I first heard of Shooby's after a Yelp event on Father's Day. I was craving that OG chicken sandwich for days that I caved and made a trip to Camarillo a few days later on an extended lunch break. Of course I got that OG chicken sandwich again and an order of regular fries. The chicken sandwich is top notch for me. It's a real chicken breast that is juicy and tender. It's not mashed up chicken rib meat like other chicken fast food places. That is why this particular one so much; it's thick! The secret sauce is a nice flavor. I also tried the garlic aioli so if you wanted to skip the secret sauce, try the garlic aioli! The fries were honestly not my favorite to experience. They were a bit too crispy all the way through for my liking. I like fries that have a slight crispy outside but soft on the inside and this missed the mark. But this place still deserves a 5 because the staff is super friendly and helpful, food is piping hot when it reaches you and it's made fresh. read more

This is my very first Yelp Elite event! Huraaayy. The weather is perfect, summer, ocean breeze and we are on our way to base at Point Mugu bc our doggos are allowed on leash. Stopped by Shoobys for a lunch in the lil cozy downtown area and bc the hubby loves all things chicken. Let's starts with the outdoor patio: it's perfectly inviting for families and doggos. Large, extended, and long wooden benches does the trick. The menu is straight-forward and simple and the price point is affordable. Which always helps with today's gas prices. The band was playing, Last Dance with Mary Jane, always a good jam! And I had the fries and iced tea: I'm in a swimsuit surfing for work. So I keep it simple. But would love a vege burger on the menu, if possible! The hubby loved the chicken wrap and next time we are trying the cookie butter milkshake, which was recommended! The owner LJ was wonderful thorough in his explanations of all things sourced organically, which you Can taste, and is always appreciated. The fabulous employee who greeted us fid so with genuine enthusiasm and a fabulous smile. I gave her a $1 tip right away. I ordered the Crispy Chicken Ceasar Wrap. I lovingly shared it with my adult daughter. Yes, the portion was big enough to split.. However, I could have continued eating this perfectly crunchy chicken that was perfectly seasoned. The romaine lettuce, parmesan shavings, and bits of onion added to this flavorful yummy lunch. I didn't need the side of caesar dressing as it was perfectly doused with the dressing. Had the pancake chicken tenders, shoobys burger and loaded fries. Talking to the owner whom you can feel the pride in his business, by his tone, facial expression and the sharing of exceptional details that make shoobys different than other restaurants. He is very friendly great eye contact, knowledgeable, attractive and kind. No corners are cut here. The food.. the pancake chicken tenders you can tell they are real chicken tenders from the bone,, the unique shape and not at all processed. The pancake coating leaves an enjoyable sweetness and a distinct crunch. The chicken is not dry and I wished I had more. The burger.. You need to sit down.. You ready? This is a smash burger, not the name but the real deal!The edges of the burger all crispy but thin patty is not dry. The caramelized onions, yes please!!! They make their own pickles in house.. that is work and it is worth the details of flavor. Why have calcium sorbinate when you can have fresh pickles? Total winner. I was sad that I finished it, but I can always order another. Loaded fries.. The potatoes are cut in house and blanched, so the result is sturdy fry and damn good. I've eaten here twice now, and the chicken Caesar wrap just hits!! I am a big Caesar wrap fan, but most places only offer grilled chicken. So you can imagine my delight when I saw that Shooby's has a go-to one on their menu made with their deliciously crispy chicken. But not only that, you can smell the amazing smash burgers as soon as you walk in. I have yet to try them but I know that I'll be in for a treat there, too. My boyfriend has gotten their regular crispy chicken sandwich a few times now which is quite good as well. Besides the food, the staff here has been great too. Kind workers and attentive, keeping the place clean and customers taken care of. While I admit I was sad to see this Fredas location go, I am very happy with Shooby's taking over! read more

Stopped by for dinner and found it to be a solid, no frills spot. I ended up getting the chicken sandwich with fries and thought it was pretty good. It was a little on the small side for the price, but honestly that's pretty standard these days compared to a lot of other burger spots. My order took a little while to come out, but nothing unreasonable. Nothing really blew me away, but I've definitely had worse. The setup is kind of interesting, it feels a bit like a food court with a beer bar and ice cream shop sharing the same space. They also have plenty of TVs around if you're looking for somewhere to catch a game while you eat. I am a fan! I love this juicy scrumptious chicken! It's hard to pick but I think my favorite is the chicken sandwich. The crunchy outside with that Ceaser dressing is so good! Don't skip on the side of Chipotle sauce! Ashanti was so helpful suggesting the strawberry shake that was delicious and her energy is on point. My day got better just talking to her. Food: Smash style Burger was mediocre as far as taste factor and I had to request to add lettuce to make it comparable to the usual In N out full fixe'n the like. It was nice to know that I asked and was granted a pepper jack cheese option rather than American yellow cheese.