2 Peeps Meal: Garlic noodles + Sweet Spicy Garlic Wings + Spicy Cambodian Dirt wings
    Jeff C.

I liked it. I've tried their wings before at Smorgasburg and saw on IG they had opened a location in Monrovia. Simple interior with a few tables. There's also a patio area for additional seating. The wings are great! We got the Spicy Cambodian Dirt and Sweet Spicy Garlic wings. The spice is the lighter side. Fried perfectly with a nice crisp. The noodles were good. The 2-3 peeps meal is definitely more for 2 people, but maybe me and my friend are just low-key fatties lol. Will definitely be coming back to try more. Service was good. Friendly staff. Easy street parking.

The restaurant took over IM Burger. There is indoor and outdoor seating but went in July and it got pretty hot indoors. I tried the garlic noodles along with their chicken wings - Cambodian dirt and sweet spicy garlic. The Cambodian dirt was unique flavored with lemongrass. I liked that one and very crispy. The garlic noodles were great. Got a thumbs up from the kiddo. Staff is nice.

This spot replaced BurgerIM in Monrovia, and it's pretty good. I came on a Tuesday around 6 PM and there wasn't anyone there. The menu is quite simple with basically just wings and sides. I ended up getting the combo for 2-3 people, which came with 16 wings (2 flavors) and one large side. These are my thoughts on the food. Spicy Cambodian Dirt (Wings) - A tad spicy and a little salty. It was good, but leaned more on the salty side. The wings were perfectly cooked though, super crispy on the outside while the meat stayed juicy. (4/5) Dirty Elvis (Wings) - A wet rub, and this was my favorite. It was tangy, slightly salty, and just hit the spot. I'd definitely get this again. (5/5) Garlic Noodles - I actually liked how simple they were. They weren't overly seasoned, but they paired really well with the chicken. Sometimes simple food is the best. (4.5/5) Overall, the food was tasty and the prices were reasonable. I could definitely see myself coming back to grab a bunch of wings for a party. Parking - Street parking out front. It wasn't bad.

Shlap Muan I have been a huge fan of Shlap Muan since day 1! I'm so glad that they opened a Monrovia location, and since their grand opening I have been visiting a few times because they are so much closer to where I reside. We had family visiting recently from Nebraska and we took them here for dinner. Needless to say, our family bellies were satisfied and even the little ones who were picky eaters were eating so well. Their wings are always made perfectly with the perfect crisp/crunch and they are not oily which I appreciate! Ordered: Meal Pack for 5-6 $73 (40 chicken wings, 2 large sides) My recent discovery from them is the Cambodian Dirt fries. It's soooo good!! Even now that I am talking about it, I'm craving for some. My Favorite Dipping Sauce is the Water Buffalo. This meal was perfect because we had 5 adults and 5 kids and we wanted to bring some leftovers home for my father in law. Favorite wing flavors: Dirty Elvis, Cambodian Dirt, Naked, and Sweet & Spicy Garlic. Casual atmosphere . Super friendly staff. They also have a Long Beach location and are at Smorgsburg every Sunday. Definitely 2 thumbs up from this Yelper. If you like chicken wings then this is the spot that you must try out. Tips: *Indoor & outdoor seating available. *Credit card accepted. *TVs are available. *Restroom available for customers. *Free street parking. *Online ordering available. *Highchair available

Shlap Muan did not let us down! Wife and I were able to try them for the first time at the new Monrovia location. We came in to redeem the offers from the new SGV passport. Location is mostly street parking but was fairly easy. The staff here was as good as it gets. The cashier was very friendly and the manager on site had great personality. We talked for a while about the business and the items we should try on a future visits. There's plenty of tables inside and outside and also TVs for sports. We ended up redeeming our free 4pc wings and drinks. We also decided to order the Fries and Garlic Noodles. We tried the Cambodian Dirt and Spicy Cambodian Dirt for the wings and the Pekang for the fries. The staff was so kind to add a few more wings and fries for us. The wings were crispy and excellently seasoned! I enjoyed the flavors of both our option. The fries were fine and lightly seasoned. The garlic noodles were hefty and had good flavors. Everything we enjoyed there hit the spot. I'm happy this location is much closer for us and accessible. The hype on the wings is clear and we were told to try the Wok Fried wings next time which I really can't wait to try! I'd come back again and hope options take time to try these Cambodian chicken wings. Staff and service here were amazing! 5/5 easily! ( ^_^)b

Shlap Muan's eagerly awaited SGV location finally opened in Monrovia. Located inside a nondescript apartment building with a small white sign outside... I had to do a double take when I arrived because I thought it was a medical clinic. (They should splash the name "Shlap Muan" in big bold red letters.) The chicken wings -- Dirty Elvis is still the winner for me, with Cambodian dirt a close second. (I got an extra bonus piece for each order!) The garlic noodle, as I recall, was more garlicky and flavorful at the Long Beach main store and the (now closed) Pasadena ghost kitchen. FYI they also have a stall at the Sunday Smorgasburg in downtown LA.

