Visited this bar last night for an event and I must say I had a great time. I didn't experience what the other reviews are mentioning. Maybe because it was an event and not a regular night. Either way I can't relate. The bartenders were very friendly and provided everything we needed. They came around to check if we needed more drinks also. Con: there's only valet parking available for those who don't want to walk a half a mile if you find street parking. The valet attendants were friendly and provided great service. I will definitely come back on a regular night. I love the intimate vibes of the bar. Gives you that upscale luxury feel mixed with a little beach vacation vibes. read more

I don't even know how to rate this place. How about this-- Ages 21 and older, it's just not the vibe. Go to golden bull a stone's throw up the street for a lovely, classy little hang. They've got great bartenders and a fireplace, they play nice music and they have booths. It is romantic but could also be a fun spot for a group of friends. Ages 20 and younger, I'm sure you'll have fun. I swear, my girlfriend and I (in our late 20s) were scanning the unlit bar and dance floor, and there was just no way there were more of-age kids than underage. Hell, it really looked like some of these kids were in or freshly graduated from high school. On top of that, two mid-shelf tequila shots and two bottles of Estrella-- $60. Because the kids pay those prices of course. I hope your legs aren't tired... because you won't be sitting. DJ was ripping goose straight out of the bottle... he also looked high school aged. Nice Bar/lounge in Santa Monica. We attended a birthday party here and the place was jumping on a Saturday night. The venue has about six booths and a large bar area. Drinks were great and bartenders were attentive. Parking is valet, but you might be able to find parking near by, but get ready to walk. They have a DJ playing tunes and a small dance floor. Came for a fun night out for the long 4th of July weekend. One of our party members had a knee scooter for an injury. We had been to several places that were more than accommodating, which is the legal and right thing to do. The guys at the front had disgusting attitudes. The head honcho said he "couldn't just have our friend wheeling around his club" and he said he couldn't legally deny us entry, but would charge us $40 a head to get in. Thankfully, our friend is just injured and will return to walking soon. But is that how this establishment would treat disabled people as well? Clearly from the other reviews, this place isn't a good time anyways. We're happy to take our business elsewhere. read more

Lord, where do I start? I don't want to judge a place entirely by Yelp reviews, but I had to admit I got a kick out of reading them. My final consensus? I HAVE to check this place out. Well, opportunity came on a Sunday birthday party and while I may not have experienced the entire realm of what ShoreBar is because of this, it certainly wasn't as terrible as I had originally expected. First good sign: street parking, same side of street. Score! No $7 valet here. Bouncer*: Wasn't the friendly smiling type but most won't be. There were two open doors we were standing in front of and he simply directed me to the correct one. Nothing to complain about here. Crowd: Almost 100% completely whitewashed, I ruined this demographic (along with another co-worker) but I wasn't given dirty looks or bumped up against rudely. As a matter of fact, I thought the patrons here were actually NICER than other trendy places I have been. And I'm not cute. Staff: Bartender and especially the barback/busboy (there was only one of each) were really friendly (I'd almost say polite) guys, and maybe because it was Sunday and not crazy busy, the spirits were high. 'Food'/Drink: I smelled food, and was told that it could be brought in from neighboring spots, kind of like what The Otheroom in Venice permits. Tried a sip of the Moscow Mule in the copper mug from the birthday kid, and for what it was I enjoyed it, especially that potent ginger. But I politely handed it back to him; as it was probably his 4th one within the hour (I did want that mug though). Slight Issue: One thing that did kind of bother me is that a lot of the patrons did appear to be underage, especially this one underfed-looking girl with an extremely-tight-poor-excuse-of-a-white 'dress' perched on a stool at a table top across our booth. She was blatantly staring at another girl at our table and I asked our tablemate if she knew the girl staring. She didn't, and then said girl came over, wavering in front of our booth, blurting incoherent things as the guy she was with finished his drink and guided her away, giving us a 'sorry about that' expression. She didn't cause any trouble as you can see, but she clearly didn't seem like she should be there due to her age. Overall: So Adam K., this was a fairly decent night! Little out of my ways so I can't return every weekend, but glad I gave it a chance. And don't worry, you're not down a copper mug due to me. *Bouncer would not let the birthday boy back in about a hour and a half later, but in his favor, the kid was 100% unable to function, so technically, bouncer was in the right. They have a new bouncer who started a couple of months ago who is super kind and funny. Overall, a decent place to go if the line outside isn't too long and you're not in the mood to dress up for a big night out. Brought forty or so people there last night. Was empty except for us but that was fine. Nice setting, decent drinks, albeit too pricey. But they insisted on slowly cranking the music to deafening levels every 30 minutes of so until our entire crowd left. We even asked the manager to adjust which he did not. Couldn't recommend less. The bouncers were absolutely awful. I was with a small group of friends and the bouncers were pretentious and sexist. We were meeting a female friend already inside, which they didn't realize, and chastised is and gave us grief until we left because it was, "too many guys." I truly wish I could give this bar 0 stars. I've been to restaurants and bars all over the world and I have never been treated so rudely as at SHOREbar. Apparently I'm not the 'target market' for this bar as I'm over the age of 18-21 and I hadn't exposed approximately 75% of my body to go out. We visited with friends after an amazing dinner next door. When we arrived, it was probably about 10pm, but we entered without a glance from the doorman and sat down at a table for four. We were quickly greeted and served our round of drinks. About halfway through them, we were approached by a man who didn't even seem to be working there, but he told us that they messed up and we had to move since someone had 'purchased' our table. We were a bit upset that we couldn't finish our drinks, but we asked if we could have our bill so that we could close out before going. He insisted we didn't have to leave - just "move over there" (over there was a standing spot next to the table he wanted vacated). 10 minutes or so pass, and the same guy comes over, but this time is exceptionally rude and tells us we need to leave (we had not gotten our bill yet). We asked if he was paying for our drinks since we had no bill or would he please give us our bill to close out...he seemed totally offended by this and said no and then proceeded to get really rude, and raising his voice. We finally got our bill and paid up. However, not before this host/server/whoever told us that "the people buying your table will be paying WAY more than you, so you need to move". Now, considering I saw the bottle service list (which is what I assume he's talking about) and the prices were not significantly more than we had paid for one round of drinks, I can only assume he didn't know math or what we had paid for our beverages. So...asking us to move and they had made a mistake - no big deal. However, the treatment and ridiculous comment about how we weren't spending enough money is not acceptable. I've been at plenty of spots where they have a slight knowledge of customer service and know how to manage a mistake of the house. This spot was absolutely awful for that. Clearly they seem to be done just fine, but I suspect that as their current clienalle age, I suspect they will find somewhere else to imbibe. read more

