What a great bar. I love this place. Years ago, I stopped in and was driven out by the smoking. That era is long gone. They have a really great selection of draft beer and a great kitchen. The smoke is gone and the staff are friendly and helpful. I used to live near a Gordon Ramsey Fish and Chips in DC. I thought his Fish and Chips were as good as it gets but Ship and Anchor has broken the code. Seriously, I love this place. It's almost a perfect bar with a perfect English pub atmosphere. Back in GA for dinner with a British Nigerian subject friend of mine. So we stopped at the Ship and Anchor for, what I thought would be a singular British experience, y'know Fish and Chips, Yorkshire Puddings and Steak and Kidney pies and all that lot, but strange as it may seem, I forgot about Covid 19 and the fact that a lot of menus have limited options not to mention American palates are traditional to say the least. That being said, we started with three appetizers, Smoked Salmon, Spinach Artichoke Dip, and Lamb Kebabs. They were all perfect. Spinach Dip was fresh and smokey with jalapeno fried tortilla, Lamb Kebabs were tender and the Smoked Salmon was scrumptious. Appetizers accompanied by two drinks, Wrath and War. Based on the 7 Deadly Sins and the Four Horseman, Wrath was kinda Margarita-ish but that WAR was a great Bloody Mary with Absolut Peppar Vodka. On to the entree. Meatloaf with String Beans. I expected plain but it had veggies like carrot and spinach which was nestled between the gravy and the meatloaf. Now let's talk generous portions of appetizers and entree and dinner was complete. Service was top notch with attentive Customer Service from Ashley, bartender/server/ greeter and Rich, the General Manager/Server. Hopefully, when the pandemic has run its course maybe the Owner, if I might humbly suggest, expand the menu to include say a Ploughboy Plate, Victoria Cake, definitely Yorkshire Pudding and Mushy Peas made with proper Marrowfat Peas...just asking . I been living in the Sandy Springs area for over two year and just now have tried this spot and was not disappointed. One key amazing thing i experienced was the customer service. I came in alone and the bartender was so nice and just had a vibe that you met her before and just a sweet girl. I want to say her name was Ally or something. But she was a gem! And the other blonde young lady as well. Super sweet. I was very proud to see her cut off some guy who was super drunk and she politely told him I'm so sorry I can't serve you any more tonight for your safety. And I was so happy and proud to see that. If you're coming to use the jukebox don't bother, the employees don't even let the customers play any music. They will skip the songs or shut off the music completely even though people are paying money to play songs. Came in on a Sunday afternoon, slow but everyone was friendly and the vibe was welcoming. I loved the low lighting and genuine pub atmosphere. Amanda was our bartender and was perfect, I got a Jameson mule, my friend got an Old Fashioned both were really well made. Amanda recommended the bangers and mash which were so good I almost licked the plate clean. The bangers were nice and crispy and the mashed potatoes tasted so homey and comforting and the brown gravy with caramelized onions really brought the whole dish together. 10/10 from me and I'm picky with my mashed potatoes and gravy! It had the peels in it so you know it's not that instant crap. Perfectly salted and peppered too! This place is definitely worth checking out with the awesome atmosphere and great food. Was craving soft pretzels and beer cheese and this pub delivered! Went around mid-afternoon on a Sunday, and the place was empty, but that made social distancing easy. There's a spacious covered outdoor patio with picnic tables and outdoor couches. We ordered: - Giant pretzel/beer cheese (comes with honey mustard) - 2 piece fish and chips - The Original Dunwoody Doozie burger (come with fries or other sides) Loved the pretzel! Was soft, had the right amount of salt, and comes out on a cute slate slab. For the fish and chips I was not expecting the fish to look so tubular (more used to flat fried fish, and fluffy breading), but the fish inside was cooked really well. Not too oily, and the right amount of firm. Entrees come with thick steak fries, which also were perfectly crispy. The burger was okay. The patty itself tasted unseasoned/no sauce. Onion strings added to it was nice touch. Plenty of open lot parking, as it's located in a strip mall. All employees wore masks, and there is sanitizer as soon as you walk in. I would visit again at night, I think this place would have lovely vibes. read more

So, Ship and Anchor has become one of my go-to after dinner drinking spots. And the main reason is Rich. Rich is the manager and I almost always see him working behind the bar on the weekends. He makes KILLER drinks, seriously so delicious and well-balanced. He's also very cool and nice, which is obviously important. I can tell he is really passionate about making S&A stand out from the other DRG establishments. For example, my favorite little unique thing about S&A is the Seven Deadly Sins/Four Horseman drink list. A different drink for each day of the week (discounted on the day of sin). I think it's not only fun, but wildly creative. And they are all delicious. AND you can't beat $5 for a cocktail. Food here is good, but I will say, a little overpriced for the portion you get. Again, this is usually my after-dinner spot, so I don't usually eat here. Pretty good selection of draft beer and there is always at least one cider on draft too, which speaks to my heart. Very mixed bag of patrons here, but most pretty much keep to themselves/their group. Everyone enjoying themselves without being obnoxious...sounds good to me! read more

