Wanted to keep this place a secret because it was SO GOOD, well priced, clean, and wasn't crowded on a weekday, but they deserve all the flowers I can give. There's not a lot of new places lately that we go to that we think are worth it but this is definitely one of them. Will add them to our rotation. Ordered online on a whim because I didn't feel like cooking, and I was so excited they opened a location near me! Online ordering was ready in 15 min AT DINNER TIME! Unheard of! I got off work a bit later than expected and they kept the wings opened in the box so they wouldn't get soggy, I ended up eating them about 30-45 min later and they were still so good, I can only imagine how good they were hot!!! I got the 3-4 person combo, excellent price for 24 wings & noodles or fries. For the 3 choices of wing flavors: Cambodian dirt, Elvis & sweet & spicy garlic and they were all solid. W garlic noodles - super good! The Elvis was our fave. Sticky glaze and delicious mmm. I loved the Cambodian dirt but my husband didn't (I love SE Asian flavors and he doesn't do it makes sense cus it had lemongrass seasoning) Service was great the worker was super friendly and efficient. At Shlap Muan, there are a variety of dry and wet Cambodian-style chicken wings. Spicy Cambodian Dirt: The chicken wings are dry rubbed with lemongrass and black pepper. The crystal-like seasonings give salty, citrusy, and tangy flavors. The skin is nice and crispy. The chicken is hot in temperature with very little spiciness. In this batch, the wings are actually slightly dry. They did hook me up with an extra wing, so I'm happy about that. Garlic Noodles: The garlic noodles are really good. I came here to grab a quick lunch the other day and while I love to support fellow Asian owned places, this was not it for me. I heard so much about the wings and all the different flavors so I opted for the 16 wing with the spicy Cambodian dirt and the water buffalo. The Cambodian dirt had a nice sour flavor to it but it was so dry and once you ate the skin, the rest of the chicken had no flavor. The water buffalo was basically just your standard buffalo sauce even though they said it was their version of it. I didn't taste any difference but the issue was that it wasn't even coated all the way. Half of each wing would be plain with the sauce only on a bit of it. Again, no flavor inside the wings. I also asked for a side of ranch because I know that sometimes wings get bland but they were trying to charge me $3 for a tiny sauce container. What? That's actually insane! Came on a weekend afternoon. It was easy to find parking on the street. Not sure if they have underground parking. Place was pretty empty with one or two tables occupied. Got the 4 wings for $6.50 and 8 wings for $12. We were able to get two flavors for the 8 wings. The flavors we chose were Cambodian Dirt, Spicy Cambodian Dirt, and Water Buffalo. The wings came out hot and crispy. The Cambodian Dirt had a good lemon, umami like flavor. The Spicy Cambodian Dirt was a slightly spicy version of the Cambodian Dirt. The Water Buffalo tasted cheesy and was really spicy. The sauce for the Water Buffalo tasted like nachos cheese. Good place to hang out and escape the heat. First fell in love with their wings at the Long Beach location, and am so incredibly grateful that they opened this much closer location so that we can appreciate the yumminess more frequently and really introduce our friends to the amazingness!! Dirty Elvis remains our absolute favorite, but the Pekang Wang and Sweet & Spicy Garlic are also pretty amazing!! This has also been such a lifesaver when our local brewery's food truck cancels last minute, or if we just weren't vibing with what was scheduled, as we required yummy sustenance to enjoy with our beers and play trivia! I love Cambodian food! My girlfriend is Cambodian, and we really enjoy trying all the different wing flavors. We've been to their Long Beach location before, so we were super excited when they opened a spot closer to where we live. We love how affordable the menu is. We tried the Cambodian Dirt and Jalapeño MSG wings, and both flavors were absolutely delicious! The customer service was great, and they also have a nice outdoor area that makes it a great spot to hang out and eat. I really enjoyed how simple and focused the menu is. Discovered this place with the Sgv passport and I'm so happy I did. 10/10 so good! The staff is so nice and helpful when ordering. We got the spicy Cambodian dirt, Orange habanero, and spicy sweet garlic. All were delicious. The Cambodian dirt was definitely my favorite which was his top rec. I liked it. I've tried their wings before at Smorgasburg and saw on IG they had opened a location in Monrovia. Simple interior with a few tables. There's also a patio area for