This is my least favorite location. I was in ShopRite last week and there was a young couple with a 50 or 60 lb dog in there shopping cart, this was not a "assistance" dog, it was just their puppy. The dog then threw up in the cart which fell onto the floor. The young couple did not notice this, but I pointed it out to them, the young man stayed with the cart and the young woman went to find paper towel to clean up the mess. Dogs should not be allowed in a cart where food is placed. I now wipe down all of the food packages/containers that I purchase once I get it home, before placing it into the refrigerator or cabinets. Unfortunately some people are allergic to pets, and this c9ould be a huge problem. The ShopRite in Lodi is much nicer, cleaner, larger and the shelves are always fully stocked. read more

This is my first and last visit to this ShopRite: *Came in on a Saturday at 11am and the shelves are empty, especially the weekly sales items. *They haven't restocked adequately in any dept. *The floor staff, including the online shopping staff, can't help a customer find items in the store- they don't know their stock! *I had to visit customer service for rain checks on 6 different items. * found posted sales prices were incorrect on 3 different items * Best thing about this shoprite is their empty parking lot, which should have tipped me off. *Don't waste your time shop somewhere else. read more

This ShopRite is the pits! They never have what you really want when you really need it! Their "Rotisserie" chicken is a joke! It's NOT done on a rotisserie, it's just in an oven and usually over and dry! Their leftovers that they ov roasted er price at night are also usually dry, o ver done and just plain unappet cooked izing! The cashiers are slow as molasses! Shopping there is drudgery. read more

The LaGuardia Airport of Supermarkets. Old, dated, and items are rarely in stock on time for the Sunday deals. I also haven't gotten any decent meat from the Butcher department either. I go there to do my couponing and each and every time there is an issue with the items not being available, the cashiers not knowing what to do with the coupons and the front end managers making up rules for the coupons as they go. I usually wind up just checking out and calling the 1-800-SHOPRITE customer service number for the savings to be refunded to my Price Plus Card. I go there only when I am short on time and need an item or 2, otherwise I just take the ride to Wallington. read more

Always shopping here. Good store. A lot of selection . The fruits and vegetables are fresh, some times better than other times but overall happy with the quality of fruits and veggies. The rates are average. read more

I just moved in that area and I always love Shoprite in Lydhurst, Wallington and Lodi location. I believe this Shop-Rite is the oldest store in the world. It stinks, super dirty and the food section they cook daily seems very old, dried out and dirty... and their sections in general doe not make any sense. I had to walk through the store to find WATER section and I was not able to, and I realized their sections are all mixed, next to vegetables, holiday cards, then after 1 aisle food next one is sanitary products, next to frozen foods, bleaches and dairy... I don't think I will ever come to this location again even though it is closest it is worth to drive 15 minutes to go another one. THEY NEED RENOVATION!!! you can find many clean, neat stores around, do not waste your time and risk your health going to this location. read more

I was looking for vidalia onions. They had a sign for vidalia onions for 99¢ but I did not see any. I asked a short Sandy haired man Wearing ShopRite clothes. He said "thees " as he pointed to onions from Peru. After going over and over I took the sign for vidalia onions and showed him that I want Vidalia onions. He started yelling at me insisting it is Vidalia. I went to the manager and she doesn't know the difference either. They are selling Peru onions as Vidalia. They are committing a fraud. It's shop rite, it is what it is. Prices are very fair, produce selection is mostly decent, and the layout is straightforward. Checkout lines are usually pretty quick. Been coming here for years. Fresh seafood selection is limited and I have gotten bad fish from here on 2 occasions, but they've always been accommodating with replacing it. It's convenient for me and they carry all my usual items at a good price so I'll continue to go to this location. read more

