mind trying them out. Portion size was average on the chicken. Maybe a bad choice of dish or an off day but as compared to a few other Sichuan dry pepper dishes from other restaurants around Philly it was a clear step below them.
