Had the mixed platter with fried oysters and fried shrimp. The shipwrecked sauce is good, reminds me of the Chick-Fil-A sauce from Chick-Fil-A. It is not so great on the fried seafood but excellent dipping for the fries. Take a pass on the tartare sauce, it was not good. The three stars were earned on service and dipping sauces (the Serrano ranch for the chips was just like Chuy's creamy jalapeño) and the hush puppies were awesome. It could be I am too much of a Houstonian comparing all seafood restaurants to Landrys and Pappadeaux - but in comparison this pales. I don't like most seafood, but my husband does and he loves the fish basket and boudin balls here. I've tried the grilled chicken (way overcooked and has a weird aftertaste) and now the crab. The crab was pretty pricey for what you get. Market price today was $21.95/lb for snow crab. It wasn't over cookies, which was great! But it was seriously stuck to the shell. I've eaten crab at several restaurants and cooked it at home- I've never experienced that until today. It came out in little chunks/threads rather than larger pieces, but it still tasted fine. Came on a Sunday evening (5:30). There was hardly anyone there except for a small quiet crowd at the bar. No obnoxious music was playing (that night, at least): good atmosphere. Service was good (but admittedly, we were the only non-bar patrons there). The food was okay, but pricey. Fries were a bit too greasy, and the food seemed pretty small for what we paid. Woohoo! As good as it gets... for BCS raw oysters. We finally remembered to hit this place up for 50 cent oysters on the half shell (Monday nights), and it was packed so we had to sit at the bar. We were pleased with out service, though, our drinks were never empty even though the bartenders were quite busy. Unless you really like sangria, I suggest that you skip the $11 "pitcher" of sangria. What they gave us was a pitcher not even as big as our glass of water, and it was 80% ice! we couldn't pour the sangria into our glass without dumping ice in, too. I had to ask for more sangria because it was mostly ice. Nice ploy, but I won't fall for that again, Shipwreck. We ordered two dozen oysters, and waited patiently while the guy shucked them in front of us, right there in the bar. Some of them were quite big! We like to go to College Station seafood for their oysters, but we know theirs are not fresh, and not even served on the half shell anymore (they used to put them in the shell, but it violated health code). After demolishing our two dozen, we split the blackened crawfish tacos. The first thing I noticed about these tacos was that I couldn't see any crawfish! They were there, though, hidden under shredded lettuce and their Shipwreck Sauce (which we liked). It was a nice finish to the meal, and the big bowl of black beans served with it were nice, too. Their menu is still too limited for us to visit often, I'm sure we'll be back every monday that we can, though, just for those oysters! My boyfriend and I have been venturing to restaurants in Bryan lately to avoid the chaos and crowds in College Station. We have been to Shipwreck multiple times and have been overall satisfied each time. Even on a Friday night, the wait was only around 10 minutes. It's best when the weather is nice and you can sit outside on the patio, which is probably twice as big as the interior of the restaurant itself. There are misting fans and live performances on weekends. The menu is rather expansive: burgers, tacos, salads, fried seafood plates, etc. with the fish tacos being my favorite. The sauce they put on them is the best. Grilled chicken sandwich was huge, but with rather bland french fries. Boyfriend loves going for the crawfish and oyster specials, but doesn't recommend ordering the steak unless you're ready for a workout trying to cut through it. Portions are a great value for the price (around 9 dollars an entree). Service is always great. Most of the waiters are young college girls who check on you regularly. Bonus points for bringing to go drinks without even asking. Side note: the ice here is prime. Will continue to go here when looking for something convenient that everyone will enjoy without fighting the college crowds. read more

Just finished eating at The Shipwreck after Texas A&M destroyed Texas tech. The atmosphere was fun, relaxed and had a great feel. Our waitress was very helpful and knowledgeable. After our food arrived the staff did not go sit on their hands and wait to get payed. The staff kept checking on us and refilling our drinks. The Shipwreck had multiple TV's on multiple games. Overall it was a great time with great friends topped with delicious food. If your in Bryan try it! read more

