The food&service was always good in this buffet-however, since my office moved closer and I started coming here all the time(at least 1-2 times a week)-I must say that restaurant became even better!!! She makes sure that buffet is full of fresh& hot food! Coming from a Middle Eastern background I must say this has to be the best Kabob restaurant I have ever eaten at. I might even go as far as saying that it may be better than my mamas cooking!! I have been to numerous Kabob locations and to be completely honest the food, service, hospitality, price, selection of choices, is unbeatable and incomparable to other locations/competitors. Whenever my fiance and I come here I always get my favorite options: Greek salad/Caesar salad, yellow rice/brown rice with chicken, spinach, hummus, spicy chicken kabob, chicken kabob, kufta (beef), and top it off with some Greek yogurt and other delicious fruits and deserts. $12.99 for all you can eat kabobs! There are lamb, chicken, steak, kubideh, and veggie kabobs that are juicy and tender. If you're not into kabobs or meats, there's also a huge salad and veggie section at the buffet. There are also different types of rice (including my favorite, biryani), hummus, stews/curry. The only negative is that their pita was kind of hidden. When I finally found them in the heated drawer at the beginning of the buffet line, I wanted to put them back. They were so dry and hard to bite into. Stick with the rice for your carb fix. Dry pita aside though, this no frills place is amazing with friendly service. read more

I've been here several times for lunch. The first few times, I ordered the lunch special, which, for $5, consists of one skewer of ground beef or one skewer of chicken (4 chunks, usually thigh meat), rice, naan, your choice of two sides (spinach, chickpeas, potatoes, eggplant, salad). The food is mostly served from a steam table instead of cooked to order so the quality is hit or miss depending on how long it's been sitting. One time I had a late lunch and the ground beef was a bit dry and the rice was dry and hard. This time, I had a Groupon so I ordered the spicy chicken breast kabob platter for $9.99 off the menu. The chicken was fresh grilled, nicely done, not overcooked, and not too spicy. However, I received 7 chunks of chicken instead of the expected 8 (4 per skewer). The sides (spinach and potatoes from the steam table) were ok, not spicy at all so can be handled by most palates. I might've rated this place higher were it not for a few things. 1) only 7 chunks of chicken 2) I was overcharged a small amount. Tax is only 6% in Fairfax County so I don't know where the overcharge came from. 3) some of the tables/bench seats were not clean, 4) the ice maker from the soda dispenser was not working (I recall it not working when I was here a month or two ago) read more

"Express" says it all. Everything is ready, sitting in steam bins, waiting to be served. Personally, I would prefer if my kabobs were cooked to order. I ordered the double chicken kabob order for $9.99. With that came two chicken skewers (4 chunks of chicken each), a half piece of dry store bought pita, choice of whit or yellow rice and two sides. I decided on one spicy chicken, one regular chicken, hummus and eggplant dip. The spicy chicken was juicy, it had a mild amount of spices but was more flavorful than the regular chicken. The regular chicken had been sitting around a little longer than the spicy. It was not completely bland but it was not packed with flavor either. I ended up smothering the chicken with the yogurt sauce on the table because the regular was a little dry. The hummus was bland, it needs a lot of work. Maybe some tahini, spices, garlic and lemon juice to start. The eggplant dip was by far the best thing I ate. The base of the dip had a smooth consistency, there was big chunks off eggplant and it was packed with flavor. The store was clean and the cashier was very friendly. Then I found Shishkabob Express who serves kabob buffet! Score! It's rare to find kabob buffet so what the heck, I decided to give it a try late Saturday afternoon. Place was small but food choices were awesome! Boneless chicken kabob, spicy boneless chicken kabob, ground beef & chicken kabobs, and so many side dishes and salads, not to mention soups and desserts and they tasted damn good. We ordered chicken and lamb kabob. The chicken breast kabob was delicious and tender. The spinach side dish was also sweet and very good. The chickpeas was okay; had good flavor and not spicy. We did a carry out order and this was our first time. The staff (lady) there was really nice and even offered a tasting! Excellent customer service. My only complaint was that my lamb kabob was really dry, tough and overcooked. We would return and try the lamb kabob again but will ask them to make sure it's not overcooked. Just had lunch at this awesome Mediterranean express restaurant and will definitely be coming back with friends! Delicious kabobs of various meats (chicken and beef, to name a few), rice, yogurt type dressing, tabbouleh, and Greek salad were among my favorites! The kabobs were incredibly tender especially for being in a buffet! I gave 4 stars and not 5 because