We ordered two pho bowls, fried egg rolls, and a drink -- about $70 total. When we got home, we noticed the pork in the soup had a strange, funky smell. My daughter accidentally tasted a small piece and it was clearly bad. Since it was pork, we weren't willing to take any chances. We called the restaurant to request a refund, and instead of being understanding, they were argumentative and rude. They insisted we exchange the food rather than receive a refund. We were told the only person who could authorize a refund was the owner, who wouldn't be available until tomorrow. At that point, we were already grossed out and definitely didn't want replacement food. Looks like we'll be sticking with Golden Deli in San Gabriel, which is always reliable -- just unfortunate for us that they're closed on Wednesdays. read more

The pork chop here has gotten thinner and more dry over the years but I dunno why I still get it. The pho is solid too. This location's menu is more catered to the younger or American crowd cause it's pretty much all in English and it's basically all pick your own combo. I still come here instead of the original cause it's closer and parking is usually easier. Prices have gotten higher over the years but then again what hasn't. I ordered Golden Deli through Uber Eats for a quick meal, and they definitely satisfied my craving for a good Banh Mi! Their service was really quick, my order being ready after about 10 minutes from sending the order. When I arrived, the staff was very friendly, and pickup was super seamless! I ordered a banh mi as well as a Vietnamese coffee. The banh mi was super solid; however, the Vietnamese coffee was super, super sweet. I've never had Vietnamese coffee before, but given that it's made with condensed milk, I assumed it would lean on the sweeter side, but not to this extent. I grew up loving to eat at Golden Deli since their food is always consistent. They're located on Las Tunas Dr with minimal street parking and a parking lot in the back. It wasn't too difficult to find parking since the nearby businesses were already closed when I went to go pick up my order. I ordered a #2 with lean cut beef and a side order of egg rolls. If you ask them for no veggies, they give you an extra egg roll when you order their 5 piece. I love the rice paper rolled egg rolls that are deep fried to give you a perfect crunch with every bite. Very disappointing Saturday takeout experience. The egg rolls and dry noodles were good, but the chicken pho was surprisingly bad . We opened our order within 30 minutes of picking it up, so it wasn't a timing issue. Their service is usually reasonably fast and friendly, and the place was still busy with many people waiting in the lobby. But the food quality tonight was not up to their usual standard. At this point, it doesn't feel worth the wait or the price anymore. We really hope that they can improve their quality control to make sure the food they serve consistently meets expectations. The location interior design seems a lot more modern, and definitely not as busy. The menu is smaller and seems a bit more expensive (could be wrong because the other location may have adjusted too), the portion size was comparable but the pieces of meat was definitely lacking in the combo pho. I went to the original Golden Deli over 15 years ago and thought it was just okay. I felt like giving this location a try recently. We either found street parking or parking in the lot behind the block. - Bo Kho beef stew ($16). The stew liquid was thin, like a broth, and not too oily. I enjoyed the flavors of tomato with a hint of sweetness, spices, and aromatics. Unfortunately, the broth was too salty for me. The beef and tendon were soft, but I thought the meat could have gone longer. I simmered my leftovers for an additional 30 minutes with more water and unsalted vegetables. At least the baguette was good: soft, fluffy, slightly chewy, with a crispy thin skin. I also enjoyed the tiny bits of something with a nut-like texture in the soup. - Cha trung steamed egg ($3.60). It's rare to find cha trung as a side, so I jumped at the opportunity. It was good, my favorite item of the meal, but not my favorite cha trung. There was kind of a lot of rice noodle in the filling. I had a bite of my bf's Regular Pho ($14). He ordered it with every meat option including tendon and tripe. The broth was okay, noodles were somewhat chewy, and meat was tough. read more

I don't even know where to begin. Golden Deli has been my families go to place since they only had one location in San Gabriel. They have been coming here since before I was born. My personal favorite is the pork chop. I have not been able to find another place that makes a better pork chop. Tofu Pho: 10/10 the veggie broth is delicious and they give you a huge amount of tofu!! Spring Rolls: 10/10 Delicious and always the freshest. I have brought countless people to try Golden Deli and they all leave loving it. The service is always great and all the workers are so kind. The food comes out very quick and hot. I definitely recommend eating here vs to go. During Covid, we always came to pick up our order and eat it at home. It's still delicious at home but can't compare to eating it here. The inside is always clean and the workers are always cleaning. They are also very accommodating to bigger parties. I recommend coming during the week because you may have to wait a bit during the weekends ( it is worth it ). I cannot say enough good things about golden deli. Golden Deli is amazing and perhaps the best Vietnamese food in SGV. The Temple City location is more modern than the San Gabriel location, but you can't go wrong going to either. My favorite dishes here are: chả giò (egg rolls): perfectly crunchy and flavorful with just the right amount of filling cà ri gà with bánh mì (curry with baguette): Vietnamese curry tend to be more mild and balanced and also more soup-y than other types of curry.
