Food - 5/5 Variety is astounding, most of the food looks appetizing and the flavors are all there too. The chicken is very tender while the ground meats can be a little dry but you just eat it with some tzatziki/hummus/etc. and it's all good. Service - Non-existent You pay and that's about all the interaction you're going to get. Instead of staff taking away your empty plates like a traditional buffet you dump your plates and utensils in the basket above the trash can in front of the door. It's about as self-service as you can get. Atmosphere - 5/5 There are only like 8 tables and enough seats for maybe ~30 people. FOOD + The tandoori chicken! Actually among the best I've ever had. + Huge selection for vegetarians. + I've never had dill rice before, but OMG it was so good. + The hummus was oh-so-garlicky and I loved it! ~ All the other meat options (a total of 4) were solid but not as amazing as the tandoori chicken. ~ The bread would have been nice if it was served hot to order. Otherwise, cold and a little tough (perhaps this is a difference in flatbread style that I'm not familiar with) - No baba ganoush or eggplant dip! Honestly baba ganoush is 80% of the reason I go to these places. So if they'd delivered a decent eggplant dip they probably would have gotten a 4 stars from me, easy. - Some weird things like what seemed like canned corn and beets. Whaaa? SERVICE - Pretty non-existent given the serve-yourself approach. You get your own utensils and plates, and (this was unusual for me) you put away your own utensils and plates. The latter was not intuitive (I had to watch the regulars do it), and the collection bin was overfilled over the trash can, so that you had to carefully balance your dishware on top of the already jenga'd tower of dishware. Not a good or clean situation. ATMOSPHERE ~ The preparedness and greenness of the offerings plus the huge selection and an ice cream machine lands the atmosphere somewhere between... a Chinese buffet and a grocery salad bar... But leans towards buffet because people stick around (a pretty good lunch crowd it seems!) and there's a TV on in the background. Stop in today after seeing their Yelp Review. Overall the food was good, they had a large selection of items on the buffet and for the price ($12.99) it was well worth it. Some of my favorite from the buffet were the Leg of Lamb, Chicken, Kefta and Chick pea stew. They also had a variety of other middle eastern food, salads, sides and desserts. One of the only negatives is the space, very small, not great for large groups, very tight, especially if they are busy. I know that's not their fault, they are working with the space they have. Definitely give it another try when I'm in the area. read more

3.5 stars! I found this place on Yelp while searching for new restaurants near me. I came here for lunch on a weekday. It is a small restaurant so the tables are super close to each other. It's a buffet and self served including drinks. You can sit anywhere you can. Once you are ready, you can go grab a plate and fill it up. You can ask for a cup of water if you don't want any soft drink. They have a great variety of food such as appetizers, meat, veggies and rice. The food was a bit bland but my parents liked them. However I would like some more salt and seasoning, especially in the meat. Overall, it was not bad for the price they charged but they didn't wow me with their food. read more

I had dinner here with my family and everyone enjoyed the buffet. It was great that there were two options--per pound or all you can eat. The per pound option was perfect for my daughter, a light eater, and it made the overall cost of our meal very reasonable. The food was great, especially the chickpeas and tandoori chicken. When we left the restaurant, I forgot my bag--luckily the woman behind the counter spotted it and brought it next door to the ice cream shop where we'd gone for dessert. She saw us there and returned my bag before I'd even realized it was gone! With customer service like that, we will definitely be back again soon! read more

This place is amazing! My wife and I went for the buffet and it was worth it. Good selection and the meats and sauces were very good. We arrived at opening and the chicken and beef were tender and not overdone. The fried rice was good with good sized chicken chunks in it. I dock a star because the pita bread was mostly dry with no added flavor and the salad bar was also less inspiring. I will however return and will update my rating as necessary. I will NEVER eat from this place again (Like EVER)! We ordered a lamb kabob meal (made from the back) and one buffet (because it had Kubideh and Chicken)....bad mistake. Everything on the buffet was gross, case in point the spinach tasted tin-ny (obviously a cheap brand from a can) and the Hummus was awful...who messes up hummus??? It really tasted like they mixed chick peas with rubbing alcohol and called it hummus. If anyone tells you this place is good or worth the hefty price they are crazy, the food is downright gross!!! I really wanted to give a 3rd star for this place because of the cheap prices but the food simply wouldn't allow it. Lunch buffet for $8.99 got my attention. Total bill came out to almost $10 bucks, 10% tax is what the lady told me. I liked the fact that they had 2 kinds of hummus, quinoa salad, tabbouleh and some other lighter items. Problem was that none of them had any seasoning. the parsley in the tabbouleh was barely chopped and I had to pick out large chunks of parsley before eating it. Rice looked good but once again had no flavor at all. Disappointed to see that all they had was chicken and ground beef kabobs. The ground beef kabobs once again had no seasoning and tasted like the burgers you got at the school cafeteria. Very dry and hard. Bread was grilled but you could tell it was store bought. Chicken kabobs were well cooked and actually had some flavor. The fact that their menu doesn't even have Shishkabob Express anywhere on it should tell you everything. Much better off going across the street for fresh cooked to order food at a very cheap price. read more

Went for lunch....the salad and vegetarian options were good....I really liked the humus. The meats left a little to be desired and they frequently ran out of items....the lamb shank and beef kabob were just ok, and that's kinda what I went for. I didn't dislike any item.... What made it loose stars 1st star; you had to bus your own tables. 2cnd star (and 3rd); there was a man who continuously took his dirty plate back to the buffet bar and proceeded to lick his fingers before touching each serving utensil, and I'm pretty sure his dirty plate touched the serving spoons....AND not one employee said ANYTHING....VERY UNSANITARY....two employees were sitting directly in front of the buffet, and in front of me....and 1 behind the register....someone saw, if I saw....so did they....(the dining room is only 500 sq ft....) had to leave after witnessing that. Too many communicable diseases for all that...(for real dude licked each finger, every time he touched a serving spoon and reused the same plate 3 times in front of 3 employees.....can you imagine what happens when no one can see?!) read more

I came here for the first time the other day and was greeted by a nice gentleman who took my order. The service and friendliness made me feel as if I were a guest in his own home. Needless to say customer service here is excellent. The food was fresh and tasted delicious. Shishkabob Express deserves a lot more credit than it makes itself out to be, based on decor and view from the outside. It's a bit tricky to spot from Lee Hwy since it's snugged on the inside corner of the strip mall. I have only tried their lunch buffet and am sold! For $10, you can enjoy good quality meat kabobs that are made fresh and juicy. Can't beat that! There is a delicious variety of hummuses and salad for the health-conscious.
