Amazingly cheap sushi! Not the best stuff I ever had at a grocery store, but for $5, I can't in good conscience complain. + Deli, meat, and seafood all have a wide selection also. + Everything was well stocked, and the produce was peak fresh. + Prices seemed reasonable. While a half gallon of milk might be cheaper at Aldi/Target/Walmart, nothing was eyebrow raising, either. + All staff I've interacted with have been kind and pleasant. I've just read all the one star reviews and have no idea where those folks have actually been shopping, it can't be here. Produce is fresh and priced lower than any surrounding groceries. I buy salmon here frequently, if it doesn't look right, I don't buy it, but I buy it all the time. We don't eat a lot of meat but when I prepare meat from Shop & Save it is very good. I've purchased a few cakes and pies over the years with no regrets. Their fresh baked breads are good. I can shop for many things elsewhere for a better price.. and I do, but Shop & Save is where I shop most of the time . read more

I was in the neighborhood to drive my mother-in-law to a doctor's appointment. I stopped in to pickup a few things. The east entrance is closed and you must walk to the west entrance (not a huge walk) which explains why all of the parking on the west side of the lot is taken. Since everyone is going through the one entrance you will be greeted by a huge hot bar. There is a soup station with 6 - 8 different soups or stews. There is a pizza oven too. The hot foods are 30 feet long, it is absolutely HUGE. Large variety of items from Polish and Mexican favorites to American staples. There is a seating area with ten tables if you choose to eat there and additional outdoor seating. Right next to that is the equally huge deli. This includes European specialties like kishka, Ukrainian ham, veal sausage, rib bacon, imported and domestic cheese, just to name a few. They have an extensive produce section and their florist had very reasonably priced options. The bakery is also of note with European cookies by the pound. My brother came back with me and made note "they have a wide variety of products but not a lot of any one product." If you are looking to stock up on one particular product you might need to speak to someone. I saw a couple of reviews that the staff were rude; that was not my experience at all. All of the staff was helpful and willing to be of assistance. There was no lines at the checkouts as they had five cashiers open. read more

moved here in October of 2024. This store is actually walking distance from my house. I go to Jewels for the sales but this is my everyday store. Does everybody speak great English? who cares? I've had service at the deli, fruits and veggies, their yummy bakery, the meat and seafood counter and on the floor. Cheap groceries but quality groceries. It has a European theme and vibe. Prices are decent and is similar to jewel, although I feel the sales at jewel, especially the digital coupon deals, are better. They sell packaged sushi there too. Food items have an international spin to it with more dedicated aisles than you would find at your normal chain stores. Definitely check this place out if you're into the European food items, but as for the fruits and vegetables, I didn't catch anything that would make me exclusively come here Bathroom review: one of the worst bathrooms I've been at. Reminds me of a subway bathroom. A little latch to lock the door, let's hope no one tries to open it while you poop. Two slabs of baby back ribs never should've been sold to a biological consumer never should been on the shelf . $35.00 they should be sued for selling rancid meat.. And the service at the front counter seems to have labor slowdowns on consumers. We are blessed to have several local ethnic grocery chains filling in the gaps neglected by the larger chains. "Sop & Shave," as I affectionately call this store, occupies a strip mall storefront where Dominick's once held sway. Their main focus is on foodstuffs for the Polish-American community, but the exceptional variety here extends through Eastern Europe and far beyond. Just inside the entrance is a 'store within the store' that sells prepared foods. A large self-service hot bar offers an impressive array of roasted, stewed, and fried meats and sides (plastic gloves and hand sanitizer are provided). There is also a separate pierogi bar, a hot soup bar, and a service counter with additional prepared foods. Items are sold by the pound and lunch specials feature one or two entrees plus two sides. These items have to be paid for at the service counter. There can be long lines plus a language barrier. Just be patient, smile, and say "Proszę" and "Dziękuję Ci!" Whoa, we've barely scratched the surface. Adjacent refrigerated shelves are laden with a mind-boggling variety of soups, prepared deli salads, and ready-to-reheat meals. Some of these items rotate or change seasonally. And then there's a deli service counter that stretches almost the entire length of the store with mouth-watering displays of salads, prepared foods, sides, meats, and cheeses. Exotic-looking sausages hang from strings behind the counter. Turn around and you'll spot yet another service counter where they prepare that traditional Polish favorite--sushi--along with overstuffed sandwiches, wraps, stromboli, and entrée salads. This borders a vast selection of fresh and reasonably-priced produce. At the other end of the produce department is a bakery section that puts other in-house grocery bakeries to shame with an amazing selection of artisanal breads, rolls, cookies, cakes, pies and pastries. The meat and seafood service counters and well-stocked cases at the far end of the store offer good value and quality. The dairy selection is above average but the frozen food aisle is pretty basic. Although the rest of the grocery aisles do not offer the same variety as the big chains, they do feature some hard-to-find ethnic products. There are also liquor and floral departments but no pharmacy (there's a Walgreens next door). Clearly the "fresh" departments are the main reason to shop here. The prepared foods we've tried, particularly the soups, are hearty, filling, and absolutely delicious. The fork-tender and slightly smoky brisket of beef on the hot bar is to die for. Those who seek packaged items that are organic, keto-friendly, gluten-free, etc. will probably be disappointed here. read more

