My fiancé and I were in the area finalizing plans for our wedding. Since it the off season not many places were open so we decided to try this place, even though it only has three stars. The beer sample was good and my fiancé enjoyed the white wine. I ordered the meatloaf which was beyond amazing, the blistered green beans that came on the side were delicious. Just look at the place, then tell me, what did you expect? It's a little "brewpub" in a tiny town with a population which I doubt exceeds 1000. For those looking for a gourmet meal in Egg harbor, go to Trio, but otherwise, you should know what you're getting into right off the bat. I had a burger, fries, and I "walked the plank", meaning had a flight of their in-house beer selection. The burger was a burger. Fries were just fine. Their house made BBQ sauce was really good, and I'm definitely not a BBQ kind of person. I would've even bought some to bring home had I the option. Beer wasn't awesome, but again, I wasn't expecting awesome. What I did very much appreciate was the super friendly staff. I can just imagine some self-important crabby urban-dwellers judging the staff and making accusations of fake friendliness, but turns out, some people in the world really are genuinely happy and just that nice. I'd probably be a lot less embittered about working in the service industry if my place of employment was in a "village" on the peninsula between Green Bay and Lake Michigan too. So, yup. My favorite micro-brew is their Cherry Wheat, and for those of you who don't drink beer they also offer a variety of Door County wines from the local Door County Peninsula winery. Go for the beer. The hot wings tasted like spicy smoked bbq, not too great. The ribs were meatless and not cooked well. The sour cream and garlic mashed potatoes were good. I have always meant to stop at this restaurant while I am in the area and never have gotten around to it. I finally stopped here this past weekend, although I didn't eat, I did drink. I got a wine initially and for being primarily a brewery and restaurant, they had a decent chardonnay. I did see that they had a flight of all of the Shipwrecked brews for a really cheap price (I believe $10), so I then ordered that. I thought that it would include maybe four or five of their seven beers, but it included all seven. They also have a bunch of other beers, if you also have a Budlight-loving mother who doesn't like to try craft beer. read more

We visited for lunch on Saturday during Egg Harbor's Pumpkin Patch Festival. Shipwrecked has been a long time go-to place in Door County for us. For a very long time it was the only micro brewery in the Door. Beer was OK, nothing special but it was beer and a fun atmosphere. After the rebuild they brought an old brew master back who greatly improved the Copper (amber). Now they have yet another brew master. They got rid of their old offerings and have many new beers, and more small batch brews. One of which is a limited time bourbon barrel aged Scotch style ale called Woah Der. Really good. Frankly I'm glad to have choices that aren't all IPAs. Not sure what people see in those. The service was excellent. We had waitstaff that was new to the area, but very friendly and accommodating. We shared a pulled pork sandwich and a bowl of chili. Food came out fast and was very good, as always. I can't recall ever having a bad meal there. We have had odd experiences with bar tenders but fortunately those are rare and usually on really dead days or extremely busy ones. This is pretty common all around Door County actually. While we miss the old Shipwrecked, the new one is modern and fun. read more

Being from Chicago, we were looking for a brewery. Since this is Door County's only brewery, we decided to stop and give it a try. It was such a nice day that we decided to eat outside. We were attacked by some bees and had to move inside, but hey sometimes stuff like that can't be helped. We got a sample plank and we were able to try everything which was pretty awesome. I really liked the Bayside Blonde and the Cherry Wheat. Really, you can't go wrong with the sampler. We ended up taking some IPA and Cherry Wheat home with us. The bartender was so nice and even cut us a deal on the growler that we had to purchase. This place is on my list for a return trip. Was it the best craft beer that I've ever had? No, but it was an adventure and I enjoyed every minute of it! read more

Great atmosphere, friendly efficient waiter. If only they wouldn't serve old fishy perch on their perch sandwich. My 1 sister sent it back and it was THE FIRST time she ever sent anything back. She re-ordered a Reuben but the meat was like that of the Carl Budding cheap deli meat and their was NO sauerkraut. She couldn't eat it. They still charged her for the Reuben though and there were 5 of us. Bad move. My pulled pork was good though. Should have been embarrassed to serve that perch in Door County known for fish. read more