$11 The Fries were good in their version of "Animal Style" with grilled onions and 1000-Island dressing on top with American cheese. I was hesitant to try this place because I really loved the pizza place so it was a bit bummed . However, I decided to give it a shot. I am glad I did! The OG Chicken sandwich was EXCELLENT. It has to be the best sandwich ever. I truly thought it was something you could get at a fine dining establishment. The service was pretty good and the area was clean and easy to find a table to eat. Shooby's opened this week in Camarillo at the Mark and I was super excited to see what this place was all about. The menu is straightforward with burgers, chicken strips, chicken sandwiches and different variation of fries. Honestly, everything looked good but a burger and fries were calling my name. A+ for hospitality because everyone was so friendly and staff member Shanee was an absolute vibe! We talked book clubs, burgers, and dragon tattoos....who doesn't love making new friends during our foodie adventures!? OK now onto the food...what you really came here for...here's what I got: Classic Shooby Burger: two beef patties, American cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion and aioli (I added ketchup too). This is a bold statement to make but THIS WAS THE BEST BURGER I'VE HAD IN CAMARILLO YET. 10/10. The char on the burger was insane and it was so flavorful. It's made smashburger style and was seriously delicious. For such a simple burger in theory, it was phenomenal and I can't stop thinking about it...please go try this! Shooby Fries: bomb crispy fresh french fries topped with a special sauce, cheese, and grilled onions. These were so good and held up really well with all the toppings, no soggy fries here! Another must order dish. 10/10. The spot is new, but once word gets out, I know it's going to be super popular. I know some people were skeptical about another burger spot coming to town, but this one is THE spot. Trust me. Came here for lunch and it was quite busy. Waited awhile for the food, but I can understand why. The food is cooked fresh so I can appreciate the effort. The person taking our order was really friendly as well. Tried the Shooby and the classic with a side of fries. My son liked the Shooby and I thought mine was good, but the meat was a little bit salty and I didn't care for the special sauce or raw onion. Didn't work for me, next time I would do it differently. The fries were fresh and hand made it seemed like. Kind of reminds me of in and out fries, but bigger and a little less cardboard flavor, lol. We sat outside and it was a lovely day so all together it was a nice time. I do feel like it is a tad over priced for what you get however. read more

Service is quick, much quicker than Freda's. Price is about what you'd expect for the size of the burger with today's inflation. The ambiance remains a brewery, ice cream shop, and then this eatery under apartments in this mixed-use old town area. However the food is, well, good for those who are drinking beer that want a greasy burger I guess. We had the classic Shooby and the regular Shooby with regular fries. The classic Shooby had cheese, lettuce, special sauce, tomato and onion. While the regular Shooby just has grilled onions, special sauce and cheese. Everything tasted a bit salty, while the burgers tasted a bit oniony and gritty even without the onions. The fries were bland, but ranch made them taste better. Nothing was terrible, but nothing was worth coming back for. If I were drinking at Topa Topa with friends I'd have a burger here but that's about the only way I'd come back. First time in since they recently opened and had a great experience. The staff was immediately helpful answering questions. We went with a Lil Shooby (kids), The Shooby, a Fried Chicken Sandwich, and fries. Once the food arrived the owner came out shortly after to check in. He took one look at the fried chicken sandwich and offered to get a new one as he said it looked a little over done and the Parmesan dressing lettuce topping was too wet. We said it was good but some minutes later he came back with a new one saying he has to make sure we were given the best experience. He truly cared about our meal. My wife loves a good smash burger and I saw earlier on social media Shooby's had opened in Camarillo recently. Jumped on Yelp to look at reviews and it was a mixed bag, but more good than bad reviews. It's always best to make your own opinion on an establishment and not get discouraged by others, especially when there are more good reviews than bad. Great location in Old Town Camarillo, Shooby's shares space with a creamery and Topa Topa Brewing so it's like a food court, so if you want to enjoy a cold brew at Topa Topa you can sit there and enjoy your smash burger as well. Simple design with tables inside as well as outside for Al Fresco dining. Staff