Well, tbh, I had a simple job to be done on some floppy leather shoes. The side of the sole started to separate from the center towards the toe. $45 to glue and I assume stitch. After trying to retrieve for a few weeks, on the 2nd wear the original separation opened back up. Id have taken them back but the operation hours of this place make it extremely difficult to do any business with them, if you have a normal job. Poor quality. I asked to have leather stripes sewn on the sides of my boots. The shop owner should have told me that they could not sew them with a straight stitch. The stitches are wavy and very unprofessional. Looks like a very unskilled worker did them. Also I felt customer service was poor. DON'T GO HERE! This place is the worst!! I dropped off a backpack at the end of September to have zippers fixed. The owner said it would be done in a week. I went back two weeks later and he said it wasn't done to come back on Monday. I came back and it still wasn't done. Again, he said come back in a week. I just picked it up today, almost 6 weeks from the day I dropped it off. I don't like being lied to or strung along. He should of told be to begin with that it would be 4 weeks. I would have chosen to either leave it or go somewhere else. Now the damage has been done and I will never use his services again. There are several other shoe repair places in Long Beach and Lakewood. Use any of them except this guy. I gave this business a chance but after leaving my boots there for an easy repair of bottom heel Ricky said it would take just a day. I came back the next day and he says he didn't get to it but will have it by the following week. I called this time and asked if they were ready and after 'checking' he said they would take another day because he's really behind. I called on week 3 and he said they're ready. I went and his store was closed. Coming from Irvine, I come back on week 4. After looking for it and pulling every other boot that wasn't mine, he finally found it and said he's really behind and will have it by 4pm the next day. I explained to him my frustration and my long drive from Irvine to continuously be told that it'll be ready a different day so I politely asked for my boots back. I left some heels to be repaired for an upcoming wedding. I asked if there was anyway to rush the order for a fee. They said yes and he told me to call them the day before pickup to ensure they were ready. I called all day- just voicemail. I panicked and bought another pair of shoes but figured I'd leave them so they'd be fixed. I returned 3 weeks later .... They'd never been worked on. When I listed my frustrations, the guy said "it's busy! I'm the only one here!" Ummmm.... Maybe don't take items when you're backlogged or at the very least, be transparent with timeframes. Diaper bag shoulder strap thread failed causing detachment so I attempted to repair here. A year later their thread failed (using bag everyday) which didn't bug me the most.. The blue repair thread on my all-black backpack bugged me most. They fixed it temporarily but not overly fast and not extremely well. We brought in an expensive pair of shoes to have the heel repaired on one of them. He said it would be done the following week. We returned and he was only able to find one of the shoes, but his son was going to help him reorganize everything over the weekend so come back on Monday (yeah right!). I came back on Monday and he couldn't find either one of the shoes, but took my number and would call. (If he takes your number, you're in trouble). Over the next 6 months we came back 9 times. The story was always the same - too busy to look now, but I'll take your number and call you. Finally, we had enough and said we need the shoes NOW. His response "Am I supposed to stop working on other people shoes to look for yours? I'm too busy." He again wrote down my number in is notebook and said he would find them after work and call. I asked him what if you can't find the shoes? He said I'll pay you for them. I said "Can you write that down so I have it in writing when I come back tomorrow" His response - "I can't write"... knowing I just watched him write down my name and phone number. What an @-hole! He then picked some shoes off the shelf and said "Don't worry, these shoes were lost for 2 years and when I found them and called the person, they never picked them up". WTF dude! My advice is stay away from this graveyard of lost shoes. Peek into the back. It's full of shoes that will never be found. I dropped off my boots and was quoted $100 to resole which is high, but a coworker recommended. He charged my coworker a lesser price which should have been the first warning. He tells me it's gonna be a week, but It ended taking 3 and half weeks. I understand people are busy so I don't