Shlap Muan is THE SPOT for wings! My husband and I redeemed an offer of 4 free wings + 1 fountain drink from our SGV passports. We ordered the Cambodian Dirt and the Spicy Cambodian Dirt wings; for our drinks, we got Blood Orange San Pellegrino and Pink Lemonade Sparkling Water. We also ordered a side of fries with their Pekang seasoning and garlic noodles to support the business. They were generous with their portions! We enjoyed each dish. The Cambodian Dirt had balanced flavors of lemongrass and pepper. The wings were crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. I wanted to finish them, but I kept digging into the garlic noodles, too. The noodles had a subtle garlic taste, but as you get closer to the bottom, you'll get more of it. Be sure to mix everything well. The Spicy Cambodian Dirt wasn't too spicy for me. It was tolerable and enjoyable to eat! The cook on those was also consistent. Their fries had a nice crisp on the outside, almost on the verge of being well-done but I didn't mind! They were lightly seasoned so I wasn't able to get the Pekang flavor as much. I would order this again with their Jalapeño MSG. That sounds amazing! The interior is decent-sized that holds a few tables; they also have outdoor seating as an option. It's clean and well-kept. The service was top-notch! We were chatting with Mike while we waited for our food. He was personable and took good care of us. When other customers came in, he delivered the same service. We're definitely coming back! I'm glad they opened up at a location closer to us. Oh, we were told they are planning on expanding their menu. Even more of a reason to revisit. See you soon, Shlap Muan!

How can I ever leave the 626!?!? I ask myself that monthly as I discover new and delectable restaurants. Shlap Muan is serving up delishhh Khmer inspired finger licking wings. I had heard about this restaurant in Long Beach but could never make the drive out. Seeing that another store opened up in my hometown peaked my interest. I headed here with my brother and we were not disappointed at all. We got the Dirty Elvis and Spicy Elephant to share. They came out pipping hot with a mix of flats and drums. My oh my! The dirty Elvis was my favorite. Crunchy sticky goodness that wasn't too salty and still moist on the inside. I also enjoyed the spicy elephant which was a satay wet sauce over the wings. The wings itself are ordinary but the sauces are unique and done well. I'm excited to come back and get my wing on again!! There's street parking available and quite a bit of seating inside. Final Verdict: WING-tastic!!!

    Rosa R.

Excited to try this restaurant in Long Beach, even more excited to know that there was one closer, in Monrovia. Ordered the Cambodian, Dirt wings, unique and tasty. The pekang wings were okay. Looking forward to trying wings with sauce next time next time. The garlic noodles were great, unfortunately this location does not offer the shrimp that goes with it. Good customer service. Restaurant is small with limited seating inside and a small patio outdoors. Street parking available.

We originally found this place when we went to DTLA's Smorgasborg. Being Thai, I love the fact that they put a SE Asian's flare on fried chicken wings, and they did not disappoint! So I was stoked to see Shlap Muan open up near my home in Monrovia! We walked in and couldn't pin point what flavors we got at Smorgasborg, so the cashier told us that the Dirty Elvis and the Cambodian Dirt were the two popular flavors. We order those two flavors, along with the garlic noodles, and a side of the P'Um, which is described as lemongrass ranch. Dirty Elvis: This was THE one to get. It's like sweet Maggi sauce caramelized onto the wing. A blast of flavor, and this was definitely our favorite. We will be getting this sauce every time we go! 10/10! Cambodian Dirt: This flavor was good. It was a bit too tangy to me - 7/10 Garlic Noodles: A bit light on flavor, and not much of a strong garlic that I hoped. Noodles were on the hard side that day. It was good and definitely got my garlic noodle fix, but I still prefer the one at Crustacean or even at the local cajun seafood place. Overall a 7/10 We later came again and ordered the Tamarind Tiger: This was also a huge favorite of ours. Looks like you can't go wrong with any of the premium sauces. This flavor had the slight Dirty Elvis flavor with tamarind at the finish! A great flavor to eat to reset your palate from the Dirty Elvis. 10/10 I am definitely coming back! The only thing I worry about this place is it's location. There is no dedicated parking spot for this restaurant, along with it being on the ground floor of a residential apt/condo complex, this place will be hard to find. I did notice that they used to have tots, so I hope that they do bring tots back. Overally, I definitely recommend!

