DISHONEST and UNTRUSTWORTHY. I used this vendor's service on Jan 13th, 2023. Upon paying my $155 bill, I gave the technician a $100 bill and asked him to put the rest on my card. He charged me full price (I'm sure accidentally, neither of us caught it); however, that's not the issue. I realized it the same day and called the company. The supervisor answered and said he had to confirm with the guy and he'd call back. He then said the guy denied it. In disbelief, I asked if we could all hop on a joint call because there's no way he'd say that. The tech joined the phone call and said, "No, I didn't give him $100." He said, "You gave me a $10 tip, but that's it." To my face, to my face he lied. I still truly cannot believe this, and 3 years later, I am still in disbelief. I am not the type to leave reviews, especially negative ones. But to lie to my face, knowing I gave him $100 toward the bill, is unbelievable. Then I unequivocally told the supervisor that I was overcharged $100 and would like my refund. He told me that if the guy said I wasn't, then he wasn't going to believe me. This was the second unbelievable statement from this company. You have a customer here who is heart-wrenchingly telling you what happened, and you say, "We don't believe you?" Are you kidding me? They notified me about an hour before they arrived and when they did I got a call from Luis Ruiz that he has arrived. Luis did an amazing job on my two rugs. My tenant hired them, but there were all kinds of things in the carpet at the edges and the carpets in the lower level didn't even look like they had been touched. I called the owner to talk to see if I could get him to come out. He said his contract was between the tenant and his company and she OK'd the work. REALLY? He wouldn't have anything to do with it. I literally emptied my Kirby vacuum cleaner before I went and vacuumed two floors of my townhouse just to see what would come out. See the pictures for yourself. I kid you not....the Kirby was emptied on a folded open Golden Gazette. GROSS. I have pictures so you can see for yourself if you wish. I will NEVER call this company to do any carpet cleaning for me. I'll do it myself and do a better job! It was one thing to do a bad job. DO NOT HIRE THEM! If I could give 0 stars I would. They completely ruined my sofa that i had bought less than 8 months ago. Sofa was custom made and white. They used a cleaner that stained the couch brown. On top of that, they came to "fix" it and used an abrasive brush that created the fibers to come out and some areas are fuzzy. They refunded the money but why do I care about $250 when they just ruined my ~$4,000 sofa. This is unbelievable. If you are a reliable company, you should have some type of insurance to be able to replace furniture to the costumers if ever damaged by you. They are not professional at all! Edit: They reached out to the company that made the sofa and they are getting new cushion covers for it. Their insurance will not cover thousands of dollars, it will only cover damages less than $1,000. Some stains on the sofa frame itself where not gone, I still needed to get some stains out myself using products I have at home. We have two shag rugs and two large dogs, all have definitely had better days. With COVID 19, my husband and I are in our house all the time now and really started to notice how bad of shape the rugs were in. They smelled like dog, they were getting matte in some areas, they needed some TLC. Had my townhouse's carpets professionally cleaned by Shiny Carpet Cleaning. I have 2 dogs and they did really good with spot treatment with not bad, reasonable prices. To be honest, its hard work and takes time to get rid of the stains but it was worth having "like new" carpets again, no need to change my carpets anymore ! Luis did such a great job! He communicated thoroughly in the beginning and end, showed the problem areas with before and after pics. He also offered the option of upgrading to carpet protectant - which is great with a baby and dogs, and I am so glad he shared this option! Also, Andrew (the company representative) was super at explaining the process and pricing, they were both great to deal with! Contacted them less than 24 hours after the previous company cancelled. Was thankful that they had availability because I needed it completed the next day. Unfortunately, the arrived late. And I was only notified that the tech would arrive late because I called to get an ETA. I needed the work completed by 1:00 pm and they eventually arrived at 12:45. Luckily, my landlord was able to stay around as we needed to leave. My landlord returned after the tech finished to find that there was dirt on the stairs from the hoses the tech used and he did not bother to vacuum or clean the stairwell. I've called and left two messages for customer service but have yet to receive a reply. I remember it like it was yesterday: I was craving a late night snack and like some drunken Garfield, I had set my plate of Lasagna on the edge of the table...Oh, the humanity!! It is true that tragedy does unfold in slow motion, or at least that is how it seemed as I watched my lasagna tumble to the beige carpet (no 3 second rule here). Thus, the lasagna stain joined a pantheon of other stains:Coca Cola, roadside dirt, chocolate milk, and I have no idea where that came from. Fast Forward to Shiny Carpet Cleaning and a whole new world for my carpet. One day, I was walking around like Lady Macbeth, crying, "Out damned spot!" to a carpet-loving man of mystery rolling around on a pristine bed of shag.."Oh, Behave." Ok, that last part may have been over the top, but I really can't give these guys enough praise. My carpet tech Ian was brilliant. He explained the cleaning process at ever turn, and managed to cleanse my carpet of virtually every stain. He also went on to explain that certain items are the kiss of death for a carpet and that not even the mega-pressure of his machine would be able to remove stains. For example, anything orange is virtually impossible to remove but Coke is easy, and if you're thinking of dropping some Gatorade, you might as well just buy a new carpet, or cover it with a potted plant, because apparently, nothing gets Gatorade out. Ian was quick and thorough, and he left me with an immaculate carpet that looked just as good as the first day that I walked through my front door. Needless-to-say, I will most definitely use Shiny Carpet Cleaning again. Trust me this place rocks!!! read more