the tv was set on a news channel where I listened to political stuff which I didn't want but that's my personal preference. Great kabob buffet joint when it first opened up. The last couple visits were ok at best. Kubideh and chicken were both dry. The wings and "tandori" style thighs are still delicious. I was really excited when I found out about the buffet. I had very high expectations. But, I was kind of disappointed. I didn't hate it, but, I think it could have been a lot better. For starters the decor is awful. I don't know what they were thinking when they decided to go with red paint and mirrors everywhere. The dishes looked unclean and cheap. The salad bar was terrible. These were the the things that annoyed me. On the bright side, the meats were delicious and the side dishes were also good. Food was kind of cold, but that is understandable since I went at a non busy time. I would definitely go again in the future. Very good lunch buffet. Don't be fooled by the very small space of this place. Very tight and not lavish but very good food. Kabobs, lamb, chicken, sides, salad etc. all on the buffet. Gabriella is normally there to check you in and/or out. She is very friendly and always smiling and helpful. You can sit anywhere. Food is very close in authenticity in my opinion. We just found this place and ate there for the first time. The lunch buffet was great with many kabob choices. There was salad, soups, rice, etc. The price was $10.89. We went here for the first time on Friday. What a great bargain! Since they close at 8 PM and we didn't arrive until 7:20, i expected that the buffet would be down to the dregs, but not at all. Many people were still there enjoying the bounty and the cooks kept bringing out more kabobs and bread and veggies. We ordered for take-out the other night because we were craving kabobs. I got the kubedieh platter and he got the chicken platter, both came out to about $25. The chicken tasted good but the portion was laughable. It was a 1/3 of what you'd get at a neighboring kabob place. The kubedieh was perfect portion but the driest piece of meat I ever ate. The best menu item is the special which is the same price as the lunch buffet (but still available at dinner when the price doubles), 2 sides, bread, and chicken/beef. I have been to this restaurant over 200 times at least with family, neighbors, friends, clients and acquaintances. The selection of food is amazing. This place has a range of Greek, Moroccan, Iranian, Lebanese, Indian, Pakistani and Turkish dishes. That combination of dishes is great. We decided to visit on a Friday for lunch around 12:30pm. The place was fairly empty. I mainly tried the meats, salad, soup and dessert. The minced chicken kebab was the only decent kebab, especially if you go and a new batch comes out, the other chicken kebabs tasted old and/or over cooked, the beef was also good, but a little more tough. It takes them a while to replenish meats, so you have to sit tight and be patient. They had a good yogurt and cucumber dip and lemon to eat the kebabs with. The lentil soup tasted wholesome, packed with lentils, onion and garlic. For dessert they had oranges cut up, a rice pudding make with powdered rice and dusted with cinnamon powder, which wasn't too sweet, and a really sweet flan. All desserts were ok. Salads looked plentiful. I had the Greek salad, onions were a little soggy and the tabouli which had just parsley and tomatoes, but tasted fresh. I looked at some of the other items but didn't try them, as I'm on a low carb. diet. Bread at the front, looked old, my husband had the tilapia, but he didn't enjoy it, said it was too bony, rice looked ok. They also had potatoe and chick pea curry and biryani. Service is nonexistent, you just pay at the end, they don't even bring water to your table. I wouldn't go out of my way for this buffet, but if you're nearby, you could check it out. Walked in on a Wednesday night. It was dead. LOL The buffet is huge with many items. Including KABOB, Lamb, chicken. The salad was fresh, almost like a Greek style salad with feta, tomatoes et., The Kabob on the buffet tasted a bit old, but the lady brought out some fresh KABOB. Service was great! Maybe I came here at the wrong time (5pm on a weekday,) but the food was not even worth the money i spent on the groupon deal. When my boyfriend and I went in, the only person who was working there at the moment greeted us, which was great but i found it very strange that there was only one person operating this place at 5pm. After we ordered the food, the server asked us to pick 2 sides for each of the dishes we ordered from a salad bar that was not covered with anything, sitting there out in the open. The sides seemed so not fresh i am surprised I didn't get sick after eating it. I ordered the Chicken Breast Kabob and my boyfriend ordered the Chicken and Kubideh Combo. Yessssss. Soo yummy. I haven't been to a buffet with SO MUCH MEAT variety. Like COME ON. Everything from kabobs, to tandoori chicken, to biryani, delicious eggplant, and lentil soup. And the price you pay for that much food is very reasonable. Also, the flan is probably the best I've ever had. Also so clean. The owners were so nice.