additional seating. I ended up getting the combo for 2-3 people, which came with 16 wings (2 flavors) and one large side. These are my thoughts on the food. Spicy Cambodian Dirt (Wings) - A tad spicy and a little salty. It was good, but leaned more on the salty side. The wings were perfectly cooked though, super crispy on the outside while the meat stayed juicy. (4/5) Dirty Elvis (Wings) - A wet rub, and this was my favorite. It was tangy, slightly salty, and just hit the spot. I'd definitely get this again. I'm so glad that they opened a Monrovia location, and since their grand opening I have been visiting a few times because they are so much closer to where I reside. Shlap Muan did not let us down! Wife and I were able to try them for the first time at the new Monrovia location. We came in to redeem the offers from the new SGV passport. Location is mostly street parking but was fairly easy. The staff here was as good as it gets. The cashier was very friendly and the manager on site had great personality. We talked for a while about the business and the items we should try on a future visits. There's plenty of tables inside and outside and also TVs for sports. We ended up redeeming our free 4pc wings and drinks. We also decided to order the Fries and Garlic Noodles. We tried the Cambodian Dirt and Spicy Cambodian Dirt for the wings and the Pekang for the fries. The staff was so kind to add a few more wings and fries for us. The wings were crispy and excellently seasoned! I enjoyed the flavors of both our option. The fries were fine and lightly seasoned. The garlic noodles were hefty and had good flavors. Everything we enjoyed there hit the spot. I'm happy this location is much closer for us and accessible. I'm extremely happy that Shlap Muan has opened in the 626! Before opening, the closest wing place to me was Wingstop, which is very hit or miss. I love wings with SE Asian flavors. The service was kind and accommodating as well. We ordered the meal for 3-4 people with Cambodian dirt (lemon pepper), Dirty Elvis, Wet Buffalo, and garlic noodles. The stand outs for me were the Cambodian Dirt and Dirty Elvis. I love the sweet, sour, and savory flavor of the Dirty Elvis, which I'm assuming are cooked with fish sauce. Shlap Muan's eagerly awaited SGV location finally opened in Monrovia. Located inside a nondescript apartment building with a small white sign outside... I had to do a double take when I arrived because I thought it was a medical clinic. (They should splash the name "Shlap Muan" in big bold red letters.) The chicken wings -- Dirty Elvis is still the winner for me, with Cambodian dirt a close second. (I got an extra bonus piece for each order!) The garlic noodle, as I recall, was more garlicky and flavorful at the Long Beach main store and the (now closed) Pasadena ghost kitchen. Shlap Muan is THE SPOT for wings! My husband and I redeemed an offer of 4 free wings + 1 fountain drink from our SGV passports. We ordered the Cambodian Dirt and the Spicy Cambodian Dirt wings; for our drinks, we got Blood Orange San Pellegrino and Pink Lemonade Sparkling Water. We also ordered a side of fries with their Pekang seasoning and garlic noodles to support the business. They were generous with their portions! We enjoyed each dish. The Cambodian Dirt had balanced flavors of lemongrass and pepper. The wings were crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. I wanted to finish them, but I kept digging into the garlic noodles, too. The noodles had a subtle garlic taste, but as you get closer to the bottom, you'll get more of it. Be sure to mix everything well. The Spicy Cambodian Dirt wasn't too spicy for me. It was tolerable and enjoyable to eat! The cook on those was also consistent. Their fries had a nice crisp on the outside, almost on the verge of being well-done but I didn't mind! They were lightly seasoned so I wasn't able to get the Pekang flavor as much. I would order this again with their Jalapeño MSG. That sounds amazing! The interior is decent-sized that holds a few tables; they also have outdoor seating as an option. It's clean and well-kept. The service was top-notch! We were chatting with Mike while we waited for our food. He was personable and took good care of us. When other customers came in, he delivered the same service. We're definitely coming back! How can I ever leave the 626!?!? I ask myself that monthly as I discover new and delectable restaurants. Shlap Muan is serving up delishhh Khmer inspired finger licking wings. I had heard about this restaurant in Long Beach but could never make the drive out. Seeing that another store opened up in my hometown peaked my interest. I headed here with my brother and we were not disappointed at all. We got the Dirty Elvis and Spicy Elephant to share. They came out pipping hot