The only reason this place is busy is it's location. The food was barely edible: 1. Slow cooked brisket should NOT be tough. 2. Sautéed green beans were soaked in butter and about 2 full tablespoons of garlic for one side serving. 3. My pork sliders were cold and the bread was stale. 4. Mac & Cheese was really salty. I had the Kracken which is a burger topped with BBQ pulled pork fondue cheese (a fancy way of saying cheese sauce) while my wife had the appetizer mini sliders (small portions of a hamburger, BBQ pulled pork, and a chicken sandwich). My sandwich was very good and very messy. Our waitress warned us that my sandwich was going to be messy when she served it. She also gave me extra napkins. My wife enjoyed her sandwiches. My only complaint was that the fries were way over salted. I tried 2 of their craft beers, the cherry wheat and the blonde. Both were good. We stopped here on our way out of town and were very disappointed. The chicken in the Waldorf wrap was grey and we also ordered the salmon special and it was on the menu as smoked but came out as sushi and tasted off. Our waitress wasn't very friendly and we showed her the chicken and instead of apologizing she charged us for the chips on the side and told us the salmon was normal. This is a 2 part review. If I was reviewing only on my dinner last nite - I could easily go w a 3.5. I went on a spur of the moment Girls weekend get away so we stopped to watch the amazing sunset in Egg Harbor (definitely 5 stars). After the sunset we stopped at Shipwrecked for dinner. Great (really great!) seafood chowder and a nice beer flight. We split the firecracker shrimp and it was ok. A little too much Asian influence for me. All in all - a nice 3.5-4 star dinner. Even liked one of the beers so much - I decided to take a growler hone as a present for my husband. This is where the stars rapidly decline. I left the full unopened growler in a cooler in my car overnite and by morning it had exploded and 3/4s of it was all over my trunk. I called them to see if anything like that ever happened before and was obviously hoping that they would tell me to bring it in and they'd fill it up. (The cover was still tight on it). The girl said they were to busy to talk to me and I would have a long wait if I wanted to speak to a manager. I said I'd wait. He got on the phone and said it wasn't their problem. So I then asked him to confirm that they weren't going to fill it back up for free and the guy hung up on me !!! I'm taking an empty growler home to my husband as a souvenir. Big $20 error on my part. It's summer in Wisconsin. I wouldn't leave it in my trunk in the winter obviously. So glad they sold a defective growler. It will look great in my recyclable garbage can in Monday. read more

WOW! Highly recommend! I was very impressed by this place, as was the boyfriend. We sat outside as the weather was beautiful, and we got a table overlooking the harbor across the street. It was beautiful! We shared the Beer Sampler to decide which beers to order, and well, we're beer snobs and had to try it all! Each beer had wonderful flavor, from the light to the porter. Very very good, we were impressed. For an appetizer, we ordered their hummus and chips. I was nervous about the chips, hoping they wouldn't be some greasy, store bought things thrown on a plate, however, I was wrong. We got a little bucket filled with homemade, thick potato chips with wonderful spices and flavor. The hummus was homemade as well, and very good! For dinner, the boyfriend and I split the Kraken burger with rice pilaf on the side. Yummy! The burger was great, not too big, not too small. And the rice pilaf was reallllly good. Our waiter was nice and helpful, he took pictures for us when we asked, the only turn off were the obvious hickeys on his neck. read more

I've been coming to Shipwrecked once or twice per year for about 4 years during trips to Door County. I never thought the food was that great, but I always liked the beer... until this last time. I ordered the summer seasonal brew and knew right away that something was off. Either the glass was dirty or the tap lines were. It was completely flat and had that distinct "bad tap line" funky taste to it. I called the college-aged waitress over and told her to tell the bartender about the problem, and that I'd try the cherry wheat instead. When she came back 15 minutes later with my beer, I asked why it took so long. She told me that the bartender had a lot of drink orders ahead of mine. When I mentioned that my "order" probably should have jumped to the head of the line since 1) it was a simple tapper and 2) it was a make-good for a bad drink, she just stared blankly and repeated that there were a lot of orders ahead if mine. Our food arrived and things got worse. While it's never been great food at Shipwrecked, it's always at least been solidly OK. This time my daughter's order of the curry chicken salad wrap was absolutely disgusting. It was sort of like a weird, vaguely curry-flavored mashed chicken paste. My "Kraken" burger seemed ok. It had a lot of stuff smothered over the top. But eventually I realized that I couldn't taste the burger itself. Upon searching for it, I discovered a small over cooked beefish looking disc underneath everything, which sort of grossed me out. The final straw came when the vacant waitress brought my bill out, and the beer I had sent back was still on there! Even worse, she seemed miffed when I asked her to remove it, telling me she'd have to talk to the bartender about that. All in all, it was an absolutely terrible experience. read more