Shop & Save is similar to Fresh Farms, in that, they have a lot of Eastern European stuff and Polish food. They don't have the international selection like Fresh Farms but they have an above average chocolate selection. The fruits and vegetables are really fresh and recently, we've enjoyed their pre-cooked meals to go. I don't know why it's taken me so long to write a review but their bourbon ribs really compelled me to write this one. The meals are priced very fairly and I consider it a good value for my money. One more thing - I do like their Eastern European beer selection, in particular, the beers from Poland. This place is convenient to I-90 and Superdawgs, so I do find myself stopping in here with regularity. read more

This review is for the bakery here only.  A knowledgeable Polish local shared with us a while back that she always gets her family celebration cakes from the bakery at this Shop & Save.  Wanna know where it is? - right across Milwaukee St. from Superdawg Drive-In, woohoo!  I raved about the numerous and excellent European cakes we have gotten from nearby and renowned Oak Mill Bakery, which she knew about, but she found the Shop & Save cakes were "just as good" but more economical.  Being intrigued we knew we would have to check this bakery out one day.  Well, that day has now come and we picked up a $7.99 rectangular cut of their ambrosia cake, a favorite we have gotten numerous times from Oak Mill.  A 6" ambrosia cake goes for $21.99 here, and at Oak Mill, it's $24.95 for what that's worth.  S&S's ambrosia was quite good even after overnight refrigeration.  I would say at the relative prices, you basically get about what you pay for, which makes S&S's ambrosia a pretty decent cake, but maybe not as tip-top moist and good as Oak Mill from this sampling. We also tried their plum cake pastry which is second most popular behind apple cake, as we wanted to try something just a little different.  It was good, but basically chain bakery good.  It wasn't like 5 star good.  I was impressed though with the selection and attractive presentation of the products here.  I honestly can't compare fairly to other chain bakeries as I really haven't paid that close attention, but will do more in the future so I can rate where this bakery really stands.  So far, it looks like a solid 4 stars to me. read more

HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!! I have been shopping here for almost 3 years now, I live a few blocks away. Today I purchased a bag ( not box ) of cereal, and when i got home i noticed a hole with little teeth marks obviously made by a mouse. I called the store and asked for a manager. I spoke to a very very rude hispanic man named George, who denied my complaint. He didnt he grant me the courtesy of a refund or exchange. I told him I dont care about the $4.36 bag of cereal, The real issue is you have a mouse in your store. He then told me to " go and tell the president". Everything smells and tastes like cleaning solvents. We purchased pastries and cakes. It was just impossible to eat them, it was like eating the cleaning solent that they are using on the floors. So, anything that is open in the air it gets contaminated by the cleaning solvent. read more

Produce is not bad it's really hit or miss, but the price is always good! Very neat as well , you will never find it messy ! I really like their meat department good quality for an excellent price! "Shop & Save Market" is a neighborhood grocery store located in Norwood Park, diagonally across from that famous "Super Dawg." I believe my goal of "shop" was accomplished, but how about "save?" I have to say that savings here may not be as significant as other competitors can offer. Nevertheless, the items they sell at S&SM is pretty solid, with products imported from Poland and Eastern European countries as their primary focuses. Rosa J. loves herring fish, so she went straight to the smoked/pickled fish section and picked up a can that was on sale for the week. Grocery shopping for me is like playing a video game. Traps and temptations are everywhere to get cha! Other than the sushi station by the fresh produce department, the chef's homemade dinner counter almost had me owned. The sensible Rosa J. realized that the price wasn't that wonderful (average $15 per entree), and she could have one of those at a restaurant. Stay vigilant, girly! Don't defeat the purpose of grocery-shopping. I quickly peeked through the meat and seafood departments. Everything was clean, nearly-merchandised, and fresh. I was able to shop here peacefully since the store wasn't busy at approximately 1100 hour on a Friday. The store was fully-staffed and my groceries were bagged in a timely manner as I was paying. Parking is available on the strip-mall lot. If you're fond of utilizing public transportation, #86 (Narragansett/Ridgeland) bus is available and the nearest stop is Nagle/Milwaukee. read more