with a mix of flats and drums. My oh my! The dirty Elvis was my favorite. Crunchy sticky goodness that wasn't too salty and still moist on the inside. I also enjoyed the spicy elephant which was a satay wet sauce over the wings. We originally found this place when we went to DTLA's Smorgasborg. Being Thai, I love the fact that they put a SE Asian's flare on fried chicken wings, and they did not disappoint! So I was stoked to see Shlap Muan open up near my home in Monrovia! We walked in and couldn't pin point what flavors we got at Smorgasborg, so the cashier told us that the Dirty Elvis and the Cambodian Dirt were the two popular flavors. We order those two flavors, along with the garlic noodles, and a side of the P'Um, which is described as lemongrass ranch. Dirty Elvis: This was THE one to get. It's like sweet Maggi sauce caramelized onto the wing. A blast of flavor, and this was definitely our favorite. We will be getting this sauce every time we go! 10/10! Cambodian Dirt: This flavor was good. It was a bit too tangy to me - 7/10 Garlic Noodles: A bit light on flavor, and not much of a strong garlic that I hoped. Noodles were on the hard side that day. It was good and definitely got my garlic noodle fix, but I still prefer the one at Crustacean or even at the local cajun seafood place. Overall a 7/10 We later came again and ordered the Tamarind Tiger: This was also a huge favorite of ours. Looks like you can't go wrong with any of the premium sauces. This flavor had the slight Dirty Elvis flavor with tamarind at the finish! A great flavor to eat to reset your palate from the Dirty Elvis. 10/10 I am definitely coming back! The only thing I worry about this place is it's location. There is no dedicated parking spot for this restaurant, along with it being on the ground floor of a residential apt/condo complex, this place will be hard to find. The Water Buffalo wings were our favorite due to their unique, creamy flavor, and all the wings were perfectly crispy and well-seasoned. While the garlic noodles were a great side, having Sriracha available would have been a nice addition. Found this place from Andrew, Steven, and Adam! I watched their video and was disappointed when their only location is in Long Beach but I was driving by and recognized the store name! Talking with one of the owner's was so fun since he gave us so many recommendations and let us know that they've only been open for 6 weeks! I literally wanted to try everything from the menu but stopped myself and only got the Dirty Elvis. We got the 10 piece but the owner was so kind and asked us if we wanted to split the 10 and get another flavor. We got 5 of the Dirty Elvis and 5 of the Cambodian Dirt. He even threw in an extra wing for the Dirty Elvis! Talk about amazing customer service. Food: Dirty Elvis (9/10): These were unbelievably crispy, sweet, and moist. I had a 7 minute drive home and they were still hot and crispy. We were told to not close the box's lid so that it doesn't get soggy and that's how you know the owners care about the experience you have with their food. The outer layer has almost like a glaze to it and it acts the perfect sweetness to the wings. I could not stop eating these and wished I had more. Cambodian Dirt (7/10): This was like lemon pepper on crack. It was sour and COATED with seasoning all throughout the wings. We're so happy to have another Shlap Muan location now located in SGV. Visited the Monrovia location around 4pm on a Sunday. The 20 piece wings were made in under 10 minutes. My wife and I ordered the Spicy Cambodian Dirt and Dirty Elvis. We enjoyed the Dirty Elvis but thought the Spicy Cambodian Dirt was lacking seasoning. We were hoping it was going to shlap us in the face with flavurrrr but it didn't. Not sure if it's just this location or maybe we just got a less seasoned batch. I recall the Long Beach location having better seasoning the two other times I've gone there. Besides that the service is good. The workers are always helpful and pleased to serve you. It wasn't busy at all when we got there. Just another couple beside us. The location is clean and spacious. Plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors. The ambiance was pretty mellow, quiet, you can hear a dime drop during our visit at least. Cambodian dirt wasn't bad, light lemongrass flavor but I would explore more into their other wet sauces in the future. A very casual vibe, in-door seating seems limited but they do have a patio as well. The service has been Sufficient. I'll be honest. we didn't like their sides. Garlic noodles are made from boxed spaghetti and fries seemed like frozen store bought. We will definitely come back but would just order the wings instead of their combination meals. As we all know the 626 offers a plethora of Asian cuisine but nothing