was friendly taking the order, while several people cooking and preparing with one person delivering orders to the tables, that means inside their dining room, outside dining area and at tables in Topa Topa. Didn't wait long at all for our order and everything came out hot and very tasty. Smash Burgers were delicious, great flavor and seasoning. Fries were medium cut and very good, we shared an order and it was plenty. Loved the house made pickles served with the burgers, on the side. Reasonably priced and recently opened so give them time to decorate, their priority is to put out good food. Style it up on your slow or off time, it takes time people to make the place their own. Great concept sharing with a brewery and creamery offering something for everyone. We now have a local brick and mortar location for smash burgers and Shooby's delivers the goods. First & foremost - I understand this is a new business & there will be kinks that need to be sorted out as time goes on... however, you should've known what you signed up for when you open up in a location that has high traffic. With that being said, I was very disappointed with our experience at Shoobys. We came on a Friday night during dinner time, obviously there was going to be a rush. We waited over an hour for our food. An hour for a burger & fries is crazy. Once we got our food, the servers were not nice. I tried giving them grace because it was rush hour & they're overwhelmed but just placing the food trays in front of us without saying anything doesn't really say come back again. On top of the service & wait, the food was not good. The best part was the cookies n cream milkshake, but it wasn't anything out of the ordinary & it was something you could've ordered from a fast food. The burger was too oily & too salty & the fries too hard to chew, as if it's been sitting out for awhile. I loveeeee me a smash burger & I was looking forward to coming here. A new addition to The Mark has arrived. Taking Freda's spot, is this fast casual spot. Stopped in for lunch. The staff were so friendly. The menu is pretty simple with burgers, chicken sandos, one salad and a wrap. And milkshakes! I enjoyed the chicken salad. It was tasty with delicious fried chicken. The size was quite large. My family and I wanted to try something new in Camarillo tonight so we gave Shoobys a try. Menu is somewhat limited...couple different burger options, 2-3 fried chicken sandwich options and a few different versions of fries. I'd never had smash-burgers before tonight, and I don't think I'll seek them out in the future. You order before sitting down and the girl taking the order is awesome. Great personality and great way to start off. I got the classic with bacon, my wife had the Oklahoma, my older son had the chicken strips and my youngest got the lil shooby. None of us really enjoyed our choices. The beef 'patties' were paper thin, falling apart and were second to the lettuce and tomato which isn't what you want when you order a burger. I asked for bacon on mine and it wasn't fresh or even warm, furthering the low rating. My wife's Oklahoma was 'blah', again 'patty' was underwhelming...chicken strips were 'eh' and my youngest wouldn't even touch the meat because it looked weird. For the positives, the girl taking the order has an awesome personality and makes you feel right at home at the counter, the pickles they give you appear house made and are great, the hand cut fires were good and the cookies n cream milkshake was UNREAL! We tried Shooby's for the first time after seeing it all over social media. The smash burgers were delicious, and I loved that each burger came with two thin, crispy patties. If you're a fan of caramelized onions, this is the place for you. I ordered the Shooby Burger as it comes, even though caramelized onions aren't usually my favorite. They added a sweeter flavor to the burger and had a jammy texture. The garlic aioli paired perfectly with the plain fries. I'll start this with maybe I ordered the wrong thing. My wife and I split a Crispy Chicken Caesar Wrap and fries, but it was nothing I'd come back for. Hardly any chicken in it (refer to the photo) and it was a bit lackluster. The Caesar dressing was good, but not enough to save the dish. The fries were all the worst parts about in-n-out fries, they were okay when hot, but 2 minutes later they turned into dry cardboard. For all those leaving bad reviews, shame on you. Shooby's had a silent opening, which means, they never announced they were opening, it just happened with word of mouth. They are still working out the kinks. Instead of giving it some time, most of you chose to slam them. Their menu is simple, good food. Fresh and to the point. Instead of letting management know, you choose to post it on yelp. It's not like they announced their "Grand Opening" and things weren't up to par. This was a "silent" opening. About a month ago I had one of the best Caesar salad wraps I'd ever had there. Fried chicken, and fresh salad wrapped in a tortilla. Tonight, I ordered the same thing, and it was edible, but not good. The chicken was very salty, the lettuce wasn't crisp and fresh, and the Caesar dressing tasted off. My kids also got the same thing they had gotten previously, and they said all the chicken was too salty.