I first heard about Shlap through Andrew, Steven, and Adam's YouTube video, as well as its feature on SGV Passport. The original location is in Long Beach , but I am thrilled that the second location is closer to home. I visited during the soft opening and had a great experience. My boyfriend and I ordered the Sweet Spicy Garlic wings, Water Buffalo wings, and a side of garlic noodles. The Water Buffalo wings were our favorite due to their unique, creamy flavor, and all the wings were perfectly crispy and well-seasoned. While the garlic noodles were a great side, having Sriracha available would have been a nice addition. The owner and staff were incredibly friendly and engaging; the owner even provided us with extra wings and asked for our feedback. Additionally, there are plenty of indoors and outdoor seating. I will definitely come back to try their Wok Tossed wings.

Found this place from Andrew, Steven, and Adam! I watched their video and was disappointed when their only location is in Long Beach but I was driving by and recognized the store name! Talking with one of the owner's was so fun since he gave us so many recommendations and let us know that they've only been open for 6 weeks! I literally wanted to try everything from the menu but stopped myself and only got the Dirty Elvis. We got the 10 piece but the owner was so kind and asked us if we wanted to split the 10 and get another flavor. We got 5 of the Dirty Elvis and 5 of the Cambodian Dirt. He even threw in an extra wing for the Dirty Elvis! Talk about amazing customer service. Food: Dirty Elvis (9/10): These were unbelievably crispy, sweet, and moist. I had a 7 minute drive home and they were still hot and crispy. We were told to not close the box's lid so that it doesn't get soggy and that's how you know the owners care about the experience you have with their food. The outer layer has almost like a glaze to it and it acts the perfect sweetness to the wings. I could not stop eating these and wished I had more. Cambodian Dirt (7/10): This was like lemon pepper on crack. It was sour and COATED with seasoning all throughout the wings. I did wish that this one came with a ranch to cut through the sourness but it was still very enjoyable. If you like a sour wing, this is PERFECT for you.

    Cambodian dirt wings spicy.

Stopped in today for a quick bite. I got the spicy Cambodian dirt wings. Food came fairly quick. Really good wings. Great flavor. The spice wasn't super spicy. I would have liked a little spicier even. The manager Mike was awesome. He was friendly and helpful with suggestions. Place was clean. They have a large TV inside. Had soccer on at the time. Restroom even has a baby chamfer for those with babies. Plenty of parking. I look forward to coming back and trying some of the other wing flavors.

Dirty Elvis, not spicy at all ( the chili just adds a bit of a smoky flavor to the wings)

All the starters were delicious choices and, although the paratha was a little oily, it went super well with the peas and curry. The prawn curry was a flavor explosion with the prawns being perfectly cooked and the gravy rice was packed with veggies and a good amount of gravy. Some people in our party are vegetarian and everything besides the prawn curry were good choices for them. For desserts and drinks, we ordered RC Trio Delight, Smashed Strawberry Drink, and Rangoon Milk Tea. The RC Trio was a little on the sweet side but refreshing and the smashed strawberry was a delicious yogurt drink filled with strawberry. The Rangoon milk tea is delicious and a not too sweet option. 10/10 would recommend. Already thinking about the next time we come back.

This place happened to be on the way home, so we decided to give it a shot and I'm really glad we did. We ordered the lemongrass chicken and the crispy chicken, and both were excellent. The chicken itself was incredibly flavorful and cooked perfectly. The garlic rice was another standout! Fragrant, well-seasoned, and cooked just right. The plate also came with a small cup of broth, which was a nice complement to the meal, although it was a little mild for my personal taste. The only downside for us was the portion balance. A large portion of the plate is filled with raw cabbage, which makes the dish appear bigger than it actually is. While the rice portion was good, the protein felt a bit limited. We're also not big fans of plain raw cabbage, so we ended up leaving all of it behind. If it had been seasoned or lightly blanched, it might have felt more like a thoughtful side rather than filler. That said, the flavor of the chicken and the rice alone would bring me back. If you're looking for something quick and tasty, this is definitely a great stop. But if you're coming in absolutely starving, the portion-to-price ratio might leave you wishing for a bit more.

The curry broth was creamy, spicy, and packed with flavor. It came with shrimp, fish cake, tofu, egg, corn, bean sprouts, and noodles, so there was a lot in that bowl. There was actually an error with our order, but our server was so apologetic and immediately had the kitchen remake it. We didn't ask or complain, she just wanted to make it right. Really appreciated that. The Nasi Campur was great too. Rice with BBQ pork, Chinese sausage, fried chicken, and egg. Lots of different flavors on one plate and good if you want to try a little bit of everything. Roti Prata is always hard for me to pass up. Crispy and flaky on the outside, chewy inside, and that curry sauce they give you for dipping is so good. We finished that pretty quickly. Good food and even better service. Mistakes happen, especially at restaurants. How they handle them matters more to me, and our server handled ours perfectly. Would definitely come back.