After much todo and months of waiting the big Grand Opening finally happened. (Several months ago) Like most stores upon opening they had some great deals, but the prices quickly returned to normal retail prices. You can still get some good deals, but you have to know your prices. In general Shop & Save isn't my go to store unless there are specific items I need that are on sale. They do have whole salmon for $3.99/lb right now (11/14/15), but their prices are middle of the road. They have a deli as you walk in, but it's a poor example of displaying the foods. They don't look that appetizing the way it's presented although I have never had the want or need to buy their prepared foods with the cornucopia of options available in Chicago & Chicagoland suburbs (sorry Shop & Save). Really mixed feelings here, more of a 3.5. Most of the store still warrants a five star rating, a good selection of European goods and friendly staff. So why the drop? It all comes down to what is important to me. The last few visits out here I've notice a drop in the amount of offerings and quality of the produce department. For instance, no fingerling potatoes? What! This isn't exotic, then I thought I'll substitute with small potatoes, at first couldn't find any of those either, then when I did I may as well not have. They were in a little package, about a dozen of them for 1.99 and they looked sad. I had to take a pass. I then found some medium sized reds and they looked a little better, but they were getting a little soft. Sorry, but when I'm buying something I don't want it to look like something I forgot in my kitchen where I end up saying to myself, "this gets cooked tonight or thrown out." I'll still stop by for some of the things I can't get elsewhere, but as a total grocery trip, that's off the table. read more

Be aware and check prices at the register as they usually up-charge you on different items! At the deli make sure the workers uses correct code as often I was up-charge like 2 or 3 dollars. As well check the prices when you purchase yogurts often they are misplaced! Today I was dealing with Magda who works at the customer service - I told her one of the yogurt I want it to purchase it was place right in front of the price of $1.79 however at the register it was coming up $2.29- (this is not the first time! ) She went to check and informed that's the yogurt next to it it was 1.79 well I told her it's the employee responsibly to make sure the product are place correctly! Went after work on Friday the21 at 5:30 to do quick grocery shopping. Bought few things and feta cheese cost me $14. 53 instead of $ 3.49 . One of the young lady supervisor took care of me. Smoked pork done right! Checked in here, and took a picture of the smoked pork. It's excellent! It's also excellent the next day warmed up! If you want some I recommend showing up before dinner time or it will be gone. Haven't tried any of the other food in the deli but a lot looks good. read more

Sign said extra large eggs for $1.19 until Dec 31, 2019. I went back 2 days later the sign was changed to $1.49. Are you taking a picture of the sign so I would not forget to go back to shop and save and buy more eggs. When I showed the sign to the customer service person she said all the sign say December 31, 2019 but the sales don't last that long and they change them every day. They would not honor the $1.19 sale price even though the picture was on my phone. It wasn't even the end of the sale week which really ends on Tuesday. Will not go back there for a long time. Have been shopping at this store for approx 5 years and have seen some changes good and bad. I will give 5 stars for the pre-prepared foods which are spot on and made with the old European quality which makes it exceptional IMO. However, some of the staff are sometimes a bit un-professional when making inquiries. Many times have asked about items in their flyer on the 2nd day after posting and it is either out of stock or the truck will be arriving tomorrow type responses. I will also say the bakery, deli and produce is usually fresh and not out of date compared to other places I have shopped. They have good varieties, however I have seen the cheese section priced on the high side. I will continue shopping here as it is my go to for their delicious prepared foods as soon as you walk in the front entrance. Much better than Whole Foods, that is for sure. read more

I love this store. The produce section is excellent with good selection and awesome prices. The deli has Boar's Head (my favorite) and a great selection of international meats and cheeses. The staff is largely polish because of the neighborhood so there are a lot of unique food options. Even my toddler loves it because they always give him a free lollipop at check out. Super secret: they have amazing prices on flower bouquets. I don't know why but you can get 18 gorgeous roses for $6 when they are marked $34! read more

Shop And Save Market is just a typical grocery store. It was clean, organized and well-stocked. I actually do not go here that much but the store is nice. It just basically has the ordinary grocery stores had like, fresh veggies, goo quality meats, and other basic items I needed in my groceries. The good thing in here is that they have Italian and Polish items which is really nice that comes with fair and reasonable price. Their bakery section is also longer and has many choices compared to the others and it is full freshly baked and delicious goodies. The pre-made food looked to be excellent along with the deli and bakery counters. Some common items were very highly priced but overall there is much i would buy there. My complaint and turn off to this store, was that our checker had very long hair and every item she scanned touched her hair as it was not tied back, but falling forward each time she moved. She kept grabbing it and putting it over her shoulder to fall forward on our food items. I was thoroughly grossed out by this and can't believe a grocery store doesn't have hygiene policies for their employees. There were other checkers that had long unkept hair as well. Do not buy their "homemade" sausage. I bought mild italian sausage from their butcher shop and it was not mild and definitely not italian in any way. It may have been chorizo or something else - it was horrible. I like sausage - all types - this was the worst have ever had.