Update and review of this year's service: we used Shiny Carpet Cleaning last year, and needed the same areas done again, as well as a very large amount of carpet in two commercial buildings. The carpet is old, different textures, on two floors and on the stairs as well. Our window for arrival was 8 to noon, and I received a text AND call to let me know they were on their way. Arrival was around 8:10 and they were there for just over 6 hours. It was no easy job and we had a lot of furniture that had nowhere to go while the rugs were cleaned; things were piled on top of each other, moved into the bathrooms, etc but they figured it all out, moved things around (as much as anyone possibly could) and the carpets look so much better.... better than my skeptical self thought was possible! I did not even bother calling around before booking with them; the experience was great last year and I wanted - and received - another great result. While the business' flooring will most likely change this winter, whatever is chosen will still need care, and I am sure SCC will be back out to help. CALL THEM! read more

I had high hopes when booking this company to clean carpets in a house that I just purchased. Unfortunately, I was disappointed. At first glance upon completion of the cleaning, the carpets looked amazing from afar (see pictures - looked clean on the surface). However, once dry, I vacuumed the carpet to discover a vacuum canister FULL of hair left behind (see pictures - the canister was completely empty before vacuuming; the pictures are from ONE room). Now I'm wondering how could the carpet have been adequately cleaned and so much hair left behind? It doesn't make sense. When I brought this issue to their attention, they pushed back on the concern stating that the type of carpet that I had could bring up dust after the carpet dried however they acknowledged that the hair should have been taken care of during the cleaning. They only returned $80 of the $400 I paid. Would not recommend this service. read more

We completely cleared our family room for this clean. If you have little kids you know what a challenge that is. However having a completely cleared space is much easier to work with! I booked the service online and estimated what we would need. I knew our space was bigger than 200sf so I upped it to the next level even though it's not 400sf. I also added the stair option but also note we only have 4 stairs and no landing. I chose the premium clean that included a pretreatment, agitation and steam cleaning and then scotch guard. I also added the odor control option. They called a few days prior to confirm the appointment and we discussed the scope a bit, they confirmed that based on my description the price would come down when they saw the scope. Fair enough. They arrived within the window we set up and notified me prior to arrival. Great. Once they arrived I showed them the area and asked about the scope. They said all they had was $300 to clean the carpet. I said ok, but the stairs aren't really a full set, they agreed to take those off. Ok. So they started setting up their equipment, the piece was a vacuum that sprayed cleaner and hot water and sucked it up at the same time. Took probably 15-20 min for the room and then they started packing up. So then I asked about the scotch guard. Which I was informed we did not pay for. I showed them what was included in my estimate and what was written under the premium clean. They were very reluctant but eventually did it. Not without spraying down my walls and low hanging mirror as well. No additional odor control was done. After they left the room did smell good, but that was gone by the evening. Moving forward, I doubt I'd recommend them for a deep clean, You'd probably get a better value just getting the basic service and doing whatever else you need yourself. read more

I bought a Groupon for this service. The Groupon said that the technicians "scour up to 900 square feet of surface with hot-water extraction systems that use child- and pet-friendly cleaning agents, shampoo, deodorizer, and color brightener" When he told me he was finished, my carpet was still dirty -- basic dirt, not even a stain. I asked him whether he used shampoo, and told me that shampoo was not part of the Groupon service. A complete waste of time. They didn't bother to shampoo the carpet, and it is still dirty. August 2015: Shiny Carpet Cleaning is AMAZING! They came to my apartment yesterday. The carpet cleaner's teem name was Shiny Carpet Cleaning. They was wonderful and very solicitous of my small dog as well! They made sure that I was happy and took the time to move around some of my furniture. Stanley Steamer does not do any of that by the way. I have a 2 bedroom apartment (about 1,236sq ft) w/ 2 large closets and a large living room. To clean the carpets in my entire apartment, it was only about $110.00! If I would have went with Stanley Steamer again, I would easily be paying over $300.00! I don't know how or why I did that for a couple of years with them. What a waste of money! read more

I hired this company to do a basic apartment move-out carpet cleaning. I was given a time from between 12-4pm. The guy did call ahead like I was promised. However, a really young guy showed up in an unmarked minivan close to 4pm. I helped him lug the giant steam cleaning machine up two flights of stairs. I went to grab a coffee while he did the work. Not more than 15 minutes later he called and said that he was done. Honestly I was really underwhelmed with how the carpets looked, but what do you expect in 15-20 minutes. Maybe they make the "basic" steam cleaning so weak so that you have to pay for the "deep cleaning". What really bothered me though is that the young guy left his shoes on in the apartment and didn't wear any protective feet coverings. I had the apartment spotless in preparation for inspection. I could tell he used my restroom because he left wet dirty shoe prints all over the tile floor that I had to clean up afterwards. The guy was nice, but definitely not professional. Usually carpets feel refreshed after a cleaning and feel good on your feet.