They since have expanded and finally we were able to go. With that said, we ordered the Roti Prata ($5.99) - comes with only 1 piece along with a very small portion of curry sauce to dip. Expensive for what it is. For entrees we got the Borneo Seafood 'From The Wok' (rice option, $17) but more like 'fried rice' consists of a few shrimps, strips of fish cake slices, and some fish ball halves; and their Gado Gado salad ($13) - a medley of fried tofu, some bean sprouts and cut cucumbers along with fried shallot toppings and peanut dressing, but the egg omitted. All were good but not great, well, actually the roti curry dipping was excellent but too bad it was so small. Excellent friendly staff. Seating was quick followed by their prompt ordering process, and alas, food came out fairly quickly. Why the 3-stars you might asks? I find the food price to be on the higher side for what they serve. $6 for a single piece of roti is a slight overkill considering we were used to getting two pieces accompanied with a much bigger bowl of curry compared to similar (Malaysian/Singaporean) restaurants. But this isn't the main issue.... The main (issue) surprise: There is an extra 3% credit-card surcharge on top of your bill which isn't noted anywhere as I found out after I got home. When the server came back with their little machine to pay, options were the 'tip' - starting with the usual at 18% so forth, and of course most tend to choose the first option, as I did. Brought my phone up close to device unit using Apple Pay and NFC kicks in! So in short, I paid 21% more on top of my regular bill. Question is, who doesn't use credit cards these days, or was it just another form of surcharge to cover employee health insurance to deter from mentioning? Be aware.

The Curry Laksa is spectacular, featuring a rich, aromatic curry broth that is packed with authentic spice and flavor, along with a wonderful variety of ingredients loaded right into the bowl with the noodles. Their Hainan Chicken is hands down the best I have ever tasted! Even though the portion size is on the smaller side, the quality more than makes up for it. The meat is ridiculously soft, tender, and juicy, and the savory sauce served alongside it is top-notch. Finally, the Roti Canai is an absolute essential that you simply cannot skip. It comes out piping hot, with a flatbread that is perfectly crispy and flaky on the outside, soft on the inside, and paired with a rich curry dipping sauce. Everything here tastes amazingly authentic, and the incredible flavors truly transport you straight to Malaysia. I am so glad I finally made it out here, and I will definitely be back soon!

People are going in and out all night, and there's no lag time. The food comes out super quickly, too. - Nasi lemak with rendang curry beef: bold spices, but some of the beef was tough and stringy, and it got kind of oily pretty quickly. - Singapore style Hainan chicken rice: really good! the rice was delicious, the chicken was juicy and flavorful.

SinBala - Arcadia…read more SinBala is one of the rare Taiwanese restaurants that has stood the test of time. I grew up eating here. There used to be several locations across Southern California, and I'm glad the Arcadia location is still here. Every visit brings back memories. I come for the Taiwanese classics that are becoming harder to find. The popcorn chicken is still one of my favorites--crispy, fragrant, and seasoned the way Taiwanese street vendors do it. The Taiwanese meatball soup is comforting, and the Taiwanese sausage always reminds me of night markets back home. What I appreciate most is that SinBala doesn't just serve street food. It brings those familiar flavors into a warm, home-style setting. It's nostalgic without trying too hard. Before you leave, save room for dessert. Their shaved ice is a must. I always recommend the brown sugar shaved ice topped with five mochi or boba. It's refreshing, not overly sweet, and the perfect ending to a meal. Taiwanese food is often overshadowed by other regional Chinese cuisines, but places like SinBala remind me how unique it really is. Simple, comforting, and full of character. I'm grateful this little piece of Taiwan is still here.

A bit sweeter than my preference but maybe cuz I put condensed milk on it as one of the toppings. The grass jelly shaped firm and nice cubes so possible it's from a can as opposed to in house. Sausage I had as well not the best I've had but traditional flavor and served with lots of garlic on the side (wahoo!)

Tucked in the corner of a pretty busy Asian shopping center is spacious inside and when you walk in you're hit with that familiar scent of Vietnamese cooking. Food is amazing not only with taste but in presentation and speed to table. Nothing like that Asian efficiency.

They always have a lot of seating and are always willing to help if you have any questions or need any additional service. Their menu is extensive and they have a bunch of items, but my favorite thing to order there DIY spring rolls, as well as bun bo hue. To be honest, you could order almost anything on the menu, but those are my go to. It is quite loud in there, but there's always people inside, enjoying their food. It's a place to go and it reminds me of home when I can't get home made food. There's a bunch of TVs around if you feel like watching the news or any sports, their restrooms are relatively clean, and their parking is in a huge plaza so depending on the time you go, there should be parking! This is my place to go... I'm already thinking about when I'm going next.