mind waiting for work if it's good, but that really was the worst part; he literally didn't even bother to clean my boots. No polish, no cleaning, no conditioning. He tried to say he conditioned, but it's very apparent he doesn't take pride in his work and thinks charging $100 for a resole is reasonable. Do NOT use this business. I took two pairs of shoes to be fixed. The owner promised them in a week's time. I went back to get them approximately 10 days later and was told that they weren't ready yet, would take a few more days to be completed, and told me that he would call me that evening to confirm when to get them. I never received a call. I then went back 2 weeks later (thinking that would give him more than enough time). This time he couldn't find my shoes. He searched his shop for 5-10 minutes and had no idea where they were. He told me to come back in 2 days when he had more help and again wrote down my number and told me that he would call me that evening. No call. I went back a week later. He searched the shop for 15 minutes for my shoes and only found them when I miraculously spotted them on a top shelf in the back room. All in all, the repairs were done as I asked but the hassle it took to get my shoes back made it a horrible experience. While the owner is nice, his shop is totally disorganized and he is completely unreliable, making promises he doesn't keep. Save yourself and find another shoe repair shop. read more

I took a small backpack in to have a second zipper-pull put on it. I paid $15.00 and the owner, I'm guessing, told me it would be ready in 2 days! Really? It's a zipper pull, takes 5-10 minutes to do at most. I went back today, 4 days later, and he hadn't even started it. I returned several hours later and was greeted by a "back on 20 minutes" sign on the door. Then, I called around 3:30 to see if it was done. It was not, he told me he needed another half hour. When I went back, there was a jar of old disgusting zipper-pulls that were strewn all over the counter. He was in the back just starting to putting the pull on. The pull is sticky, he tied a crappy little string to it and told me to be careful, because it might break. I will never give this man a another penny. One star is way too generous. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER! The owner "Ricardo" and his unprofessionalism were so extreme, I actually thought I was getting punked! Three months ago, I took four pairs of shoes to Ricardo to get the heels replaced. He told me they would be ready in three weeks. Three weeks later, I returned to pick up my shoes. He said they were not ready, that he had been busy, and for me to come back in two weeks. Instead of two weeks, I returned in three. Again, the shoes were not ready and again he said he had been busy. He told me to return in a few more weeks and promised he would have them ready. Three weeks later, I called to see if the shoes were ready and he told me they would be ready in a few days--"Thursday by 4:00." I returned on Friday, just to be met with the same result (no repaired shoes) and the same excuse. Frustrated at this point, I asked Ricardo to give me back my shoes and I would take them somewhere else. He then said he wasn't going to give me back my shoes because he was too busy to retrieve them. I actually had to threaten to call the police before he relented and went to the back of the store to gather my shoes. It took Ricardo a long time to return to the front of the store and when he did, he, with a straight face, reported he could not locate my shoes, but he would continue to look for them later. WTF? I refused to leave the store until he found my shoes. It took Ricardo a full 90 minutes to find all four pairs, and in the process, I witnessed that man grumble and fuss and toss other customers' shoes around the store like dirty laundry. The lack of respect he demonstrated for other people's property was astounding. Additionally, the establishment itself was a dusty, disorganized mess. At no time did the man demonstrate any contrition. When I asked him if he was going to apologize to me for having strung me along for three months and for having me wait 90 minutes for him to find the shoes that he never repaired, he said, "I have nothing to apologize to you about." I was so taken aback, I actually pulled out my cell phone, clicked on the video, and asked him to repeat what he had just told me. Instead of letting wisdom prevail, that man decided to doubled-down on his nonsense and repeat what he said to me, and even had the audacity to be indignant about it. At no time was I disrespectful to this man--I did not swear, I did not call him names, I did not raise my voice--even though he was disrespectful to me. Undergoing a root canal was less painful than dealing with that man and his incompetence and unprofessionalism. Never again. read more