truly Khmer (if anyone is reading this recs always appreciated) & unfortunately this place isn't really a true Khmer restaurant... but what they do offer is a updated twist on great Cambodian flavors. Shlap Muan literally translates into "Chicken Wing" so when I say Wing Stops gotta stop this is my new go to wing spot! This place is family owned, & I'm making it a mission not to spend my cash on large corporations!!! OG location in LBC so you know it's legit for Khmer food... We got the lemongrass rub & the dirty Elvis... the lemongrass rub (Cambodian Dirt) was my fav... tangy crispy umami!!! The dirty Elvis was sticky but didn't over power the crispy texture of the wings. The garlic noodles were solid, al dente, good bounce, garlicky... most importantly, solid flavors... great price!!! Back again for another great meal, and this place continues to impress. I love this spot. It's always clean, the food is consistently good, and the service is friendly and attentive. One thing I always notice is the restroom. In my experience, a clean restroom says a lot about how a restaurant is run, and this one is always well maintained. It's clear the staff takes pride in keeping the entire restaurant clean. Consistently great food, great service, and a clean environment. I would definitely recommend it. read more

Saw this place on the Worth It Wings episode and randomly recognized the name when they opened up this new location in Monrovia and had to try immediately. As a fellow SEA who looked at the menu and was paralyzed by choice because every single one of the offered flavors was something up my alley, I settled for a 10 piece of the Tamarind Tiger, one of their two wok-tossed sauces that they are known for. Sauce was sticky, savory, and a little sour where you're getting the full punch of the sauce in every bite, while still remaining crispy. So good. A little reminiscent of Orange Chicken. They even tossed some chili oil in my sauce to add some heat and it worked perfect. I also got an order of the fries with the Spicy Cambodian Dirt seasoning. Seasoning is phenomenal, but the only thing is that it seemed like the fries may have not been hit with the seasoning out the fryer because I went through a good portion of my fries tasting near unsalted and thinking they just went light, only in the end did I realize at the end that there was ample seasoning at the bottom that just slipped off the fries. When I did get to actually taste the seasoning, it did slap, so hopefully thats tweaked a bit. Pricing extremely reasonable - $16 for 10 wings in the wok sauces (and I hear every order gets an extra wing haha so 11) is solid and can definitely be that go to spot if you're in the area. So excited that Shlap came to Monrovia/Arcadia area! I've always had their long beach location on my "to try" list, but it's always been so far out of my way. Now I wished I tried it sooner! We got the meal deal with the elvis wings, spicy Cambodian dirt, & garlic noodles. Also added a small fry with Cambodian dirt seasoning added. The wings were incredible. My husband literally said, "It's a masterclass in saucing wings." The wet sauce of Elvis was sticky but not messy. The flavor was present throughout the wing. I ordered ahead and it was ready in about 15 minutes. The service was spot-on-- quick grab and go. There's plenty of street parking. The inside is small but there was a friendly ambiance. The fries were good with the Cambodian dirt seasoning, the bottom of the box was dangerously addicting- the seasoning piled up. It reminded me of the limon packets I used to love as a kid. Very umami and not super salty (there must be msg in it because it was a flavor bomb)! The garlic noodles were garlicky and delicious. I would definitely come back! read more

I've been so excited that they've finally opened in the SGV! I usually order takeout! What can I say I LOVE THIS PLACE! I haven't tried all different flavors of chicken yet but my top has been the Dirty Elvis! Sweet, tangy, just delicious. I usually order the 3-4 Meal and believe me you'll be full! I always get the side of garlic noodle it pairs so nice with the chicken. The Peking flavor is yummy and the Spicy Cambodian Dirt. Can't wait to try the other flavors! Staff is incredibly nice too! Fire food and friendly people! They were very welcoming. The flavors were on point. I tried the garlic noodles, and wings in: dirty Cambodian, tamarind, and dirty Elvis The garlic noodles are delicious and not overpowering in garlic. The chicken wing meat was a lil bit dry, but the flavors were outstanding!! The dirty Cambodian is like a dry rub reminiscent of lemon pepper, and the tamarind and dirt Elvis were so sticky and full of flavor... all delicious! I'll definitely get all of this again and try everything else too! read more