Me and my son decided to try this place because the Ramen restaurant near by had too long of a wait. The place looks like an Irish Pub so nothing overly exciting. Now down to business. My Son ordered the Dunwoody burger with fries which was average. I finally tried Bangers and Mash which I'm sure tasted exactly how it was supposed to, I'm just not a fan. The waitress was a tad bit too slow for my liking. Getting serviced was too long but hey. Now on to the disgusting bathroom that had spider webs, dirty bottom of toilet and the paper towel dispenser was gross. Visiting from out of town and my husband and I wanted a fun experience with good food and great beer. I called up to make sure they had the kind of beer that I like, they did and we headed there. It was a little difficult finding the place because we weren't from there, but we found it and walked in and we were happy to get the pub vibe. I'm not sure what the bartender's name was but he seemed a little off. My husband, who isn't from this country, is pretty friendly. I don't particularly care, but he wanted to engage and the bartender wasn't having any of it. Right in the middle of a sentence the guy just walks off. I was a little stunned, but my husband is good natured and blew it off. We decided to order some British fare because they bill themselves as a British pub. My husband ordered a burger, but I wanted the full experience and ordered fish and chips. By the way, the beer was subpar. I asked for a very hoppy beer and I'm not sure what I got. But, I was with my husband and we were having a nice time together so these things really were inconsequential. But the food. No. If you were going to bill yourself as a pub, you should probably have pub food and if you have pub food it should probably taste English. I exaggerate zero when I tell you that this was the worst fish and chips I've ever had in my life. I've bought better from a grocery freezer case. First, there was zero seasoning. Cod is a bland fish anyway, but when you put nothing on it and fry it...it's pretty gross. The best part about fish and chips is the very crispy outer layer. That didn't exist, it was soft and mushy. At any rate, I came to have a couple of beers, but the experience was so crappy that we just wanted to get out of there. The bartender that was helping us disappeared after I told him that the fish wasn't that good snd he told us he has a whole group of regulars (like 100...ok) that don't care for the pub food so I guess he doesn't put much effort into it. Anyway he stopped helping us and someone else came over. She said he gave us half off for the crappy fish, whatever, I like to think it was his poor attitude and rudeness that I got the discount for. Stopped in for dinner with the man friend while running errands in the area and were pleasantly surprised. The pub atmosphere was great and the food exceeded expectations. We split mozzarella sticks, the lobster grilled cheese, and the chicken tenders. All were superb, and the best steak fries I've had in a long time. Although a good amount of meat, unfortunately the lobster tasted fishy and like it was frozen. The bread they served it to me in? "Texas Toast"? More like Texas NOPE. Lol it was basic ass white sandwich bread not even toasted. Hella soft and soggy. This was very underwhelming and a disappointment. They have a jukebox that has the ENTIRE Smiths catologue not to mention Queens of the Stone Age and Discovery by Daft Punk. The parking lot is a bit dim too soo if you get to cozy with your co-worker(s) and can't form the "your condo or mine" line, you could always...nevermind. The staff is usually only one sever so if it does get busy, this person can get overwhelmed. As long as you know that, you will love this place. It's a typical bar atmosphere and has outdoor seating. Pool table is right by the juke box and is a fun time. Favorite items on the menu are the lobster and Brie grilled cheese, the wings and the flower pot of fries. read more

It was good, but I was disappointed because on their window it says they serve pies and pasties. My family is British so it's exciting to find food like that when not many places here have it. The waitress told me they are often changing their menu and they don't currently do those. My husband had fish and chips which he said the fish was just okay but the chips were authentic. I got the "deconstructed" key like pie which I think should be called a key like pie parfait instead. It wasn't really deconstructed. The drinks were good though. read more

A group of us came here for Thursday night trivia. The location is in a random strip mall, so that probably explains why it is never crowded (per the other reviews). On this trivia night, it had a decent crowd. I did like the outdoor area, though the view is just of the street nearby. The TVs are small so I wouldn't come here to watch a game. Service was good, though we didn't try the food. I would come back to play Trivia but that's about it. read more

There's not much to say about this ship hole (har har har) except, if you can't handle Irish whiskey, why bother? Yeah yeah yeah, the food is pub food, which is extremely delicious after you've been drinking but not bad when you haven't. I primarily like this place because you feel like you're in an episode of cheers, minus *some* of the witty banter and the laugh track. You can do shots of whiskey like a cowboy who just got into town or sip like a gentleman, and it's all good. Nobody is studying you enough to give a shit. Also, this place gives you a strong pour and a dog eat dog attitude! Pool games are also great here, even if nobody wants to really go 'color of money' on a game. Decided to get a couple drinks here while we wait to be seated at the Ramen place close by. We went a couple weeks ago and they were all decorated and ready for Halloween which was cool. The server was great and got a really quick service. They had a good selection of beer and cocktails. They even had a theme for their shots which was the 7 deadly sins. My friend ordered the green apple one but it was too sweet for me. I had a pint glass of the Full Sail Grapefruit IPA which was a pretty solid beer. I think the vibe was very chill and relaxed, which is great for waiting for a table at JINYA. If there's a long wait at Jinya, give this place a try while you wait. read more
