The boats were fweakin kewl as heck 4stars - would smash again. We ordered a bottle of pear sake and it was great to complement our meal. They didn't have tuna belly nigiri which was absolutely okay, our server recommended a Hirame (flounder) alternative and we ended up really enjoying! The boats made for a really exciting dinner experience haha great for date night or girls night

A little gem of Japanese food in Albuquerque! I brought my son for a mother son dinner date, and he was excited! We started with beef udon soup, heartwarming to the stomach! Then we tasted the crunch rolls, California rolls, and salmon sushi... if you sit at the bar, there's little boat platters that sail around the bar to serve you... it's an experience for the whole family!

Our Server was the best! A nice man with gaged ears. Very attentive and knowledgeable. My husband and I got 2 sushi roll's, 2 sashimi's, some sake, a large sampler and edamame!! Everything was amazing!! We sat at the sushi bar with little wooden boats that floated around the bar! It was so cool! The food was delivered via the wooden boats. Very unique and fun! Loved the atmosphere and the helpful staff! Definitely will be returning.

I am a native Burqueno and, I have been living near the Nob Hill area for the past 10 years or so. Not to mention I frequent most of the eateries in the area! I have to admit I barely made my first visit to Shogun not too long ago. I love sushi, so I have no excuse as to why it has take me so long to try it. My boyfriend actually picked it for a Friday night dinner. The place is small, but super cute with the island that the sushi chefs are all secluded in, catering to our sushi needs. They're surrounded by a moat of sushi boats! I loved it! Obviously, large rolls and things don't sit atop the boats. They did send our pickled ginger and wasabi on it, along with my order of salmon sashimi! I was thrilled! My salmon was also very prettily shaped into a flower. They were winning with me, that's for sure. I don't normally stray from the classic sort of rolls, but I saw their Flaming Crunch Roll on the menu and had to have it. I am obsessed with Flaming Hot Cheetos and I thought what better way to combine two foods I love. Why not, when in Rome right? It hit the spot for me. I really enjoyed myself here. It may seem like a fairly simple and possibly corny set up with the stream of sushi boats, but I found it to be quite entertaining! What I had was delicious and I look forward to coming back to try more.

    Best sushi in town!!!!

On this #thank you Thursday I'd like to highlight one of the best dining experiences I had in Albuquerque! The service was accommodating and they made room for us in the back! It's so cool to watch everyone's sushi being made and it going out knowing the little boats. This was also the first time I got to try uni and it was the best sushi I have ever had to this day! I am an uni lover for life! It was an amazing tine spent with friends and I still look back on it fondly! It's such a unique spot and it's located on central. The restaurant is quaint and the sushi boat seating is spacious. I hope you all have a chance to check out this amazing place in abq!

Absolutely amazing sushi. It's a small restaurant with a general table seating area on one side and a sushi bar conveyor belt style on the other side. The service was quick and friendly and the sushi was phenomenal. The fish was extremely fresh and flavorful and it is one of the only places in town that has real wasabi if you ask for it. The sushi prices were comparable to most places in town but the quality is much higher here.

The rolls are good! Service is very warm. Ambiance is about traveling back in time and wondering the history of this restaurant and everyone who works here.....

A cozy small Japanese restaurant in Nob Hill. Since I'm from Japan, I'm picky when it comes to sushi so it's not my favorite place, but I think it was alright. The boat thing is the closest thing to a conveyor belt sushi we have in abq. Lol. The scallops tasted good. The volcano roll was alright, kind of heavy but it has cream cheese, so not surprising. The server was very nice. If someone invites me, I'll go again.

It is not the biggest restaurant, and is popular, so I would recommend being prepared to wait during "popular busy time" but it is so worth the wait. So I also recommend waiting. The staff is always pretty friendly and accommodating. I shared an app, a roll and an order of salmon sashimi with a friend on both visits. The food is always fresh, and delicious! I never feel like I am being overcharged for what I get either. Going to eat for sushi can feel like that sometimes. The quality of the food is great and everything is always aesthetically pleasing as well. I had their avocado bomb on my last visit and I was delightfully surprised with it. I like avocado in most cases, but sometimes, it can be a lot at one. I thought this was going to be like that when I saw it, but I was wrong. I look forward to getting one of these on my next visit! On my last visit my friend and I saved room for a dessert, one that we saw rotating on their screens that they have in the restaurant showcasing some of the menu items. It was a take on a bananas foster. It looked delicious but alas, we'll see if we can manage to get it next time. Note to self, have dessert first on next visit?

That's why Sakura Sushi & Grill stood out right away. They clearly label gluten-free options on the menu. They also offer gluten-free soy sauce, which is a huge win. Even better, they have lunch specials with gluten-free options, which is rare. It's located in Riverside Plaza in Albuquerque, just past the river on the west side. I ordered the Sushi Lunch A with premium fish and chose the double salmon roll. Everything was incredibly fresh and delicious, and the portions were great for the price. The miso soup that comes with lunch isn't gluten-free, but they brought me a side salad with an amazing gluten-free dressing instead. I felt confident eating here, which is not something I say often. I didn't have any reaction afterward and would absolutely eat here again. One of the coolest surprises: they make their own wasabi in-house. It's not on the menu, but if you ask, they'll bring it out, and it is absolutely worth it. We considered getting a sushi boat, but the lunch specials were a better value for lunch. If we went for dinner, we would absolutely order a boat. I also had hot sake, which paired perfectly with the meal. At the end, they even brought us a sweet cinnamon tea for my friend's birthday, even though we didn't order dessert. Service was warm and attentive the entire time. My friend has a shellfish allergy, and the server made sure her plate only included fin fish, which we really appreciated. We went around 1:30 p.m. on a Tuesday, and it was quiet with only a few other tables. The atmosphere felt calm and relaxed, with a casual, comfortable vibe that made it easy to sit and actually enjoy a conversation without feeling rushed. They close at 3 and reopen for dinner, so it's a great low-key lunch spot if you time it right. My friend also mentioned she brings her young kids here often, and the woman manager or owner is especially kind and welcoming to them. I enjoyed this place so much that I called my husband on the way home to tell him all about it. We're already planning to go back with our kids, which will make this my second visit in one week. If you're gluten-free, this place is a gem. And even if you're not, the quality, service, and overall experience make it absolutely worth a visit.

We ordered 2 orders of Chicken Katsu appetizers, 6 Piece Gyoza, Kastu Donburi, & Beef Nagomi Ramen. For the chicken katsu appetizers we asked if it came with rice which we wanted them to, and the lady said they did. It was disappointing upon arrival at home and there was no rice included. We had to cook rice at home instead. The katsu pieces were crispy and the little one liked it, so that was good. Not a fan of the sauce it came with, though. 6 pc gyoza was good. We liked the sauce it came with as it was flavorful. Would reorder in the future. Katsu Donburi bowl was good. Would recommend and portion was just right. Nagomi Ramen - we asked for beef, but it looked like it was pork instead. It was pretty bland, which was disappointing. So maybe will get it spicy next time if we order again. Great portion size.