Went with a group in town for the football game a few weeks ago. We stopped off on our way in town to grab a quick bite and a drink after the long drive. Ended up ordering a couple rounds of food and staying for a couple hours. Great staff that sold us on the fantastic Shrimp diablos (sooooo good!!!) and fried oysters. I worked my way through college working in the food industry and it is always great to see a staff so knowledgeable about the food and made great recommendations. And I am not talking about pointing to the most popular dishes but asking us questions first on what we like and we're hungry for then tailoring a suggestion for each one of us. Went here on a suggestion from the hotel I was staying at. Tuesday, no wait. Shrimp Diablo appetizer was really good. Seemed to be a bit too much seasoning on the outside but plenty of paper towels available. I had the blackened burger and my boss had the grilled mahi mahi. Considering this is really the only real seafood joint in town we don't have much of a choice BUT to come here, but that's not a bad thing because they are good! .60 cent oyters on Mondays. Yes! Crawfish are almost as good as my brothers and he wins in cookoffs all around so that's a compliment. I stopped in at Shipwreck for a late lunch with a friend. We decided to split the combination platter of fish, crawfish, fries, and hushpuppies. I also ordered a bowl of crawfish etoufee. Our waitress wasn't the friendliest in the world, but the service was efficient. The etoufee was good, but I would've preferred a little more spice. The entree was fresh and very tasty. Came out to have some crawfish, unfortunately they go fast and we were late to the party! Had some raw oysters, fried crawfish basket and etouffee. I was not impressed with Shipwreck Grill for numerous reason. One particular being the lack of service and the congested dining area. The inside dining area was extremely cramped and not at all inviting. When my husband and I walked into the restaurant, instead of being greeted by a hostess, we almost ran into a table which was seated unusually close the door. Going to a restaurant is not just about the food, but it is also about the experience. In some cases, the food is so delicious that the lack of service can be forgiven. That was not the case with this restaurant. The food was subpar and the service was lackluster. I would not recommend this to friends or family visiting the College Station/Bryan area. read more

I honestly don't understand the hype for this place. I've tried it at least 3 times at the request of others and they all have been disappointing. Service is not the best, slow and not very welcoming or attentive. Food is just blah. I've tried their fish tacos, poboys, chicken sandwich. I ordered fish tacos and side salad recently and I got 2 tacos with a side of black beans with cheese. Tortillas were luke warm store bought tortillas. The beans seemed as if they had just opened up a can and put cheese over them while they were heated up. My boyfriend got a chicken sandwich with fries and the fries were stale as if they had been sitting under a hot lamp for too long. If you're looking for a loud and vibrant ambience then come check them out. I've drove past there and people use the Shipley doughnuts' parking lot because it is lacking parking spots. If you're looking for good food, I would try their sister restaurant across the street, Amico Nave instead of this place. read more

Fishdaddy's is much MUCH better, cleaner, and even somewhat less expensive. We went to Shipwreck just for the fun of it, and completely regretted it. Another reviewer said the odor of the restaurant was off putting (and should have been his first clue). I thought he meant something like their cleaning products, but what we smelled was old fish. Sadly, that's how my oysters tasted, too. I had to clean my chair of stuck-on food before I sat down - another bad omen. Much of their menu is drowned in Old Bay and hot (so-called) Cajun spices, which is a convenient way of disguising bad dishes. Every single thing was spicy-hot, so definitely do NOT bring the kids. Not one of my oysters had a drop of liquor. Any moisture was the frying oil; they were a bit greasy. The other dishes on the table were equally unremarkable. I thought people overwhelmingly preferred Fishdaddy's because it was closer to campus. It's just hands-down better. So now you won't have to waste a dinner satisfying your curiosity as we did. Oh, and Fishdaddy's won't charge you 50 cents for oleomargarine, as Shipwreck does. (Seriously, they charge you for it.) read more

I googled Shipwreck Grill and I liked what I saw online. So we gave it a shot and I have to say I am so happy we found this place! Everything we ordered was so tasty and for-filled exactly our southern food craving! Our server was so pleasant and helpful will all of our questions. We ordered Mexican martinis, shrimp diablos, buffalo style oysters and crawfish! I can not express how happy we were with everything!