I've been here a few times and after lengthy review have settled on one star. Usually I come here before or after Giorgio Baldi. Before Giorgio Baldi nice to get a drink just hang out, whatever. After Giorgio Baldi kind of nice to get another cocktail just hang out whatever. Recently I had the unfortunate experience of coming here as part of a wedding party. My friends got married at the Pacific Bay club just north, gorgeous. They had reserved two tables for 40 people at SHOREbar, I guess because it's the only name brand bar kind of close to this area. It was a Saturday, we arrived and were immediately dismissed by a white man with a beard, claiming they were 'at capacity' but if we 'bought a bottle' could get right in. When we insisted that we are part of the wedding party who had reserved tables I was told "your attitude wouldn't help you." At this point I only stuck around in solidarity for the bride and groom, I had no personal interest in getting into this bar. The bride and groom show up to the reserve table, the bouncers then count them in +9, claiming they are at capacity, prior to this they had let in a large group of women who had agreed to buy a table/bottle. The women began counting out their money in line outside which became so awkward the bouncers let them in prior to paying. The wedding party is standing outside, aghast, no one gives af about SHOREbar, were just here to support the couple. It was a mess. The couple and all of us colleagues there to support them were abhorred. In the strongest language possible; I would dissuade anyone from having a post wedding party here. These guys are under the impression they were some hot shit West Hollywood club. I feel very badly for the bride and groom who thought they set up a fun after party and had their guests treated so poorly. To the management of SHOREbar; this wedding party was comprised of professionals living and working in Santa Monica. You and your bouncers did yourselves a serious disservice. This successful Santa monica couple booked your bar to hang out after their *wedding* and you turned their successful Santa Monica wedding guests away. Who exactly do want patronizing your bar? I'll wait in the cold for my table at GB in the future. read more

Used to come here back in the day. Came tonight cause of the DJ and F this place. The bartender is a straight CROOK and he's freaking lucky I paid cash. Ordered 4 casa amigos on the rocks and a small water and the mofo charged me $89! This girl next to me ordered 3 casa amigos shots and was charged $45. When I asked why he's charging me $89, he said we charge $17 for shots and $19 for when u add ICE. Got caught in a lie right there since I told him the other person got charged $15.