This is close to my house so location-wise, it's convenient. A few of the cashiers are friendly and polite, the food is basically okay, prices are so-so, aisles are organized but the Shop Rite in Paramus (across from Bergen Towne Center) is much, much better, with better sales, more lines open and friendlier customer service. The 1 star for this Shop Rite (Hackensack) is because of the nasty courtesy desk. I once wrote a detailed letter to the executive office with cc to Shop Rite Hackensack store manager and got absolutely no response. The courtesy desk employees here are rude, abrupt and defensive and even if you're the only one in line you still have to wait while they fiddle with the various computers, calculators and paperwork behind the desk. While waiting my turn, an employee glanced up at me and said "I'll be right with you!", but her tone of voice was, "Don't you DARE cross me! I'm having a really messed up day here!" I looked over my shoulder and wondered who she was speaking to, as I hadn't said anything and my face bore a blank expression. I have also gotten severe attitude when trying to return items. In a separate incident, while at the deli case there was an employee stocking items. I handed her 3 containers of hummus and pointed out they had expiration dates over 2 weeks old-- didn't she notice this? Do customers have to do her job? On this same shopping trip I also found some nice things on the clearance cart-- an even sweeter deal as I happened to have coupons for same items--but on ringing them up I was informed coupons could not be used on clearance items (why? because they said so, and referred to a "sign" stating the same policy, which I could not locate anywhere in the store). How disappointing when I thought I'd found the deal of the century. On weekends, this Shop Rite often has young people in front of the store holding donation containers, soliciting money for their baseball or soccer teams, or some other obscure cause. Who knows if these are valid charities or teams?, and when I don't throw a dollar in their plastic container, invariably one of the solicitors calls out a sarcastic "Thank you! Have a nice day!" when it's crystal clear she doesn't give a crap whether or not I have a nice day and in fact, she hopes I have a lousy, rotten day for not contributing to her beggar jar. Be very careful when you shop here and good luck if you need anything at the "courtesy" desk, an oxymoron if there ever was one, and where it's every man for himself. read more

This is not only the worst supermarket I have ever had the misfortune to set foot into, but the worst experience of any kind -- on a consistent basis. I avoid this outlet of the Shop Rite chain at all costs, opting instead to go out of my way a considerable distance to other locations. However, on the rare occasion that I am in the area with only one or two items to purchase, I grit my teeth and make the unfortunate mistake of entering. Yesterday was just such an occasion. Wishing to purchase just two items, one with a Shop Rite coupon, I had the horrific experience of being "served" by one of the usual Express cashiers -- a miserable woman generally, seemingly magnified while at her job. Reading my coupon as though it were WAR AND PEACE, she finally called over an equally miserable front end manager, who grumbled in a decidedly unfriendly manner, "how much is the item?". I then explained the situation for the umpteeth time to him. In the end, I ended up being denied the use of the coupon and the item was snatched unceremoniously from me. Additionally, I have literally seen a worker in the produce department adding grapes which had gone bad to each bag of still-good grapes. I have begun appropriate action and am happy to advise all to avoid this location of Shop Rite at all costs. My few rare visits have always been unpleasant at best. read more

Why do they have such great deals??!! I'm addicted to these savings!(literally) The cashiers, especially from the customer service desk, are exceptionally nice, patient, and attentive people. Except for the weekday evening manager-the guy wasn't very nice so I stop shopping there on weekdays. The manager lady usually there on weekends and Carla were always very patient with me. I've been a loyal customer for some time spent too much money because I'm a shopsaveoholic. Most know me since I'm there faithfully every week. This week I decided to shop somewhere else thanks to a new employee- a "helper"- forgot the name but she was a Hispanic lady with long black hair. She got sick of me and my coupons told me that this was my third checkout that day and wanted me to make it my last. Its not what you say its how you say it. Didn't appreciate that demand and tone at all so I will take my business back to Walmart for the savings. I will definitely miss this place! read more

Matthew R. is out of his little mind. The shoprite of Hackensack is much bigger and nicer than the one in Maywood. The one in Maywood is small, cramp, dirty and outdated. I get the feeling his review had little to do with the actual store and more to do with the PERCEPTION of the town. Avoid this Shoprite unless you enjoy being mistreated by Customer Service and then brushed off by the manager. Went there this morning to get eggs on sale. The dairy case only had only broken cartons left so I went to customer service to ask if there were more or a substitute. The customer service woman made a call and tells me to go back to the dairy case and someone will ring them to me. 10 minutes go by and nothing but workers passing by unconcerned. Go back to customer service and tell the woman no one showed and the attitude starts. She makes a call and then tells me to go somewhere else so I say well why did you tell me to go to the dairy case originally. And this sets her off and in the midst of a crowd she starts telling me if you want it go there and that I'm being rude!!! So I gave her a few choice words and go to the back where I find the worker who works with the eggs. I ask him why he wasn't stocking the dairy case and he tells me that he told the woman originally to send customers to the back because that's where the display case was set up with the eggs on sale. Now I'm really upset because she embarrassed me and she was giving me misinformation. I go to find the store manager and now I see where the attitude comes from. I start to tell him what happened and he says in a very 'what's your problem ' manner, 'did you get your eggs?' He could've cared less what I had to say and seemed bothered that I was even asking him something. I have been a shopper at the Shoprite for more than 15 years but no more. read more