Looooove Shipwrecked! I've been here twice, and it's been great both times. I've always liked the "Seat Yourself" rule. Don't let it turn you off if you're a fan of hands-on service, though--the servers are quick to welcome each person as soon as they walk in. Can't remember what I had the first time, but on the most recent stop, I chose the Crab Cake Sandwich. The cake by itself held together well, and the chipotle sauce on the sandwich gave it a nice tangy bite without being too spicy. I had a side of Tropical Coleslaw, which was delicious. I wasn't expecting to like the sweetness that much, but all the flavors blended perfectly together. My only wish is that the menu were a little more extensive, but I like having plenty of options, and the menu is far from disappointing as it is. Non-Drinker that loved the food. I wasn't crazy about walking into a place called a brew pub, but I had to get something to eat and this was the only place that was open and available nearby. Place was open and friendly, with families and even a dog, out on the patio. The waiter easily rolled with my lack of interest in the beer menu (which menu looked pretty impressive btw). I ordered the Reuben with hash brown casserole, and a perch sandwich to go. The only bad side, the hash browns were kind of bland. Salt and ketchup fixed that. The Reuben was high quality all the way around. One of the best I've had anywhere. Great atmosphere - even some cross talk between patio guests. Servers were friendly and fast. I nibbled on my wife's fish sandwich and it was top notch fish fry. I left about the time happy hour was starting, and the (very long) bar was filling up. We'd passed by it for many years before my husband developed a huge interest in craft beers. Once he realized this would be his only shot on our trip to Door County, we knew we had to pay a visit. I don't remember much from the visit except we enjoyed ourselves, were seated immediately, had some great beer, and took home a growler of Cherry something or other. Every visit at Shipwrecked was phenomenal. The sea food chowder is what I always order and it is the hottest food item on their menu. It was just okay. There new space is big and bright but extremely noisy. I had the Sturgeon Bay Cosmo. It was very good. My husband had an old fashion he thought was just okay. Same with our food. My Door County Cherry ribs were dry. Not bad tasting but nothing special. My husband said his cheeseburger was not very good. It was dry as well. Shipwrecked is usually one of our favorite summer stops. We brought some friends in for their first experience. Honestly, we were underwhelmed. We sat at the bar around 8:00pm on a Friday. It was relatively quiet but the service was very lax. One bartender (with cute pigtails!) was nice enough. The other woman spent so much time gossiping with the servers I'm not sure she really liked her job at all. We had a couple drinks and left. I ordered the New England chowder and the fish and chips. The chowder was good with fresh ingredients but a little watery for my taste but that's just a personal preference. The fish and chips came with a side of coleslaw and tartar sauce. The coleslaw was disappointing, it tasted terrible. The fish and fries were good but not worth the price in my opinion. The service was very slow and it wasn't even crowded and that's why I gave it a 3. It took about 20 minutes to get the first beer I ordered and the second one I ordered never made it to my table. read more

Had lunch here during the off-season. I had The Kraken burger and my husband had the grilled chicken sandwich. I got the sweet potato fries and he had the regular fries. The gentleman who seated us was super friendly and nice. It was apparently our waitresses first day and we were her first table! She did really well, was very cheerful and pleasant. Everyone in this restaurant looked like they had run over their cat in the driveway before coming to work. The service was extremely unfriendly (never once smiled, never said thank you/you're welcome, never came to check up on the table, etc.). The food was mediocre; I can barely make Mac-and-cheese without burning down the house and I'm convinced I could have made better food. The buns were dry and I had a piece of bad lettuce in my sandwich. The coleslaw was unseasoned, too vinegar-y, and bland. The positives: music was good, fries were nice and crispy, the upstairs floor had a nice breeze with the windows open, and the bathrooms were clean. read more