First of all.... Awful parking lot. I mean horrible. I park in the neighborhood and walk over. I've been here about 5 times in the last 10 years. I've never been fully been satisfied with their work but I come when I don't feel like driving to Cerritos to see the Shoe Wiz. But this will be my last visit. Dropped off a pair of booties and 2 belts on a Friday. I was told they'd be done on Tuesday (3 days) . Went on a Saturday morning and was told a guy called in sick and they were short staffed.... But to come back later that day and they would be done. Well, I had things to do so I didn't go back until next Saturday.... 7 days later. I show up and a woman was asking to get new caps on her heels and protective soles.... He quoted her fifty bucks. Then a man asked for his boots..... The man behind the counter couldn't find them, brought out a pair and asked "are these it?".... Customer said "no". Finally my turn... Gave him my slip and went around looking for my items and he couldn't find the belts... And guess what?? My items were still not done!! It had been 2 weeks!! I just told him to give me my items. He gave me the same story about a guy calling in sick. (other reviewers indicate he's used this excuse before) No apologies. No nothing. Btw he was gonna charge me $25 for my boots and $25 for the belts. The place is a total mess, not organized and not to mention the boots I had resoled last year are already falling apart. read more

I live in the neighborhood and stopped by last Thursday to drop off a pair of Redwings for a wedge sole replacement. I only have one pair of work boots and Ricky offered to help me out by rushing the job. He originally gave me Sat afternoon as a pick up time. I stopped in on Sat afternoon. He runs the shop alone and it had been busy. So, he asked for an extra day or two. No big deal, I picked them up on Tuesday (less than a week after drop off). No complaints from me. Be mindful that each repair is different. How long it takes and what he charges will depend on what needs to be done. I know what I paid was very competitive. I also know that less than a week of turn around time is very fast for a wedge sole replacement. (My normal shop in East LA took almost 2 months to do my last wedge sole). Compared to that, Ricky was very fast and closer to home. It is true, parking can be tough In this strip mall. I still do business with multiple shops here. Marri's Pizza, Ohana Barber, Simone's Donuts and Poor Richard's Pub are all in the same parking lot. read more

When I left my shoes for repair, I was told I would receive a phone call when the replacement soles came in so I could see them and give a go ahead. No such call came. The service did turn out OK, but then when I presented a credit card, he took it back and then came out saying the credit card machine was broken. I did not see him attempt to use the machine. I do not carry much cash, so I could not pay via cash. When I offered a check, he just shook his head and said no and offered no explanation. Credit card signs are displayed at the counter. I had to drive all the way home and come back again. The guy was most probably dodging taxes and lied about the machine being broken. This place is run like a MAD SCIENTIST without the SCIENCE part :0!! Okay... I'm sorry to say this but this place is a "NO". I took my Tory Burch leather sandals here for repair in April because the sole needed to be reglued, and my trusted wonderful Henry's Shoe Repair on Atlantic had tragically closed because the wonderful owners retired. I actually (wise intuition!!) hesitated to leave my expensive $260- sandals in this place because I could see how unclean and uncared-for all the shoes were that were in this place; the shoes in the back waiting for repair were thrown all over every shelf, piled on top of each other carelessly with zero organizational system whatsoever. The customer in front of me was waiting for the man to find her repaired pumps and he couldn't find them anywhere for fifteen minutes and kept asking her what they looked like :0!! Finally she left with her shoes, unhappy. I should have left with her. He told me he would call me in a week when my sandals were repaired; no call for three weeks. I popped in and he said he's been behind "because of Covid" (how would that affect shoe repair ?) and to come in next week and they would be ready. I waited two more weeks, popped in again, and he couldn't find my sandals for about 15 minutes. I said, "You can't miss 'em; they're flat tan Tory Burch size 9 sandals with the huge gold T logo on the top." He obviously has no respect for anyone's shoes if all of our shoes are thrown every which way in huge piles on top of each other in no order whatsoever. Finally he found them!!
